Bruce Willis’ stutter returned before FTD diagnosis

OHMYGOSSIP — Bruce Willis’ first frontotemporal dementia (FTD) symptom was the return of his stutter.
The ‘Die Hard’ star retired from acting in 2022 after being diagnosed aphasia, but it later emerged his communication problems were a result of dementia, and his wife Emma Heming Willis has now told how they didn’t initially realise there was anything wrong.
She told Town and Country magazine: “For Bruce, it started with language. He had a severe stutter as a child.
“He went to college, and there was a theatre teacher who said, ‘I’ve got something that’s going to help you.’ From that class, Bruce realised that he could memorise a script and be able to say it without stuttering. That’s what propelled him into acting.
“Bruce has always had a stutter, but he has been good at covering it up. As his language started changing, it [seemed like it] was just a part of a stutter, it was just Bruce.
“Never in a million years would I think it would be a form of dementia for someone so young.”
The 46-year-old model – who has daughters Mabel, 12, and 10-year-old Evelyn with the 69-year-old star – is planning to write a book about her family’s experiences in order to “take some control back” and to celebrate the positives in their story.
She said: “We had so many plans, so many beautiful things we wanted to do with our girls, so many things that we wanted to experience together. You just rip that page out completely, and then how do you rewrite the story?
“I’m learning how to take some control back. It might not be the most beautiful story I could have thought of, but there are cracks of light.
“There’s been an enormous amount of strength and a lot of beautiful things that have come from this diagnosis, and I’m trying to throw it back into the pot so other people can know that they will be okay over time.”
And Emma hopes her book will be able to help others in a similar position.
She said: “It’s not just about how to care for your loved one, it’s about how to look after yourself in the process.
“All these experts and clinicians who have helped me find my own footing in this have said, ‘You cannot be a caring partner for your loved one if you are not caring for yourself.’
“This book is about all the emotions that come with caregiving: the sadness, the grief, how traumatic it is, but also resentment and anger, and all these emotions that you’re not allowed to talk about. It’s the book that I wish I had been handed when we got the FTD diagnosis.
“I wish I had heard from someone, like, “I know this feels horrible and very traumatic, but you’re going to be okay.”

Olivia Rodrigo took steps not to go ‘a little crazy’ on tour

OHMYGOSSIP — Olivia Rodrigo needed her therapist to stop her going “a little crazy” on the road.
The 21-year-old singer spent months travelling the globe for her ‘Guts World Tour’ and although she had a lot of fun experiencing new places, she admitted the mammoth run of shows took a toll on her body and mind so she had to work hard to stay “grounded” and look after her health.
She told Rolling Stone magazine: “It was my first arena tour and I got to go to so many fun places that I’ve always dreamed of going, like in Asia and Europe. I just feel like I got to see so much of the world and got to get cultured a lot. So that was so much fun.
“But being on stage night after night for months on end is really taxing on the body and on your mind. You can start to go a little crazy if you don’t make a real effort to keep yourself grounded and talk to people and call your therapist and make sure that you’re taking care of your mental health.
“So, there were certainly some days that were harder than others in that respect, but I’m happy that I did it. I feel like I’m so much stronger an individual because of this experience. I’m just grateful for the whole thing.”
During her downtime, Olivia watched ‘Sex and the City’ “every day” and found it important to keep exercising.
Asked how she looked after herself on the road, she said: “I would watch ‘Sex and the City’ every day. I’m not even being hyperbolic. That was my comfort show.
“I read a lot on the road to really try to be a good reader and learn some stuff. I was big on exercising just for mental and for physical [reasons]. A show is physically very draining, but I found that exercise really helps me stay kind of centered.”
Since the tour ended, the ‘Bad Idea Right?’ hitmaker has enjoyed home comforts and hanging out with the people she loves.
She said: “I have just been seeing all my friends. It’s been so nice. The road can get kind of lonely, and I’ve missed everyone so much.
“It’s been so good to see my family and my friends and just chill out and drive my car.
“Everyone talks about how nice it is to sleep in your own bed after a while, but driving your own car is also very nice.”

