Prince Harry to take Meghan Markle to Africa

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince Harry is set to take Meghan Markle to Africa in October.
The 32-year-old royal has been dating the ‘Suits’ actress since last year, and according to the Daily Mail newspaper they will travel together to southern Africa later this year to take part in Harry’s charity projects in the country of Lesotho.
Prince Harry has taken part in charity work in the country for over a decade, after taking a gap year to the nation in 2004 and setting up the charity Sentebale in 2006, with the help of Lesotho royal Prince Seeiso.
According to their website, Sentebale aims to help “the most vulnerable children in Lesotho and Botswana get the support they need to lead healthy and productive lives.”
The website continues: “Sentebale works with local grassroots organisations to help these children – the victims of extreme poverty and the HIV/AIDS epidemic. Together, we’re making a big difference to these children’s lives. We can do even more with your help.”
However, fans of the royal and his 35-year-old girlfriend won’t be able to find updates on their trip on Meghan’s lifestyle blog The Tig – which she set up in 2014 – as she decided on Friday (07.04.17) to shut it down.
She wrote in her final post: “After close to three beautiful years on this adventure with you, it’s time to say goodbye to The Tig. What began as a passion project (my little engine that could) evolved into an amazing community of inspiration, support, fun and frivolity. You’ve made my days brighter and filled this experience with so much joy. Keep finding those Tig moments of discovery, keep laughing and taking risks, and keep being ‘the change you wish to see in the world.’ Above all, don’t ever forget your worth – as I’ve told you time and time again: you, my sweet friend, you are enough. Thank you for everything (sic).”

Prince Harry meets fan in underwear

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince Harry has chatted to a man who was wearing nothing but his underwear.
The 32-year-old royal made a visit to the University of Bath to meet with rugby player Matthew Attwood, who greeted the flame-haired prince in very little clothing as he was strapped up to sensors as he demonstrated the latest research into rugby injuries, and seeing whether tackling differently could avoid damage.
Matthew said upon meeting the royal: “I feel a bit ridiculous. The day I meet royalty and I’m in not far from my birthday suit. It will be a memorable occasion.”
Whilst Harry joked: “You’re getting exposure now. And you’re going to get rinsed by all your mates tomorrow!”
The Prince was in Bath for the Invictus Games British team trials, where around 300 wounded servicemen and women were competing for a place on the team which will head to the games – which were founded by Prince Harry – in Toronto in September.
Speaking to the hopeful rowers, Harry said: “I’d like to see you all there but the reality is we only have 90 places. But what I do hope is your journey up to this point has been recovery no matter what and on top of recovery you’re here making friends and sharing stories and experiences you’ll never forget.”
And the Prince was also introduced to Dan Phillips, an injured ex-serviceman who is hoping to take part in archery and shot put events.
Dan was accompanied by his young son Harry Phillips, who engaged in a mini boxing match with the royal.
Dan said: “Big Harry was teaching little Harry to box. They were high-fiving and boxing. We were chuffed to bits that they met as we call our son our Prince Harry!”

Queen Elizabeth to open controversial ivory display at Sandringham House

OHMYGOSSIP — Queen Elizabeth is set to display controversial ivory artefacts at new exhibition at her Sandringham estate.
The 90-year-old royal will exhibit historical objects such as an intricately carved ivory box, a clock cabinet, and a gong hanging between two elephant tusks for the public to view in commemoration of the 70th anniversary of India’s independence.
Most of the items in the collection were gifted to the royal family by Indian nobility in the 19th and early 20th century, before the use and trade of ivory – which is traditionally made from the tusks of elephants – became controversial due to its contribution to the severely declining elephant population.
However, the exhibition is likely to cause upset amongst the royal family, as the monarch’s grandson Prince William has long since been a campaigner for the ban of ivory trade and, according to the Daily Mail newspaper, reportedly called for all 1,200 ivory items in the royal collection to be destroyed.
The 34-year-old Prince previously spoke out about the vicious slaughter of elephants for their tusks after visiting a sanctuary for the animals in China in 2015.
He said at the time: “Ending demand for ivory is down to citizens across the world.
“No tradition or fashion is worth the extinction of an entire species, and no criminal gang should be allowed to destroy any part of nature.
“I am sure there are millions of people who share this conviction.
“It is appalling that elephants – and many others – may be extinct in the wild in our lifetimes, and that we seem to be hurtling towards that tragic outcome.
“The extinction of animals such as elephants, rhinos and pangolins would be an immeasurable loss to the whole of humanity.”
The ivory collection will be available to view at the Sandringham House museum, when it opens to the public between April and October.

