Law Roach insists Zendaya is ‘the boss’ in fashion

OHMYGOSSIP — Zendaya’s celebrity stylist Law Roach insists the actress is “the boss” when it comes to putting together her fashion looks.
Law has been working with the Hollywood star since she was 13 and last year, he gave up his other clients to focus on crafting looks just for Zendaya – and he’s convinced they have been able to create something really “special” together.
He told Stylist magazine: “I went from a big business that was dressing 10 different people (plus myself) for each event to working exclusively with Zendaya last year, along with a few special projects.
“I did love the chaos of my old life but I think reinvention is really important for self-care: you have to know when to change the pace and work in a different way …
“But when we work together, she is absolutely the boss. I’ve been styling her since she was 13 and what we create together is special. I’m always picking up things I think she’ll like, such as a vintage Versace skirt I found in Switzerland.”
He went on to add: “I learned a long time ago not to let the critics get in the way of my work. From the beginning, Zendaya and I said that we were doing it for us, and if other people loved it, it was the cherry on top. Even the Mugler robot look for the ‘Dune: Part Two’ premiere wasn’t planned to be as big a moment as it ended up.”
Law – who is a self-styled “image architect” – revealed finding the perfect looks for his clients is a delicate process because he likes to get to know them before picking out clothes for them.
He explained: “I start by finding out all about a client: what they hate to wear, their favourite colour, the part of their body they like most, who they want to be.
“Not everybody wants to be a fashion star, sometimes they just want to feel put-together and confident. Then I go into a research wormhole and look at everything they’ve ever worn: from street style moments to magazine covers. The greatest compliment I’ve received is that none of my clients ever look similar, and that comes from really knowing them.”

The ‘Abbott Elementary’ actress wore a classic black halter gown from Versace, teamed with a sleek ponytail and glowy make-up, as she walked the red carpet at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday (15.09.24) and she praised Ivy Coco Maurice for helping her be “fabulous”.
Speaking to Laverne Cox on ‘Live From E!: Emmys’, she said: “My daughter continues to be my stylist.
“She continues to earn her stripes as a stylist because we both know it is not easy in the fashion industry.
“This is her third year—to be able to create the relationships that would garner me custom Versace and Cartier jewellery.
“She’s doing it. I get to wear it and be fabulous in it, and I’m loving it.”
Meanwhile, the 67-year-old star also expressed her hope to have Denzel Washington cast as her brother in ‘Abbott Elementary’.
She said: “I don’t know if it will happen, but at least I can dream about it.
“My dream family, my brother Denzel.”

“I am very happy she is so good at making these connections and giving other people their shots on the red carpet.”

Selena Gomez’s Emmy look featured ‘effortless elegance and high shine’

OHMYGOSSIP — Selena Gomez opted for “effortless elegance and high shine” at the Emmy Awards.
The 32-year-old star was shortlisted for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for her portrayal of Mabel Mora in ‘Only Murders in the Building’ and she marked the occasion by walking the red carpet at Los Angeles’ Peacock Theatre on Sunday (15.09.24) in a stunning black, silk velvet, hand-embellished pavé halter gown by Ralph Lauren with Tiffany + Co. diamonds to accessorise.
Marissa Marino styled Selena’s hair with the entire Fekkai Brilliant Glossing collection, followed by Kristin Ess, using the Detangling Paddle Brush to give her a mostly-straight blow dry, with a large curling iron applied to the ends.
Make-up artist Hung Vanngo gave the actress a smokey cat eye and nude lip, with her manicurist Tom Bachik giving her a high-shine nude nail to match.
Marissa told Vogue.com: “The vibe for the night was effortless elegance and high shine.”
Selena is the founder of Rare Beauty but recently admitted that she has no clue how to do make-up and simply hopes that others “feel good” when they are using her company’s products.
Speaking at the TIME100 Summit,, she said: “I don’t know how to do make-up and I have a make-up line. I wanted it to feel good when they’re using my products. And all of our products are named based on uplifting things, from our Find Comfort line to anything that comes to mind, body and soul, we try to be very conscious of even naming the products to be reminders of joy or just finding yourself. ”
Selena – who shot to fame in her teens on Disney Channel – admitted that her only goal was to make makeup that was “fun” for her fans because she had “spent years” aspiring to look a certain type of way in what she said was all just a “waste of time” in the end.
She added: “So I genuinely just wanted to make make-up that was fun for people. I don’t believe in having to look a certain way. I spent years trying to do that and it’s draining. Waste of time.”

