Lucas Bravo doesn’t like his ‘clean-shaven’ look in Emily in Paris

OHMYGOSSIP — Lucas Bravo admits he doesn’t like his ‘Emily in Paris’ character Gabriel’s “clean-shaven short cut look”.
Whilst fans swoon over his good looks on the hit Netflix series, the 36-year-old heartthrob has confessed he prefers having long hair and a beard.
He told PEOPLE: “I feel like every time I try to be myself and let things grow, people don’t really want me to look like anything else than Gabriel.
“But I don’t really take the clean-shaven short cut look, I’m more about letting things grow.”
Lucas grew his hair for his role in HBO’s ‘Dangerous Liaisons’.
He said: “I’m shooting Dangerous Liaisons for HBO and there’s going to be a lot of sword fighting, horse riding, and a beautiful mustache and long hair.”
Meanwhile, Lucas has admitted he feels like he knew himself “better” before ‘Emily In Paris’.
The French actor – who plays Emily Cooper’s (Lily Collins) attractive neighbour – admitted he still suffers with “self-doubt” even after the comedy drama’s huge success.
He told the UK’s Independent newspaper: “Professionally and financially speaking, I wasn’t where I wanted to be [before ‘Emily In Paris’].
“At the same time, I felt like I knew myself better back then. I had more clarity and a lot less anxiety.
“I’d been chasing that goal for 27 years. But once you step into it, it’s hard to find another purpose. Every level has its own paralysing self-doubt.”
Lucas insisted he is “doing well” and “fine” despite opening up in a such a candid way.
He added: “Being deep doesn’t mean you’re depressed. It’s just important to talk about these things.”
In the past, he tried to explain the difference between real life for a successful actor, and the assumptions people might make.
He recalled: “I wanted to bring nuance to the fact that just because you do one season of a Netflix show doesn’t mean you have a beautiful house in the hills, and that you’re rich and you’re set for life and you’re happy.
“You’re allowed, as a human being, to go through a huge range of emotions and to question things. It doesn’t mean you’re not grateful, or you’re not enjoying the ride…
“It just means things are real. We’re complex. It’s not black and white.”
Similarly, playing “the boy next door” chef in ‘Emily In Paris’ hasn’t come easy for him, particularly as he tries not to focus too much on looks.
He said: “‘Emily in Paris’ is a very aesthetic-driven show, so of course you get self-conscious.
“But I’m trying as much as possible not to focus on looks – it doesn’t allow you to really lose yourself in a character.”

Rihanna’s ‘magical’ perfume

The pop star is the new face of the fragrance – taking over from longtime ambassador Charlize Theron – and she has shot a new campaign in the French palace of Versailles and Rihanna has revealed she’s been transfixed by J’Adore ever since her mum brought home samples of it.
She told Vogue: “My mother worked in a perfume shop. She used to bring home the J’adore testers when they were almost empty, so there was always a bottle in the house. I have always loved this perfume.”
The singer added of shooting the adverts at Versailles: “Versailles is enchanting. Everything is astonishingly beautiful. It embodies so much history and the magnitude of French luxury.
“Being able to wander around there early in the morning was a privilege and breathtaking experience from beginning to end.”
In a statement, Rihanna went on to express her love for the perfume, saying: “J’Adore makes a woman feel they can become who they really want to be, deep down inside. It’s magical.
“[The J’Adore woman is] beautiful, strong, sexy and resilient at the same time.”
Photographer Steven Klein added of the new campaign: “With J’Adore, everything was focused on gold and light. I wanted to create a visual dialogue between the classical style of the 18th century and Rihanna’s incredibly contemporary beauty.
“This film invents a new universe that bridges several worlds and several eras, and manages to achieve a natural and radiant universal appeal.”

