Bruce Springsteen distanced kids from fame

OHMYGOSSIP — Bruce Springsteen tried to keep his home life separate from his music career when his children were growing up.
The 75-year-old singer – who has Evan, 34, Jessica, 32, and Samuel, 30, with wife Patti Scialfa – is proud that his kids have been able to develop their own lives away from the “strangeness” of his job in the spotlight and admitted he and his spouse deliberately exposed them to as little of life in the public eye as they could.
He told The Times magazine: “When they were little, if they heard me on the radio they would go, ‘Bruce Springsteen!’ It was their way of separating their dad from this abstract character who also seemed to be a part of their lives.
“A lot of times, we just didn’t expose them to it. They came to concerts a few times before going back to their rooms to play video games, and didn’t know much about it beyond what they may have read.
“When they were older they wanted to bring their friends to the show, but apart from that they chose their own lives, developed their own work, found their own partners and families, all at a nice distance from the strangeness of my job.”
Bruce spent the 1980s living on-and-off in Los Angeles but was never “comfortable” there or in New York, so is happy he and Patti opted to raise their children in his native New Jersey and gave them a “normal” upbringing.
He said: “It’s certainly not Los Angeles. I feel safe here. This is where my people are, where the folks I wrote about are. I was never a worldly young man.
“I was not comfortable in Los Angeles for the time I lived there. I was not comfortable in New York. I don’t think you can find photographs of me falling out of nightclubs in either of them.
“And when Patti and I had children, we were not comfortable about them growing up in Los Angeles. I grew up on a block that had six houses with my relatives in them, so we came back here.
“The kids had aunts and uncles nearby and it was a good payoff for not being where the industry is: normal life.
“You know, it’s funny. You grow up in a place that you weren’t so sure about for a variety of reasons. Then, whether for nostalgia or the feeling that you’re on solid ground, you find yourself returning. Now I love my home town.”

Shazad Latif ‘honoured’ with Nautilus role

OHMYGOSSIP — Shazad Latif feels “privileged and honoured” to lead the cast of ‘Nautilus’.
The 36-year-old actor portrays Captain Nemo in the drama series – a reimagining of Jules Verne’s classic tale ‘Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Seas’ that tells the origin story of the mysterious sailor and he’s thrilled to be involved in such an “epic” story.
Asked about his role during a special screening of the first episode of the Prime Video series in London on Saturday (19.10.24), he said: “We’ve always seen him in the other movies as an elusive, mysterious guy , we don’t really know his back story so to get the chance to explore that over 10 episodes and do all the crazy things, it’s pretty epic.
“I’m very privileged and honoured to play him.”
When it comes to the rest of the series, Shazad teased viewers can expect “lots of adventures”.
He said: “More action, more comedy, more great set pieces. Just seeing it on the big screen was very exciting, lots and lots of adventures, swashbuckling stuff.”
But the actor warned there is also a “very serious undertone” running through the story.
Asked if he can relate to Captain Nemo, he said: “I suppose he’s got some kind of trauma like we all do, that’s what I love, it’s a full on revenge story and at the heart of it is a very serious undertone, exploring the East India Company and all the bad stuff they did, so I can relate to that in some way.”
But now filming has finished, Shazad joked he’s ready to see the sun and take a holiday.
Asked if he could use nautilus, the titular submersible ship, to go anywhere, where would he go, he said: “I think right now just maybe Spain, a beach or something, get some good weather in.”
‘Nautilus’ premieres on Prime Video on 25 October.

Carrie Fisher died too damn young, says Billie Lourd

OHMYGOSSIP — Billie Lourd believes Carrie Fisher died “too damn young”.
The ‘Star Wars’ actress died in December 2016, aged 60, after suffering a cardiac arrest, and Billie Lourd has now taken to social media to pay tribute to her mom, who would have celebrated her 68th birthday on Monday (21.10.24).
Billie, 32, wrote on Instagram: “My mom would’ve been 68 today. Dead person birthdays are weird to say the least. On my mom’s birthday every year, I try to celebrate her as much as possible, but today I really wanted to celebrate her with her. Some years my grief makes me feel the warmth of her love, some years it makes me angry, some years I feel numb but today when I woke up I just felt sad. I didn’t want to celebrate, I just wanted my mom. My sadness bodysnatched me so I googled “average death age woman” (ooohhh what a fun google billie!!! I promise the rest of my google search history has a sliightly more fun vibe?!) and google said it was 80.2. My mom died when she was 60. 60 is too damn young to die. (sic)”
Carrie struggled with drug addiction during her life and Billie admitted that she couldn’t “escape” her troubles.
The actress explained: “I then googled drug overdose deaths (another fun morning google!!!) and it is over 100 thousand people per year. I did everything in my power to help my mom get sober but sadly my mom couldn’t ever escape her addiction. But while she was alive she always shared the ups and downs of that struggle with others in hopes it would help them escape their own addiction. As an addict, being open about the struggle is the only way through. And same goes for those of us affected by that struggle. Sending my love to anyone out there who has lost someone to drug addiction. You are not alone. [heart emoji] (sic)”

