Matthew Perry was ‘very lonely’

OHMYGOSSIP — Matthew Perry was “very lonely” prior to his death, according to his mother.
The 54-year-old ‘Friends’ actor passed away in October 2023 when he drowned in his hot tub after taking ketamine, and his mom Suzanne Morrison has revealed her son struggled with loneliness as he battled years of addiction issues and she feels terrible that she couldn’t help him.
During an appearance on the ‘TODAY’ show, Suzanne said: “It must be said, he was very lonely in his soul. I’m a very lucky woman, but there was one glitch, there was one problem that I couldn’t … conquer it [his addiction], I couldn’t help him.
“The one thing I have to learn, [it’s] very hard … is you’ve got to stop blaming yourself because it tears you up.”
Suzanne also said she felt “there was an inevitability” to his death.
She added: “He came up to me and said, ‘I love you so much and I’m so happy to be with you now’. It was almost as though it was a premonition of something.
“I didn’t think about it at the time but I thought, ‘How long has it been since we’ve had a conversation like that? It’s been years’.
“I think there was something … there was an inevitability to what was going to happen next to him, and he felt it very strongly. But he said, ‘I’m not frightened anymore.’ And it worried me.”
The actor – who was best known for playing Chandler Bing in the sitcom ‘Friends’ – was found unresponsive in a hot tub in his Los Angeles-area home and the property has now been sold.
The four-bedroom mid-century home changed hands in an $8.55 million off-market deal.
According to the Los Angeles Times newspaper, the 3,500 sq ft abode was bought by Anita Verma-Lallian, a movie producer and real estate developer, and she intends to use the house – which Matthew had paid $6 million for in 2020 – as a vacation home, her representative said.

OHMYGOSSIP — Riley Keough “acknowledges” she is a nepo-baby.
The 35-year-old actress – who is the daughter of the late Lisa Marie Presley and the granddaughter of late music icon Elvis Presley – admits she is “acutely aware” of the privilege she may have received as a result of her family connections which made it easier for her to start out in showbusiness.
She told ELLE UK magazine: “I’m sure being Elvis’ granddaughter has made it easier for me to get an agent, to have meetings and all this stuff, when I started out.
“I know there’s so much nepo-baby stuff at the moment [and] I certainly acknowledge that aspect of the privilege of coming where I come from.
“I’m not an idiot. I’m aware of privilege in an acute way.”
The ‘Daisy Jones and The Six’ actress also shared the advice her late mother gave her before entering the showbiz world.
Lisa told Riley: “If you’re going to do this, you have to be so good at what you do, or else nobody’s going to take you seriously, you’re not going to get any jobs and it’s going to be embarrassing.”
Riley added: “You don’t want to be an embarrassing celebrity kid. She ingrained that into me and my brother so deeply.”
It comes after Riley previously revealed she aimed to honour her mother by finishing her memoir ‘From Here To The Great Unknown’ which Lisa Marie was working on at the time of her death in January 2023.
In a behind-the-scenes video of her in a recording booth, Riley said: “I aim not only to honour my mother, but to tell a human story in what I know is an extraordinary circumstance.
“I am aware that the recordings my mother left are a gift. So often, all that’s left of a loved one is a saved and re-saved voicemail, a short video on a phone, some favourite photos. I take the privilege of these tapes very seriously.”
The memoir covers how Lisa Marie struggled after Elvis’ death as well the tragic passing of her son Benjamin Keough in 2020 and Riley hopes it presents her as “a three-dimensional human being”.

Peter Gallagher is ‘grateful’ Mischa Barton is ‘still alive’

Mischa was just 16 when she landed the role of Marissa Cooper in hit TV show ‘The O.C.’ and went on to suffer personal problems which included a DUI arrest in 2007 and a hospitalisation on mental health grounds two years later – and her former co-star Peter admits the actress is lucky to have survived after being thrust into the spotlight at such a young age.
He told The Independent newspaper: “I’ve always felt very protective of her. First fame is toxic. First fame can kill you. She was 16 years old when she started working with us, so just the fact that she’s still alive, I’m just so grateful.”
Mischa opened up about her hospitalisation in 2009 revealing she suffered a “breakdown” and compared her experience to Angelina Jolie’s 1999 movie ‘Girl, Interrupted’.
She told PEOPLE: “It was a full-on breakdown. It was terrifying. Straight out of ‘Girl, Interrupted’. Story of my life … I was never suicidal. I was just overworked and depressed. But one slip of the tongue in a heightened moment and you find yourself in that situation …
“I was deeply hurt at first, and then I accepted this was time I needed to be away from my family and all the pressure. I had been through the wringer.”
Mischa went on to admit living a “jet-set lifestyle” in the public eye contributed to her problems and she needed to take time away to recover.
She said: “Nothing could prepare[(my parents] to have their children jump into the overtly sexualised and crazy world of L.A. … It was a train I could not get off of. When you’re young, you can do it, but after a while, it’s going to come crashing down on you … I needed to be on my own and get healthy.
“I just try to be balanced … I needed to take this time for me … I’ve learned a lot. I’m stronger now, and I’m excited for what’s ahead.”

