Prince Harry’s pal drops wedding hint

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince Harry’s friend has suggested the royal may already be planning to marry Meghan Markle.
The flame-haired royal and the ‘Suits’ actress have been dating since mid-2016, and his good pal Kirstie Ennis, a former US marine, has dropped a hint about them getting married.
Asked whether she would be attending the “upcoming” wedding, Kirstie nodded and then said: “I don’t think I’m worried about the wedding. I’m worried about the after party.”
Kirstie’s remarks come shortly after an insider claimed that Prince Harry and Meghan have become “total homebodies” in recent months.
The couple are apparently eager to escape the limelight and have decided to spend an increasing amount of time at home on their own.
A source source: “They’ve just been chilling at home. There’s always someone watching or trying to get pics when they go out that they’re pretty happy just staying in and doing nothing. They like to cook, watch movies and that kind of thing.”
Meanwhile, Meghan previously spoke about the pressures of having her life thrust in the spotlight because of her celebrity status and her high-profile relationship with the British royal.
The 35-year-old beauty – who has starred in ‘Suits’ since 2011 – said: “With fame comes opportunity, but it also includes responsibility.”

The Duchess of Cornwall hailed as a ‘beautiful person’

OHMYGOSSIP — The Duchess of Cornwall is a “beautiful person”, according to celebrity photographer Mario Testino.
The 62-year-old portrait photographer recently took a snap of the Duchess and her husband, the Prince of Wales, to mark her 70th birthday (17.07.17), and has also hailed the British royal.
Mario, who previously photographed the likes of the Duke of Cambridge and Prince Harry, said: “I’m honoured to document their royal highnesses the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall on this very important date.
“I first photographed the Duchess after her wedding to the Prince on a commission from British Vogue in 2006, and discovered a kind and beautiful person with a wonderful sense of humour.
“Doing this latest assignment to celebrate Her Royal Highness’s 70th birthday is a true honour.”
During her time in the spotlight, the Duchess has proven to be a divisive figure among Brits.
But the royal has insisted she has learned to laugh off most of the criticism she’s received.
Speaking in May, she said: “You’ve got to laugh through most things, and sometimes I do laugh a bit too much.
“There are situations where it’s very difficult not to lose it completely, especially, you know, if something goes terribly wrong and everybody sits there for a split second [not sure how to react]. You do have to swallow and pinch yourself very hard to not laugh.”

Prince Charles impersonates Harry Potter characters

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince Charles does “brilliant” impressions of ‘Harry Potter’ characters, according to the Duchess of Cornwall.
The 68-year-old British royal apparently loves to impersonate the characters from the popular book series when he reads to young children.
The Duchess said: “Sometimes, when we are with my husband in Scotland, he reads them ‘Harry Potter’.
“And he does all the voices, because he is a brilliant mimic. I’m not very good. I try to do the voices, but acting isn’t my forte. But he sits down and they all sit with him.
“I always think they are going to be wriggling around in the bed, but they sit spellbound.”
And according to the Duchess, Prince Charles – who is the father of Princes William and Harry – is brilliant with children.
Speaking to the Daily Mail newspaper, the Duchess – who married the Prince in 2005 – said: “He’s extremely good with children. They love it.”
By contrast, the Prince found himself in the middle of an awkward social situation when he met Spain’s Queen Letizia last week.
The Prince of Wales welcomed the brunette royal and her husband King Felipe for afternoon tea at Clarence House alongside his wife, but wasn’t sure whether to kiss her once or twice on the cheek.
The Prince was seen awkwardly clutching Letizia’s hand in a close embrace in which he looked to be eyeballing her, while the Duchess and Felipe were spotted trying to contain their amusement in the background.

Prince of Wales set to visit RAF base

OHMYGOSSIP — The Prince of Wales is set to visit the RAF base where Prince William previously served.
The 68-year-old royal is poised to take a tour of RAF Valley in Anglesey, where he will meet cadets, pilots and engineers at the site, which is where Prince William served during his time with the RAF Search and Rescue Force.
It is also where, in February 2016, Prince William and his wife, the Duchess of Cambridge, attended a ceremony that was staged to mark the closure of the UK’s search and rescue helicopter force.
The Prince’s planned engagement at RAF Valley will come shortly after he endured an awkward moment while greeting Spain’s Queen Letizia at Clarence House.
The Prince of Wales welcomed the brunette royal and her husband King Felipe for afternoon tea at the royal residence alongside his wife, the Duchess of Cornwall, on Wednesday (12.07.17).
But unfortunately for Prince Charles, he wasn’t sure whether to kiss her once or twice on the cheek.
The future King was, at one stage, seen awkwardly clutching Letizia’s hand in a close embrace in which he looked to be eyeballing her.
As this was happening, Camilla and Felipe were spotted looking on in amusement.
Meanwhile, prior to the memorably awkward moment, Felipe and Letizia enjoyed lunch at Buckingham Palace and later that evening they attended a state banquet as part of their three-day visit to the UK.
The Spanish royals – who married in 2004 – were originally supposed to undertake their tour in June, but it had to be postponed after British Prime Minister Theresa May announced there would be a General Election.

