Duchess Camilla wants to help victims of domestic violence

OHMYGOSSIP — Duchess Camilla has vowed to continue supporting victims of domestic violence.
The 69-year-old royal has said she will do “everything in her power” to help make a difference to the lives of those subjected to abuse after meeting the family of mother Rachel Slack who was murdered with her young child at the hands of her former partner in 2010.
Speaking to the family at the London HQ for charity Refuge, Camilla said: “I can’t even begin to understand what you have been through but what happened to Rachel makes it even more important that we make a change in the way this issue is viewed and dealt with.”
Camilla – the wife of Prince Charles – was joined at the event with ‘Star Trek’ star Sir Patrick Stewart.
The 76-year-old actor – a patron of the domestic violence charity – opened up about his own mother who was abused by his father.
He said: “It is the shame that accompanies it that I remember most. In those days nobody could talk about it.
“I heard a policeman say ‘It takes two to make an argument, Mrs Stewart.'”
Camilla then said she promises to make a difference and admitted she had no idea how many cases there were involving women and minors.
According to The Sun newspaper, she said: “Until I got involved, I had no idea how many women had been affected, and children.
“I shall keep trying to help, I promise.”

Prince Harry makes house guest poll

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince Harry has been named as one of the top ten people British women would like to see on their doorstep.
The 31-year-old royal placed sixth on the list, closely behind television presenter David Attenborough and reality star Kim Kardashian West.
Topping the list was ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ star Tom Hardy with 15% whilst ‘Deadpool’ actor Ryan Reynolds came a close second with 13%. James Corden placed third with 10%.
Another member of the royal family – Duchess Catherine’s sister Pippa Middleton – also made it onto the top 10 celebrities British men would like to see at their home.
Sylvester Stallone topped the poll with 18% whilst sportsmen Cristiano Ronaldo (16%) and David Haye (15%) came second and third respectively. Pippa – who is engaged to be married to James Matthews – came in ninth place, just under ‘We Are Your Friends’ star Emily Ratajkowski.
The study was carried out by home-interiors brand www.Hillarys.co.uk, who quizzed 2,532 Britons about their ideal guest.
Tara Hall, spokesperson for www.hillarys.co.uk, said: “It’s funny to think that if Tom Hardy or Mila Kunis surprised us at home, many of us would react by doing a spot of vacuuming before treating them to a cuppa!”

Duchess Camilla opens vet hospital at Battersea Dogs + Cats Home

OHMYGOSSIP — Duchess Camilla opened a veterinary hospital at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home on Wednesday (07.09.16).
The 69-year-old royal was on hand to officially open the hospital and a Centre of Excellence and was joined by television personality and Battersea Ambassador Paul O’Grady as well as Battersea Chief Executive Claire Horton.
The Duchess of Cornwall toured the new facilities including the hospital, which will help treat the 5,000 dogs and 3,000 cats the home cares for at its centres across London, Berkshire and Kent.
The royal – who adopted two pet Jack Russells from the centre four years ago – was desperate to take another pooch back home with her.
She told MailOnline: “We’ve had to have a bit of extra training and will probably be in to have some more. But why would you go out and buy a dog when you can come to Battersea and rescue one?
“I am literally having to hold myself back and stop popping one in my bag, they are all so gorgeous. But I think three would be a little but too much and I’m not sure my two girls would be that accepting of a stranger. I’ll just have to persuade everyone else to go and get one!”
Elsewhere on her visit, The Duchess met some of the organisation’s staff and volunteers as well as some of the resident pooches.

Prince William greets crowds

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince William was called to help a man who had been stabbed on Wednesday afternoon (07.09.16).
The 33-year-old royal was spotted in the cockpit of an East of England Air Ambulance helicopter at Letchworth, Hertfordshire after responding to a call where a man had been injured after a fight.
Jordan Hamill, 19, who was at the scene, said: “I had just finished work and my friend phoned me and said what had happened and I just ran over there. At first I didn’t know it was him, but then everyone kept saying Prince William was there.
“Earlier on there was a crazy lady who ran in front of the helicopter and screamed, ‘I love you William’ but she got taken away by the police. The police were keeping everyone back but it was cool to be that close.
“At first I didn’t know it was him but that’s what everyone was saying. It looks like him and everyone was sure it was him. I even heard the police said it was him.”
The Duke of Cambridge – who has Prince George, three, and Princess Charlotte, 16 months, with his wife, Duchess Catherine – got out of the helicopter to wave to those who had gathered.
The man who was being treated by paramedics was taken to Lister Hospital by a land ambulance, where he was given treatment for injuries to his arm and back.

