OHMYGOSSIP — Al Pacino was jabbed with a “fat needle” to numb his pain when he injured himself on the set of ‘The Godfather’.
The Hollywood veteran, 84, was nominated for a best supporting actor Oscar for his portrayal of soldier-turned mafia don Michael in director Francis Ford Coppola’s 1972’s operatic Cosa Nostra epic, and he has told in his new memoir ‘Sonny Boy’ he nearly lost the role after he twisted his ankle so badly he thought he’d broken it.
He was hit with the injury while filming the famous scene where he flees Louis’ restaurant by jumping into a moving getaway car after Michael guns down a rival mobster and corrupt cop Capt McCluskey – and has now revealed how he was shot with a painkiller to keep him on the job.
Al said on the ‘Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend’ podcast: “My ankle was hurt, somehow it slipped.
“(When it happened) people just swallowed, got around me and they said, ‘He’s hurt,’ and then they put one of these big fat needles in my ankle so I could finish the day, and they kept me.”
Al also tells in his new autobiography about how the studio behind the movie never wanted him for the part: “Paramount didn’t want me to play Michael Corleone They wanted Jack Nicholson They wanted Robert Redford They wanted Warren Beatty or Ryan O’Neal.
“In the book, (Mario) Puzo had Michael calling himself ‘the sissy of the Corleone family’.
“He was supposed to be small, dark-haired, handsome in a delicate way, no visible threat to anybody.
“That didn’t sound like the guys that the studio wanted. But that didn’t mean it had to be me.”
Al added he ended up getting the role after a drunken flight to screentest for the role that would make his career.
He said: “(I was told) I would have to screentest for the role, which I had never done before, and that I would have to fly out to the west coast to do it, which I just didn’t want to do.
“I did not care that it was ‘The Godfather’ – I was a bit afraid of flying and I didn’t want to go to California.
“But my manager, Marty Bregman , said to me, ‘You’re getting on that f****** plane’
“He brought me a pint of whiskey so I could drink it on the flight, and I got there.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Olivia Munn has shared a video of her newborn daughter experiencing the “slowest fall ever”.
The actress, 44, had her baby with her comedian husband, 42, in September after they had their son Malcolm Hiệp Mulaney in November 2021.
She uploaded a clip of three-week-old Méi on her Instagram that showed her sitting upright on a couch in a white knit onesie.
As the video went on, Méi began falling over, tilting to the side as she approached the couch cushion – with Olivia writing over the clip: “The slowest fall ever recorded”.
John added in the comments section of the post: “My girl.”
Olivia and John made the announcement they were parents again on Instagram on Sunday 22 September, months after they married in July in an intimate ceremony at a friend’s home in New York.
Olivia captioned a snap of her sitting on John’s knee while cradling her newborn: “Méi June Mulaney came into the world September 14, 2024, the year of the dragon (dragon emoji.)
“I had so many profound emotions about not being able to carry my daughter. When I first met our gestational surrogate we spoke mother to mother.
“She showed me so much grace and understanding, I knew I had found a real-life angel.
“Words cannot express my gratitude that she kept our baby safe for nine months and made our dreams come true.
“I am so proud of my little plum, my little dragon for making the journey to be with us. My heart has exploded.”
Olivia signed off her post by saying Méi is “pronounced May” and “means plum in Chinese”.
John also announced he was a father again on his Instagram, saying in his post about the news: “Méi June Mulaney came into the world September 14, 2024, the year of the dragon (dragon emoji.)
“We stole so much stuff from the hospital. I love my little girl so much.”
John also highlighted the correct pronunciation and meaning of his daughter’s name.
Olivia told in April how she had suffered a “terrifying” breast cancer diagnosis a year earlier, which resulted in four surgeries, a double mastectomy and medically induced menopause.
She also had an egg retrieval procedure in June 2023 followed by breast reconstruction in September that year.

OHMYGOSSIP — Jamie Foxx is filled with “pure joy” after returning to the stage following his 2023 medical emergency.
The ‘Django Unchained’ actor, 56, was hospitalised in April last year due to an unspecified health condition, and after he and his family spent months staying silent about the details of the illness, a video emerged in July of the star telling fans he had been hit with a “bad headache” on 11 April and “asked my boy for an Advil” – leading to him being “gone for 20 days”.