Duchess of Cornwall hosts pre-birthday bash

OHMYGOSSIP — The Duchess of Cornwall hosted a pre-birthday bash at Clarence House on Thursday (13.07.17).
The British royal – who officially turns 70 on July 17 – was joined by a star-studded list of guests that included the likes of Joanna Lumley, Paul O’Grady and Darcey Bussell, as she hosted a garden party at the royal residence.
The Duchess and Prince Charles are poised to spend the weekend at their home in Gloucestershire, Highgrove, and are planning to have a private party at the house.
But before then, though, the Duchess was joined by some familiar faces in the grounds of Clarence House, where Prince Charles was also seen mingling with guests.
The Duchess has proven to be a divisive figure among Brits over the years – but she recently insisted she’s learned to laugh off the criticism.
The Duchess also said that, contrary to popular perception, she actually loves getting to meet and socialise with different people.
She explained: “I genuinely like people and I’m so curious about them. Other people’s lives are so much more interesting than one’s own. It’s like going to a dinner where I almost feel like I am a psychiatrist.
“When I sit down with my team before an engagement, sometimes they are horrified as I say I don’t want to read the biographical brief because I prefer to prise information out of people. It becomes like a game … the stories that come out, I could write a book about.”

Prince George ‘doesn’t like physical sports’

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince George isn’t a fan of “physical” sports.
The three-year-old son of Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge isn’t keen on playing aggressive games, with the 35-year-old royal admitting to England women’s soccer star Casey Stoney that he does not enjoy getting physical when playing sports.
After a meeting with the future King, Casey shared: “[William] said at the moment he’s trying to teach George that football is actually a contact sport.
“But George doesn’t really like it when he’s palming him off and getting physical.”
Despite this, Prince William is apparently determined to improve his son’s soccer skills, while he is also eager for two-year-old Princess Charlotte to develop an interest in sports.
Casey explained: “He said he’s really encouraging his kids to get involved with sport.”
Prince William is president of the UK’s Football Association, and recently took some time out of his jam-packed schedule to have a kick around with the England’s women’s team.
One of the Lionesses players, Jill Scott, admitted to being disappointed about conceding a goal against the royal.
Jill shared: “He scored, so I’m a bit gutted to be honest. I was getting competitive.
“He was good. He was actually good.”
Prince William is well known for supporting Aston Villa and previously revealed how he came to follow the Midlands club.
He explained: “I got into football big time, and was looking around for clubs.
“All my school friends were either Manchester United or Chelsea fans, and I didn’t want to follow the run of the mill teams.
“I wanted to have a team that would give me more of an emotional rollercoaster, which looking back, was a bad idea!”

Duchess of Cambridge reveals one of the joys of parenting

OHMYGOSSIP — The Duchess of Cambridge has loved seeing her children fall in love with nature.
The 35-year-old royal made reference to her two children – Prince George, three, and Princess Charlotte, two – in a speech she gave to mark the reopening of Hintze Hall at the Natural History Museum in London.
During her speech, the Duchess explained: “Like many of you here tonight, I remember visiting the Natural History Museum as a child, and being inspired with a love of nature.
“And now, as a parent myself, I am experiencing the joy all over again with my own children, who adore coming here, and it is not just to see the T-Rex mind you.
“Who could fail to be inspired standing here in this wonderful hall.”
This comes shortly after tennis legend Andre Agassi described the Duchess as a “real sweetheart”.
Agassi sat next to the British royal during the 2012 Wimbledon Championships and has fond memories of his meeting with the Duchess.
The retired sports star, who is married to Grand Slam-winning champion Steffi Graf, shared: “We sat next to each other and watched the semi-finals about five years ago.
“She’s a sweetheart of a lady. She’s a real sweetheart.”
Later, Agassi added: “I don’t know her well and quite honestly I don’t get the whole royalty thing – in the sense that they’re celebrities on steroids or something.
“I can empathise with some of that, but it’s fascinating to watch from the outside. You have to be on your game all the time!”

