Queen Elizabeth sends prayers to Mexico earthquake victims

OHMYGOSSIP — Queen Elizabeth has sent her “thoughts and prayers” to those affected by the devastating earthquake which struck Mexico this week.
The 91-year-old monarch has said she is “deeply saddened” by the news of the 7.1 magnitude quake that hit the country’s capital Mexico City earlier this week, and has sent her “condolences” to the families of the 225 people who have been killed by the natural disaster.
In a message sent to the President of Mexico Enrique Peña Nieto and published on official website for the Royal Family, she wrote: “I was deeply saddened to learn of the loss of life and the devastation following the terrible earthquake yesterday in Mexico.
“That it happened so soon after the powerful earthquake that hit southern Mexico less than two weeks ago is all the more concerning.
“Prince Philip and I send our sincere condolences to the victims of this disaster, to those who have lost loved ones, and to those who have seen their homes and property destroyed.
“My thoughts and prayers are with those affected.
“Elizabeth R.”
The Queen’s statement comes after she released a similar message of condolence to those affected by Hurricane Harvey which hit the US state of Texas last month.
She said at the time: “I was deeply saddened to learn of the loss of life and the devastation following the recent terrible floods caused by Hurricane Harvey.
“Prince Philip and I send our sincere condolences to the victims of this disaster, to those who have lost loved ones, and to those who have seen their homes and property destroyed. My thoughts and prayers are with those affected.
“Elizabeth R.”
Meanwhile, celebrities such as actress Salma Hayek and Formula 1 racer Sergio Perez have donated generously to charities aimed at helping those who have been affected by the disaster, whilst singer Shakira has urged her fans to give what they can to the cause.

Queen Elizabeth’s toys to be auctioned off

OHMYGOSSIP — Queen Elizabeth’s childhood toys are set to head to auction.
The selection of dolls played with by the 91-year-old monarch and her sister Princess Margaret will go under the hammer alongside a selection of Her Majesty’s childhood clothes when the family of Clara Knight – who was formerly the nurse to the two royals when they were younger – takes them to auction at Burstow & Hewett Auction House.
Clara, who passed away in 1946, was given the items in the 1920s and 30s when she worked for the royal family, and gave them to her own family when she passed.
But now, the family have decided to auction the items off, after they were sat in boxes for years in their family home.
The items in the collection include two Mickey and Minnie Mouse dolls made by the traditional British toy maker Dean’s Rag Book Company, as well as a felt doll which is believed to have come from the 1930s.
Also included in the auction will be a variety of baby clothes worn by the Queen, including silk dresses and colourful playsuits, one of which is featured in an accompanying photograph of the future monarch sat on Clara’s lap.
The clothing is expected to sell for £1,500, while the dolls are each valued at £300.
Matt Ellin, specialist at Burstow & Hewett, of Battle, East Sussex, said: “The collection came to us in amongst many other household items from an ordinary local house. The owners thought the collection was interesting but were very unassuming about the content.
“Clara lived and worked extremely closely with the royal family and was given these clothes and dolls from time to time which she would then send to her family. It appears she came to the royal family in 1926 when Elizabeth was born and spent many years looking after both the Queen and Princess Margaret.
“It’s a historic collection and we are expecting worldwide interest.”

Meghan Markle’s half brother ‘hopes’ for Prince Harry proposal

OHMYGOSSIP — Meghan Markle’s half brother “hopes” Prince Harry proposes soon.
The 36-year-old actress’ half brother Thomas Markle Jr. has described his sibling as a “hot commodity”, and thinks her royal beau Prince Harry – whom she has been romancing since July 2016 – should get a move on and pop the question to her soon.
Speaking to the Daily Mail newspaper, Thomas said: “I hope Prince Harry proposes. She’s a hot commodity right now – he better get on it. I do have a sense of pride in Meghan being successful. It was just obvious from day one that she was destined to be somewhere really big. She’s always been a princess. She’s carried herself on that level from day one.”
Thomas, 51, also described his large extended family being linked with the monarchy as “‘Dukes of Hazzard’ and ‘The Simpsons’ versus the Royal Family,” and even offered to help organise 33-year-old Harry’s stag do, should he eventually propose.
His comments come after Meghan recently claimed in a Vanity Fair interview that she and Harry are “in love”.
She said: “We’re a couple. We’re in love. I’m sure there will be a time when we will have to come forward and present ourselves and have stories to tell, but I hope what people will understand is that this is our time. This is for us. It’s part of what makes it so special, that it’s just ours. But we’re happy. Personally, I love a great love story.”
And royal commentator Richard Fitzpatrick also recently claimed the interview’s “unprecedented” nature could mean a proposal is on the cards.
He said: “All the signs have pointed that way for some time. The Vanity Fair interview was unorthodox and unprecedented so I expect an engagement at any time. It is so clear Meghan, actress, humanitarian activist and someone who has had to fight her way to the top, is ideal for him.”