Emma Corrin inspired by Katharine Hepburn and Marlene Dietrich

OHMYGOSSIP — Emma Corrin’s ‘Deadpool Wolverine’ promotional style was inspired by Katharine Hepburn and Marlene Dietrich.
The 28-year-old actor and their stylist Harry Lambert went for a “modern Old Hollywood” influence as they planned out Emma’s looks for the press tour.
Emma told US Vogue: “We looked at Katharine Hepburn and Marlene Dietrich. That’s where the conversation started and then they morphed into their own thing, as they normally do with me and Harry.
“Because of the size of this tour and the scale of the project, we knew that we needed to start early. Mainly, I feel like we just wanted to do our usual fun, quite wild thing, but take it a step further because it’s Marvel.
“I love Harry and we very much have a shared sense of style, and a shared sense of risk-taking. We get enjoyment out of being fun and a bit unexpected with looks.”
Harry explained that he and Emma also took inspiration from Emma’s supervillain alter-ego Cassandra Nova but did not want to “go full into that world too much”.
Harry said: “Although there were a few nods there, we tried to not go full into that world too much. I think it was more about an essence rather than a direct reference.
“[It] works for some people, but I think you can end up getting a little bit deep into a movie. It doesn’t necessarily always have to link to the character that you’re portraying. The essence of Cassandra can come out in the makeup, hair, and energy rather than being too literal.
“The looks really had a slight gothic-ness to them, a slight evil, a slight darkness to them.”

Alec Baldwin credits 30 Rock for his style

OHMYGOSSIP — Alec Baldwin credits ’30 Rock’ for his style.
The 66-year-old actor played TV executive Jack Donaghy on the sitcom for seven years and revealed he managed to keep most of his alter-ego’s stylish wardrobe.
He told WWD: “I was in a suit and tie every day for seven years. Tom Broecker was our wardrobe designer as well as for ‘SNL’ for years. Thanks to him, I probably have 200 suits, 300 shirts from Zegna, Brooks Brothers and others.
“I wore a suit and tie at work and at the end of the day, in my wardrobe, I would meet friends at a Manhattan restaurant dressed pretty well. I got hooked.”
However, Alec admitted his style changed when the show ended.
He said: “When the show ended, I started dressing like I was coming to your house to clean your pool and I wanted to get dressed again and wear the uniform of the Chinese Communist Party.”
Yet, Alec still loves to get dressed up and is a big fan of Savile Row’s Douglas Hayward, which he discovered when he was shooting in Belfast, Northern Ireland, many years ago.
He said: “It was a little cooler than I thought up there in the spring. They’ve got one men’s shop and they had this wonderful jacket — it was Douglas Hayward. It was beautiful.”
Now, Alec is helping Arnold Brant Silverstone and his partners launch the brand in America, although he joked he could be replaced by a more stylish celebrity.
He quipped: “It’ll be Christian Bale soon.”

Britney Spears felt a ‘huge difference’ in personality after dyeing her hair platinum blonde

OHMYGOSSIP — Britney Spears felt a “huge difference” in her personality when she dyed her hair platinum blonde.
The 42-year-old pop superstar has sported fair locks throughout much of her career but following a brief break from social media, took to her platform on Tuesday (14.08.24) to share a throwback clip of herself from the first time she decided to go silvery-blonde with her hair.
She wrote on Instagram: “First time I went platinum blonde ever !!! Honestly it was a huge difference !!! I became this cool character right when the camera came on !!!! Then I don’t know what happened!!! Throwback exactly a year ago!”
The ‘Oops!…I Did It Again’ hitmaker has sported a number of different hairstyles throughout her career and found worldwide fame when she wore honeyed pigtails fashioned with pink hair ties as part of her schoolgirl ensemble for her ‘…Baby One More Time’ video.
Throughout the early 2000s, Britney favoured a bright blonde look but then infamously shaved her head in 2007 before opting for dark brown locks for a period of time.
On the cover of her 2007 album ‘Blackout’, she wore a jet black wig but quickly went back to her signature blonde for the ‘Circus’ album two years later, and in more recent years has coloured her hair a variety of shades including red, pink and purple.
The ‘Toxic’ hitmaker revealed in her 2023 autobiography ‘The Woman In Me’ – which was released following the termination of a conservatorship that had given her immediate family control over her finances, career decisions and other aspects of her life – that her natural colour is in fact black.
She wrote: “I’m not offended by all the dumb blonde jokes because I know I’m not dumb. And I also know that I’m not blonde. My real hair colour is black.”