Alan Cumming thinks it’s ‘hilarious’ Taylor Swift ‘stole’ his look

OHMYGOSSIP — Alan Cumming thinks it is “hilarious” that Taylor Swift “stole [his] look”.
The 59-year-old actor is known for his tartan outfits when presenting the US version of ‘The Traitors’, which sparked social media comparisons when the ‘Cruel Summer’ hitmaker attended the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) in a yellow plaid ensemble last week.
And Alan – who walked the red carpet at Sunday’s (15.09.24) Emmy Awards in a white jacket with a tartan wrap detail over a black kilt by Teddy Vonranson – admitted he was flattered by the comparisons.
Speaking to People and Entertainment Weekly at the Emmys, he joked: “B**** stole my look. Oh, sorry, I’m not supposed to say ‘b****’.”
He then added: “It was lovely. I think it’s hilarious that so many people sort of said, ‘Taylor Swift looked like Alan Cumming,’ which is a sentence I never thought I would hear!”
But the ‘Spy Kids’ star joked he’d “lost” fans when he drew attention to the comparisons by sharing a meme featuring a side-by-side comparison of Taylor at the VMAs and three of his ‘Traitors’ looks.
Asked if any of the Karma’ singer’s fans followed him afterwards, he said: “I just did an Instagram post and I went, ‘Ahem, Taylor Swift,’ so maybe I lost them.”
Last weekend saw Alan win the Outstanding Host For A Reality Or Reality Competition Program at the first night of the Creative Arts Emmys but he wasn’t able to attend – which he was relieved about.
He said: “I’m making this film in Scotland, so I was in my bed last week when I won, and it’s actually nice to have won and come here and have all the hullabaloo…
“It’s scary doing this, ’cause you’re emotional and you’re nervous, so it’s not something I enjoy particularly, so I’m glad it all happened when I was in my bed.”
However, he did have to get up on stage at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday because ‘The Traitors’ won the Outstanding Reality Competition Program accolade.

Aubrey Plaza has no regrets over SAG Awards dress and would have only refused it for one reason

OHMYGOSSIP — Aubrey Plaza wouldn’t have worn her revealing SAG Awards dress if she had “giant knockers”.
The 40-year-old actress caused a stir at the event last year as she stepped out in a bronze sequin Michael Kors gown which came with a cutout in the centre and a crisscross neckline exposing her midriff.
Asked about the outfit on SiriusXM’s ‘Howard Stern Show’, she said: “They just gave me that dress, and I put it on. I wasn’t really thinking about it so much. I swear to God.”
She insisted she didn’t think about it “so much”, and brushed off the host’s question about her thoughts looking in the mirror before the event.
He quipped: “You don’t look in the mirror and go,’ You know, a little bit of my boob is hanging out on the bottom. Maybe I don’t want to do that?’ ”
She replied: “My boobs aren’t really like… If I had giant knockers, maybe I’d be like, ‘Whoa. I gotta keep these things…'”
The ‘Parks and Recreation’ star – who is also known for roles in the likes of ‘The White Lotus’ and ‘Legion’ – insisted she had no idea why the dress caused so much conversation on social media.
She was wondering: “‘Is this different from any other dress I wear?’
“I didn’t think that dress specifically was like, ‘Woo. Check it out. I’m gonna really make a splash here with this underboob.’ ”
Days after the event last year, stylist Jessica Paster defended the dress in the comment section after it was shared by fashion blogger Check the Tag, with some users complaining about the “straps” and “cutout”
However, she insisted everything went to plan as she responded: “Did 7 fittings .. for real … I wanted underboob (sic)”

She told WWD: “I’ve just always known about Chanel No.5… It’s iconic and an iconic brand.

