Queen Elizabeth installing more TV channels

OHMYGOSSIP — Queen Elizabeth is having more satellite channels installed at Buckingham Palace.
The 90-year-old monarch – who is a big fan of ‘EastEnders’, ‘Midsomer Murders’ and ‘Doctor Who’ – will return from her and Prince Philip’s Scottish residence of Balmoral to find the new dishes in place so she won’t miss out on any new shows.
A planning report obtained by The Sun newspaper stated: “Televisions within Buckingham Palace are fed by a signal distribution system that runs throughout the building.
“The system is now 12 years old and is to be replaced.
“We are looking to install the new satellite dishes during the summer recess when the Queen is at Balmoral.”
Elizabeth is known to be a big TV lover and as well as drama shows and the occasional soap, she loves talent show ‘The X Factor’ and has her aides record the programme for her.
In 2011, former contestant Mary Byrne, known as ‘Tesco Mary’ due to her working in the supermarket chain when she appeared on the show, revealed the monarch watched her on the programme.
After speaking to the queen, Mary explained: “She said, ‘You are the lady off ‘The X Factor’. Your song was fabulous’.
“I asked if she watched the show. She said, ‘It could be too late for me but I do watch it the next day’. They record it for her.”
An undercover reporter, who worked at Windsor Castle, once claimed dinner was served late one evening because the queen was watching ‘EastEnders’.

Princess Diana airport campaign

OHMYGOSSIP — A campaign has been launched to rename Cardiff Airport after Princess Diana.
Former Cardiff councillor Mohammed Sarul Islam set up the petition, which is to be discussed by the Welsh Government, to name the venue Princess Diana International Airport to attract more visitors to the Welsh capital city.
He said: “Using Princess Diana’s name would boost the airport worldwide because the name would attract people to the airport and make it more well known.
“As she’s a very famous figure it would attract people here.”
Diana was known as the Princess of Wales but was tragically killed in a car crash aged 36 in 1997.
The petition required at least 10 signatures to be considered by government officials and managed to attract 16.
A post on the National Assembly of Wales website recognised the campaign.
Under the heading Text of the Petition, it read: “We the undersigned call on the Welsh Government to rename Cardiff International Airport to “Princess Diana International Airport.”
On the subject of Additional Information, it stated: “To rename Cardiff International Airport will get more publicity and Welsh customers.”
But Cardiff International Airport bosses are not so keen and are said to have rejected the suggestion.
A spokesperson for the airport told Wales Online: “We have no plans to change our name.”

Prince George to attend Canada children's party?

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince George and Princess Charlotte look set to attend a children’s party for military families in Canada.
The pair will accompany their mother and father, Prince William and Duchess Catherine, on their tour of the North American country later this month, and while it hasn’t been confirmed when the youngsters will make a public appearance, the event at Government House in Victoria on September 29 is a possibility.
A Kensington Palace spokesperson told the Daily Express newspaper: “This is a great opportunity for them to introduce their children to a major realm before things like schools make it difficult later on.”
George, three, and 16-month-old Charlotte will be based in Government House along with their parents throughout the week-long tour so should they attend the kids party they won’t have long to travel.
The youngsters are expected to have at least one public “play date” during the excursion.
The tour will mark the first time Charlotte has been on a worldwide royal visit with her parents.
George did so in 2014 when he accompanied William and Catherine, who are both 34, to New Zealand and Australia.
The prince attended a children’s Government House event in Wellington, New Zealand, so he would be no stranger to such an activity in Canada, where his parents visited in 2011.
William and Catherine’s tour will begin on September 24 in Victoria and see them visit Vancouver and Bella Bella among other destinations.