A source told PEOPLE: “She’s not even dating anyone now. It’s all about work and the kids.”
Kim – who was married to Kanye between 2014 and 2022 – is firmly focused on her family life and her various business interests, which includes her Skims clothing brand.
As a result, Kim doesn’t consider finding love to be an immediate priority.
The insider explained: “Although she has help, it’s still a lot of work for her to balance and coordinate everything.”
Kim actually turned 44 on Monday (21.10.24), but the brunette beauty doesn’t have any worries about ageing.
The source added: “She had an early birthday celebration with her family. She seems fine about turning 44.”
Kim previously claimed that she doesn’t care what people think of her.
The reality star – who previously dated comedian Pete Davidson – hit back at her critics, observing that she’s become a huge success despite not having a discernible talent.
Discussing her talents and the keys to her success, Kim told Interview Magazine: “I’m like, ‘Well, we have a TV show.’ But just because we’re not singing and dancing and acting on the show doesn’t mean that the fame didn’t come from that.
“But then, I would write that as a hashtag, not bad for a girl with no talent, because people used to be like, ‘Well, what do you do? What’s your talent?’ And I’m like, ‘Didn’t know I needed one.'”

Raye is ‘obsessed’ with video games

OHMYGOSSIP — Raye is a “huge gamer”.
The award-winning music star – who has enjoyed a meteoric rise in recent years – has confessed to being “obsessed” with video games.
The ‘Escapism’ hitmaker told BBC Newsbeat: “I find games to just be like a very beautiful escape from your everyday life.
“I’m really one of those people who loves to hyper-focus on something, and when I’m playing a game, nothing else matters in that moment.”
Raye always has a jam-packed work schedule – but gaming provides her with an escape from her everyday concerns.
The 26-year-old star shared: “Almost every day, when I need to just turn off, I’m just playing a game, finding someone on tour who wants to play games with me.
“We have a console on the bus and we’ll gather around.”
Raye cited ‘Overcooked’ – the cooking simulation game – as her favourite current title.
She said: “It’s so good. And you’re basically playing as a chef in the kitchen and everyone’s like screaming at each other like ‘cut the carrots!’
“I just think games offer a moment of togetherness and pause and joy.”
Raye also acknowledged that she has a competitive streak when she’s playing video games.
The singer said: “I consider myself to be such a lovely person, except when it comes to games.
“The nasty side really comes out, you know, I really care about winning.”
What’s more, Raye confessed to being a big fan of video-game soundtracks.
She explained: “I just love the ‘Super Mario’ soundtrack.
“I just think it’s absolutely genius. And also I love that it’s just kind of evolved over years and years and years.
“You have the same notes and chord patterns and sounds, but they’ve just kind of been refined.
“So yeah, music pairs really brilliantly with games, and I think ‘Mario’ for me specifically has that nostalgia.”

Zoe Saldana recalls ‘feeling like an imposter’

OHMYGOSSIP — Zoe Saldana “felt like an imposter” early in her career.
The 46-year-old actress suffered from self-doubts before she established herself as a star in Hollywood.
She told Variety: “There was a level of exhaustion that I felt because I was always putting up this front of overconfidence.
“All of a sudden, I felt compelled to reassess myself and question whether or not what I have been creating and putting out there matches up to that confidence. And no, it didn’t.
“Realising that it was all stemming from insecurity – because I always felt like an imposter – was very overwhelming.”
Zoe enjoyed a long run of success with “sci-fi and action films”. However, the actress feels she was “taking things for granted too much” at the time.
Reflecting on her career arc, the ‘Emilia Perez’ star explained: “I’m grateful for the things that I’ve had in my life and the way that my success has happened, but I felt stuck, in the sense that I was taking things for granted too much.
“I entered this cycle of doing these sequels, and for some reason I became cavalier with them.”
Zoe now believes that having dyslexia and anxiety led her to pursue particular film roles.
Despite this, Zoe remains convinced that she’s much more versatile than she’s shown during her career.
The actress – who starred in the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ and ‘Avatar’ film franchises – said: “The challenges that I’ve had, they have to do with my learning abilities.
“I have dyslexia and anxiety, which prevented me from really going after roles – a whole lot of roles – that I know I could have done.”