Jamie has now updated fans again during one of his solo shows he started in Atlanta, Georgia, this month.
He uploaded an Instagram post on Monday (14.10.24) showing a gallery of photos from his performance – one of which showed him appearing to wipe away tears.
Jamie also said on the social media platform his “soul is filled with nothing but pure joy”.
He added: “I had an opportunity to tell my side of the story and there was no better place than Atlanta Georgia.
“I have to thank you Atlanta you showed up and you showed out, I haven’t been on stage in 18 years but I needed the stage and I needed an audience that was made up of nothing but pure love and that’s what you were.”
Jamie added to fans in the video that emerged in July about his illness: “I don’t remember anything… my sister and my daughter took me to the first doctor. “They gave me a cortisone shot. The next doctor said, ‘There’s something going on up there.’”
Jamie said in March he was going to address the incident on stage, saying at an African American Film Critics Association awards luncheon: “Everybody wants to know what happened, and I’m going to tell you what happened, but I gotta do it in my way.
“I’m gonna do it in a funny way.”
Jamie later announced a one-man show and teased that he would share his “journey through a serious health scare, filled with humour, heart, and inspiration”.
But in his Monday Instagram post he cryptically described his show not as stand-up comedy but “an artistic explanation” of something that “went terribly wrong”.

OHMYGOSSIP — Tia Mowry has “repurposed” her wedding ring into “jewellery pieces” for her children.
The ‘Sister Sister’ star – who finalised her divorce from ex Cory Hardrict last year after announcing their separation in 2022 following 14 years of marriage – wanted to create something special for her kids Cree, 13, and six-year-old Cairo.
In a new episode of ‘Tia Mowry: My Next Act’, she fought back tears and said: “I haven’t worn it for almost two years now, and it just doesn’t feel right to sell it.
“But what I am wanting to do is change my wedding band into something for my kids. Pass it down, you know, to my kids, because they have been my biggest gift.”
She decided to use the diamond to make a necklace for Cree and a bracelet for Cairo.
She added: “I just think it’s so beautiful to transform something that was given out of love and to give it to your children.
“It just makes me feel like my marriage wasn’t a waste. I did the right thing.”
She hadn’t seen or worn the ring since she and Cory seperated, and while she’s “sad” the item doesn’t represent marriage anymore, she had other ideas.
She explained: “It’s been two years and what I want to do is to take my wedding ring and turn it into some nice pieces, jewellery pieces, for my two kids.”
However, she couldn’t help but think of her former flame when she saw the ring being transformed at the jewellery shop.
She added: “It’s hard for me to not think about Cory when I am deciding to repurpose my wedding band because he is the one who gave me my wedding ring.
“I was so surprised. So it’s very hard for me not to think about what he would think.
“But I am learning that, at the end of the day, I need to make this decision for me. And I think because it’s going to the kids, he’ll be okay.”
In another episode of her show, Tia admitted getting back into the dating world has been “intimidating” because Cory was her “first everything”.
She recalled: “I wasn’t even allowed to date until I was 18 years old. I met Cory when I turned 20 and I lost my virginity at 25. There, I said it! And then we got married! Boom!”

OHMYGOSSIP — Olivia Rodrigo’s fans were left terrified when she fell through a hole at her latest concert.
The 21-year-old pop megastar was performing in front of around 14,000 supporters at Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena on Monday night (14.10.24), on her Guts World Tour, when she suddenly disappeared.
Olivia was running across the stage when she fell through a hole, which resulted in horrified gasps from the worried crowd.
Fortunately, she popped back up again and said: “Oh my God, that was fun! I’m OK.”
The ‘good 4 u’ hitmaker quickly composed herself, before adding: “Wow. Sometimes, there’s just a hole in the stage.
“That’s alright! Alright, where was I?”
Later that evening, Olivia took to TikTok to share a clip of her falling through the stage.
She took advantage of the platform’s “subtle foreshadowing” trend, in which users share footage of someone falling in some way but edit the clip to put the end of the video into the middle of the footage.