Dolly Parton covers her scars with butterfly tattoos

OHMYGOSSIP — Dolly Parton is hiding a secret collection of tattoos.
The 78-year-old country legend has revealed she uses body art to cover up her scars and she has added inkings of butterflies and flowers over the years but keeps them all hidden up under her clothes.
She told Hello! magazine: “When I first started getting a few little things done, I had a few little tattoos to cover up some scarring.
“If I have to get a scar for any reason, I never can get rid of that purple look. So I thought: ‘Well, I’m going to decorate these with some flowers or little butterflies’.”
Dolly added that the butterfly has a special significance to her as they remind her of her childhood in rural Tennessee.
She explained: “I used to chase butterflies off into the woods and get lost. Mom would get mad and have to come and find me.
“One of my big songs, a number one hit I wrote 50 years ago, was ‘Love is Like a Butterfly’. Through the years it’s been my emblem, and even at my theme park Dollywood, the ‘w’ part is a butterfly.”
Dolly has released a cookbook called ‘Good Lookin’ Cookin’ which wrote with her sister Rachel and the singer recently admitted she learned to cook out of necessity as she grew up in poverty as the ninth of 11 children.
She told People: “We’d have to climb up on the chairs to peel potatoes, turnips or whatever. We were really helping out when Mama was not well, or in bed with a kid or having a new baby or whatever … so my first [lesson] came out of just really being a necessity of us helping mom as the older girls.
“My mama probably just wanted me out of the way, so she pulled up a chair and had all the things and she had it in a bowl.
“And she said, ‘Here, you get to make cornbread tonight.’ So I was working hard at making that cornbread.”

Perrie Edwards’ ‘heart hurts’ after Liam Payne’s death

OHMYGOSSIP — Perrie Edwards says her “heart hurts” for Liam Payne’s ex-girlfriend Cheryl and their son Bear.
The Little Mix star rose to fame on ‘The X Factor’ just like Liam did with his group One Direction and she was previously engaged to his bandmate Zayn Malik – and Perrie has now shared her agony over the singer’s tragic death in Argentina earlier this month revealing she feels for his former partner Cheryl and their seven-year-old son.
Speaking on Fearne Cotton’s ‘Happy Place’ podcast, Perrie shared: “I think it just feels weird. It’s just so sad and heartbreaking and my heart hurts for his family and friends, Cheryl, his little boy.
“It’s devastating I can’t imagine how they must be feeling now. I didn’t think it was real when I read it, it’s in the air and everyone can feel it.”
She went on to add: “Me and the Little Mix girls were messaging [after news of Liam’s death broke] and Leigh-Anne [Pinnock] just said it feels very close to home.
“Our careers were very aligned, we had a close relationship with them. It’s honestly so sad, it made my body feel so weird when I saw the headline.”
Liam died aged 31 after plunging from a balcony at a hotel in Buenos Aires on October 16. He became a dad to Bear back in 2017 during his two-year romance with Girls Aloud star and former ‘The X Factor’ judge Cheryl.
Later in the podcast, Perrie went on to discuss the pitfalls of fame and insisted more needs to be done to look after young people and tackle online trolling.
She said: “here are no consequences for people’s comments online. People are not looked after enough in this industry, people are put on a pedestal.
“They are treated like a god and then everyone jumps on this bandwagon of like ‘let’s tear them down’. But people are human. Can we make rules with social media?
“I can’t bear it – I try to not look as I can go into a hole of just looking at negative comments. Success is good but fame is different – there is a dark side to it.
“It’s intense. I bring my therapist to work with me sometimes as I can’t cope with the panic attacks sometimes.”