Ringo Starr hails Taylor Swift as ‘the closest thing to Beatlemania’

OHMYGOSSIP — Ringo Starr believes Taylor Swift’s popularity is the “closest thing” to Beatlemania for this generation.
The 84-year-old drummer – who starred in the Beatles alongside John Lennon, Sir Paul McCartney and George Harrison – can see similarities between the fanaticism that surrounded the legendary band and Taylor’s loyal fans.
Ringo told American Songwriter: “I think Taylor Swift is great anyway. She’s pulling them in, you know.”
Ringo first crossed paths with Taylor at the Grammy Awards when she was 14 years old. The chart-topping star attended the awards show with her mother.
Ringo shared: “When we talk about her, I always have to mention that the first time I met her, she was 14.
“She was at the Grammys with her mother. And then, I saw a photo of her the other day, just yesterday, of her and her mother.”
Meanwhile, Sir Paul McCartney previously heaped praise on Taylor, revealing that his song ‘Who Cares’ was partially inspired by the award-winning pop star.
The 82-year-old singer observed that Taylor, 34, has a very strong connection with her “young fans”, describing the bond as a “sort of a sisterly thing”.
Speaking about ‘Who Cares’ – which addresses the dangers of online bullying – Paul told the BBC: “I was actually thinking about Taylor Swift and her relationship to her young fans and how it’s sort of a sisterly thing.
“And I was imagining talking to one of these young fans, and saying: ‘Have you ever been bullied? Do you get bullied?’
“Then, I say: ‘Who cares about the idiots? Who cares about all this? Who cares about you? Well … I do.'”

Hayley and Derek recently performed together on ‘Dancing With the Stars’, and the 39-year-old star subsequently admitted that he struggled to find the perfect song for their routine.
Derek – who ultimately chose to dance to ‘Beautiful Things’ by Benson Boone – told Us Weekly: “It’s funny because when I was trying to think of a song, I was actually kind of struggling, to be honest with you. Then I heard this rendition.
“It was a very stripped down version.”
Derek was determined to add a little bit of “emotion” to the track.
He explained: “I was like, ‘Wait, I feel like I’m hearing the song for the first time.’ I’ve heard this song so many times – it is almost overplayed. But it’s a great song and then I heard this.
“I was like, ‘Wait, I’m actually hearing the lyrics and the lyrics are kind of telling the story so beautifully.’ So then I added strings and violins and cellos to add a little bit more emotion in there.”

Sam is firmly focused on his acting career at the moment, meaning he doesn’t have any time for dating.
He shared: “I’m really just focused on work.”
Asked if he plans to return to the dating game in 2025, Sam replied: “Absolutely … If you know somebody, let me know.”
Sam is currently working on a film project. However, he’s remaining tight-lipped about the movie for the time being.

Britney split from Sam in 2023.
The pop star subsequently took to social media to admit that she was “a little shocked” about their break-up.
Britney, 42, wrote on Instagram at the time: “As everyone knows, Hesam and I are no longer together … six years is a long time to be with someone so, I’m a little shocked but … I’m not here to explain why because it’s honestly nobody’s business. But, I couldn’t take the pain any more, honestly.”

Travis Kelce reveals inspiration behind moustache ‘tradition’

OHMYGOSSIP — Travis Kelce has developed a “tradition” of growing a moustache at the start of the NFL season.
The 35-year-old sports star has revealed that his distinctive look is partially inspired by Andy Reid, his coach at the Kansas City Chiefs.
Travis – who has been dating pop star Taylor Swift since 2023 – told PEOPLE: “I grow out the stache every training camp – or at least I have the past three or four years since we’ve been making these title runs in honour of coach Andy Reid. He is the walrus!”
Travis also explained that some of his teammates have followed his example.
He said: “It wasn’t just me, a couple of the offensive linemen and a couple of the skill players on the offence all did it the first year.”
Meanwhile, Travis previously admitted that he used to “lose [his] cool a lot of the time” when he under-performed on the football field.
Travis also explained how his on-field mentality has evolved over the years.
He said on the ‘New Heights’ podcast: “I stopped caring about stats about four or five years ago.
“I just went out there and started to play free and play for my guys. Sure enough, I think that’s the better mentality. You think about it more play by play and what your job is on that specific play.”
Travis made a relatively modest start to the NFL season – but he’s now much more philosophical about his own performances.
He said: “For whatever reason, these past two games it hasn’t gone that way for me.
“That’s football, man. I’m not about to sit here and get frustrated about it. I used to get really, really p***** off and almost lose my cool a lot of the time from not having that success knowing I demand that out of myself.
“I just like to play the game to such a high level of accountability that it’s tough for me to deal with me being mediocre or having stats that represent that.”