Prince Charles named Londoner of the Decade

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince Charles was named Londoner of the Decade at an awards ceremony in London on Wednesday (07.09.16).
The 67-year-old royal was “touched and surprised” to receive the honour at the Evening Standard’s Progress 1000 party.
He said: “I am most touched and, indeed, surprised, that the Evening Standard should have decided to give me the award of Londoner of the Decade.
“I have to confess I am not entirely sure whether to be pleased or alarmed. Perhaps I am losing my touch when such eminent newspapers start giving me achievement awards! So I set to wondering what this achievement might have been.
“As I suppose I have spent most of my life trying to propose and initiate things that very few people could see the point of or, frankly, thought were plain bonkers at the time, perhaps some of them are now beginning to recognise a spot of pioneering in all this apparent madness.”
The Prince of Wales – who is first in line to the British throne – was recognised for his work with the Prince’s Trust, which he set up in 1976. The trust has helped more then 800,000 children since its inception with over 5,000 coming from London.
The royal was also honoured for his work with The Prince’s Foundation for Building Community, which encourages people to have a say in how they’d like their town to be developed.
He added: “The most successful communities mix the private with affordable housing; enclose green spaces within squares and communal gardens; provide good quality housing integrated with walkable, mixed-use neighbourhoods; good public transport and an identity that fosters pride and a sense of belonging.
“It is these qualities which attract so many people to London and, time and again, this is the sort of development that various surveys reveal is what many people would prefer to see.”

Prince Charles' honours Queen with Meadow

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince Charles helped youngsters to plant flowers in honour of his mother yesterday (06.09.16).
The 67-year-old royal headed to Green Park in central London to mark the creation of The Queen’s Meadow, which is part of his Coronation Meadows project and named after his mum, Queen Elizabeth.
A series of posts on the Clarence House Twitter account read: “The Prince of Wales visited Green Park in #London today to celebrate the creation of The Queen’s Meadow.
“The Queen’s Meadow is part of HRH’s wildflower project, which aims to create a wildflower meadow in every British county.
“The Queen’s Meadow has been named in honour of Her Majesty The Queen’s 90th birthday. #Queenat90”
Charles’ brainchild started in 2013 when Queen Elizabeth, 90, celebrated the 60th anniversary of her Coronation.
In 2013, Charles said: “My Coronation Meadows idea came to me when I read Plantlife’s 2012 report and fully appreciated just how many wildflower meadows had been lost over the past 60 years.
“This year, we are celebrating my mother’s coronation so surely there is no better moment to end this destruction and to stimulate a new mood to protect our remaining meadows and to use them as springbokards for the restoration of other sites and the creation of new meadows right across the UK.”
Charles is known for his horticultural work and has concerns about the impact of climate change and global warming.
In July, he became a patron of the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew and admitted he was “delighted” to be an official supporter of the gardens.
He said: “I have always had the greatest affection and admiration for the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew, so I could not be more proud and delighted to have been invited to become Patron of this great institution. Kew has had its roots planted deeply in British soil for more than 250 years, but has developed an international reputation as one of the world’s greatest botanic gardens, renowned for its scientific research and plant collections.”

Pippa Middleton's birthday walk

OHMYGOSSIP — Pippa Middleton went for a walk with her mother on her 33rd birthday.
The sister of Duchess Catherine was spotted out and about on a leafy central London street with their mother Carole Middleton, 61, as the brunette beauty saw in her latest milestone yesterday (06.09.16).
Pippa – who got engaged to James Matthews in July – looked in relaxed mood as she headed out with her mum on her special day.
While James was nowhere to be seen during the stroll, the happy couple are likely to have spent time with each other last night.
Her £200,000 engagement ring was certainly on show for their walk.
Pippa and James are expected to tie the knot next year, and Carole is said to have been the “mastermind” behind the hedge fund manager popping the question.
A source recently said: “This is something she has hoped for quite some time. She appears to be something of a mastermind in making this happen.”
Before asking Pippa to marry him, James is said to have approached her father Michael Middleton, 67, and asked for his daughter’s hand in marriage in the traditional way.
A source said: “James is a traditionalist and very much wanted to do things properly. That meant getting his future father-in-law’s consent. Mike and Carole are very happy. They like James and they are sure he will make Pippa very happy.
“He worked very hard from an early age. He’s a smart chap but also the sort of bloke you would be proud to call a friend He made a huge amount of cash from hedge funds and some more from the London property market. We’re talking millions here and you don’t do that by the age of 40 unless you are a sharp cookie. And James is very bright.”

