Prince George holds hands with father to show important ‘bond’

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince George reportedly always holds his father Prince William’s hand to “reflect the importance” of their “bond”.
Parenting expert Jasmine Peters has revealed that the four-year-old prince is likely to always be close to the 35-year-old royal – who is expecting a third child with wife Duchess Catherine – when seen out in public, to show that he is raising him ready for his future role as King.
Whilst two-year-old Princess Charlotte is also holding her mother Catherine’s hand to show they are “loving parents”.
Peters told the Daily Mail newspaper: “It is not uncommon to see a father with his son to set the foundation of what his role and responsibilities will be in life with a family.
“It is often believed that it takes a man to raise a boy to be a man.
“It could reflect that Catherine and William are traditional, but it also reflects the importance of the bond created between father and son and mother and daughter that they both treasure and hold dearly as responsible and loving parents.”
Meanwhile, Charlotte will be starting London’s Willcocks Nursery this month, and Catherine will be encouraged to take part in “stay and play” sessions with her daughter to help the youngster settle in.
William may well also attend the regular “fathers’ breakfasts” put on by the education establishment.
The nursery has 32 kids aged between two and five, and the youngsters are split up into three age groups named after birds, Cygnets, Swifts, Swallows and Swans.
Charlotte won’t be required to wear a uniform at Willcocks, where morning sessions are priced at £3,050 a term, and £1,800 for the afternoons, meaning parents fork out £14,550 a year for their youngsters to attend both sessions for three terms.
There is also an informal Lunch Club session which can be added on to the package, where kids bring a packed lunch with healthy eating encouraged.
The nursery – located near to London’s Royal Albert Hall – received an Outstanding rating in its latest Ofsted report, and they are excited for Charlotte’s impending arrival.
Willcocks Nursery School said previously:” “We are delighted that The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have chosen the Willcocks Nursery School for Princess Charlotte. We look forward to welcoming Charlotte to our nursery in January.”

Queen Elizabeth to feature in Coronation documentary

OHMYGOSSIP — Queen Elizabeth is set to make a rare appearance in a television documentary to discuss her coronation.
The 91-year-old monarch will appear in an upcoming BBC documentary – which tells the story of the crown jewels and the ceremony of crowning a new monarch – where she will be talking to royal commentator Alastair Bruce about her own experiences with the coronation ceremony.
Queen Elizabeth dubbed the event as “remarkable”, and said that prior to being crowned herself in 1952, she had only witnessed one coronation, when her father George VI was made King in 1937.
She said: “I’ve seen one coronation, and been the recipient in the other, which is pretty remarkable.”
Other quotes from the Queen’s interview are being withheld by the BBC until the documentary airs later this month, but the project is believed to feature other people who were involved in her coronation, including a choirboy who found himself singing solo when when his colleagues – overwhelmed by the occasion – lost their voices.
The BBC’s director of content, Charlotte Moore, said: “It is a real honour to have Her Majesty the Queen revealing her intimate knowledge of the Crown Jewels – and fond childhood memories from when her father was crowned King George VI in this very special film for BBC One.
“In her own words, the Queen will bring to life the enduring symbolic importance of the coronation ceremonies for modern audiences to enjoy.”
The documentary – which is entitled ‘The Coronation’ – is part of the Royal Collection Season, a partnership between the BBC and Royal Collection Trust, which also features the four-part television series ‘Art, Passion & Power: The Story Of The Royal Collection’.
Queen Elizabeth’s coronation in 1952 has seen her be named as the longest reigning monarch, and the public won’t be able to see a new ceremony until her son Prince Charles is crowned King once the Queen sadly passes away.
‘The Coronation’ will be screened on BBC One on January 14 at 8pm.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Monaco getaway

