Prince George ‘envious’ of dad’s digger driving

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince George is “envious” of his father because he has driven a digger.
Prince William has revealed his four-year-old son was green with envy when told he has transported one of machines back in 2014 when buildings were demolished so a new £300 million Defence National Rehabilitation Centre (DNRC) could be constructed.
Speaking at a fundraising gala set up by the City Veterans’ Network, at the Imperial War Museum in London on Thursday (09.11.17), William – who is patron of the DNRC – said: “I have been repeatedly impressed by both the speed and ambitious scale of this endeavor.
“I was present at the end of 2014 when the first building was demolished to make way for the new construction.
“George was very envious as I got to drive a digger.”
William also praised the late Duke of Westminster – who passed away in August 2016 aged 64 – for launching the project for a new DNRC, which is hoped will be among the best in the world for injured Armed Forces personnel.
He added: “In his closing days as a senior reservist, he saw the terrible price paid by some of the men and women of our armed forces when injured serving the nation.
“He wanted to ensure that these men and women received the very best clinical help to get them on their journey back into work and into life beyond injury.”
The new DNRC centre, which is being funded by charitable donations, is based at Stanford Hall in Leicestershire, central England, and William admitted it is four times the size of the Headley Court building in Epsom, south east England.
William added: “This was the late Duke of Westminster’s ultimate goal, and with your help, together we can make it a reality.”

Prince Harry jokes about taking Meghan Markle to Westminster Abbey

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince Harry has sparked further speculation he could be set to pop the question by joking about taking Meghan Markle to Westminster Abbey.
The 33-year-old royal hinted he may take his girlfriend to the famous building – where his brother Prince William and Duchess Catherine tied the knot – at some point in the near future, admitting he wouldn’t be able to “hide her”. .
Bomb disposal expert Matt Weston revealed a conversation between the pair which took place at the Abbey, where Harry was for a Remembrance Day event, saying: “I took the mickey and asked where his missus was and he said she wasn’t here.
“I asked if she would come next time because she’s awesome, and he said he couldn’t hide her anywhere — but I said, ‘You wouldn’t have to hide her.’
“I would love to meet her — I think she’s very cool. He’s a very lucky man and she’s brilliant.”
Harry and the ‘Suits’ star have been dating for around 18 months and it has been speculated he is set to get down on one knee soon, or may have even popped the question already.
As well as the flame-haired prince’s brother William and sister-in-law Catherine, his grandparents Queen Elizabeth and the Duke of Edinburgh, also tied the knot at Westminster Abbey.
What’s more, Harry and Meghan recently got the green light to marry at the famous building should they wish to do so.
A representative for Westminster Abbey recently said: “The Abbey follows the General Synod Ruling of 2002. Since then it has been possible for divorced people to be married in the Church of England.”

Prince Charles extends invite to Indian PM Narendra Modi

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince Charles has invited Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to attend the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting next year.
The important diplomatic event is being staged in the UK in 2018 and during a meeting with the Indian politician, Prince Charles extended an invite to the 67-year-old as they discussed a wide range of different issues.
Of their meeting, external affairs ministry spokesperson Raveesh Kumar tweeted: “A relationship marked by mutual respect and strong bonds of friendship. Prime Minister Modi welcomed Their Royal Highness, the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall at Hyderabad House, wide ranging issues on strengthening bilateral cooperation were discussed.”
Prince Charles and his wife, the Duchess of Cornwall, are currently in India as part of their 10-day tour of four nations – Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei and India.
And of the future King’s arrival in the country, the official Twitter page of Clarence House said: “An assembled ‘Elephant Parade’ greet Their Royal Highnesses in the garden of the British High Commissioner’s Residence.”
In another tweet, Clarence House said: “The elephant family sculptures will be taken to Mumbai to raise awareness of the charity’s mission to help protect Asian elephants.”
Meanwhile, during his time in Malaysia, Prince Charles and his wife were showered with gifts on their visit to the state of Penang.
The duo were offered “fragrant garlands” and “silk shawls” when they visited the Sri Mahamariamman Hindu temple to help “attract positive vibes”.
A local historian named Preveena Balakrishnan explained: “We wanted to have a fragrant garland so we chose sandalwood – flower garlands will fade and die.
“The silk shawls are given to kings and queens and we believe silk has the power to attract positive vibes.”