However, she laughs off the mishap and dives into the ocean, before coming back up to the surface.
Praising the director – best known for films like 2017’s ‘Call Me By Your Name’ and this year’s hit ‘Challengers’ – Margot highlight his ability to hit the right tone between sensuality and cinema.
She said: “He can create that sensual mood in a very cinematic way.
“I also love that about his films, so I think we definitely played with that [desire]. It was more playful in this, because the tone of it actually is quite light.”

Jordan Chiles and Simone Biles bonded over makeup at 2024 Olympics

OHMYGOSSIP — Jordan Chiles and Simone Biles bonded over makeup during the 2024 Paris Games.
The two Olympic gymnasts spent a lot of time together over the summer and – after Jordan’s older sister Jazmin “wasn’t allowed to go into the Village” to help her – she turned to her teammate for support.
She told People magazine: “We were just kind of bouncing ideas off of each other.
“[Simone] was like, ‘Ooh, do I need to put more blush here?’ and I was like, ‘Do I need to put more highlight here?’ ”
She laughed, saying she teased her friend after noticing she was “using Milani a lot” in her makeup routines.
The two pals shared the occasional product with each other too.
Jordan, 23, recalled: “I think I did take some of her lip gloss or something like that. I was like, ‘Hey, can I use this real quick?'”
Jordan even helped the 27-year-old athlete with her hair “a couple of times”, which she admitted was “really cool”.
She noted that Simone “did not do my hair”, but they “had fun in the Village”.
When it comes to her own routine away from the Olympics, Jordan keeps things simple starting with a wash, and ending with a moisturiser, using just two products.
She used to use “a bunch of stuff for no reason” when she was younger, but over time she was simplified the process – “a cleanser and a moisturiser was just the best fit” – which influenced her new partnership with Vaseline.
She said: “I’ve used Vaseline ever since I was little… Literally slathered it all over my body head to toe.”

Tom and Giovanna Fletcher design official BBC Children in Need T-shirt

OHMYGOSSIP — Tom and Giovanna Fletcher have designed a T-shirt for BBC Children in Need.
The couple have teamed up with the charity and George at Asda for this year’s official design, with the unisex garment inspired by their love of music and incorporating a tribute to their own three sons, Buzz, 10, Buddy, eight, and six-year-old Max.
Giovanna said: “We are extremely proud to be apart of this year’s BBC Children in Need launch to raise vital funds to make life lighter for children. Designing the T-shirt with the team at George at Asda was an absolute dream and we loved threading aspects of our own lives into it.
“If you look closely at the bandana, each colourful spot represents one of our three boys Buzz, Buddy and Max. Through getting involved or simply picking up a T-shirt, BBC Children in Need can continue help to lighten the load for hundreds of thousands of children when they need us most.”
The McFly singer and his author wife worked with George at Asda’s design team to pay homage to the Children in Need Rocks concert series and explored the charity’s biggest moments, from the first radio appeal in 1927 until now.
Tom said: “When myself and Gi got the call to help design this year’s BBC Children in Need T-shirt we jumped at the opportunity. It was so fun to reimagine what the iconic Pudsey tee could look like if we transformed it into a band style tee celebrating all the ‘best bits’ of this amazing charity.
“Getting down to your local Asda to pick it up is an easy way to get involved with BBC Children in Need this year to raise vital funds to empower every child to thrive and be the best they can be.”
Liz Evans, Chief Commercial Officer – George at Asda, added: “It’s been fantastic to work with Tom and Giovanna on the creation of this year’s official BBC Children in Need T-shirt. We absolutely love how they have brought their creativity and personality to life in the design, alongside a really on trend ‘band tour’ theme that will help our customers to support the great work of BBC Children in Need in style.”
All money raised through the sale of the T-shirt will go towards Asda and BBC Children in Need’s Fuelling Potential campaign tackling food insecurity and its commitment to making a difference to young lives for many more children and young people all across the UK.
The 2024 Adult T-shirt is available to buy from www.george.com and in Asda stores from 30 September, costing £10.
The design will also feature on kids t-shirts, mugs, and tote bags, which will be available in store from the same date.