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince Harry and Meghan Markle partied in a “very private” region of Monaco to celebrate the start of 2018.
The 33-year-old royal and his fiancée were spotted flying economy class to Nice in the French Riviera over the weekend to start their New Year’s celebrations, but it has now been revealed the pair didn’t stay in the city long before getting into a helicopter and being whisked off to Monaco.
Whilst there, the pair reportedly “partied like tycoons” with the likes of Prince Albert of Monaco, and his wife, Princess Charlene, before their brief visit was drawn to a close when the couple flew back to England on Tuesday (02.01.18).
A source told MailOnline: Harry and Meghan were somewhere very private and very expensive. Monte Carlo is party central at this time of the year, and the word is that the British royals really enjoyed themselves.
“The fun could well have been laid on by Prince Albert, who is a close friend of Harry’s. What’s certain is that they were partying like tycoons on New Year’s Day. Fun around Monaco is never understated, and always costs a fortune!”
However, a spokesperson for the Prince’s Palace of Monaco has dismissed the claims Harry and Meghan spent any time with Albert and Charlene.
They said: “I haven’t got any information about that. I’m not aware of it at all, not at all. It must have been private if it was the case, but I don’t know about it at all. It’s news to me.”
Harry and Meghan’s quick trip comes just before they are set to make their first royal engagement of 2018 next week, as they will be heading off to youth-orientated Reprezent FM in Brixton, London, on January 9.
Whilst at the radio studio, Harry and Meghan, 36, will learn more about the training programmes, and meet some of the current and former volunteers who have benefited from their time on the courses.

Prince William and Duchess Catherine to visit Coventry

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince William and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, are set to make a royal visit to Coventry later this month.
The royal couple – who are parents to Prince George, four, and Princess Charlotte, two, as well as expecting a third child in April – have made plans to head to the central English city on January 16, which has been named the UK City of Culture for 2021.
During the trip, William and Catherine will visit landmarks including Coventry Cathedral and Coventry University, as well as The Positive Youth Foundation, which is a non-profit organisation based in the city centre, specialising in helping young people across Coventry.
Last year, the foundation was awarded the Gold Standard for Investors In People (IIP), for its work in helping young people across the Midlands to improve their lives.
William and Catherine, both 35, will start their visit at Coventry Cathedral, where they will have a short tour, before taking part in the Coventry Litany of Reconciliation.
Here, they will also meet members of the choir, along with volunteers at the Cathedral’s social enterprise, the Rising Cafe, which provides work and opportunities for those overcoming drug and alcohol addictions.
The royal duo will then move on to Coventry University where they are set to open the new £59 million Science and Health Building.
The impressive new facility is the first of its kind in the UK, and will allow students to learn to care for a patient at every stage of their medical experience; from paramedics arriving at their house and their ambulance journey, to their stay in hospital, through to their rehabilitation at home.
For Catherine, the trip to Coventry will be one of her last royal outings before giving birth in four months time.
Recently, a source claimed the beauty was “feeling great” about her pregnancy, after having suffered from Hyperemesis Gravidarum – which is a severe form of morning sickness – in her first trimester as she did with her previous pregnancies.
They said: “[She is] enjoying her later months of pregnancy and feeling great. It’s amazing what a difference the later trimesters feel like compared to the early days, which she really struggled with more than ever this time.”

Kensington Palace share family highlights reel

OHMYGOSSIP — Kensington Palace has shared a video of the Royal Family’s important “family moments” of 2017.
To celebrate the start of 2018, the royal household posted a touching video on Instagram earlier this week where they listed some of the family’s main achievements over the past 12 months, including four-year-old Prince George’s first day of school, and the recent engagement between 33-year-old Prince Harry and his partner Meghan Markle.
Short captions accompanied each of the pictures included on the slideshow, which read: “In Germany, Princess Charlotte received her first posey.
“Prince George started school.
“Prince George and Princess Charlotte took part in their aunt Pippa’s wedding.
“The whole family enjoyed Trooping the Colour from the Buckingham Palace balcony.
“The Duke and Prince Harry paid tribute to the life and work of their mother Diana, Princess of Wales on the twentieth anniversary of her death.
“The Sunken Garden at Kensington Palace was transformed into a White Garden in her memory.
“Their Royal Highnesses also released some new photos of their mother.
“The Duke of Cambridge completed his last shift as an air ambulance pilot.
“Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced their engagement.
“The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge released their Christmas Card. (sic)”
Kensington Palace captioned the video: “For our final highlights video, let’s take a look back at some of the key family moments this year.”
However, some fans have been left disappointed by the highlights reel, as one key part of 2017 has been missed from the list.
In September, Prince William and his wife Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge – who are parents to four-year-old Prince George and two-year-old Princess Charlotte – announced they were expecting their third child together, who is due to be born in April this year.
The pregnancy announcement didn’t make into the highlights reel, but the fond memories are no doubt being saved for 2018’s video, when the tot will have been welcomed into the world.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to visit radio station