Prince Charles pays tribute at Vimy Ridge centenary

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince Charles, Prince William, and Prince Harry have honoured fallen soldiers at the centenary of the Battle of Vimy Ridge.
The 68-year-old royal and his two sons travelled to the Canadian National Vimy Memorial near Lille in northern France on Sunday (09.04.17) to commemorate the 100th anniversary since capture of Vimy Ridge during the First World War.
The Battle of Vimy Ridge took place over four days in 1917, and resulted in around 3,500 Canadian soldiers losing their lives, whilst another 10,000 were left wounded. The battle is regarded as Canada’s most notable military victory and a symbol of the birth of the country’s national pride.
Prince Charles told around 25,000 Canadians who had gathered at the ceremony that although the battle marked the “bloodiest day” in Canadian history, it also showcased the country “at it’s best”.
He said in his speech: “Today it is hard to believe possible the horrors that unfolded here on April 9, 1917. This was a battlefield of corpses. The terrifying roar of massed artillery filled the air.
“As one Canadian Brigade signalling officer wrote: ‘Imagine the loudest clap of thunder you ever heard, multiplied by two, and prolonged indefinitely.’ Boot-deep mud rendered each step a struggle, amidst a deadly, relentless hail of bullets.
“This was, and remains, the single bloodiest day in Canadian military history. They did not waver. This was Canada at its best.”
Prince Charles – along with William, 34, and 32-year-old Harry – was joined at the ceremony by French president Francois Hollande and Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau.
The three royals made the visit to the site on behalf of Charles’ mother – who is William and Harry’s grandmother – Queen Elizabeth, who is also the Queen of Canada.
She last visited the site in 2007 for the 90th anniversary of the battle, where she praised the “courage and achievement” of the Canadian soldiers for their “stunning victory” over German forces.

Prince Charles is proud of 'amazing' grandmother

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince Charles feels so proud of his “amazing grandmother” after she saved the lives of a Jewish family by protecting them from the Nazis during the Second World War.
The 68-year-old royal – the eldest son of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip – couldn’t help but gush about his paternal grandma as he and his wife Duchess Camilla spent Thursday (06.04.17) morning with Holocaust survivors at the Jewish Museum in Vienna, Austria, during the final leg of their nine-day tour of Europe.
Speaking to the survivors, he said: “My father’s mother took in a Jewish family during the war and hid them. She was amazing, my grandmother.
“She took them in during the Nazi occupation. She never told anybody, she didn’t tell her family for many years. She’s buried in Jerusalem. In September last year I went to the funeral of President (Shimon) Peres and finally got to see her grave.”
The prince made the revelation over a cup of tea as he explained that Princess Alice of Battenburg, a great-granddaughter of Queen Victoria, sheltered a Jewish family – the Cohens – in her home when Greece was occupied by Nazi forces.
Holocaust survivor Gerda Frei, 80, said, according to the Daily Telegraph newspaper, afterwards: “It is wonderful that the Prince and Duchess came here. The Prince told us how proud he was of his grandmother, Princess Alice of Greece, who hid a Jewish family from the Nazis.”

OHMYGOSSIP — The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have released a collection of mental health films.
The royal couple and William’s brother Prince Harry have just dropped a series – called #oktosay – in a bid to raise awareness of mental health and get people talking about the taboo subject as part of their royal campaign Heads Together.

One clip sees Adwoa and her mother discuss her attempted suicide and how she managed to beat her battle against depression and gain control of her bipolar disorder.
Another sees former soccer player Ferdinand talk to his agent about how he dealt with the tragic passing of his wife Rebecca Ellison, who died of breast cancer in 2015.
While another clip is based on Ruby as she discusses with her husband about struggling with mental illness and what others around those suffering can do to help them.