Despite this, Teri’s first speaking role didn’t arrive until 1968, when she appeared in the The Monkees film ‘Head’, which was produced by Jack Nicholson and Bob Rafelson.
Teri then became a regular feature on ‘The Sonny and Cher Comedy Hour’ in the early 1970s. Then, 1974 proved to be a landmark year in her career, when she starred in Francis Ford Coppola’s ‘The Conversation’ and Mel Brooks’ ‘Young Frankenstein’.

Shailene Woodley: I’ve never had a problem with saying no

OHMYGOSSIP — Shailene Woodley has “never had a problem with saying no”.
The 32-year-old actress has enjoyed huge success in her career, and Shailene has insisted she won’t “compromise” her values.
The Hollywood star told NaturalDiamonds.com: “I’ve never had a problem with saying no.
“No circumstance could ever convince me to compromise the things that provide me with a fulfilled, joyful life. It’s easier for me to say no and walk away than to feel like I gave up a piece of myself.
“If I make a decision that doesn’t feel authentic to what I want, the only person who gets emotionally and mentally beat up is me. I think, ‘Why did I let that happen?’ and that’s a s***** way to live.”
Shailene has been acting since the age of five, and over the years, the movie star has learned to identify when people are being insincere with her.
She said: “I feel like it’s one of my superpowers.
“In the past, when something happened that would throw me off, it would break me because I felt betrayed.
“I also used to think that I could be a force of positivity or aid in a shift, but now I’ve realised it’s only if an individual or a situation wants to adapt that it will. I’ve done a lot of work on myself [to figure that out].”
Earlier this year, Shailene praised Kate Winslet for helping her to remain grounded.
The actress worked with the award-winning star on ‘Divergent’ in 2014 and ‘Insurgent’ in 2015, and Shailene still appreciates the advice she was given by her co-star.
During an appearance on ‘The Drew Barrymore Show’, Shailene shared: “She’s so, not to overuse the word real, but she’s just real. She is who she is, and she’s not afraid to be who she is. And she’s done the hard work.”

Danielle Fishel’s life transformed by cancer diagnosis

OHMYGOSSIP — Danielle Fishel’s “whole life” has changed since receiving her cancer diagnosis.
The 43-year-old actress publicly revealed her breast cancer diagnosis earlier this year, and Danielle has now admitted that it’s transformed her life.
The Hollywood star – who is best known for playing Topanga Lawrence in the TV sitcom ‘Boy Meets World’ – told PEOPLE: “It’s like, ‘Wow. Even for cancer that was found at stage zero, my whole life has changed’.
“My life has become many doctor’s appointments and constantly checking up. And it’ll be monitoring side effects.
“It’s not fun, but it is what it is. And with all that said, I’m very fortunate and I’m going to live, which is the most important thing.”
Although Danielle’s cancer was diagnosed at an early stage, the actress is insistent that undergoing treatment is never easy.
She said: “I remember very early on when I was diagnosed … someone said to me, ‘I just want you to know, I’m so happy you found your cancer early. But there is no such thing as easy cancer.'”
Danielle previously revealed that she’s determined to use her platform to encourage other people to pay closer attention to their own health.
The actress told PEOPLE: “When I was trying to make the decision about whether or not I wanted to talk about it publicly, my first instinct was to just keep it quiet, not tell anybody and just get through it. Suffer through it alone.
“But it was like, okay, I have the ability to go out there and tell a large amount of people that had it not been for me being so on top of my yearly check-up, I may not have found this.
“Had I said, ‘I did my mammogram last year, I was totally fine. What are the odds that in one year I’m going to have anything? I’ll be fine. I’ll put it off,’ it could have been much worse for me.”