Eva Mendes and Raye star in Stella McCartney’s fall campaign

OHMYGOSSIP — Eva Mendes and Raye feature in Stella McCartney’s fall campaign.
The Hollywood star and the award-winning musician have both been chosen to star in the luxury fashion brand’s latest campaign, which reinforces the environmental manifesto behind the company.
The campaign aims to showcase the brand’s passion for the environment and cruelty-free practices in fashion.
In the campaign imagery, Eva and Raye are seen posing side by side with a stallion and a polar bear.
Designer Stella McCartney – who is the daughter of Beatles legend Sir Paul McCartney – chose to work with Eva due to her strong voice and support for immigrants, women and children, according to WWD.
Meanwhile, Raye was chosen to feature in the campaign as she represents a voice for the injustices in the music industry, feminism and the environmental crisis.
Previously, Stella said that the fashion industry is “killing Mother Nature” due to its practices.
The 53-year-old designer bemoaned the lack of regulations and restrictions in the fashion industry.
Stella told Vogue: “Our house is on fire. As one of the most polluting industries in the world we are at breaking point and it’s never been more critical for us to come together and act. This isn’t just a fashion fad. This is an issue that every industry is facing, but the major issue with our industry is that we have never been policed.
“There are no regulations, guidelines or restrictions in place that stop brands from working in the way they have always worked and that is ultimately what is killing Mother Nature at an alarming rate.”

Lily Collins reveals her favourite Emily in Paris outfit

OHMYGOSSIP — Lily Collins has a favourite outfit from season four of ‘Emily in Paris.’
The latest season of the hit rom-com recently premiered on Netflix, and Lily has confessed to having a fondness from one on-screen outfit in particular.
The brunette beauty – who plays the part of Emily Cooper, an American marketing executive, on the show – told PEOPLE: “I think there’s an outfit in the two episodes at the end, which was a vintage Alaia skirt and a white collared shirt with flats and a little scarf.
“It felt, to me, like a real departure for Emily, and more Italian, more holiday vacation vibes, and more practical running around with flats. It just felt cinematic.”
Lily, 35 – who is the daughter of music star Phil Collins – also revealed that some of her on-screen outfits were inspired by the career of Audrey Hepburn.
She explained: “[Part] two includes the ‘Charade’ look at the top of the mountain, as well as ‘Roman Holiday’, obviously.
“And [costume designer Marylin Fitoussi] always tries to draw inspiration, but give it an Emily twist. And so I think, for us, that was exactly what we did.
“We took images that were so iconic. So it’s important to always have that touch.”
Previously, Lily admitted that her ‘Emily in Paris’ character has pushed her to take “new risks” with her fashion choices.
The actress told Harper’s Bazaar magazine: “I take new risks because of Emily, whether that’s with colour palette, texture, print or shape – she helps me branch out and try new things.”

Dan Levy’s ‘greatest gift’ for fashion passion

OHMYGOSSIP — Dan Levy has admitted ‘Schitt’s Creek’ was the “greatest gift” for his love of fashion.
The 41-year-old actor – who co-created the series with his father and co-star Eugene Levy – used to spend “all year round” searching for his dream costumes for the programme and was very hands-on when it came to putting together looks for co-stars Catherine O’Hara and Annie Murphy.
He told the Daily Telegraph newspaper: “I feel as a storyteller you can say so much through how someone chooses to dress. And ‘Schitt’s Creek’ was obviously the greatest gift.
“I got to find pieces from collections I’d loved in the past to dress Catherine or Annie in.
“I got to touch and feel clothes that when I was younger I had admired from afar. We had no budget when we started, so I was on Grailed and eBay.
“Everything came from some kind of designer consignment site. I would search all year round.
“And then I would bring all the clothes into our costume department, we would unpack them, and then myself and Debra Hanson, the costume designer on the show, would take the clothes that I had bought and style them.”
Dan was interested in fashion from a very young age and even used to go home from school at lunchtime so he could try a different outfit for the afternoon.
He said: “My parents, I think, had a suspicion that I was gay from a young age, but there’s just something about fashion that I’ve always loved.
“My mom tells a story – although I can’t remember this – about when I was in elementary school and I’d head off to class in one outfit, come back at lunchtime and get changed then go back to school in another outfit for the afternoon.”
The actor even used to give his parents an “approval check” over their outfits before they went out anywhere.
He laughed: “Apparently I would give them both an approval check each time they left the house. They were going out for dinner or something and I would look at what they were wearing and give them a yes or a no.
“And my dad tells the story of how he was leaving to go on a trip once and he was wearing jeans and a shirt with a tie and a blazer. Apparently – I was like six or something – I told him, ‘From the waist up, great. From the waist down, gross!’ Even at that age I felt there was something inappropriate about wearing denim with a shirt and tie and a blazer.”
Asked if his dad changed his trousers, he replied: “No, I don’t think he did.”