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are set to visit a radio station in Brixton for their first royal engagement of 2018.
The 33-year-old royal and his fiancée will make a trip to youth-orientated radio station Reprezent FM in the London district of Brixton on January 9, in what will be one of their first royal engagements since becoming engaged late last year.
Reprezent FM was founded in 2008 as a response to the rise in knife crime in South London, and runs accredited training in topics ranging from audio and radio production and editing, to communication skills and confidence building, work experience and volunteering.
Whilst at the radio studio, Harry and Meghan, 36, will learn more about the training programmes, and meet some of the current and former volunteers who have benefited from their time on the courses.
Kensington Palace confirmed the proposed visit on Tuesday (02.01.18) when they tweeted: “Prince Harry and Ms Markle will visit @ReprezentRadio in Brixton on 9th January, to see their work supporting young people through creative training in radio and broadcasting, and to learn more about their model of using music, radio and media for social impact.”
It comes shortly after Harry and Meghan’s first ever royal visit as an engaged couple, which took place shortly after they announced their plans to wed, and was in the form of a trip to Nottingham for a series of royal duties.
During their visit, the pair headed to the Terrence Higgins Trust World Aids Day charity fair and also visited Nottingham Academy, where they met with headteachers taking part in the Full Effect programme, which aims to stop young people getting involved in violence and crime.
And former ‘Suits’ actress Meghan admitted she was “thrilled” to visit the city.
She told one member of the crowd that had gathered to greet them: “I’m so happy. It’s just such a thrill to be here.”

Princess Diana would support Harry and Meghan

OHMYGOSSIP — Princess Diana would be “so happy” about her son Prince Harry’s engagement to Meghan Markle, according to her astrologer Debbie Frank.
The late royal – who passed away when she was involved in a fatal car crash in Paris, France, in 1997 – will miss out on the chance to see her youngest son Harry marry his fiancée in May this year, but her former astrologer Debbie Frank has insisted the Princess would have been thrilled by their romance.
Debbie said: “She’d be so happy that he was getting to marry the person he wanted to marry, that Meghan is such a different person. She’d really admire Harry for bringing her in.”
The astrologer – who worked with the late Princess from 1989 up until her death – claims Diana had a “glint in her eye” whenever she spoke about her flame-haired son, whom she always knew would be different to other royals.
Debbie added: “Diana would always have a giggle and a glint in her eye when she talked about Harry.
“She would be rueful about him and what was going to happen for Harry, and she knew he had all this energy and it was going to be hard for him to conform to real life.”
Princess Diana – who was also mother to Prince William – hoped that Harry would break free from the shadow of his 35-year-old brother, and Debbie believes that becoming engaged to American actress Meghan has allowed him to do just that.
Speaking to The Sun newspaper, Debbie said: “On one of the last times we spoke over the phone, she said, ‘I hope Harry will do things his own way and be able to be out of the shadow of William’. By proposing to Meghan he has done that.”
Harry and Meghan, 36, will tie the knot on May 19 this year, in a service held at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle.

Prince Charles to tackle more royal duties

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince Charles is set to take on even more royal duties in 2018.
The 69-year-old royal was involved in a whopping 546 royal engagements throughout 2017, the most of any royal, and the new year could see him take on even more as his mother, Queen Elizabeth, is to start scaling back her state duties.
Prince Charles is the heir to the throne and will become King when his 91-year-old mother passes away, and has therefore been the first to step up to take over royal duties from the current monarch.
However, because of his increased royal workload, Charles has been forced to reduce his charity work, and has forced the prince to “review” his charities in the run-up to his milestone 70th birthday later this year.
A Clarence House spokesperson said: “The approach of the Prince’s 70th birthday provided a sensible opportunity to review his charities to ensure that they continue to deliver the maximum benefit for those people they were set up to help.
“The review was also designed to ensure the Prince’s involvement was at the right level and had the right focus.
“This will ensure that the charities become sustainable with less necessity for the engagement of HRH on a day-to-day basis, and will contribute in building a lasting legacy of his philanthropic work.”
Queen Elizabeth’s decision to take part in less royal duties comes after her 96-year-old husband Prince Philip retired from all solo engagements in August last year.
A statement released at the time read: “His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh has decided that he will no longer carry out public engagements from the autumn of this year. In taking this decision.
“Prince Philip will attend previously scheduled engagements between now and August, both individually and accompanying The Queen. Thereafter, The Duke will not be accepting new invitations for visits and engagements.
“Although he may still choose to attend certain public events from time to time.”