Prince Harry attends Dunkirk premiere in London

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince Harry met World War Two veterans and stars of the film ‘Dunkirk’ at its world premiere in London on Thursday (13.07.17).
The 32-year-old royal greeted the movie’s star-studded cast that includes the likes of Harry Styles, Tom Hardy and Sir Kenneth Branagh at the Odeon in Leicester Square, where the premiere was staged.
He was accompanied on the red carpet by 96-year-old veteran George Wagner, while he was later seen shaking hands with Styles, who is making his movie debut in the Christopher Nolan-directed war film.
Prior to the premiere, Prince Harry also met veterans of Dunkirk, who recalled their experiences of the evacuation to the royal.
The movie itself centres on the story of efforts to evacuate troops from the beaches of Dunkirk between May 26 and June 4 in 1940.
Despite the interest surrounding Styles’ appearance in the movie, the One Direction star previously insisted he didn’t have time to worry about “anything too personal” on the set of ‘Dunkirk’.
Styles insisted his focus was always on the film’s success, rather than what critics would think about his own performance.
He previously said: “I think for me when I first heard, that Chris was making this film, I was kinda already excited to watch it.
“I think it’s something I’ve always been excited for had I had absolutely no involvement, and I think other than the urge to want to get involved in it and try to you know, try to do anything to be a part of it. I can’t say I really thought too much other than that about it.”

Prince Charles’ awkward encounter

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince Charles suffered an awkward moment while greeting Spain’s Queen Letizia.
The Prince of Wales welcomed the brunette royal and her husband King Felipe for afternoon tea at Clarence House alongside his wife Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, yesterday (12.07.17), but wasn’t sure whether to kiss her once or twice on the cheek.
Charles, 68, was seen awkwardly clutching Letizia’s hand in a close embrace in which he looked to be eyeballing her.
Camilla and Felipe were spotted looking on in amusement.
Beforehand, Felipe and Letizia enjoyed lunch at Buckingham Palace and later that evening they attended a state banquet as part of their three-day visit to the UK.
The Spanish royal couple – who married in 2004 – were due to undergo their tour in June but it had to be postponed after British Prime Minister Theresa May announced there would be a General Election.
A notice on the official Royal Family website said at the time: “Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and His Majesty King Felipe VI of Spain have agreed that, in light of the General Election, the planned State Visit to the United Kingdom from 6th to 8th June 2017 by King Felipe and Queen Letizia should be postponed.
“The Visit will now take place on 12th to 14th July 2017.”

Princess Anne celebrates RAF 101 Squadron’s centenary

OHMYGOSSIP — Princess Anne has celebrated the 100th anniversary of the RAF’s 101 Squadron.
The Princess Royal visited RAF Brize Norton in Oxfordshire, central England, on Wednesday (12.07.17) to commend the work of the group known as the “most famous unknown squadron” in the UK’s Royal Air force.
She said: “It’s extraordinary to be able to celebrate this centenary on the same day this squadron was formed in July 1917 – another squadron older than the RAF to celebrate its formation.
“It is appropriate on this day we shall remember what the squadron’s history contains – or some of what it contains, otherwise we could be here for some time.”
Several veterans were in attendance to hear the 66-year-old royal speak about the history of the squadron over its century in existence.
The 101 Squadron pioneered night bombing in World War I and flew as part of Bomber Command in World War II.
The squadron – which suffered the heaviest casualties in World War II – still operates nowadays in the Middle East.
Group Captain Tim Jones is quoted by the Oxford Mail as saying: “101 Squadron has been one of our busiest squadrons in all the years it has served, not least during the Second World War.
“More recently they’ve been delivering air-to-air refuelling all over the Middle East, which is a reminder of how operationally relevant it is and why it’s important to come together and celebrate.
“This is bound to be a poignant day for both current members and veterans.”
One veteran told ITV News: “Once the air force gets in your blood it never leaves it. I’m still RAF 101 Squadron.”