Meghan Markle thinks over-planning 'kills magic'

OHMYGOSSIP — Meghan Markle doesn’t like to “over plan” because it “kills magic.”
The ‘Suits’ actress is currently dating Prince Harry – the grandson of Queen Elizabeth – and, although she didn’t directly mention her beau, she has hinted that she likes to be sporadic when it comes to their romance because it keeps the passion alive.
Taking to her blog The Tig on Wednesday (05.04.17), the brunette beauty shared a series of quotes under a post titled ‘Thoughts to live by’.
The couple have been dating for a little under a year, and it seems their romance is going from strength to strength as sources suggest the pair are doing great together despite factors that could put a strain on their relationship, such as the long distance when Meghan is filming in Canada for the series.
A source said previously: “Despite the distance, the media attention and everything else, there’s a real ease to their relationship. It just works. They are deeply happy.”
The 35-year-old actress is scheduled to return to Canada for “filming commitments” over the spring and summer, so has been determined to spend as much quality time with the flame-haired royal before she returns to work.
A source recently said: “They spend a lot of time watching movies at Harry’s and cooking new dishes. Meg is a great cook and sends Harry out to posh food shops. She has even added a few feminine touches such as scented candles and soft furnishings.”
The couple are also reportedly planning on moving in together, and Meghan believes a move to London will be “inevitable” as Harry will need to continue his royal duties.
The insider added: “They’re trying to spend as much time together as possible as Meg has filming commitments over the spring and summer. But she feels that a move to London is inevitable as their relationship becomes more serious.”

Writing on her blog The Tig, she said: “I am feeling so incredibly joyful right now, so grateful and content that all I could wish for is more of the same. More surprises, more adventure, more opportunities to grow, more days filled with giggles and cheeky jokes, more delicious meals, and more inspiration. Always more inspiration.”
Although they’ve only been romancing a short while, the 32-year-old royal is apparently keen to settle down with Meghan and has, therefore, made plans to live with his girlfriend next door to his brother Prince William and his wife Catherine.
The flame-haired hunk wants to make sure everything is perfect for when they move in so he’s been regularly popping in to check on the renovation work.

Queen Elizabeth travels with chocolate cake

OHMYGOSSIP — Queen Elizabeth won’t travel without a slice of chocolate biscuit cake in tow.
The 90-year-old monarch is addicted to her chef Darren McGrady’s delicious sweet treat and makes sure a little stash of it goes with her whenever she’s away from home.
Speaking to RecipesPlus, he said: “Now the chocolate biscuit cake is the only cake that goes back again and again and again everyday until it’s all gone.
“She’ll take a small slice every day until eventually there is only one tiny piece, but you have to send that up, she wants to finish the whole of that cake.”
The queen’s sweet tooth is certainly no secret as Darren previously revealed that she turns into a “major chocoholic” when the festive season rolls around.
He said at the time: “The queen is a major chocoholic, particularly dark chocolate, so she always has a chocolate treat on Christmas. She also loves mint.”
He also revealed that Christmas is the one time of the year when the monarch turns the tables on her staff.
He explained: “Right before the Christmas buffet, the senior chef on duty goes into the dining room and carves the rib roast or turkey or ham and once he’s done, Her Majesty presents the chef with a glass of whiskey and they toast. That’s the only time the chef goes into the dining room and has a glass of whiskey with the royal family. It’s one of the chef’s favourite traditions.”

Princess Charlotte gets her own merch

OHMYGOSSIP — Princess Charlotte is set to get her own merchandise.
The toddler may only be 23 months old but she’s already making the royal family money as the Kensington Palace shop is to release a range of pink toys as well as clothes, T-shirts, jewellery and children’s make-up, emblazoned with the little one’s cartoon face.
Kensington Palace said of the range: “We stock a variety of gifts, products and souvenirs inspired by the history of the palaces in our shops and online.
This particular range features a number of fictional princesses inspired by Kensington Palace’s 300-year history and has been on sale since early 2015 – before Princess Charlotte was born. It is entirely coincidental that one of the imaginary characters in the Palace Princesses range shares the same name.”
The new range is aimed at young visitors but parents won’t have to miss out as they will be able to get their hands on fridge magnets, cups and pendants.
The collection varies in price but certainly won’t break the bank as the most expensive item – a dress-up gown – is being sold for just £35.
The Palace said of the dress: “Imagine yourself gliding down the corridors of Kensington Palace like Princess Charlotte with this delightful princess fancy dress.”
The release comes just a few weeks before Charlotte’s second birthday on May 2.
This isn’t the first time the Palace has cleverly put something up for sale to rake in as much cash as possible as they created a colouring book earlier this year – around the same time they were a big craze with kids and adults – of Duchess Catherine.