Queen Elizabeth called in vets for her beloved dogs

OHMYGOSSIP — Queen Elizabeth has reportedly called in a vet amid fears her beloved dogs could get sick.
The 91-year-old monarch is believed to have requested the presence of the Animal Health Trust veterinary charity to investigate a mystery seasonal illness which can be contracted by canines on the royal’s Sandringham estate, according to the Daily Express newspaper.
In 2014, a number of dogs caught and were later killed by the illness after visiting Sandringham, and the Queen – who is known to be smitten with her beloved corgis – is taking no chances when it comes to the health of her favourite mutts.
The illness, named simply Seasonal Canine Illness, has been rife on the grounds of the estate since 2009, and can reportedly be found in other woodland areas as well.
The cause of the disease – which is categorised by vomiting, diarrhoea and lethargy – has not been pinpointed by veterinarians but it is believed bacteria, blue-green algae or fungal spores are responsible.
Queen Elizabeth is so concerned about the disease – shortened to SCI – that a warning to visitors of the estate has been posted on its website, cautioning any dog owners to take their pooch to the vet immediately if any of the symptoms appear.
The notice read: “We are approaching the time of year when cases of Seasonal Canine Illness appear in some dogs walked in the Country Park.
“SCI symptoms include lethargy, vomiting and diarrhoea and some dogs have died of this illness. Dog owners should keep their dogs on leads and under close control, and may wish to consider topical spray treatments for mites. Dogs showing any signs of SCI symptoms should be seen by a vet immediately.
“In recent years, during autumn, several dogs walked in woodlands suddenly became ill. In some cases, dogs did not recover. Please see the poster for more information from the Animal Health Trust.”
A downloadable poster is available on the Sandringham estate website, which details what to do if a pooch starts to display SCI symptoms.

Prince Harry to move into Clarence House?

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince Harry could be set to move in to Clarence House when Prince Charles become King.
The 68-year-old royal is set to become the next monarch when the reign of his mother, 91-year-old Queen Elizabeth, comes to an end, and despite recent reports that Charles doesn’t want to move to the official royal residence of Buckingham Palace, it seems his youngest son Prince Harry could move into Charles’ current home after he takes up the role as the King.
The Daily Express newspaper has claimed the 33-year-old royal and his actress girlfriend Meghan Markle are lined up to take up residence in the four-storey London mansion after Charles and his wife Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, move to the palace.
It comes after a spokesperson for the royal family insisted that Buckingham Palace would continue to serve as the residence of the monarch, despite claims Charles isn’t happy about the thought moving.
They said: “Buckingham Palace will remain the official London residence of the monarch.”
If Prince Harry – who currently resides at Nottingham Cottage on the grounds of Kensington Palace – doesn’t take up residence at Clarence House, it has also been reported the home could be used as offices for parts of the Royal Household, although it is likely no final decision will be made until after Charles becomes King.
Meanwhile, it is believed a factor contributing to Charles’ reluctance to move house is because he is concerned about how costly it will be to maintain the 775 rooms, and keep Buckingham Palace in pristine condition all year round.
And on top of the cleaning fees, Charles is also worried by the news that tax payer’s will reportedly have to fund the £370-million renovation the royal headquarters are due to undergo, which are believed to take 10 years to fully complete.