Queen Elizabeth commends Spanish relationship

OHMYGOSSIP — Queen Elizabeth commended the “dynamic and modern” relationship between Spain and the UK at a state banquet yesterday (12.07.17).
The 91-year-old monarch and Prince Philip held the event at Buckingham Palace to welcome Spain’s King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia to London, and the queen called for the two countries to stick together “whatever challenges arise” in the future.
She said: “The relationship between our two nations is dynamic and modern. We are NATO allies, striving together to improve security in Europe and across the globe.
“Our armed forces are currently working side by side in the Very High Readiness Joint Task Force, led last year by Spain and now by the United Kingdom.
“We remain deeply committed to the common defence and freedom of our countries.
“There are so many facets to our shared experiences and close connections.
“Indeed, the lives of our peoples themselves are more intertwined than ever before. Thousands of Spanish students are studying at British universities, and Spanish scientists are working with British colleagues to tackle disease.
“We are also significant investors in each other’s economies, with the United Kingdom being the principal European recipient of Spanish overseas investment.
“A relationship like ours, founded on such great strengths and common interests, will ensure that both our nations prosper, now and in the future, whatever challenges arise. With such a remarkable shared history, it is inevitable that there are matters on which we have not always seen eye to eye.
“But the strength of our friendship has bred a resilient spirit of cooperation and goodwill.”
Elizabeth also recalled Felipe’s father King Juan Carlos, 79, speaking “proudly” of his son when he visited Buckingham Palace 31 years ago.
She added: “Prince Philip and I recall with affection the State Visit of 1986 made by your parents, during which King Juan Carlos addressed both Houses of Parliament.
“His Majesty was the first foreign monarch ever to do so, which was a tribute to his role in Spain’s transition to democracy and acknowledgment that he was a King for all Spaniards.
“Your father spoke proudly about Your Majesty that day. You had just come of age, swearing loyalty in your Parliament to the Spanish Constitution.
“These years later, those duties are now yours, supporting Spain’s thriving democracy.
“It is therefore altogether fitting that Your Majesty, too, has addressed our Houses of Parliament today.”
Prince William and his wife, Duchess Catherine, Prince Charles and his wife, Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, and Prince Harry were also in attendance at the state banquet.

Prince Harry’s big painting spend confirmed

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince Harry spent thousands on a painting believed to be for his girlfriend.
The 32-year-old royal was rumoured to have splashed out on a Van Donna piece called Everybody Needs Somebody in October 2016, and it has now been confirmed that he did buy the artwork shortly before his relationship with Meghan Markle went public.
A local art collector told PEOPLE magazine: “Harry is one of the regulars in the area and regularly goes into the shops and galleries with his bodyguard, kind of in stealth mode.
“He was in the gallery for a little while and liked a few things, then settled on the Van Donna. He said he was looking for something for ‘an important person.’
“It was literally just before anyone heard about Meghan — literally just days before it was announced he was going out with her.”
Van Donna – whose name is a pseudonym made up of a mixture of Van Gogh and Madonna’s monikers – confirmed last week that Harry purchased one of her paintings.
She wrote on Twitter: “OMG! So excited that Harry has acquired my paintings for his collection! Yay!!! (sic)”
Harry made the purchase from a VIP section of Walton Fine Arts gallery in Kensington, west London.
The prince is said to have requested that the acrylic, stencil and spray piece could be split in half so it could be shared between two people.
The collector added: “Harry asked if he could split the diptych up.
“He said, ‘If it’s possible?’ I guess you could do that quite easily if you wanted to, but this is an artwork in itself. I mean, it is supposed to form a single artwork.
“At the time nobody knew about Meghan Markle, but if it was for her then it’s a very romantic gesture. It’s a bit like a charm bracelet — where you give half of it to someone you’re involved with and keep the other half yourself.
“We should all learn something from it, I think.”
However, it is not known for definite that he gave part of the artwork to the ‘Suits’ star, who he has been dating for around a year.

Prince Philip in ‘final ceremonial engagement’

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince Philip began his final ceremonial engagement by welcoming Spain’s King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia to London yesterday (12.07.17).
The Duke of Edinburgh, 96, has two further engagements left in his calendar ahead of his retirement from royal duties in the autumn, and he was on fine form on Wednesday in what is rumoured to be his final ceremonial commitment.
Philip accompanied Letizia, 44, in a horse-drawn carriage which travelled along Horse Guards Parade towards Buckingham Palace.
He seemed to be in great spirits as he appeared to make some jokes during their transit, and was spotted pointing things out to the brunette royal.
The duke has to attend the Annual Meeting at the Royal Geographical Society next week and a reception at Canada House.
Following the announcement of his retirement, a Buckingham Palace statement said: “His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh has decided that he will no longer carry out public engagements from the autumn of this year. In taking this decision, the duke has the full support of the queen.
“Prince Philip will attend previously scheduled engagements between now and August, both individually and accompanying the queen. Thereafter, the duke will not be accepting new invitations for visits and engagements, although he may still choose to attend certain public events from time to time.
“The Duke of Edinburgh is patron, president or a member of over 780 organisations, with which he will continue to be associated, although he will no longer play an active role by attending engagements.
“Her Majesty will continue to carry out a full programme of official engagements with the support of members of the Royal Family.”
Philip was admitted to hospital last month as a “precautionary measure” after an infection related to a “pre-existing condition” re-surfaced, but left the medical facility two days later.