Taylor Swift celebrates boyfriend Travis Kelce’s latest NFL win by changing song lyrics

OHMYGOSSIP — Taylor Swift celebrated her boyfriend Travis Kelce’s recent NFL win by changing her song lyrics.
The 34-year-old pop megastar performed in Miami on Sunday (20.10.24) when she altered the words to tune ‘Karma’ to reflect Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs’ victory over the San Francisco 49ers, who the Chiefs defeated earlier this year to win Super Bowl 58.
During her tour-closing song ‘Karma’, Taylor usually sings: “Karma is the guy on the screen coming straight home to me.”
But on Sunday night, she changed the lyrics to: “Karma is the guy on the Chiefs coming straight home to me.”
It’s thought to be the first time she has switched the lyrics up without the NFL tight end being in the crowd.
Kelce was unable to make Taylor’s hat-trick of Miami shows over the weekend, but his mother, Donna Kelce, was present at the superstar singer’s ‘Eras Tour’ for the first time on October 18th.
Travis’ brother Jason Kelce, and his wife Kylie and two of their daughters, Wyatt and Elliotte, were also at Taylor’s Miami show on October 18th.
Kansas City Chiefs’ latest win over the 49ers comes after Taylor watched on as they defeated the same opponent to land a Super Bowl in February.
Travis recently acknowledged he’s become an even bigger focus for attention since he began dating pop star Taylor last year, and he expects criticism to “rain down” on him if the Chiefs fail to retain the Super Bowl.
Speaking on his ‘New Heights’ podcast, he said: “I just got to keep winning.
“If we lose a game, it’s going to rain down, baby.”
He added: “We gotta keep winning, staying on top.”

Christina Aguilera damaged cartilage in her knee after years of style choice on stage

OHMYGOSSIP — Christina Aguilera has “f***** up the cartilage” in her knee by wearing high heels on stage.
The 43-year-old actress has revealed the long lasting impact of her style choices while performing, as she insisted singer-songwriter Raye, 26, is making the right choice by going barefoot for her concerns.
During a joint interview, Rolling Stone magazine asked Christina if she had any advice for Raye, and she said: “I think she’s already ahead of the game, to be very honest with you.
“I mean, even the fact that she sings barefoot. I’ve already f***** up my legs and my feet so bad with all this high-heel nonsense. I f***** up the cartilage in my knee.
“I love that about you, though. I never had the balls to just do it. Those are the best when you just feel the floor underneath.”
The ‘Prada’ hitmaker told the ‘Beautiful’ singer that she feels less distracted when she’s not wearing shoes.
She explained: “I feel like when I’m wearing shoes, I’m thinking about wearing shoes. Is that weird?”
Elsewhere during the interview, Raye asked the ‘Genie In A Bottle’ star if she ever had any moments in her career where she “didn’t feel in control”.
Christina said: “When I came into this business, there was a really big pop boom, and it was very specific what a label wanted a pop star to look like, to sound like. I wanted it so bad.
“I felt like my voice was stifled. You’re going to have situations where you have no creative control or you’re in a position where your hands are tied.
“It’s just no place for an artist. When my hands feel too bound and I feel like there’s no breathing room, that’s when I start to suffer.”
The pop megastar has been known around the world since she was in her late teens, but almost three decades into her music career she insisted that fame has “never been the goal” and that she only wants to share “love and creativity” with her work.
Over the summer, she told Paper magazine: “I have a really good sense of humor about myself. At the end of the day, I don’t take myself and fame so seriously. I’m in it for the love and the creativity, and how I can connect and hopefully spread messages.
“But as far as the fame itself, it’s never been the goal. That’s the most frustrating part for me: having to over give myself when I’m such a private person, especially with this age of social media. Everybody wants something of you.”