Duchess of Cambridge says raising a child ought to be a communal effort

OHMYGOSSIP — Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge believes raising a child should be a collaborative effort.
The 35-year-old royal – who has Prince George, four, and Princess Charlotte, two, with Prince William – is expecting her third child in April 2018 and speaking at the opening of the annual School Leaders Forum in London, Duchess explained that the responsibility for raising a child extends far beyond the baby’s parents.
She said: “As a mother, just getting used to leaving my own child at the school gates, it is clear to me that it takes a whole community to help raise a child. Whether we are school leavers, teachers, support staff or parents we are all in this together.”
During the event – which was run by Place2Be, the leading national children’s mental health charity – the Duchess also stressed the need to pay closer attention to the mental wellbeing of young children.
However, the British royal also insisted she’s positive about the steps that have been taken and the progress that has been made on the issue over recent years.
The Duchess – who was known as Kate Middleton prior to marrying Prince William – shared: “Collaborating with experts like yourselves, we’re looking at providing easy access to information and practical tools to support teachers, parents and children feel comfortable talking about their mental health. We are all here today because we share the belief that every child deserves the chance to fulfil their potential.
“When I came to this conference two years ago, I left with a real sense of energy and passion about what we could all achieve together.”

Meghan Markle has a ‘small group of friends’

OHMYGOSSIP — Meghan Markle is “very loyal to a very small group of friends”.
The ‘Suits’ actress has been dating Britain’s Prince Harry since mid-2016 and Amanda Dishaw – who runs the blog Meghan’s Mirror in partnership with her US-based colleague Christine O’Brien – has revealed the brunette beauty is only close with a small group of people.
Among Meghan’s close friends are the Toronto power couple Jessica and Ben Mulroney.
Ben, the son of former Canadian Prime Minister Brian Mulroney, is a well-known TV host and entertainment reporter in the Canadian city, while Jessica is related to the founder of a prominent shoe retailer.
What’s more, she is also fashion adviser to Sophie Gregoire-Trudeau, who is the wife of Justin Trudeau, Canada’s Prime Minister.
Meghan also knows the Trudeaus through her humanitarian work and according to ex-society columnist Rosemary Sexton, the two high-profile families are “Canadian royalty”.
Speaking to the BBC, she added: “It seems only fitting that she hangs around with [them].”
Meghan is also reported to have struck up a close friendship with the Duchess of Cambridge over recent months.
And Dishaw – who runs a site dedicated to the Duchess, too – believes she has already overtaken the 35-year-old royal as the most in-demand member of the family.
She explained: “It’s really interesting for us to see this shift in royal fandom – this big shift towards Meghan and distancing themselves from Kate.”
Meanwhile, it was recently claimed that Prince Harry is to delay proposing to Meghan until after the Duchess – who already has Prince George, four, and Prince Charlotte, two – has given birth.
As a result, an engagement between Harry and Meghan will likely wait until after the new royal tot is born in April 2018.
An insider said: “There won’t be any announcement until at least after Kate has had her baby in April.”

Queen Elizabeth jokes about her own mortality

OHMYGOSSIP — Queen Elizabeth jokes about her own mortality in a documentary with Sir David Attenborough.
The 91-year-old royal made a quip about herself during the making of the programme while she and the award-winning TV star were chatting in the grounds of Buckingham Palace.
At one stage during their conversation, Sir David observed that due to the impact of climate change, “there will be all kinds of different trees growing here in another 50 years’ time”.
At which point, the Queen replies: “I won’t be here though.”
Then, the Queen points out a bent sapling and asks someone who is stood behind the camera: “Is it meant to be like that? Somebody sat on it I think at a garden party.”
Earlier this week, meanwhile, Queen Elizabeth bestowed an MBE on Britain’s last surviving Dambuster.
The monarch honoured Squadron Leader George Leonard ‘Johnny’ Johnson during a ceremony at Buckingham Palace on Tuesday (07.11.17) by making him a Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE).
George, 95, was part of the Royal Air Force 617 Squadron which conducted a series of raids on German dams during the Second World War.
During the ceremony, Queen Elizabeth told him: “Glad to see the Dambusters are still here.”
George is the last surviving Dambuster in Britain, and he is one of only two survivors to take part in bombing raids on the Mohne, Eder and Sorpe dams in Germany.