Songwriting helps me to feel sane, says Olivia Rodrigo

OHMYGOSSIP — Olivia Rodrigo’s songwriting process helps her to feel “sane”.
The 21-year-old singer has revealed that she loves writing her own tunes, likening it to a “self-care thing”.
Olivia – who has enjoyed a meteoric rise over recent years – told The Hollywood Reporter: “I love writing songs. It helps me feel sane and human.
“It’s kind of like a self-care thing for me. It’s like journalling or something, or calling your therapist. That’s kind of what songwriting is to me, so I’m always writing songs.
“But I’m trying not to put too much pressure on making something that’s going to be heard by a lot of people right now. I’m kind of having fun with it.”
Despite her success, Olivia is determined to retain a healthy sense of perspective, insisting that she doesn’t judge herself by chart success.
The ‘Bad Idea Right?’ hitmaker said: “It is so hard.
“I’m 21, I feel like I’m still flying by the seat of my pants in so many ways, but I think looking back at that time where my music was starting to take off and I was starting to gain some traction, it was all super-exciting, but I think it’s really important to remember at the end of the day that the things that really give you purpose in life probably aren’t charts or awards or stuff like that. And I think if you keep that mindset, then you’ll be a happier, more grounded individual.”
Olivia has already achieved a lot of her professional ambitions. But the chart-topping star would still love to work with Gwen Stefani.
She shared: “I love her so much, and I got to perform with her this year at Coachella.
“She’s such a nice, grounded, sweet woman, and I think her songs are such guidebooks for me in my song writing. And so it would be cool to make something with her today. That’d be awesome.
“She’s so versatile. She’s the ultimate cool girl. Nobody does it like her. She’s awesome.”

Wendell Pierce wants Suits LA cameo

OHMYGOSSIP — Wendell Pierce hopes to land a cameo in ‘Suits L.A.’.
The 60-year-old actor – who played Robert Zane, the father of Meghan, Duchess of Sussex’s character Rachel Zane, in the legal drama – joked he and his former co-stars ought to be offered roles in the upcoming spin-off series because despite the original programme experiencing a resurgence after it was made available on Netflix, they haven’t made any more money as a result.
Speaking on SiriusXM’s ‘The Spotlight with Jessica Shaw’, he said: “I think it’s the most fascinating thing that all of a sudden, our show got on Netflix and it blew up.
“We got a text, a chain text, from Gabriel Macht (Harvey Specter) who’s the lead, and he just sent this text to everyone saying, ‘WTF.’
“I mean, there’s a new ‘Suits’ being produced right now, so I’m sure that we will be making cameos on it.
“I better be asked to make a cameo on the show ’cause we went on strike because we’re not getting anything from that resurgence.”
He then more seriously added: “But I would love to make a cameo on the show.”
‘Suits L.A.’ will star Stephen Amell as Ted Black, a former New York prosecutor who has “reinvented himself representing the most powerful clients in Los Angeles.”
None of the show’s original cast have been confirmed to appear in the new programme.
Meanwhile, Wendell previously reflected on his last day working with Meghan before she married Prince Harry and gave up acting.
He told E! News: “I’m always reminded of the last day working with Meghan, which was the wedding scene prior to her engagement to the prince. I said, ‘Meghan, your life is going to be a whirlwind. You’re going to be in this bubble.'”
Following her marriage to Harry, the couple relinquished their royal duties in pursuit of a private life in California where they now live with their children Prince Archie, five, and Princess Lilibet, three, but have become somewhat estranged from the rest of the family in recent years.

Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York has ‘responsibility’ to look after the planet

OHMYGOSSIP — Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York, believes her generation have a “responsibility” to look after the planet.
The 65-year-old royal – who is grandmother to pregnant Princess Beatrice’s three-year-old girl Sienna and her eight-year-old stepson Wolfie, and Princess Eugenie’s sons August, three, and 15-month-old Ernest – hopes to instill in her grandchildren a love of the countryside and though she won’t “preach” about taking care of nature, she wants to lead by example.
She told Britain’s HELLO! magazine: “I try to lead by example, and not teach or preach. I was brought up in the countryside, immersed in the natural world and with a love of nature, encouraged to treat flora and fauna with respect.
“I want my grandchildren to take time to learn about the countryside, to enjoy making shapes with leaves and to be curious. I feel strongly that my generation has a responsibility to hand a sustainable planet to our grandchildren – I want them to see poppy fields, harvests and the power of nature.”
Sarah has written a new children’s book, ‘Flora and Fern: Wonder in the Woods’, and not only is she passionate about getting kids reading, its something she loves to do with her grandchildren.
She said: “August reads ‘Wonder in the Woods’ every night and I read to Sienna, August and Ernie as much as I can. Reading is a way to spend time together, especially at Christmas.
“Reading is one of the main reasons I love writing children’s books. We need to encourage literacy; 30 per cent of five year olds are falling behind expected reading levels and one in three disadvantaged children cannot read or write at the expected level for 11 year olds.”
After battling both breast and skin cancer over the last year, Sarah – who was previously married to Prince Andrew – credits her family for getting her through the challenging times.
Asked how she had got through the tougher moments, she said: “My children, the joy of being a grandmother, writing my children’s books and working on my next novel. Writing is my escape.
“I write in longhand with a fountain pen in my study and the stories just flow. I love to explore my imagination and I’m inspired by nature, as is the case with this book.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Jenna Ortega has reflected on the video posted to Facebook that helped launch her career.
The 22-year-old actress caught the attention of casting agents when she was just seven years old after her mother shared footage of her delivering a “dramatic monologue” for her friends, and she’s noted now her career began online “like many Gen Zers”.
The ‘Wednesday’ star shared the clip in the final episode of the documentary series ‘My Generation’, and said: “My mom shot this video and put it on Facebook for her friends, and they loved it.