Prince Charles promotes use of wool

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince Charles buried two jumpers to encourage people to buy more wool products.
The 67-year-old royal opted to bury one woollen jumper and another made from synthetic fabric to show how environmental friendly wool is.
He shared: “Six months later, a ceremonious exhumation revealed an intact synthetic jersey, fit indeed to be washed and worn, while the woollen jersey had quietly and usefully biodegraded itself away to nothing.”
The Prince of Wales – who is first in line to the throne – also conducted a fire test on the two jumpers, showing how the synthetic fibre caused a “dramatic and disconcerting blaze”.
He added: “Synthetic jerseys produced a dramatic and disconcerting blaze. While their woollen counterparts merely smouldered in relative safety.”
The Prince wants the tests to “encourage a much greater understanding of wool”.
Writing in The Telegraph magazine, he added: “I want to encourage a much greater understanding of wool not only as a global environmental resource – versatile, sustainable, renewable and natural – but also as a global fashion resource of the highest quality.
“These may not be entirely welcome propositions in some part of an industry that is sadly dominated by mass-produced chemical fibres, but today’s environmentally aware consumers do seem to be seeking out quality and durability in fashion, lifestyle and interiors. And that is exactly what wool provides.”

“HRH will visit Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Grenada, Guyana, St Kitts and Nevis, St Lucia, and St Vincent and the Grenadines.”
Harry will visit Barbados and Guyana to mark the 50th anniversary of independence for both countries, and it is the 35th year of independence for Barbuda and Antigua.
It will not be the first time the 31-year-old royal has visited Barbados, having spent time there in 2010 as part of an official visit.
During his travels, he raised money at a Haiti benefit concert and got involved with the event by dancing the calypso on stage.
He told the audience at the time: “I can’t believe I have let myself in for this. I think I’ll just crowd dive instead.”
Harry’s trip could have ended in disaster when he was thrown head-first off his horse during a charity polo match, but fortunately both he and the animal were unharmed.
He also consumed spicy food with Prince Seeiso of Lesotho, visited a local hospital and met legendary TV presenter Cilla Black, who has since passed away.
She said at the time: “Harry said to me, ‘I didn’t know you were going to be here,’ and I said, ‘Well, surprise, surprise.’ ”

Prince Harry received by Botswana president

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince Harry was received by the President of Botswana yesterday (05.09.16).
The 31-year-old royal met up with Ian Khama at the Presidential Palace in Gaborone, the country’s capital and largest city, and the British High Commissioner to the nation, Katharine Ransome, was also in attendance.
The Court Circular – the official record of past royal engagements – stated: “Prince Henry of Wales was received by The President of the Republic of Botswana at the Presidential Palace, Gaborone, Botswana, today.
“Her Excellency Ms Katharine Ransome (British High Commissioner to the Republic of Botswana) was present.”
Harry has close ties with the country and in May it was announced the work of his Sentebale charity, which supports HIV positive youngsters in Africa, will be expanded to Botswana.
He told guests at the Sentebale Polo Cup in Florida that he wanted to “give as much back” as he could to the country.
He said: “This year, we are working with established partners and government departments elsewhere across southern Africa; and I’m delighted to confirm that we will be expanding our camp programme into Botswana, a country I have been visiting regularly for almost two decades and genuinely feel I need to give as much back to as I can.
“We are confident that, in partnership with others and by maximising our use of the new centre, we will provide 1 million hours of support to children and young people living with HIV and Aids across the region by 2020.
“That’s an ambitious goal, but as I’ve already mentioned, the scale of the challenge demands bold action.”