Prince William talks with recovering addicts about legalisation

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince William has asked recovering addicts about their opinions on legalising drugs.
The 35-year-old royal visited Spitalfields Crypt Trust – a charity in Shoreditch, east London, that helps homeless addicts – on Tuesday (19.09.17) to speak to a number of recovering drug addicts about the work the charity does, and took a moment to ask their opinion on the ongoing debate about the legalisation of addictive substances.
Speaking to Jason Malham, 45, from Melbourne, Heather Blackburn, 49, and Grace Gunn, 19, both from London, William said: “There’s obviously a lot of pressure growing on areas about legalising drugs. What are your individual opinions on that? I know it’s a big question, but you seem like the key people to actually get a very good idea as what the big dangers there are – what are your feelings?”
Heather then admitted that whilst she understands why drugs are illegal, the money put into drug laws is “wasted”, as the people who are put in prison for drug related offences “don’t get the facilities and actual help” that they need to end their addictions.
She said: “I think that it would be a good idea but the money is kind of wasted on drug laws, that put people in prison…most of the people I’ve known in recovery, 95 per cent have massive trauma and terrible stuff happen to them and using drugs to cope and then you get put in prison you don’t get the facilities and actual help you need. You get punished – which is not going to stop anyone taking drugs.”
William then asked: “So there needs to be more of a social element to it? So prison doesn’t tackle the root cause of why someone is taking drugs?”
To which Heather added: “No, it just punishes.”
Prince William – who is expecting his third child with his wife Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, with whom he already has Prince George, four, and Princess Charlotte, two – was later praised by the charity’s chief executive for his visit.
Steve Coles said after the visit: “He genuinely wanted to come to listen and learn. I thought it was a very interesting question [about legalising drugs]. I think he’s open, he wants to listen and get that first-hand experience. It’s a big question and it’s quite a contentious question in many ways.”
And Sheona Alexander, the charity’s director of services, added: “I thought it was really interesting that he asked about whether we should legalise drugs. I liked the fact that he wanted to talk to people on the front line.”

Princess Anne meets with IOC in Peru

OHMYGOSSIP — Princess Anne has visited Peru for a meeting with the International Olympic Committee.
The 67-year-old royal made a trip to the Peruvian capital of Lima to attend the IOC session in which eight new members were elected to the committee – of which Anne is a member – and saw the next two summer games awarded to the cities of Paris, France, in 2024, and Los Angeles, California, in 2028.
The Princess Royal has been a member of the IOC since 1988, and regularly attends the Olympic Games, which are held every four years in a different country each time.
Princess Anne has also previously competed in the Olympic Games, taking part in the horse riding event at the 1976 Montreal games on her mother Queen Elizabeth’s horse Goodwill.
Whilst in Peru, Anne was hosted by the British Ambassador to Peru Anwar Choudhury, and attended a #FoodisGreat dinner, where British dishes were served with a unique Peruvian twist.
The Princess Royal also attended a reception hosted by The Vine Trust – a charity which tackles severe poverty in Tanzania and Peru, and of which Anne is the royal patron – where she spoke about the charity’s Amazon Hope Medical Project in Peru, which provides basic health and dental care to over 160 remote communities in the Peruvian Amazon.
And that’s not all the Princess got up to on her visit to the South American country either, as she also paid a visit to the International Potato Center’s new gene bank in Lima to see how scientists there are working to end world hunger.
The International Potato Center is a non-profit organisation which was founded in 1971 as a root and tuber research-for-development institution, and aims to deliver sustainable solutions to the pressing world problems of hunger, poverty, and the degradation of natural resources.

Prince Harry to propose ‘at any time’

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince Harry could propose to girlfriend Meghan Markle “at any time”.
The 33-year-old royal has been romancing the ‘Suits’ actress since mid 2016, and although rumours of an engagement have been circling for months, royal commentator Richard Fitzpatrick believes the announcement could be closer than people think.
Richard believes Meghan’s Vanity Fair interview in which she states the couple are “in love” marks an important turning point for the pair, as the “unprecedented” comment could be reflective of the seriousness of their romance.
Speaking to Express.co.uk, Richard said: “All the signs have pointed that way for some time. The Vanity Fair interview was unorthodox and unprecedented so I expect an engagement at any time. It is so clear Meghan, actress, humanitarian activist and someone who has had to fight her way to the top, is ideal for him.”
But Richard also warned the pair that if they are planning on tying the knot, the increase in attention on Meghan, 36, could prove “hard to bear”.
He added: “She is used to dealing with the media but this will be a challenge for them both.”
The news comes after Meghan claimed in her interview earlier this month that the pair are “really happy”, and insisted the only thing which has changed about her is “people’s perceptions”.
She said: “I can tell you that at the end of the day I think it’s really simple.
“We’re two people who are really happy and in love. We were very quietly dating for about six months before it became news, and I was working during that whole time, and the only thing that changed was people’s perception.
“Nothing about me changed. I’m still the same person that I am, and I’ve never defined myself by my relationship.
“We’re a couple. We’re in love. I’m sure there will be a time when we will have to come forward and present ourselves and have stories to tell, but I hope what people will understand is that this is our time. This is for us. It’s part of what makes it so special, that it’s just ours. But we’re happy. Personally, I love a great love story.”