Law Roach spills on strict fitting requirements for Zendaya’s Mugler robot suit

OHMYGOSSIP — Zendaya was only allowed to wear the iconic Mugler robot suit if it was the “perfect measurement”.
The 28-year-old actress turned heads in the sci-fi ensemble for the ‘Dune: Part Two’ premiere earlier this year, and stylist Law Roach has recalled how the French fashion house – which was founded by the late Thierry Mugler – was very strict about the sizing of the costume on his client.
Speaking at a Q+A at The Standard in London as part of the finale of Résidence CÎROC to promote his book ‘How to Build a Fashion Icon’, he said: “It was a dream. It was a dream of us after she did the first one.
“But Mr Mugler had recently passed away, and everyone knew that he was in charge of the archive, so I didn’t think that it was possible.
“We flew to Paris to try to convince Casey Cadwallader to let us do it.
“And it was so funny, because his team was on one side of the table and we were on the side of the table, and I’m like, I got my pitch.
“I’m like, Listen, this is going to be amazing. The fashion world has never seen anything like this, and I’m pitching and pitching, and then he just looked at me and said: ‘But it has to fit. It has to fit.’ And what he meant by that, it that it’s really a robot suit.
“So wrist to elbow has to be perfect. It has to be the perfect measurement.
“And from elbow to shoulder has to be perfect, and from ankle to knee and thigh to hip, and everything has to fit perfectly.
“So we took a bunch of measurements, and he called me, and said, ‘You know what the measurements look similar.’
“So we flew back to Paris to have a fitting. It was so fashion. It was just so divine.”
The image architect – who has worked with the ‘Greatest Showman’ star since she was 13 and counts Anya Taylor-Joy and Celine Dion as clients – says they were relieved when everything fit and burst into tears.
He went on: “All the all the pieces were laid out. I looked at the shoes, and I’m pretty good to look. I can look at a woman’s feet and be like, ‘oh, you’re a six’. And so I looked, I was like, the shoes are gonna fit. So he looks at me. I said, ‘I know the shoes are gonna fit.’
“So she put the shoes on, and then she slid on the shin, and, you know, from ankle to knee, and then she put on the thigh, then she did on the other side, and then she slipped on the hip, and then she put on the arm and the hands, and all these things started to come together and just click in.
“And we were in the room crying. Casey was crying, I was crying, and it just fit. And then Zendaya just became this thing, and she started moving gracefully. We were like, it’s meant to be!”
The finale of Résidence CÎROC celebrated image architect Law Roach, marking the release of his debut book, How to Build a Fashion Icon.