Following Olivia’s tumble, some fans believe the singer-songwriter could use the situation to her advantage by taking inspiration from it for her next song, or even her next album.
One posted: “Not me thinking “subtle foreshadowing” could be a next song or a next album (sic)”
Another TikTok user commented: “Next song? Possibly. Next album? No. It has to be 4 letters so probably…Fall (sic)”
Olivia’s stage mishap occurred on her fourth and final Melbourne gig, before she heads to Sydney for a quartet of shows at the city’s Qudos Bank Arena across this week and next week.

OHMYGOSSIP — Shawn Mendes has finally stopped feeling like he’s “stepping into a role”.
The 26-year-old musician has reflected on how therapy and working on his new stripped-back album ‘Shawn’ has helped him reconnect with himself.
Speaking to John Mayer for Interview magazine: “I think within finding yourself, there’s humour. There’s not taking myself so seriously.
“I don’t feel like I’m waking up every day and stepping into the role of Shawn. I feel like I’m just waking up as him.”
He’s surprised his upcoming record has given him so much before he’s even unveiled it to the world.
He added: “Dude, I never thought that the most stripped-back art I’ve made would return the most to me.
“It’s already given me more than any of my albums by so much, and I haven’t even shown anyone… My mom doesn’t say these things, but when I played her ‘Isn’t That Enough’, she was like, ‘Oh, you found yourself.’ ”
John asked if he figures “another parcel of yourself out”, will he “keep that forever”, but Shawn was philosophical about the idea.
He pondered: “I’m always here to let parts die, but subconsciously I hold onto some parts.”
He elaborated: “Because of therapy and the experience of being burned and frozen, I’m not as extreme anymore.”
The ‘Stitches’ hitmaker was asked if he meant “relationship or industry”, but insisted it’s not as “black-or-white” as that.
He said: “Both. When I say burned, I mean one end of the spectrum, and frozen the other. I am not doing this black-or-white, binary thing as much anymore, and that allows me to keep flowing.
“I would get onto a concept about life and how to live, and I’d hold that so tight for six months.
“At some point, it would all come crumbling down because I’d realise it was just one part of the picture, and then I’d basically redo that in a different way.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Lupita Nyong’o broke down in tears as she paid tribute to her late ‘Black Panther’ co-star Chadwick Boseman.
The 41-year-old actress insisted she doesn’t “run away from the tears or the grief” when thinking about the late actor, who passed away from colon cancer in 2020 aged 43, but she hasn’t been able to watch the 2018 Marvel movie since he passed away.
Speaking at a BFI London Film Festival Q+A about her career, she said: “I haven’t seen the film since Chadwick died.”
Lupita composed herself, and continued: “The grief is just the love.
“There’s no place to put it. I don’t run away from the tears or the grief. You just live with it.
“I don’t know whether I’ll ever be done shedding my tears from losing my friend, but I’m also like, wow, we get to see him [in the film].
“We get to see him alive. And that’s so wonderful.”
Lupita also told how she was in talks to appear in a different Marvel movie when the opportunity to star in ‘Black Panther’ first came about.
Speaking about her initial conversation with director Ryan Coogler, she said: “So I got on the phone with Ryan, and he walked me through this story about this fictional African country, and his idea of making it even more politically astute and relevant than the comic book that it was based off of.
“And when he finished, I said, ‘Wait – this is a Marvel movie? This is Disney?’
“And he’s like, ‘Yeah.’ And I’m like, ‘Is this your wish or is this what they [agreed to]?’
“And he was like, ‘No, no, no, they’re on board!
“So I knew from the beginning, we’re onto something incredible.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Suzanne Somers and Alan Hamel vowed to “never” split up.
The ‘Three’s Company’ had been married to actor Alan, 88, for 36 years when she passed away on October 15 2023 following a battle with breast cancer and on the first anniversary of her passing, Alan has recalled how their “mad fights” would never put a stop to their love.
He told PageSix: “For the first few years of our love affair, we fought like mad dogs. But we always returned to our passionate love for one another. After one of our fights, Suzanne said to me, ‘No matter how bad it gets, let’s never break up.’ And we never did.”