Queen Elizabeth spends New Year at Sandringham

OHMYGOSSIP — Queen Elizabeth celebrated the New Year with her family at her Sandringham Estate.
The 91-year-old royal was keen not to waste any time with her family during the holiday season, as she was spotted heading to the church on Sunday (31.12.17) morning to celebrate the final day of the year.
Queen Elizabeth was joined at the church service by her husband Prince Philip, as well as Sophie Wessex and her husband Edward, and Princess Anne.
However, noticeably absent from the celebrations were Prince William and Duchess Catherine, and Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, who had all been present at the Christmas Day (25.12.17) ceremony last week.
Whilst its unknown where William and his wife – who have four-year-old Prince George, two-year-old Princess Charlotte, and a third baby on the way – spent their New Year’s Eve, Harry and Meghan were spotted jetting off to the French Riviera earlier that day for a quick romantic break.
It comes after the 33-year-old royal claimed his fiancée had a “fantastic” time during her first festive reason with the royal family.
Harry said: “It was fantastic, she really enjoyed it. The family loved having her there. There is always that family part of Christmas and there’s that work element as well.
“And I think together we had an amazing time staying with my brother and sister-in-law. We were running around with the kids and Christmas was fantastic.
“As I said we are really looking forward to the New Year and looking forward to 2018 because I’m determined to make sure that the pendulum is going to swing and 2018 is going to be a fantastic year.”
Meghan, 36, and Harry, will marry in May next year, and the flame-haired royal is amazed at how stuck in the ‘Suits’ actress is getting when it comes to dealing with his large and extended family.
He added: “I think we’ve got one the biggest families I know and every family is complex. She has done an absolutely amazing job, just getting in there and it’s the family, I suppose, that she’s never had.”

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s romantic getaway

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince Harry and Meghan Markle celebrated the start of 2018 in the French Riviera.
The 33-year-old royal and his fiancée jetted off to Nice on a British Airways flight out of London’s Heathrow airport on New Year’s Eve (31.12.17), where they had a less than glamorous start to their celebrations when they were seated in economy class next to the toilets.
Harry and Meghan are said to have boarded the plane before other passengers, and were accompanied by “edgy and nervous” bodyguards who took up three rows of seats surrounding the loved-up couple.
When the plane landed in the French city, the pair were reportedly met by two heavily armed officers from the French border police, before being escorted through VIP area of the airport.
According to sources, Harry and his 36-year-old beau also had protection from France’s elite Service de la Protection – the police unit responsible for the protection of foreign dignitaries – during their romantic getaway.
But the security wasn’t requested by the pair, as an insider told the Daily Express newspaper: “No, it would have been offered and would have been non-negotiable. After what happened to his mother in this country and the issue of terrorism, it would be insisted on even for a private trip such as this.”
It is believed that the flame-haired royal and the former ‘Suits’ actress will stay for several days at a private residence in the Riviera region, after having rung in the New Year at midnight on Monday (01.01.18).
The trip comes as one of their first romantic getaways since announcing their engagement late last year.
Harry and Meghan intend on tying the knot on May 19 this year, at a service held at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle.
Kensington Palace had announced in December: “His Royal Highness Prince Henry of Wales and Ms. Meghan Markle will marry on 19th May 2018. Today’s announcement follows earlier confirmation of the month of the wedding and its location at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle.”

Princess Charlotte’s popular name

OHMYGOSSIP — Princess Charlotte has helped increase the popularity of her moniker.
The two-year-old daughter of Prince William and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, is being hailed as one of the defining reasons as to why her name has seen an increase in popularity amongst babies born over the past year.
In a poll conducted by the Daily Telegraph newspaper, Charlotte topped the list as the most popular name of 2017, where the moniker tied with Matilda as the name appearing most frequently in the newspaper’s Birth Announcements.
Despite the young Princess influencing new parents to name their child after her, her older brother Prince George, four, didn’t have the same impact, with his name coming in fifth place, tied with Alfred, Oscar, and William.
Speaking about the results, Susan Cole – who has been compiling the figures since 1969 – said: “Charlotte comes top for the first time since the arrival of Princess Charlotte. Matilda, surprisingly, rose to share first place, and Alice comes next.
“At the bottom of the list there are a few interesting new arrivals – India, Ivy, Olive – now ahead of the fashionable form, Olivia. Sofia is a very exotic spelling for England.
“For the boys, Edward once more leads the field. Jack and Oliver tie with a new arrivals, Rufus, and at the bottom of the top twenty areArchie, Hugo, Leo and Theodore”.
The new research from the British newspaper comes after it was previously revealed that Prince George placed third on the Office of National Statistics’ list of most popular boys’ names for 2016, with the royal sharing his moniker with 5,263 babies born in the UK that year.
Charlotte, meanwhile, proved slightly less popular on the list of girls’ names, coming in at number 12. However, thanks to the Princess, the moniker was one of the highest climbing names of 2016, with 2,596 baby girls sharing the title.