Katie Holmes ‘won’t change how she dresses’

OHMYGOSSIP — Katie Holmes doesn’t allow her fame to influence her style.
The 45-year-old actress believes movie stars are facing more pressures than ever before to look good when they’re not working – but that doesn’t change how Katie approaches fashion and beauty.
The Hollywood star told Town and Country magazine: “Fashion is really big, and it didn’t used to be.
“As an actor, you weren’t necessarily photographed all the time on the street. It’s different now, and it’s flattering, but it doesn’t change how I live or dress.”
Katie insisted she won’t be dictated to by outside pressures.
She shared: “I’m adamant about having a life and not letting this industry dictate decisions as simple as what I wear or as complicated as what I do. You don’t want to be afraid of anything, right?”
In June, Katie explained that her acting career has served as her fashion “education”.
The actress – who previously played Joey Potter on ‘Dawson’s Creek’ – revealed that she’s been inspired by her experience of working on TV shows and movies.
Speaking to The Sunday Times newspaper, Katie shared: “I feel my education in clothes and their meaning came out of working in television and movies, working with great costume designers and having it explained to me what it means if a character has a cable-knit sweater over a plain sweater, and how that reveals a part of them.
“I fell in love with thinking like that, and letting the clothes really dictate a certain part of someone’s essence.”
Katie has her own collection with the French brand APC, and the actress revealed that she also finds inspiration in everyday life.
She said: “I really look at other people that have an innate sense of style. And I’m like, ‘Oh – that with that! OK, that’s cool.’ I’m always looking for inspiration. ”

Ashley Graham: Rejection has made me more successful

OHMYGOSSIP — Ashley Graham believes rejection has actually made her more successful.
The 36-year-old model – who co-hosts the TV show ‘Side Hustlers’ with Emma Grede – believes that facing setbacks and learning from them is an important part of becoming a success in life.
Speaking about the second season of her TV show, Ashley told ‘TODAY’: “We didn’t sugarcoat anything. Emma is not a sugarcoater anyways … I’m more of a sugarcoater.
“But we have to tell them like it is. There’s no … otherwise they’re not going to be successful.
“The nos we’ve had have made us more successful.”
Ashley and Emma both perform the roles of would-be investors on their TV show, and the brunette beauty previously insisted that there’s nothing wrong with being brutally honest with the contestants.
Ashley – who has previously featured on the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue – told ‘CBS Mornings’: “We’re not just investing in an idea.
“We’re investing in a founder and the woman behind the idea. And if we’re going to met with challenges along the way, with giving our unsolicited advice and giving them our encouragement … giving them our time and our money at the end of the day, they need to listen.”
‘Side Hustlers’ was renewed for a second season earlier this year, and Emma admitted that she was looking forward to the challenge.
The 41-year-old entrepreneur said in a statement: “Working with the extraordinary women of season one to turn their dreams into realities was an unforgettable experience, and we can’t wait for viewers to see what we have in store for season two.”

Pamela Anderson stunned by the response to her make-up-free looks

OHMYGOSSIP — Pamela Anderson has been left shocked by the female response to her make-up-free appearances.
The ‘Baywatch’ beauty has opted for a totally natural look at a number of red carpet events over the past year and is proud to see how her appearance has resonated with other women.
Speaking to British Vogue at Copenhagen Fashion Week recently, Pamela said: “I have people come up to me on the street all the time.
“Even when I’m flying, I have women and their daughters coming up to me in airport lounges saying, ‘It means so much to me what you’re doing, you really had an impact on my children and my young girls.’ And I was like, ‘Wow, I didn’t expect anyone to even notice.'”
Pamela first adopted the look when she attended Paris Fashion Week last year and explained that stemmed from a desire to reject the pin-up persona that has defined her career in showbiz.
The 57-year-old star said: “I just wanted to strip it all back and say, ‘Okay people, this is what it really is.'”
Pamela is a global ambassador for the jewellery company Pandora and is delighted to have the chance to experiment with bling as she didn’t feel she “deserved” it when she was growing up.
The five-times married star joked: “I mean, everyone loves a wedding ring or engagement ring – although maybe I like those too much.
“But I think, other than that, I’m feeling more empowered to have my own jewellery, because everything carries memory. I look at my mum and my aunts and they’re all bedazzled head to toe.”
Pamela added: “I like to keep things really simple these days – just a white T-shirt and jeans – and then dress it up with jewellery. I love pearls, too, because they remind me of Grace Kelly, Carolina Herrera and Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy – those are my kind of style icons.”