The TV host recalled that he and Suzanne – who passed away just one day before her 77th birthday – would always hold hands when they were asleep and he would spend the early morning just admiring her before she woke up.
He said: “We always went to sleep every night holding hands, and in the morning I would always awaken a few minutes before Suzanne and I would just lie there, staring at her beautiful face.”
Alan previously revealed that he had been getting signs from Suzanne and eventually accepted that she was “safe” in the afterlife.
He told Fox News Digital: “One day I’m in the kitchen with my family, and all of a sudden, Suzanne’s favorite song comes on the audio system; the audio system wasn’t even turned on. It’s a Latin song, and it’s written and performed by someone no one’s ever heard of. It’s a song we used to dance to in the kitchen. It just came on all by itself. And then, when it was over, that was it. The audio system stayed off.
“Later that day, the fireplace started by itself.
“It stayed on for an hour and then it turned off.
“Then one day, a hummingbird flew into our house. It goes to our little breakfast nook where there’s a photograph of Suzanne and me where we’re looking at each other. The hummingbird hovers in between our two faces. Then it flies up and sits on top of the photo.
“A few weeks later, I opened all the doors and windows and I saw the same hummingbird – they all have very distinctive colorings… I walked over and extended my hands. The hummingbird jumps into my hands, and she tucks in her little feet. All I felt was her belly. She felt safe.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs has insisted “the truth will prevail” in a statement by his lawyers.
The 54-year-old rapper – who was arrested last month over charges of sex trafficking, racketeering, and transportation to engage in prostitution – is now facing a further six lawsuits which have been filed by attorney Tony Buzbee.
As reported by TMZ, four of these include male accusers, and one alleged victim has claimed he was 16 years old when he was invited to one of Combs’ parties in 1998.
In a statement, to Metro.co.uk, the musician’s lawyers said: “The press conference and 1-800 number that preceded today’s barrage of filings were clear attempts to garner publicity.
“Mr Combs and his legal team have full confidence in the facts, their legal defenses, and the integrity of the judicial process.
“In court, the truth will prevail: that Mr Combs has never sexually assaulted anyone — adult or minor, man or woman.”
Court documents obtained by Page Six show one unidentified female claimed Combs raped her in 2004 after the then-19-year-old was allegedly invited to a photo shoot, and then to his Marriott hotel room in Manhattan.
At an “exclusive party” the college student was allegedly taken to a “separate room” away from the main party where she said the door was locked and she claims Combs assaulted her and her friend.
Diddy then “threatened to have them both killed” if they did not agree to his demands.
Another filing from an unnamed male says Combs committed aggravated sexual assault at a Macy’s department store stockroom in 2008.
The man claimed he was confronted by the rapper and two of his bodyguards who threatened to “kill” the victim as the songwriter allegedly performed a sex act on him.
Another unidentified man accused Combs of drugging and sodomizing him in a van outside of a White Party in 2006.
He claimed the Grammy winner “dismissed” his pleas for help by telling him he would “be alright.”
The latest civil lawsuits against Combs were all filed by lawyer Tony Buzbee, who announced earlier this month he is representing more than 120 alleged Combs victims.
Combs has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing since he was arrested on a federal indictment in September.
He is being held without bail after pleading not guilty.

The JLS singer has revealed his partner – who he married two years ago – is pregnant after a journey he says “tested them in ways he can’t describe”.
Alongside a black and white pregnancy photoshoot of the couple, he wrote: “Overwhelmed with emotion, love, and awe, words can’t express how I feel about my Queen, my soulmate, my hero, and stunning Mama Kazz.

OHMYGOSSIP — Saoirse Ronan had to “convince” her husband Jack Lowden to work together.
The 30-year-old actress first started dating her husband, 34, in 2018 after they met on the set of ‘Mary Queen of Scots’, and while he is a producer on her new movie ‘The Outrun’, she would like to collaborate more on the screen and stage.
Revealing that Jack is coming round to the idea, she told USA Today: “Jack didn’t want to for a long time, but I’ve now convinced him that’s a great idea.
“I’d really like to do something together on stage.”
She described Jack as her “voice of reason”, while they have a similar outlook on how a movie set should feel for the actors.