Prince Charles warns of threat to Britain’s trees

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince Charles has warned that pests and diseases are threatening the health of Britain’s trees.
The 68-year-old royal – who is a passionate environmentalist – has spoken out about the state of the British countryside, warning that there has recently been a rapid increase in the threats facing the country’s trees, while he’s also bemoaned the country’s lack of awareness about the issue.
Writing in Country Life magazine, Prince Charles explained: “I planted an avenue of them at Highgrove and then watched, miserably, as many of them succumbed.
“Losing almost every sizeable English elm from our countryside was such a profound change that I suspect every Country Life reader will have heard of Dutch Elm disease.
“The wider problem is that a great many more pests and diseases are now seriously threatening the health of all our native trees, yet public awareness of this seems to be frighteningly low.”
The British royal pointed out that the country’s tree population contributes to the nation’s health, while he also observed that the trees prevent soil erosion and flooding.
Prince Charles added: “The benefits of healthy trees are clear, which is why we should all be seriously alarmed by the recent rapid increase in tree pests and diseases in this country.”
This comes shortly after Prince William warned that African wildlife is under “enormous pressure” from the increase in human population growth.
He recently said: “Africa’s rapidly growing human population is predicted to more than double by 2050, a staggering increase of three and a half million people per month.
“There is no question that this increase puts wildlife and habitat under enormous pressure. Urbanisation, infrastructure development, cultivation – all good things in themselves, but they will have a terrible impact unless we begin to plan and to take measures now.”

Queen Elizabeth gives MBE to war veteran

OHMYGOSSIP — Queen Elizabeth has bestowed an MBE on Britain’s last surviving Dambuster.
The 91-year-old monarch honoured Squadron Leader George Leonard ‘Johnny’ Johnson during a ceremony at Buckingham Palace on Tuesday (07.11.17) by making him a Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE).
George, 95, was part of the Royal Air Force 617 Squadron which conducted a series of raids on German dams during the Second World War in an effort to disable enemy troops.
As he collected his award, Queen Elizabeth told him: “Glad to see the Dambusters are still here.”
George is the last surviving Dambuster in Britain, and he is one of only two survivors to take part in bombing raids on the Mohne, Eder and Sorpe dams in Germany, with the other being Canadian former front gunner Fred Sutherland.
The former pilot has “strong memories” of his time as a Dambuster, but insists he’ll only share his experiences with those who are interested in hearing his tale.
He said: “That is something which will live forever as far as I’m concerned. I don’t volunteer, but if people ask will I talk to their club or their group, that means they are interested and if they are interested I will talk to them. I’ve got to the stage now where I say to the children ‘If I say I don’t want to do this any more, you can send the box in as soon as you like’.”
George has also been awarded an honorary doctorate from Lincoln University, but says meeting the Queen this week – which was the second time he’d had the honour of meeting the monarch after previously having an audience with her three years ago – was the “highlight of his life”.
He added: “I also had an honorary doctorate with Lincoln University which was basically because of my work with the mentally handicapped and that to me meant as much as this did, apart from the fact of meeting the Queen again, which was wonderful.
“I had the honour of an audience with her about three years ago and I felt honoured to meet her for a second time. I think she’s a wonderful lady, I have always thought so and it was confirmed so much at that audience at Windsor Castle, that has to be the highlight of my life, that audience.”

Crown Princess Mary’s royal future was predicted by a fortune teller

OHMYGOSSIP — Mary, Crown Princess of Denmark, was told she’d become a royal by a tarot card reader.
The 45-year-old royal – who is married to Frederik, Crown Prince of Denmark – has told the story of how a walk through a local flea market in her home country of Australia saw her meet a fortune teller who told her to expect great things from her future.
Crown Princess Mary insists the clairvoyant told her she would leave her workplace and meet a man from abroad, before becoming famous and moving to Europe.
Speaking to Jens Andersen for his new authorised biography on Crown Prince Frederik, ‘Under the Bar’, Mary said: “So I left there and thought, ‘Well yes, that was a lot of fun, but nothing more.’ But I’ve always been interested in the spiritual. In mystery and fate.”
Soon after her encounter with the fortune teller, Crown Princess Mary met her future husband in a bar in Sydney during the 2000 Olympic games, and she insists she had no idea he was royalty until further down the line.
She recalled: “The first time we met, we shook hands. I didn’t know he was the prince of Denmark. Half an hour later, someone came up to me and said, ‘Do you know who these people are?'”
The couple’s relationship blossomed from there, and they married in 2004 before having four children, Prince Christian, 12, Princess Isabella, 10, and six-year-old twins Princess Josephine and Prince Vincent.
Meanwhile, Crown Prince Frederik admits he also believes in fate, but doesn’t think people can predict the future.
He said: “I believe in fate. When I look back on all the exciting things that have happened to me, it’s not random. But I don’t try to look ahead and say, ‘Can I predict my destiny for the next two years?’ I don’t want to talk to anyone who claims they can. No one should read anything about me and my future.”