Queen Elizabeth’s Christmas gifts revealed

OHMYGOSSIP — Queen Elizabeth’s Christmas gifts for her staff have been unveiled.
The 91-year-old monarch gifts her personal staff at Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle and Sandringham – her three residences – something to mark the holiday season and previous presents include everything from salt and pepper shakers to a crystal bowl.
The gifts have been revealed now they have been acquired by Royal memorabilia dealer Ian Shapiro. Shapiro has managed to get his hands on the collection, saved by one of the personal staff who worked for the royal family for over a decade.
In 2002, it was a stunning blue enamel box with the royal crest etched onto it whilst for 2004, all staff were given a crystal bowl with the words “Christmas 2004, presented by Her Majesty the Queen” etched into the centre of the glass. In 2006, to also remember the Queen’s 80th birthday, they were handed a photograph of Her Majesty in a neat little frame.
It was the silver plated salt and pepper set in 2011 whilst staff received a gift of a Loving Cup in 2013. For 2014, there were two gifts – a pair of blue cufflinks with ER emblazoned on them and a Fortnum and Mason Christmas pudding. It reads on its label: “Traditional Christmas pudding. Especially prepared for the Royal Household by Fortnum and Mason”. Inside, it promises a “rich plum and brandy pudding made to an exclusive recipe”. It was presented in a decorative box.
In 2015, the gift was an alarm clock with ER on the front, which swung open to reveal the clock face. Christmas 2015 was also etched onto the clock face.
Mr Shapiro said of the gifts: “The range of gifts from the Queen reveals a degree of annual thought and imagination. They seldom come on to the open market but certain have fetched a few hundred pounds when offered on public auction.”

A busy 2018 for the royals

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding leads a busy 2018 for the royal family.
The flame-haired royal is set to tie the knot with the ‘Suits’ actress on May 19 at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle, Berkshire – the same day as the FA Cup Final.
Kensington Palace had announced earlier this month: “His Royal Highness Prince Henry of Wales and Ms. Meghan Markle will marry on 19th May 2018. Today’s announcement follows earlier confirmation of the month of the wedding and its location at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle.”
2018 will also be a big year for Prince Harry’s brother Prince William and his wife, Duchess Catherine, as they will welcome their third child into the world in April.
In October, Kensington Palace announced the couple would be expecting their baby in April.
A spokesperson said in a statement: “The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are delighted to confirm they are expecting a baby in April 2018.”
The child will be fifth in line to the throne, with the couple expected to choose a very traditional name. Alice, Amelia, Albert and Charles are some of the top contenders.
It also marks a big year for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s daughter Princess Charlotte, two, who will be attending nursery next year at Willcocks Nursery School in Kensington. Prince George will continue at Thomas’s Battersea.
Following their marriage, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will embark on their first royal tour as a married couple. It is thought they could go to Canada as it was Meghan’s home for a number of years. In October 2018, the Invictus Games – which Prince Harry set up for wounded ex-service personnel – will take place in Sydney, and it is incredibly likely that the newly-married couple will make their way over to Australia for the games.