Prince William to meet Sir David Attenborough

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince William is set to meet Sir David Attenborough next week.
The 35-year-old royal will be attending a special screening of the iconic broadcaster’s upcoming wildlife documentary series ‘Blue Planet II’ at the BFI Imax Cinema at Waterloo next Wednesday (27.09.17).
William will get the chance to meet the 91-year-old naturalist as well as composer Hans Zimmer and selected guests and schoolchildren who have also been invited to the special screening.
Before the screening starts, the royal – who is currently expecting his third child with his wife Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge – will meet with schoolchildren from Lionel Primary School in Brentford as they take part in quizzes and see some of the technology used to film the series, including the megadome camera and a live demonstration of the full breathing apparatus used for underwater filming.
William and the other guests will then be treated to a sneak preview of the first episode of ‘Blue Planet II’, which is set to air on BBC One later this year.
Prince William will be carrying out the engagement on is own, as his pregnant wife Catherine, also 35, is currently suffering with Hyperemesis Gravidarum – a debilitating form of serious morning sickness – as she did with her two previous pregnancies when carrying four-year-old Prince George and two-year-old Princess Charlotte.
Meanwhile, the couple are reportedly set to pick a “down to earth” moniker to bestow on their unborn tot.
Global naming director at Siegel + Gale, Christian Turner, said recently: “The key consideration when naming a royal baby is the fine balance between tradition and accessibility.
“The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will want the fifth-in-line to the throne to bear a name worthy of such weight, and it’s therefore likely they will choose a solid, traditional name with strong links to royalty.
“At the same time, they won’t want to appear old-fashioned or haughty, so choosing a name the public can embrace is equally important.
“George and Charlotte are excellent examples of names that strike the balance perfectly; royal by tradition, solid in heritage, both names have enjoyed a resurgence over the last decade, and it’s not uncommon to hear either name being called in the local playground. This is common of the style of this generation of royals, who want to be more down-to-earth than their predecessors.”

Princess Alexandra visits HMS Warrior

OHMYGOSSIP — Princess Alexandra has celebrated the 30th anniversary of the HMS Warrior’s return to Portsmouth.
The 80-year-old royal – who is a cousin of the monarch Queen Elizabeth II – is the royal patron of HMS Warrior Preservation Trust, and visited the coastal city on Monday (18.09.17) to mark the milestone anniversary of the Victorian battleship’s historic return to its dock at Portsmouth harbour.
The Royal Family Twitter account confirmed the news with a series of tweets including pictures of Alexandra – who is also known as The Honourable Lady Ogilvy – aboard the impressive ship.
The tweets read: “Princess Alexandra has visited @HMSWarrior1860 to mark the 30th anniversary of the Victorian battleship’s return to Portsmouth.
“HRH, Patron of the HMS Warrior Preservation Trust, was able to meet a number of staff & volunteers and was given an update on repair works.
“In March 1863 Warrior escorted the yacht that brought HRH’s great-grandmother, Princess Alexandra, to Britain to marry The Prince of Wales. (sic)”
The Princess’ visit marks the first time she has been to the site in two years, as she previously visited in 2015 to formally open the Heritage Lottery Funded (HLF) Project, which will allow for vital repair works that will secure the future of the ship.
Princess Alexandra isn’t the only royal to have visited Portsmouth for naval reasons recently, as earlier this year Princess Anne opened up the Princess Royal Jetty which would be home to the Queen Elizabeth aircraft carrier that docked last month.
The Princess Royal Jetty is named as such after Anne herself, who bares the title of Princess Royal as she is the only daughter of the monarch, Queen Elizabeth.
During her visit, Princess Anne also unveiled a plaque at Portsmouth Naval Base to commemorate the opening of the jetty, which was previously known as the Middle Ship Jetty before undergoing its redevelopment.