Prince Charles strikes coin dedicated to his father

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince Charles struck a new coin dedicated to his father when he visited the Royal Mint on Tuesday (11.07.17).
The 68-year-old royal was given the task of striking a commemorative coin that marks Prince Philip’s retirement from public duties, which was announced in May.
The £5 coin has an image of the Duke of Edinburgh one side with the latin phrase “Non sibi sed patriae”, which means “not for self, but country” on it whilst the other side is a picture of The Queen.
During his visit, Charles was also given a tour of the Royal Mint’s factory and visitor centre in Llantrisant, Rhondda Cynon Taf, Wales.
Gordon Summers, chief engraver for the Royal Mint, said: “The image of the Duke of Edinburgh was taken from a prize medal from the 1970s. We are already working on a coin for Prince Charles’ 70th birthday, and I showed him the design for it. He asked what references we had used. We had a photography session with him about a year ago.
“We did not alter the image of his father, so his father looks younger than him on the coins. He did say ‘my father got to choose a younger portrait.'”
The Duke of Edinburgh has personally approved the design of the coin, which is set to be made in silver and gold.
It is not the only coin Prince Philip has been celebrated on as a Silver Proof £5 was made six years ago to mark the Duke of Edinburgh’s 90th birthday.
The coin had a mintage of just 4,599, making it one of the rarest coins for collectors.

Prince Harry becomes journalist for the day

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince Harry became a journalist for the day when he interviewed a Paralympics champion.
The flame-haired royal is usually in front of the camera being interviewed himself but there was a change of roles when he chatted to former Army captain Dave Henson, who lost both legs above the knee after stepping on a mine in Helmand Province in 2011, as he prepares to take part in the Para Athletics Championships.
Henson was fitted with artificial legs and after hard work, perseverance and gruelling training, he won a bronze medal for Great Britain at the Rio Paralympics last year and has now turned his attention to the London championships, which begin on Friday (14.07.17).
He said: “I was still very early on in my recovery and rehab stage, it was a little bit of inspiration because it was suddenly an exposure to people absolutely smashing sport.
“I went to the Olympic Park a couple of times and it was just such an incredible atmosphere, everyone was so happy.”
Prince Harry urged the public to support the championships by getting themselves some tickets to the event.
He said: “Buy your tickets, get down there, bring your family and friends and come down and support. Be there with everybody else, creating that atmosphere that’s going to be a life-changing moment for Dave and everyone else.”
And Henson hopes he will finish the championship with a medal.
He added: “I don’t have a World Championship medal, so to take one of those home would be just incredible. I’d love to come away from it with a World Championship medal around my neck
“Spectators will see the world’s best Para athletes compete in one of the world’s most iconic sports venues. Every single member of the GB team, every single athlete that has qualified is an incredible sportsperson.”

Prince Charles meets goat

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince Charles met a goat on Tuesday (11.07.17) as he continued his tour of Wales.
The Prince of Wales met with the Royal Welsh’s regimental goat, Shenkin III, and Goat Major Sergeant Mark Jackson at the Regimental Museum of The Royal Welsh.
Asked what the goat likes to eat by the royal, Sgt Jackson revealed: “Savoy cabbage and cheese and onion crisps.”
Following a tour of the museum by retired Colonel Timothy Van-Rees, who is also executive chair of trustees, Prince Charles met with Elliot Ngubane, a Zulu warrior.
Ngubane – who was dressed in traditional attire – works for Sibanye, who are responsible for organising Zulu War reenactments between South Africa and the UK.
He said: “[The Prince was] absolutely interested … It is a history that we want the young people to know about not just to be like animals who don’t know where they come from.”
Elsewhere on his Welsh tour, Prince Charles called for there to be a bigger priority put on tackling “terrifying environmental issues”.
Speaking at a sustainability conference in Llandovery College, Carmarthenshire, he said: “This is not backward-looking and anti-science, it is reinstating the discarded baby that was rashly removed with the bath water …
“This is why I find it so unbelievable when people ask why we should bother with the conservation and protection of the Earth’s dwindling biodiversity, or why we should strive to make the terrifying environmental issues we now face such a priority. It is, of course, the diversity of life on Earth which actually enables us to have our being.
“Deplete it, reduce it, erode and destroy it and we will succeed in causing such disorder that we risk derailing humanity’s place on Earth for good. This is why I have been trying to say for so long that we have to look urgently at what will restore nature’s balance before it is finally too late – and that moment, I hate to say, is upon us.”