Britney Spears wears ‘updated’ Versace dress in response to Blake Lively

OHMYGOSSIP — Britney Spears has responded to Blake Lively wearing her Versace dress with an “updated” version of the garment.
The ‘…Baby One More Time’ shared a video of herself on Instagram in the new gown dancing to the song ‘Your Love’ by The Outfield as she referenced the actress’ decision to wear the rainbow butterfly dress to the premiere of her film ‘It Ends With Us’ recently.
Britney captioned her post: “Updated version of my 2002 Versace dress. I’m no @blakelively but I like it… show my legs.”
The dress featured some design tweaks including side cutouts, a thigh-high slit and crisscrossing straps which the pop star paired with nude pumps and diamond jewellery.
Blake described how she felt “so lucky” to get to wear Britney’s dress on the red carpet in New York last week and posted a sweet message in honour of the singer on her Instagram story.
The 36-year-old actress wrote: “Today’s mood. The ultimate queen who made us all want to sparkle and write and share our stories.
“Britney, us millennials all have a story of a moment, or of years that you made us want to shine and inspire awe, with strength, and joy and immensely hard work. Thank you for your example and your contribution to women telling their stories. So excited about your Biopic and all you have to come.”
She added to PEOPLE: “It is Britney’s actual dress. It should be in the Smithsonian or the Met, but it’s on me … I feel so lucky.”

Charli XCX’s Brat Summer has inspired a Von Dutch renaissance

OHMYGOSSIP — Charli XCX has inspired a revival for Von Dutch.
The 32-year-old pop star released a song named after the US fashion brand earlier this year and searches for the company have soared during the singer’s ‘Brat Summer’ trend.
Marc Benitez, chief operating officer at Von Dutch, told WWD: “Charli XCX’s song ‘Von Dutch’ has been a game-changer during such an important time of our brand evolution. Her bold and rebellious energy – and empowering ‘Brat Summer’ movement – perfectly encapsulates what Von Dutch stands for.
“Her influence has bridged the gap between our loyal fans and a whole new audience discovering us for the first time.
“We’re honoured to be part of this cultural resurgence where people are not just wearing our clothes, but embodying the true spirit of Von Dutch. We couldn’t be more excited for Charli XCX, as well as this dynamic chapter in our journey.”
Von Dutch was worn by stars including Britney Spears and Paris Hilton during its heyday back in the early 2000s and a fashion expert says the brand has a “shameless” appeal that pre-dates the world of social media.
Amanda Marzolf of Underscore Talent said: “You can feel the same significance with ‘Brat’ right now, especially for Gen Z women in a nearly kindred way. The nostalgic urge to let it all go and let your bra strap show.
“(And) this resurgence feels right on time. Last summer was the year of ‘Barbie’, this time around it’s the rise of ‘Brat’.
“Women are empowered and the way to capitalise is to lean into key moments surrounding badass women like Charli XCX – women who embody the same unique fearlessness. Engage with music festivals and sustain by letting new and fresh creators make content inherently true to who they are.”

Gwyneth Paltrow has learned to love mascara

OHMYGOSSIP — Gwyneth Paltrow disliked mascara for years but she has learned to love it as she’s “gotten older”.
The Hollywood actress-turned-wellness guru recently launched her own Featherlash mascara for her Goop brand which is described as a hybrid product because it also contains lash-nourishing serum – and Gwyneth has admitted mascara has become a go-to product recently after spending years not liking it.
She told Refinery29.com: “I’ve become more of a mascara person, especially as I’ve gotten older. It’s the one thing that my makeup artist, Georgie [Eisdell] said to me. And I do think it makes a big difference in making your eyes more defined and looking more awake.”
Gwyneth went on to insist she doesn’t want to launch new products “just for the sake of it” but she felt there was a gap in the market for a “clean” mascara.
She added: “At Goop, I try to only make things when I feel really passionate about them, and if it’s something that I need and there’s a white space.
“I want it to be meaningful, and not just another product. There’s so many products on the market, there’s really no point in making something just for the sake of it.”
The actress previously opened up about her mascara issues in an article posted on Goop, explaining: “When you need a really major mascara – as I do on the red carpet – you need one, but I’d never found a clean one that did the job.
“And day-to-day, I don’t often want a dramatic look. What I do want is full, defined, healthy-looking lashes …
“I’m amazed this formula is clean. Your lashes just look incredible – lush, inky-black, never smudgy. And it’s a full-on treatment serum, too. I’m obsessed.”