Queen Elizabeth once rescued a navy Wren

OHMYGOSSIP — A woman has told the story of the time Queen Elizabeth rescued her after a horrific accident at sea.
Julie Harding was just 18 years old when she was working as a Navy Wren on a frigate which was escorting the Royal Yacht Britannia on a summer cruise to the Western Isles of Scotland in 1992.
Whilst working on the boat, Julie slipped on deck and a hatch crushed her finger tips, and upon hearing word of the accident, the monarch allowed her to be treated on board Britannia by the royal doctors.
Julie, now 43, was visited by the 91-year-old royal as well as her husband Prince Philip and son Prince Edward whilst she rested in the sick bay, where she dined on special meals and had a concert performed just for her by the Royal Marine band.
Speaking about the honour, Julie said: “The Queen gave permission for me to come on board and made sure I was well looked after. She even asked if she could come down and see me.
“The Queen, Prince Philip and Prince Edward then paid me a visit. They spent 10 minutes talking to me, it was all a bit surreal. She asked if I was OK and if I had everything I needed.
“She sent me down the Royal puddings every night I was there. The Royal Family ate a different meal to the crew and the puddings were absolutely delicious.
“She let me use the Royal baths. She even sent the band down to cheer me up. They could not have looked after me any better.”
“If we had not been travelling with the Royal yacht I would have lost the ends of my fingers.”
Julie’s special treatment saw her make history by becoming the first woman who was not a member of the Royal Family or their retinue to be given such an honour.
The extraordinary tale has only emerged now, over 20 years later, after former members of Britannia’s crew tracked Julie down and invited her to a special 25th anniversary event last weekend.

Prince Albert of Monaco wants to travel with twins

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince Albert of Monaco wants to take his twins on a “halfway-around-the-world” trip.
The 59-year-old royal has two-year-old twins Princess Gabriella and Prince Jacques with his wife Princess Charlene, and whilst they might still be young, the royal can’t wait to take them with him when he and his wife embark on a lengthy trip around the world next year.
He said: “We did a cruise with them this summer and that was fine. Next summer, we’re going to take them on a long trip to Polynesia. We’ll have to break up so it’s not so long for them.”
However, the pair – who turn three in December – won’t be taking part in any official royal duties any time soon, as he recalls he wasn’t involved in a formal state visit until he was six years old.
According to People magazine, Prince Albert thinks the pair could say “hello” to a few dignitaries, but their inclusion on the visit will be on the “private side”.
He added that when he was their age he accompanied his parents Princess Grace and Prince Rainier “on the private side of an official visit to Ireland”, and took part in his first formal engagement three years later in Portugal.
He said: “We went to Portugal. I remember going to Fatima, seeing the pilgrims. Including Jacques and Gabriella as part of any official state visit might have to wait a few years.”
Prince Albert also insists that despite their close ages, any potential play dates with four-year-old Prince George and two-year-old Princess Charlotte – the children of Britain’s Prince William and Duchess Catherine, who are expecting their third child together – will also have to wait.
He told People magazine: “Are you asking me about a royal play date with Will and Kate’s kids? Maybe, but a state visit with the twins to any country – not just the UK – is a few years off.”

Duchess Catherine to travel the UK

OHMYGOSSIP — Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, is set to take on more royal engagements around Britain now that her morning sickness has subsided.
The 35-year-old royal is currently expecting her third child with her husband Prince William and was forced to cancel several public appearances in September after being struck with hyperemesis gravidarum, a severe form of morning sickness she also battled during her previous two pregnancies.
But now that Catherine – who already has Prince George, four, and Princess Charlotte, two, with her spouse – is pushing past the worst of her condition, she is said to be planning a number of trips around Britain to make up for the time spent recuperating.
A Kensington Palace source told the Daily Express newspaper: “The Duchess has been very unwell and has been forced to postpone and cancel a number of planned visits around the country this year.
“As her health improves in the weeks ahead she will be travelling to many regions of the UK for official visits and engagements.”
The decision for Catherine to visit other parts of the country comes as it as been revealed that out of over 30 engagements undertaken by the royal this year, only three have taken place outside of London.
Her last UK engagement outside of the capital was on May 3 when she travelled to a farm in Arlingham, Gloucestershire.
Before that, she had visited the RAF centre in Wittering in February, and her first engagement of the year outside of London was at a children’s hospice in Quidenham in Norfolk in January.
Catherine’s battle with hyperemesis gravidarum has been partly to blame for her cancelled travel plans, as the engagements she was forced to pull out of would have seen her travel to Liverpool, Milton Keynes, and Belfast.
On Tuesday (07.11.17), the Duchess completed her 33rd royal engagement of the year when she attended a gala dinner for the Anna Freud Centre at her home in Kensington Palace.
It isn’t just visits around the UK that Catherine enjoys either, as this year has seen her travel to Paris, Poland, Germany and Belgium, and Luxembourg on official visits.