Prince Harry's pal wins Paralympics gold

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince Harry’s friend Elizabeth Marks has won a gold medal at the Paralympic Games.
The 25-year-old star followed on from her gold at this summer’s Invictus Games by repeating the feat in the 100m breaststroke race at the spectacle in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and set a new world record in the process.
She told the Team USA website: “I had no idea [I was winning].
“I can’t see when I am swimming. About 25 meters in I have no idea where anybody else is. As long as I feel pressure on my hands I know it is going well. I was just hoping for the best and putting everything I had into it.”
Marks – who is in the US Army – first came to Harry’s attention when she struck gold at the Invictus Games and in an incredible gesture asked the 31-year-old prince to give her medal to the London hospital which saved her life.
Earlier this year, she praised Harry for being a “nice, honest” guy who does some great work supporting soldiers.
She said: “He’s a very nice, honest, good human being who is here for one purpose: to show the world that soldiers can move forward from their injuries, and to support them,
“He uses his fame and his influence to support soldiers.”
Earlier this month, Harry wished the Invictus Games stars competing at the Rio 2016 Paralympics good luck.
He said: “To those Invictus Games competitors representing your five nations, all I have to say to you is what an incredible achievement – well done for your selection. You have trained harder than ever, but the fight to the finish line won’t be easy.
“You all know this better than anyone. Cherish this moment as you get to serve your country again. Absorb the applause and atmosphere for inspiring millions, but most importantly – have fun!”

Prince Charles' sheep puns

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince Charles made a string of sheep puns as he addressed the Dumfries House Wool Conference.
The 67-year-old royal attend the event, which was organised by The Campaign for Wool, alongside a number of big players in the fashion and interiors industry including British designer Sir Paul Smith, Alan Folwell, the chairman of Adam Carpets and model David Gandy.
Speaking to the audience, the Prince said: “Ladies and Gentlemen, this is the one occasion on which I really do want to pull the wool over your eyes but I won’t ram the point home as it would be a very non-ewe thing to do!
“It is very good of you all to come here today representing, as you do, every part of the wool chain and from all the major wool-growing countries. I do hope you have all had a chance to contribute to the day’s discussions and to pick up ideas from each other. Needless to say, I am enormously grateful to Marks and Spencer for their dedicated support for this conference and further interest in the reassuring of some of the manufacturers.”
The Prince of Wales – who is next in line to the British throne – spoke of his passion for supporting those who rely on the land for their livelihoods.
He concluded: “As someone who minds deeply about the prospects for farmers and rural livelihoods and worries about the desperate environmental consequences for our children and grandchildren of relying on products made from fossil fuels, this is a cause that means a lot to me. I can only hope it does to you too.
“So, I have just agreed to continue as Patron of the Campaign for Wool for a further five years and I am very proud indeed to endorse the Dumfries House Wool Declaration. With your help, I am going to do everything I possibly can to build on the success we have achieved, thus ensuring that wool receives proper recognition for all its wonderful, natural attributes.”

Secret committee planning Prince Charles' coronation

OHMYGOSSIP — A secret committee has been put in charge of planning Prince Charles’ coronation.
Papers obtained by the Mail On Sunday newspaper reportedly list the Duke of Norfolk as the head of the committee that has been asked to organise the event, which they have nicknamed the Golden Orb.
The committee are also said to be responsible for planning the funeral of The Queen – which is given the codename London Bridge – and the funeral for Prince Philip – named as Forth Bridge.
Royal historian Dr Anna Whitelock believes the name ‘The Golden Orb’ has been chosen as it relates to the Crown Jewels used in a coronation ceremony.
She said: “The orb is a hollow ball of gold and a Christian symbol of authority signifying Christ’s dominion over the world represented in the next Monarch’s power.
“The name of the committee reminds us that at the heart of the ceremony, the King is made to swear vows of awesome severity, not to his country, or even his subjects, but to God.”
However, it may be some time until Prince Charles takes to the throne as Queen Elizabeth, who currently holds the position as head of the royal family, has no plans to slow down with the amount of royal engagements she does this year.
A source said previously: “She will not be doing less, just doing it more gently. There is a lot happening between now and July, so it is about trying to find new ways for her to work less strenuously.”

One of Harry’s friends added to the Daily Express newspaper: “He smoked a lot in the Army, as most of the guys do. You’ve got to want to give up and he doesn’t really.”

She stays there until the beginning of October, when she returns to London. She rides in the mornings, drives round the estate to visit tenants, and even goes into the neighboring town, Ballater, from time to time to do some shopping. Once, in a Ballater shop, she met another customer, who said, ‘You look just like the Queen!,’ to which Her Majesty replied, ‘How very reassuring!’
“At Balmoral and at Sandringham she likes to take her guests, including bemused prime ministers, for picnic suppers in a log cabin on the estate. The Duke of Edinburgh cooks the barbecue, and the Queen lays the table and helps clean up afterward.”