Blake Lively felt ‘lucky’ to wear Britney Spears’ dress

OHMYGOSSIP — Blake Lively felt “so lucky” to wear Britney Spears’ multi-coloured Versace dress to the premiere of her new film.
The ‘Gossip Girl’ star, 36, paid tribute to the pop superstar by walking the red carpet at a screening of ‘It Ends With Us’ in New York on Tuesday (06.08.24) wearing a glitzy gown previously seen on Spears back in 2002 – and Blake felt honoured to be able to wear the special frock.
She told PEOPLE: “It is Britney’s actual dress. It should be in the Smithsonian or the Met, but it’s on me … I feel so lucky.”
Blake went on to add a sweet message in honour of Spears on her Instagram page, writing: “Today’s mood.
Blake recently revealed she’s been enjoying the “method dressing” technique to help bring her movie characters to life. She has been wearing a lot of florals while promoting ‘It Ends With Us’ because she plays a florist named Lily Bloom in the film – and she revealed the idea originally came about when she embraced the style of her character in 2018 thriller ‘A Simple Favor’ to help give the movie a marketing push.
She explained to PEOPLE: “I’m so excited method dressing is such a thing now because years ago when I did ‘A Simple Favor’, people were like, ‘Why are you dressing like your character? Why are you in suits?’
“And I was like, because we have no marketing money to promote this movie. It’s a small movie and the only thing people really pay attention to at these junket interviews is the photos of fashion so if I just wear men’s suits, people are going to go, ‘Why is she just wearing suits?’
“And then they’re going to go, ‘Oh, because she’s in a movie and she’s wearing men’ suits.’ It’s a marketing hack to try to get people to pay attention to our movie. And it worked.”

AJ Odudu wears wigs to ‘protect’ her own hair

OHMYGOSSIP — AJ Odudu “wears a lot of wigs” to protect her natural hair.
The 36-year-old presenter tends to keep her hair cornrows and favours fake hairpieces in order to preserve her natural tresses but also likes to wear a headscarf if she has had a treatment done.
She told Cosmopolitan: “Because of my work in television, I wear a lot of wigs as a protective style. As a result, my hair is often braided into cornrows, and I tend to keep it like that whilst working out. If my hair has been pressed, I simply wrap on a headscarf and that usually keeps the edges from curling whilst working out.”
The ‘Big Brother’ host also explain that when it comes to her overall haircare routine, she prefers to keep things “simple” even though in her younger years, she thought that looking after her afro style was a “chore” but has recently come to realise the opposite.
She said: “My wash day routine is very simple. I normally start by taking out my braids and doing two deep washes. I am currently using Olaplex no.4 shampoo and their matching conditioner. After that, I will usually finish off by blow-drying my hair out. When I was younger I felt like my afro hair was such a chore but now that I know myself and my hair I realise it’s not! The time taken to look after my locks is time well spent.
“There are so many amazing beauty products that I can’t get enough of. For hair, Olaplex is the one, but I do love using KeraCare and Dizziak too. Plantmade also has an amazing hair oil called inches and it’s amazing on my scalp if it’s a little dry.”

Pamela Anderson reflects on her makeup-free look: ‘I wanted to challenge the idea of beauty…’

OHMYGOSSIP — Pamela Anderson wanted to “challenge” beauty standards when she went to Paris Fashion Week makeup-free.
The 57-year-old supermodel opted for a completely natural look when she went to the global event in the French capital last towards the end of last year and explained that she was never “striving for perfection” but just started to wonder why so many put a “mask” on when they face the world.
She told Better Homes and Gardens Magazine: “I don’t think I was ever striving for perfection. But somewhere along the way, I started thinking that I want to challenge the idea of beauty and this mask we put on. As soon as I took the mask off, the whole world opened up. It just happened to be this silly thing of being at Paris Fashion Week and me saying, ‘I’m not going to sit in a makeup chair for three hours. I’m going to the Louvre.’ Then I thought, ‘Who am I competing with?”
The former ‘Baywatch’ star now lives a quiet life on Vancouver Island and explained that was the person she was trying to channel when she turned up at the glamorous event.
She said: “I was appreciating it as this girl who lives on Vancouver Island that got plopped into these glamorous clothes. And I felt like this little freckle-faced kid with a big, beautiful Vivienne Westwood hat on. It was such a refreshing way to see everything, and I didn’t think anyone would even notice. And then it became this whole thing. I have people stop me on the street now and say, ‘You know, I never liked you before, but I do now’. And then I think, Hmm, I know there’s a compliment in there somewhere.”