Meghan Markle’s birth was the greatest ‘gift’

OHMYGOSSIP — Meghan Markle’s birth was the greatest “gift” for her family.
The 36-year-old’s half sister, Samantha, has admitted the arrival of the ‘Suits’ actress was a memorable moment for her, as she remembers the instant Meghan was born she was “so full of life” and had such a vibrant personality.
Speaking in the ITV show ‘Prince Harry and Meghan: Truly, Madly, Deeply’, which aired on Monday (06.11.17), Samantha said: “My father married her mother. It was like a gift when Meghan was born because she was so full of life and personality.
“She was always giggling and around the holidays it was wonderful. In our minds it was a beautiful inter-racial family.”
But Samantha believes Meghan – who is currently dating Prince Harry – was none the wiser to the “separation” in the family.
She said: “I don’t think Meghan ever really noticed there were two households. I don’t think she felt a separation.”
Samantha has hinted she knew the ‘Suits’ actress would have a successful career as an actress, as she used to be “a handful of characters”.
She said: “We were a very animated family, by the time she was six or seven she was involved in an acting studio in Hollywood. From early on, Meghan was a handful of characters busting to get out.”
Not only has Meghan’s sibling hailed her an upbeat child, but she has revealed her relative was always “prim and proper” when they were growing up, and so it came as no surprise to Meghan’s relative that she is dating a member of the royal family.
She said: “She’s very very classy, reserved, elegant and educated. She was prim and proper even when she was a child.”

Prince Charles is showered with gifts during Malaysia visit

OHMYGOSSIP — The Prince of Wales and his wife were showered with gifts on their recent visit to the Malaysian state Penang.
The 68-year-old royal and his spouse Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, were offered “fragrant garlands” and “silk shawls” to the couple when they visited the Sri Mahamariamman Hindu temple during their trip to help “attract positive vibes”.
Speaking about the offering, a local historian named Preveena Balakrishnan said: “We wanted to have a fragrant garland so we chose sandalwood – flower garlands will fade and die.
“The silk shawls are given to kings and queens and we believe silk has the power to attract positive vibes.”
During their visit the pair made their way to variety of religious sites for Christian, Muslim, Chinese and Hindu faiths in Penang’s capital of George Town.
The duo enjoyed a walk along the Street of Harmony before they arrived at the Sri Mahamariamman place of worship where they received the gifts.
As they ambled around the sit Charles and Camilla removed their footwear as a sign of respect and enjoyed a tour of the attraction, the Belfast Telegraph Online has reported.
The pair then visited the Kapitan Keling Mosque where they both removed their shoes once again, and Camilla covered her head out of respect for the religion.
The duo were later treated to a dramatic lion dance performance before they entered the Han Jiang Ancestral Temple.
And images of Charles and Camilla at the various sites have been shared with their fans on social media.
The Clarence House Instagram has posted a string of images of them during their trip, which have been captioned: “In beautiful #Penang this morning, The Prince and The Duchess visited the Street of Harmony, where there are many places of worship.

Prince William thinks children deal with ‘considerable’ amount of pressure

OHMYGOSSIP — The Duke of Cambridge believes children have a “considerable” amount of “pressure” on them.
The 35-year-old royal believes youngsters are being put through their paces a lot more now than they ever used to be, and he thinks kids today are treated a lot differently than his “generation” were because they are “tested more than ever”.
Speaking at a gala in support of the Children’s Trust and SkillForce at London’s Roundhouse, which has been reported by The Telegraph Online, Prince William – who has four-year-old son Prince George and two-year-old daughter Princess Charlotte with his wife Duchess Catherine – said: “The pressure on young people these days is considerable – almost certainly more than even for my generation not so long ago.
“Children are tested more than ever before and are being prepared to enter a highly competitive work market.”
And William thinks social media does not help children either, and he has likened people being savvy on their phones to being “on call 24/7”, which he believes will inevitably put a “strain” on relationships, home life, and a person’s “self worth”.
He continued: “On top of this, there is a sense of being ‘on call’ 24/7 through social media, and the subsequent strains this can have on relationships, home life and, ultimately, a child’s sense of their own self-worth. It can all take its toll.
“Role-modelling and giving a child the tools of courage, discipline and resilience are a demonstration of great love and commitment to that child’s success in life.
“If you are not taught these skills at a young age, it can be very, very difficult to learn them as an adult.”