She added: “Jack is a lot calmer than I am. He’s my voice of reason.
“But as a duo, we’ve both been on film sets our whole lives, so we have an appreciation of what we’re asking actors to do. We always want them to feel safe.”
Despite his earlier reservations, Jack recently admitted he hopes they can continue making films together in the future.
He told The Times newspaper it’s “not ideal” when both partners are away for long periods filming, adding: “Making work together solves that problem, so that’s another reason why we want to do more together. ‘The Outrun’ gave us such a taste for it. And it can be a lonely thing, this profession.”
During the interview, Jack was wearing a ring on his wedding finger and when asked about the couple’s honeymoon, he admitted the holiday hasn’t happened yet, saying: “One day, one day.”
They are believed to have married in a low-key ceremony in Edinburgh in July in front of just a “handful” of the couple’s closest friends and family who were all “sworn to secrecy”.
The couple had kept their relationship out of the spotlight over the years with both Saoirse and Jack refusing to talk about their romance publicly.
However, she recently admitted ‘The Outrun’ came about after Jack persuaded her to read the book during the COVID-19 lockdowns.

He told Deadline: “We’re very different people. I was born in 1992, he was born in 1937. The things that affect me don’t necessarily affect him.
“Obviously, I love him. He’s my inspiration. I ate dinner with him every night.
“I studied it, that’s how I learned to be a human being. So, of course we’re gonna be kind of similar.”
However, the ‘Promising Young Woman’ star doesn’t necessarily go to the ‘One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest’ icon for film advice.
He explained: “As far as talking about it, if he ever did tell me something, I probably wouldn’t investigate it for myself because I’d be like, ‘You’re the best, of course, that’s right,’ and it might not work for me.
“I love him. He’s also my hero. I’m the luckiest kid in the world.”
After first experiencing acting in the mid-2000s with a small role in ‘The Benchwarmers’, Ray has built up a steady reputation over the last few years.
After appearing in ‘The Outsider’ and ‘Where Are You’, he made an impression in 2021 as Ray in ‘Licorice Pizza’, and the following year he appeared in a supporting role opposite Zoe Deutch in ‘Something From Tiffany’s’.
Last year, he starred with Camila Morrone, Willem Dafoe and Patricia Arquette in the latter’s drama ‘Gonzo Girl’,.

OHMYGOSSIP — Andrew Garfield has split from his girlfriend Kate Tomas.
‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ star has been linked to Kate – who describes herself as a “philosopher, and spiritual mentor” – since March when they were pictured on a double date with singer Phoebe Bridgers and comedian Bo Burnham in Malibu, California but now Kate has confirmed the romance ended “months ago”.
Kate made the revelation on Instagram after a follower asked if she was still dating the actor. The fan wrote: “[Are you] still dating Andrew Garfield? … Tell him I’m a fan of him, please.”
She then replied: “We broke up months ago but I’m sure he will be happy to know that he is loved.”
Kate previously opened up about the relationship and insisted she feels as if her own achievements were being overlooked because of who she was dating.
She told The Sunday Times newspaper: “It’s frustrating that no matter how accomplished or impactful a woman is, it’s always going to be more interesting if they are in a relationship with a man. I don’t want to sit under anybody’s shadow.”
Kate – who has previously been married four times – went on to reveal she hated the “misogynistic nature of that interest [in my relationship] – criticism of how a woman looks, of what [she] does for work.”
She also claimed paparazzi taking picture of the couple only use snaps of her looking bad. She added: “They will take maybe 150 pictures, then they choose the four where you look worst”.
According to the publication, Kate also shared her experience of being in the public eye in an episode of her own podcast, admitting she wasn’t prepared for all the hate from online trolls.
She explained: “Nothing could have prepared me for having literally thousands of women telling me I’m ugly, I’m unattractive, I’m less than in every conceivable way.”
Kate added that she was using techniques to “reclaim the power that has been taken” but said: “The most powerful form of psychic protection is knowing who you are and being ok with that.”
Andrew has previously been linked to stars including model Alyssa Miller from 2021 to 2022 and his ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ co-star Emma Stone.