Prince Charles disrupts PM's flight

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince Charles reportedly disrupted Theresa May’s plans to conduct government business in the Middle East after he booked her official plane for his tour.
The Prime Minister was forced to lease a private jet for her visit to the transcontinental region after the 68-year-old royal and his wife Duchess Camilla booked the use of her official RAF aircraft for their current nine-day trip across Europe.
According to the Independent newspaper, Clarence House said the prince was entitled to use the RAF Voyager A330, which cost the taxpayer £10 million to have it refitted, because he had booked his trip before the PM announced her plans to travel.
A spokesperson for Downing Street said: “The royal visit was organised some time in advance of the PM’s Middle East visit, in discussion with the government. Two visits at the same time means one aircraft will always have to be chartered.”
The royal couple have certainly had a busy time on tour as they met with the head of the Roman Catholic Church Pope Francis on Tuesday (04.04.17) during their tour of Italy.
Charles and Camilla were given a tour of The Vatican, and were handed a bronze olive branch and a copy of the Pope’s Encyclicals, including one on climate change and sustainable development.

Duke and Duchess of Cambridge attend terrorist memorial service

OHMYGOSSIP — The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge attended a service on Wednesday (05.04.16) in honour of the victims caught up in the terrorist attack in London last month.
The royal couple were joined by William’s brother Prince Harry at the Service of Hope at Westminster Abbey – just minutes from where the incident unfolded – in the English capital as they supported the families of those who were injured or killed when Khalid Masood, who has since been shot dead, went on a murderous rampage in the city.
The 34-year-old royal – who has three-year-old son George and 23-month-old daughter Charlotte with his wife Catherine – laid a wreath of flowers at the Innocent Victims memorial outside the church as the trio arrived ahead of the service, according to the Express newspaper.
Upon entering the Abbey, the royals were greeted by London Mayor Sadiq Khan and Metropolitan Police Acting Commissioner Craig Mackey before making their way down the aisle and sitting on the front row with the emergency services.
The Dean of Westminster, the Very Reverend John Hall, lead the service before William gave a reading from the Bible before Dr Hall gave a speech.
He told the congregation: “We are all affected by the attack a fortnight ago on Westminster Bridge and at the gates of the Palace of Westminster, and we are all left bewildered and disturbed. But our sense of loss and diminishment is paled by comparison with that of the families of those who died: AyshaFrade, Kurt Cochran and Leslie Rhodes on the bridge, and Police Constable Keith Palmer on duty at the gates of Parliament, and all those who were injured.”

Prince Harry remembers late mother in emotional speech

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince Harry has remembered his late mother Princess Diana in an emotional speech in honour of International Mine Awareness Day.
The late royal was tragically killed in a car crash in Paris, France, in 1997, and just a few months before her death she was seen walking across a mine field in Angola as she campaigned for the world to be free of land mines.
Now, her 32-year-old son Prince Harry is continuing her work as he hosted a meeting at Kensington Palace on Tuesday (04.04.17) which called for the world to have completely banned the use of land mines by 2025.
Before making his speech, Harry introduced two men – named Malic and Žarko – to the audience, and revealed they had both met Princess Diana as young boys after they both lost legs to land mines in Bosnia.
Prince Harry said in his speech: “She shared their stories with the world, and helped campaigners – many of whom are in this room – to change history.
“Those two young boys, Malic and Žarko, are now grown men and are with us today. 20 years on, they both still struggle with their physical and emotional injuries and with the high costs of replacing their prosthetics.
“When my mother said goodbye to Žarko that August, just weeks before her untimely death, she told him he would not be forgotten.
“Please help me keep her word to Žarko and Malic, and other people like them throughout the world, who still need us to finish the job and rid the planet of landmines.
“Collectively we have the knowledge, skill, and resources to achieve it, so let’s make future generations proud.”
And Žarko, who is now 33 and unemployed, recalled meeting Harry’s mother as he spoke to the flame-haired royal after his speech.
He told Harry: “I was so surprised when I saw her. I could not believe my eyes – it was a princess, wearing blue jeans.
“I remember her words when she was leaving. She told us, ‘You are not going to be forgotten.’
“What she said gave me a lot of strength whenever I have had hard times.
“When she got killed I could not believe it. I felt like a part of me had disappeared. I had a sinking feeling.”
Meanwhile, Prince Harry also praised the efforts of his mother, saying that despite the backlash she received for bringing to light a topic that wasn’t “universally popular”, she continued her work in order to help people.
He said: “At the time, the attention my mother brought to this issue wasn’t universally popular. Some believed she had stepped over the line into the arena of political campaigning. But for her this wasn’t about politics; it was about people.”