Duchess Catherine urges children to talk about mental health

OHMYGOSSIP — Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, has urged children to talk about their mental health in a new charity campaign video.
The 35-year-old royal – who is currently expecting her third child with her husband Prince William – has given a short speech in aid of the You’re Never Too Young To Talk Mental Health campaign, which is aimed at getting young children to open up about their feelings.
Her video message serves as the introduction to a short animation co-produced by children and teachers in association with the Anna Freud National Centre for Children and Families, which details different mental health scenarios and tells children how they can cope if they have problems.
Catherine – who already has four-year-old son Prince George and two-year-old daughter Princess Charlotte with her spouse – says in the video: “Hello. Mental health is how we feel and think, things that can’t really be seen but that affect us every day, and talking about them can feel difficult. A charity called the Anna Freud National Centre for Children and Families have made this animation with children just like you. It helps us all talk about our mental health, what to say, and who to talk to when we have feelings that are too big to manage on our own. And how to listen and help if one of our friends is finding things difficult. Sometimes, it’s just a simple conversation that can make things better.”
It isn’t the first time the Duchess has spoken about mental health in young children either, as she previously said it was “important” for parents to talk to their children about these issues.
She said: “As parents, we all want our children to have the best possible start in life.
“Encouraging children to understand and be open about their feelings can give them the skills to cope with the ups and downs that life will throw at them as they grow up.
“It’s important that our children understand that emotions are normal and that they have the confidence to ask for help if they are struggling.”

Meghan Markle to attend Invictus Games

OHMYGOSSIP — Meghan Markle is expected to join Prince Harry at the Invictus Games this month.
The 33-year-old royal will be heading to Toronto, Canada, at the end of the month to host the annual sporting event for injured and disabled service men and women, and it has now been reported that his girlfriend and actress Meghan could be attending to support the flame-haired hunk.
Insiders told People magazine that 35-year-old Meghan will likely attend the games in an unofficial capacity, meaning that she will be cheering from the stands in the crowd, rather than standing at Harry’s side in an official role.
However, it was previously reported that Meghan – who has been in a relationship with Prince Harry for over a year – would be appearing at the games in an official role, marking the couple’s first official engagement together since going public with their romance.
No matter what capacity the ‘Suits’ actress attend the event in, it will mark the second sporting themed public event the pair have attended together, after they were spotted at a charity polo match in May.
The news comes as rumours of an engagement have recently heightened after the royal’s 33rd birthday last week.
And previously, Prince Charles and his wife Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, were said to be keen for the flame-haired royal to settle down.
A source said: “Harry’s father is just keen for him to settle down and be happy.
“Both Charles and Camilla are understood to have held back from expressing views, keen that Harry should have his own space to make his own decision.”
The Invictus Games will run from September 23 to September 30.

The Prince of Wales is ‘committed to supporting’ Queen Elizabeth II

OHMYGOSSIP — The Prince of Wales is “committed to supporting” Queen Elizabeth II.
The 68-year-old royal is first in line to the throne when his mother abdicates, and despite recent claims there have been internal disputes between Buckingham Palace and Prince Charles, it is believed Charles “and the entire royal family” support the 91-year-old monarch in “whatever way they can”, the Guardian Online has reported.
A spokesperson for the royal household said: “Indeed, recent years have seen an ever-closer working relationship between all the different royal households and their respective teams.
“The Prince of Wales and the entire royal family are committed to supporting the Queen in whatever way they can at Her Majesty’s request.”
This news comes shortly after Sir Christopher Geidt, who served as the Queen’s private secretary for a decade which saw him liaise between the monarch and Downing Street, announced he would be stepping down from his position next month.
The spokesperson continued: “While we never comment on the confidential employment details of individuals, it was previously announced in July that Sir Christopher Geidt is stepping down after 10 years as private secretary.
“At the time of the announcement, the lord chamberlain paid tribute to the major contribution made by Sir Christopher who, in turn, commended the support offered to Her Majesty by other members of the royal family.”
And it has been reported another key figure in the Queen’s private office, Samantha Cohen, has resigned in unison with Geidt.
But it is believed Samantha will continue her post until April next year one the Commonwealth Games, which will be held in Australia, have come to an end.