Marilyn Monroe’s ghost ‘haunting Hollywood hotel’

OHMYGOSSIP — The ghost of late screen legend Marilyn Monroe is said to be haunting a Hollywood hotel.
The ‘Some Like It Hot’ star – who died in 1962 aged 36 – is believed to have spent two years living at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel in Los Angeles at the start of her career and now it’s been claimed her spirit has returned to the building and has been sighted there many times over the years.
Singer Brocarde – who claims to have spotted Marilyn’s ghost by the pool – said: “So many psychic mediums have told me that the Roosevelt Hotel is charged with paranormal energy.
“I’ve heard multiple reports of psychics seeing the apparition of Marilyn over the years, but I thought seeing her was unlikely, so I was quite bemused when I did. Nothing surprises me any more.”
She went on to add: “I think realistically when you’re somewhere with as much Hollywood history as the Roosevelt you are more likely to encounter the spirit of a celebrity than a human. This was home to many huge stars, it’s reported that Marilyn lived in the hotel for two years and the hotel hosted the first ever Oscars ceremony, so many have seen her hanging around the Blossom Ballroom …
“It’s a great place to go if you want to spot the ghosts of Hollywood royalty.”
Brocarde claims to have encountered several celebrity ghosts over the years – including the spirit of Britain’s wartime Prime Minister Sir Winston Churchill onboard the Queen Mary ship, which has been turned into tourist attraction in Long Beach, California.
She said she encountered the ghost as she headed towards the bathroom, explaining: “I was over come by an intense sensation of fear, I opened the bathroom door, and it was filled with a thick mist, I felt like someone was following me, as when the door slammed behind me, it slammed twice, like someone followed me in.
“Then I saw the full apparition of a heavy set man, with a cigar, he looked exactly like Winston Churchill. I darted out the bathroom door like a flash of lighting, it was the quickest bathroom visit I’ve ever made …
“It later occurred to me that the fog, or heavy mist, could’ve been cigar smoke. Later on that evening a member of staff told me that Winston Churchill’s ghost had been spotted on board a few times, I was told that one member of staff got so spooked that they quit on their first day and never returned to the ship.”
She also claims to have seen the ghost of late Motorhead rocker Lemmy during a seance at the Wacken Open Air festival in Germany, where his ashes were scattered following his death in 2015 at the age of 70.

Lupita Nyong’o shares life advice from Reese Witherspoon

OHMYGOSSIP — Lupita Nyong’o was given some “very practical” life advice from Reese Witherspoon.
The ’12 Years a Slave’ star has revealed she was given a helpful tip from fellow actress Reese, who urged her to always be the first to reply in group email chains because it makes sure others “take you seriously”.
In a video filmed for Harper’s Bazaar, she explained: “The best piece of life advice I’ve received from another woman … This is very, very practical. Reese Witherspoon advised me to always be the first to answer group emails.
“And I think that’s great advice, because it means people will have to take you seriously as you’re quick to respond. I try.”
Lupita went on to reveal she feels like “administrative work” such as answering emails saps her “vitality” so she tries to make time for herself so she can be creative.
She added: “There’s so many demands on our lives today for me there’s a lot of administrative work, lots of emails to answer – dishes in the sink! All of that and it can take away a lot of my vitality.
“So for me, creativity is something that I have to safeguard, I have to make time for it, and I have to be very deliberate … Creativity comes to me in the shower.”
She also admitted she works hard to keep her confidence levels up, explaining: “It’s not something that you have one day and then you have it forever. Your confidence will always be tried, and so it’s important to put in the work to keep it alive, keep it taut, keep it in play.”
Lupita concluded by sharing her own piece of life advice, urging others to live in the present rather than be fixated on the future.
She said: “It’s important to have goals and dreams but your life is being lived now so enjoy it while you have it.”

James has been shunned by Hollywood in recent years. However, the actor appreciates that he’s still able to work in the movie business.
James – who has previously received treatment for sexual addiction – explained: “I’m so grateful to be working.
“I did go through a lawsuit, and during that lawsuit I wasn’t working. But then COVID hit so everybody wasn’t working. So, I don’t know, it was all … I mean, we were all kind of in it. So it was sort of like, ‘I don’t know what I am.’
“But I did certainly use the time to, I hope, good purpose. And whatever had been going on with me before, I had to change my whole way of life. So I am proud of the kind of work I did during that time.”