“Like many Gen Zers, you can say my career was also launched online.”
In the clip, which was filmed by her mom, the young aspiring actress said: “Hi, my name is Jenna Ortega, and I’m seven years old. Right now, I’m going to show you my dramatic monologue.”

The ‘Beetlejuice Beetlejuice’ actress has enjoyed a meteoric rise in recent years, and Jenna recently admitted she is still adjusting to her new-found status as one of Hollywood’s biggest names.

Jenna actually relished being able to lean on Winona Ryder – her ‘Beetlejuice Beetlejuice’ co-star – for some advice about navigating fame at such a young age.
She explained: “I’m very grateful to be where I am and she had kind of a similar thing to say.
“It was just so nice to speak to someone who actually understood me because … you know, you can turn to your family who loves and supports you, but they don’t know. You know?
“It was really insightful and opening – and that was definitely one of the things we connected on.”

“My family are healthy, and that’s all you can ask for. I’m in a good place. But I regret nothing from the past.
“Hal and I still talk.”
The pair met when they worked on the hit West End rock opera musical ‘Tommy’ in 1996.
They tied the knot in September of that year in Codicote, Hertfordshire – just six months after they met.

The son of Queen Camila, 77, has admitted it’s been a “very worrying” time for the 76-year-old monarch and the rest of the Royal Family since he was diagnosed with the “terrifying disease” in January, but he’s doing all he can and following doctors’ advice.
Speaking to PEOPLE magazine, the writer said: “The King is strong. He is doing what he can. He’s following the advice of his doctors. Fingers crossed, touch wood.
“It’s a terrifying disease, and when someone close to you gets it in whatever capacity, it’s a very worrying thing.”
Tom is “incredibly proud” of his mother for how “strong” she has been for her husband.
He continued: “But my mother is strong as well. She supports him in every way. I think it’s wonderful to have someone you love by your side.
“I’m incredibly proud of her. She’s at an age when most people think of retiring, but she never complains; she just gets on with it.”
Meanwhile, Tom revealed he is yet to spend Christmas with the Royal Family.
The 49-year-old food critic might be the son of the queen, but he insists he and his family don’t spend their time “running around palaces” and he hasn’t been to Sandringham to spend to experience one of their traditional festive family meals yet.
He said: “We are married in, we are not the royal family – I’ve never for one second said that.
“I find everyone incredibly nice and friendly and we’ve know them all for a long time. It does seem natural.
“That’s not to say myself and the children spend time running around palaces.
“I have my own job and the children have school. I haven’t been to Christmas yet for various reasons.”