Meghan Markle asks Duchess Catherine to be her maid of honour

OHMYGOSSIP — Meghan Markle has reportedly asked the Duchess of Cambridge to be her maid of honour.
The ‘Suits’ actress is currently dating Prince Harry and though the couple have not got engaged just yet, it is speculated that a proposal is in the pipeline for the pair.
Although Meghan has not yet been asked by Harry to have her hand in marriage, the 36-year-old actress has already started to put plans in place for her big day, including inviting Duchess Catherine – who is married to Harry’s older brother Prince William – to be her chief bridesmaid, Women’s Day has reported.
It has been rumoured the brunette beauty sent her soon-to-be sister-in-law a rose gold diamond bracelet, which is believed to have cost Meghan over £1,000, alongside a note asking Catherine – who has four-year-old son Prince George and two-year-old daughter Princess Charlotte – to take on the important role.
This news comes shortly after the 33-year-old royal introduced his girlfriend to his grandmother Queen Elizabeth earlier this month when they returned from their three-week trip in Botswana and Zambia on September 2.
And it is believed the royal meeting went “well”.
Speaking previously about the encounter, a source said: “Harry decided to take Meghan to visit as he hadn’t been up yet all summer.
“He wanted to introduce Meghan to the queen. It went well. It’ll no doubt be the first of many encounters. The entire weekend was a success. He was able to introduce someone he loves to someone he cares for deeply.”
And alongside the growing speculation as to when Harry will pop the question is where the marital ceremony will take place, as it is believed the couple could tie the knot at Westminster Abbey even though Meghan was previously married to Trevor Engelson from 2011 until 2013.
Speaking previously the representative for Westminster Abbey said: “The Abbey follows the General Synod Ruling of 2002. Since then it has been possible for divorced people to be married in the Church of England.”

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will pick a ‘down to earth’ name for their third child

OHMYGOSSIP — The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are reportedly set to pick a “down to earth” name for their third child.
The 35-year-old royal’s wife, Duchess Catherine, recently announced she was pregnant with another child, and a naming expert believes the couple will need to find a “fine balance between tradition and accessibility” when they give their baby a moniker.
Speaking to HELLO! magazine about the pair – who already have four-year-old son Prince George and two-year-old daughter Princess Charlotte together – global naming director at Siegel + Gale, Christian Turner, said: “The key consideration when naming a royal baby is the fine balance between tradition and accessibility.
“The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will want the fifth-in-line to the throne to bear a name worthy of such weight, and it’s therefore likely they will choose a solid, traditional name with strong links to royalty.”
But Christian also believes the royal pair won’t want to give the newcomer an “old fashioned or haughty” title either.
He continued: “At the same time, they won’t want to appear old-fashioned or haughty, so choosing a name the public can embrace is equally important.
And Christian believes the “top contenders” for children’s names are Alice, Amelia or Alexandra if they have another daughter, and if they have a boy potential names could include Arthur, Frederick or Leopold.”
He said: “Alice, the bookies’ top contender for a girl, is a good bet, but Amelia and Alexandra could also be under consideration. Amelia was the daughter of King George II and is the current second most popular name in the UK. Alexandra is the Queen’s second name and has been consistently popular throughout history.
“For a boy, the bookies’ favourite, Arthur, is also a strong contender but Frederick and Leopold could also be on the table; both have strong royal lineage, and their diminutives (Freddie and Leo) have spots in the top 100 boys’ names for 2017.”

Prince Harry is a ‘good’ kisser

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince Harry is a “great kisser”.
The 33-year-old royal – who is currently dating ‘Suits’ actress Meghan Markle – has been credited for his seductive ways by his long-time friend Ronnie Vannucci.
Speaking about the red-headed royal to NME, The Killers band member said: “Oh, y’know, he’s a great kisser.”
But the 41-year-old drummer has not divulged how he knows that intimate detail.
Ronnie and Harry’s friendship started one decade ago when Harry attended one of The Killers’ concerts, where they instantly hit it off.
He explained: “We became pals 10 years ago. We just get along.”
He previously said: “He just showed up at a show one time and we got along. I mean, it’s been ten years I guess. There’s been a lot of long nights.”
But before meeting Harry Ronnie “knew nothing” about him, not even that he was a member of the royal family and the grandson of the 91-year-old monarch Queen Elizabeth II.
But to Ronnie, Harry was simply a “dude in London”.
Speaking previously Ronnie said: “I knew nothing about the royals, so when I met him he was just a dude. I’m a dude in a band and he’s a dude in London.”
But Ronnie has admitted having a friend with such a high status is “cool”, although he never understood what the “bedazzlement of having a Royal Family” was until he met the star.
The American musician said: “Maybe that’s what made things cool. It was just like, ‘Hey, man’.
“It’s safe to say we didn’t grow up with the sort of bedazzlement of having a Royal Family or anything, so I wasn’t educated in what it means to know these people first.”