Meghan Markle considered for Bond girl role

OHMYGOSSIP — Meghan Markle was reportedly shortlisted to be the next Bond girl before her relationship with Prince Harry took off.
The 36-year-old actress has had to leave her Hollywood dreams behind her since finding love with the flame-haired royal – whom she is set to marry in May next year – and that includes abandoning her chances of becoming an iconic Bond girl in the next James Bond movie, which was set for release in 2019.
Sources claim Meghan was put on a shortlist alongside actresses including Ilfenesh Hadera and Margot Robbie, but was deemed “out of the running” when her romance with Prince Harry came to light.
An insider told The Sun newspaper: “Meghan fits the role of a Bond girl perfectly. She’s glamorous and sexy and a good actress. The role more recently has gone to actresses deemed to be rising stars, and Meghan certainly was seen as that before her relationship with Harry became public. The brief was to find a glamorous rising star, specifically someone American or Canadian.
“Producers had narrowed down her and four other actresses on a shortlist last year with Bond 25 in mind. But the minute her relationship to Harry came to light they assumed she was out of the running so it soon became a list of four. Her engagement effectively spelt an end to her acting career too so that was the final blow.”
Since becoming engaged to Harry, 33, Meghan has given up her career as an actress – for which she was most known as Rachel Zane in legal drama ‘Suits’ – and Kensington Palace recently confirmed she would also be stepping down from her charity work with the United Nations, World Vision Canada, and One Young World.
But Meghan doesn’t see her decisions as “giving up”.
When asked about her decision to give up acting, Meghan said: “I don’t see it as giving anything up. I just see it as a change.”
Meghan will tie the knot with Prince Harry on May 19 next year, at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle.

Princess Diana’s land mine campaign gets new funding

OHMYGOSSIP — Princess Diana’s campaign to clear war zones of land mines has been given extra British aid funding.
The late royal – who tragically passed away in 1997 when she was involved in a fatal car crash in Paris, France – championed the fight to clear land mines from various war zones across the world through her work with charities such as The HALO Trust.
And now, thanks to the Mine Advisory Group’s Walk Without Fear Christmas appeal held by BBC Radio 4, the mission to rid the world of the explosive devices will now be given an extra £400,000 to help with the process.
It comes after a whopping £200,000 was raised in donations, which was then matched by the UK government’s Department for International Development.
The whopping total comes after International Development Secretary Penny Mordaunt pledged a further £100 milllion over three years whilst at an event supported by the late Princess of Wales’ son Prince Harry earlier this year.
De-mining work is expected to take place in countries including Iraq, Lebanon, Sudan, Syria, Yemen, and Angola, where Princess Diana famously walked through a mine field in 1997 to highlight the danger to civilians.
Speaking about continuing the fight against land mines, Penny Mordaunt said: “Landmines have left a shameful legacy of suffering across the world, and the British public can be proud of their contribution to eradicating this hidden, indiscriminate killer.
“These barbaric weapons of war kill innocent people years after a conflict has ended, and have left so many devastated families mourning the loss of loved ones.
“The thousands that do survive have been left maimed and seriously disabled forever, unable to work, unable to feed their families and suffering from a lifetime of debilitating pain.
“Twenty years after Princess Diana’s call for action resonated in every corner of the world, Britain is at the forefront in saving thousands of lives and ensuring that future generations will now have the chance to live without fear of being killed by a weapon from the past.”

Prince Charles ‘proud’ of Prince Harry

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince Charles is “proud” of his son Prince Harry for his passion toward environmental issues.
The 69-year-old royal has long been a campaigner to raise awareness about the threat of climate change, and although he’s worried he may have “bored” his brood “to tears” with the amount he has discussed the subject, he was pleased to hear his youngest son Harry has followed in his footsteps and taken an interest in the important topic.
Speaking in an interview conducted by Prince Harry, 33, for his position as guest-editor of BBC Radio 4’s ‘Today’ programme, Harry told his father: “I totally see it and I totally understand it because of all these years of conversations that we’ve been having and I do end up picking your brains more now than I ever have done.
“So rest assured that all of that information that you have that I know can be incredibly demoralising I suppose because you are not seeing the results, yet you know what is happening, or you could see fifteen years ago what was going to happen today, and sure enough it is all happening. Despite the fact that we have had these conversations and despite the fact that I know how you must feel.
“Coming from a younger generation it is incredibly exciting and I feel optimistic about the future because now is a real test for, a real test for humanity to be able to swing that pendulum and say right in order for us to make our mark on this planet and in order for us to be able to preserve it then we have to A work together but B look after nature and allow it to give us those clues that you so rightly talk about.”
To which Charles replied: “Well darling boy it makes me very proud to think that you understand.”
And when Harry added that he was “listening”, Charles claimed: “That’s even more amazing.”
Prince Charles – who is also father to Prince William – was also given a huge sense of “optimism” during the interview, as his son showed a keen interest in his work as an environmentalist.
He said: “Well my dear boy, if I may say so, the fact you are saying this gives me enormous optimism because I haven’t put you off.”