Alexa Chung makes miniskirt pledge

OHMYGOSSIP — Alexa Chung has pledged to “always” wear miniskirts.
The 40-year-old model-and-presenter doesn’t think about getting older and while she may be “tartier” now than she used to be, she doesn’t care about changing her signature style.
She told the new issue of Britain’s Grazia magazine: “The other day I posted a picture wearing a minidress and someone commented, ‘She’s trying to look 24’ and someone else commented ‘She’s 40’.
“And when I saw it written down I was like, ‘How dare you, I’m not 40!’ I just forget.
“I’m going for the Patti Smith and Fran Lebowitz school of ageing. No make-up and men’s clothes.
“[But] there’ll always be minis. I get tartier the older I get, but my style has always been about blending classics with more contemporary pieces, which is why I wore a Barbour jacket when I was 22.”
When it comes to her mid-2000s look, Alexa admitted her generation had “terrible” hair and make-up.
She said “Our hair and make-up were terrible. Thanks to YouTube everyone now understands skincare in a way that we didn’t.
“It wasn’t a look, it was a commitment to not giving a f*** about one’s appearance.
“It was more carefree, quite messy, DIY dorky – those were the most fun days of my life.”
Despite being a style icon to many, Alexa joked she is still waiting to turn into a “glamorous” adult.
She said: “I keep thinking I will suddenly turn into an adult who is really glamorous, but it hasn’t happened yet.
“I think I’m just stuck with messy hair.”
The former ‘Popworld’ presenter is more “flattered” at being tagged an It Girl than she used to be.
She explained: “I’m really flattered as a woman to be called an It Girl.
“When I was a TV presenter I was a bit miffed because I felt it took away from my job, but now I’d much rather be an It Girl, it’s fabulous.”

Princess Diana ‘ripped the corset’ from Met Gala dress

OHMYGOSSIP — Princess Diana “ripped the corset” from the dress she wore to the Met Gala in 1996.
The late Princess of Wales wore a gown designed by John Galliano for her one and only appearance at the prestigious New York fashion event and the designer recalled how she put her unique twist on the garment.
Galliano recalled in the new Disney+ series ‘In Vogue: The 90s’: “I remember one day we all jumped into this old van, and we went to London, where we met Princess Diana. She’d been invited to the Met, and she would wear one of my dresses.
“It was a blessing. I mean like, wow. We went to Kensington Palace and discussed drawings. I was trying to push for pink, but she was not having it. ‘No, not the pink!’ That was real, real fun.”
The former creative director of Dior continued: “So we did the dress and subsequent fittings, and it was beautifully done.
“Fast-forward to the event, and I just remember her getting out of the car. I couldn’t believe it. She’s ripped the corset out.
“She didn’t want to wear the corset. She felt so liberated. She’d torn the corset out. The dress was much more… sensuous.
“I mean, wow! Diana was my first couture client.”
Diana experimented with her style throughout the 1990s and Vogue editor Anna Wintour reflected on the “fascination” that surrounded the princess during the decade.
She said: “I think all of us were so captivated and fascinated by Princess Diana. At that time, she was the most famous woman in the world. She was enjoying fashion and the spotlight that she put on particularly British designers.”

Lily Collins tried on 81 outfits for fourth season of Emily in Paris

OHMYGOSSIP — Lily Collins tried on 81 outfits for the latest season of ‘Emily in Paris’.
The 35-year-old star reprises her role as Emily Cooper in the latest run of the hit Netflix show and explained how the styling of her alter ego is a collaborative process with costume designer Marylin Fitoussi.
Speaking at the ‘Emily in Paris: The Magic Behind the Scenes’ panel at the Paley Museum in New York City, Lily said: “Every season starts with two days of eight-hour fittings. So I have 16 hours of fittings – a record-breaking 81 looks in those two days this year.
“And some are commissioned, some are vintage, some are from collections of a time-gone-by, some are unknown designers that (Fitoussi) found in her DMs, some are well-known designers. The list goes on and on.”
Lily – who was joined on the panel by co-star Ashley Park and series director Andrew Fleming – emphasised how deciding on outfits is a team effort for the ‘Emily in Paris’ cast and crew.
The actress, who is the daughter of musician Phil Collins, said: “Some are pieces from my wardrobe. We all bring our own ideas. We bring people, we bring family heirlooms, we bring gifts we want to wear.
“And (Fitoussi) has such an identity for each of us that we have added to throughout the years. You can clearly go into a room and go, ‘That’s definitely for Mindy, that’s definitely for Bruno, that’s definitely for Samuel, that’s definitely for Philippine.’
“You know who everyone is so well this time in a fourth season… We know ourselves even better. And she’s so open to having that collaborative nature with us.”