Prince Charles entertains Battle of Britain survivors

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince Charles had tea with the Battle of Britain survivors yesterday (06.09.16).
The Prince of Wales and his wife, Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, entertained four of the remaining 14 veterans, plus widows and other members of The Battle of Britain Fighter Association at Clarence House, and admitted he “can’t bear” to see their numbers dwindling.
He said: “What I can’t bear is The Few keep getting fewer and fewer.”
The Battle of Britain took place during World War II from July to October 1940 when the Royal Air Force defended the UK against the German Air Force.
Survivors of the conflict are known as The Few, and all 14 are aged between 94 and 100.
It comes after then-Prime Minister Sir Winston Churchill famously said: “Never in the field of human conflict was so much owed by so many to so few.”
Charles and Camilla heard stories from the survivors, including former squadron leader Geoffrey Wellum, 95, who spoke about the day he “should have died” and asked for people to remember those who sadly passed away.
He explained: “It’s not about medals or about the ‘thank yous’ we get, it’s about remembering everybody who fought, not just the survivors. That’s all we ask.”
More than 23,000 civilians were killed in the conflict and almost half of the 3,000 airmen lost their lives.
Charles, 67, has been patron of The Battle of Britain Fighter Association since 2003.

Builder grabs cheeky selfie with Prince William and Duchess Catherine

OHMYGOSSIP — A builder has managed to take a cheeky selfie with Prince William and Duchess Catherine.
The royal couple were walking through a building site in Newquay in Cornwall on Thursday (01.09.16) when hardhat-wearing construction worker Sam Wayne placed his camera in the perfect position to grab a picture with Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
However, it’s not the first time Sam – from Redruth in Cornwall – has grabbed a selfie with a member of the royal family.
In 2014, when Prince Charles was visiting the area, Sam had the nerve to go up to the 67-year-old royal and took a photo with him.
At the time, Sam said: “I felt quite comfortable talking to him, you know. You’ve got to be brave. I think it will be a profile picture or something.”
According to the Daily Mirror newspaper, 34-year-old Catherine was wolf-whistled on site, while William was asked for a kiss, but he leant in for a hug and a photo instead.
Later on in the day, William, also 34, and Catherine stopped off at Healey’s Cornish Cider Farm and got the chance to pull a pint.
It was kept under wraps which mysterious tourist attraction the pair would visit but it turned out to be the cider farm, which was marking its 30th anniversary, that the couple chose to see.
William and Catherine – who have three-year-old Prince George and 15-month-old Princess Charlotte – began their Cornish adventure by visiting Truro Cathedral, where they signed a slate for roof repairs for the ancient landmark.
They then travelled to Towan Beach in Newquay to visit the Wave Project where they met with young people who benefit from the service, which gets youngsters doing surfing to help with anxiety.
On Friday (02.09.16) they begin their second day in the area and are expected to visit the Scilly Isles.

OHMYGOSSIP — Duchess Catherine would “secretly” like to be a farmer.
The 34-year-old royal – who has two-year-old Prince George and 15-month-old Princess Charlotte with Prince William – told young farm enthusiast Bea Hodge that she’s always fancied herself working on land and looking after crops and has been teaching her children how to look after their own apple orchard at Sandringham House.
Whilst the royal couple were visiting Newquay in Cornwall on Thursday (01.09.16), the 15-year-old Young Farmer told reporters: “She said she was teaching George and Charlotte all about the farm at Sandringham.
“She’s been teaching George the difference between barley and wheat and everything they grow on the farm there.
“She wants the children to learn all about farming and the apples in their orchard. She said she’d secretly like to be a young farmer.
And she said they’d really enjoyed all the cider today!”
Earlier in the day William and Catherine sampled boozy concoctions at Healey’s Cornish Cider Farm.
Catherine got the chance to pull a pint of the local brew but admitted it’s a skill she’s never been very good at.
She said: “I’ve never mastered this!”
The owner of the establishment, Joe Healey, showed William and Catherine bottles of cider that had matured into different spirits including brandy and rum and whisky.
A panicked William said: “Rum?! This is where the engagement really goes downhill!”
However, Catherine seemed to enjoy it and said it was “delicious”.
Lightweight William said if he’d end up falling over if he drank the whole glass.
He added: “I’ll fall over if I drink that!”

On having the royal couple in town, he said: “It was absolutely thrilling. It was a delight.

And the royal couple’s boozy visit didn’t stop there, they then downed 120-proof whisky.
The owner of the establishment, Joe Healey, showed William and Catherine bottles of cider that had matured into different spirits including brandy and rum and whisky.