Bruce Springsteen ‘changed’ Thom Zimny’s life

OHMYGOSSIP — Bruce Springsteen “changed” Thom Zimny’s life.
The accomplished filmmaker, who has been directing The Boss, 75, for over 20 years, is grateful to the rock icon and his manager Jon Landau, 77, for giving him the “opportunity” to have “a voice” as a director.
Speaking to Radio Times magazine following the release of his Disney+ film ‘Road Diary: Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band’, he said: “I first met Bruce in 2000 when I was editing the concert film ‘Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band: Live in New York City’.
“I was hired for one week, and it ended up going into another six months … and now here we are today, almost 25 years later.
“Bruce and [his manager] Jon Landau have been a huge influence on my career. They changed my life.
“I met them as an editor, and they opened up the opportunity to have a voice as a film director, which opened up doors to explore art and life.
“That is constantly reflected on all my other projects, including documentaries I’ve since done on Elvis, Johnny Cash and Sylvester Stallone.”
The documentary film, which premiered on October 25, offers “the most in-depth look ever” at how the group’s iconic live performances are made.
It also features fly-on-the-wall footage of the band rehearsing, special backstage moments and more from the ‘Born in the U.S.A.’ hitmaker.
And the director says they wanted fans to feel like they were in the room as Bruce and co rehearsed.
Thom said: “This film has a different structural approach than a conventional concert film because I use archival footage to tell a story about Springsteen and the history of the band.
“I use Bruce’s voiceover as a storytelling device, as well as original footage and interviews to sculpt the story.”
He added: “I wanted the film to make Springsteen fans feel like they were dropping in to see them rehearse, were hanging out and sharing stories about some of the early days on the road.
“Then Bruce comes in and says what he’s been thinking and feeling lately.”
‘Road Diary: Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band’ is available to stream on Disney+.

OHMYGOSSIP — Brooklyn Peltz Beckham hopes to make his future children proud of their father by “making a name for himself”.
The 25-year-old son of retired soccer ace David Beckham, 49, and his fashion designer wife Victoria Beckham, 50, admits he struggled to settle on a career path, having tried photography and acting, and has also been brushed with the “nepo baby” label, but he is determined to succeed in his latest venture in the kitchen.

Brooklyn – who is an older brother to Romeo, 22, Cruz, 19 and 13-year-old Harper – only hopes that he can do as amazing job as his own “loving” parents when it comes to being a father.
He continued: “I really know I’m going to be a great dad. My mum and dad were the best mum and dad ever.

Sharing his biggest ambition in life, he added: “I really want to make a name for myself. I want my kids to grow up and be like, ‘My daddy did that.’ That’s what I think about.

“I did enjoy photography for a minute, then I ended up not enjoying it; I wasn’t passionate.”

Armie Hammer finds idea of his kids finding him online ‘really scary’

OHMYGOSSIP — Armie Hammer finds it “scary” that his children can search for him online.
The ‘Call Me by Your Name’ actor saw his career go into freefall in 2021 after being accused of physical and sexual abuse and he admitted he is worried about Harper, nine, and seven-year-old Ford – his kids with ex-wife Elizabeth Chambers – finding out the details one day, but he is ready to have some tough conversations with them in the future.
Speaking with Tom Arnold on his new ‘The Armie HammerTime’ podcast, Armie admitted the fact his children will be able to search for him online one day is “really scary for me”.
His guest replied: “I’m sure you’re so honest that you’ll have those conversations.”
Armie agreed: “100%, when it’s time.”
The 65-year-old actor pointed out how Armie has taken the time to work on himself, and the ‘Rebecca’ star insisted he hadn’t done so to try and resurrect his career.
He said: “When something like this happens, we do all this work on ourselves, not so that we can get the jobs back but so that we don’t care if we get the jobs back. I think that’s where I feel like I am now.”
The 38-year-old star has got sober following the controversy and he is “really grateful” that he has become a better and more present father as a result.
He said: “I look at how my sobriety has affected my parenting and my ability to show up as a parent.
“That’s one of the things that I’m really grateful [for] in terms of where I’m at with my life. I get to actually be a dad.”
Armie previously admitted that his acting ambitions were “killed” by rumours of him having cannibal fantasies, but now he just sees the funny side of the “wild” speculation.
He said: “It’s wild. I’m not going to lie, I kind of like the cannibal stuff now. I’m just like, ‘Hey, I’m a cannibal.’
“The accusations are the thing that make so much noise. Like, what makes more noise? ‘Armie Hammer is a cannibal’ or ‘Armie Hammer might not be a cannibal?’ The cannibal thing makes more noise and you don’t get an apology tour in this world. Like, someone says something about you, everyone believes it, and they move on with their lives to whatever it is they’re focused on, because they’ve got their own lives.”

Reflecting on their embrace at the venue – which was built in 2003 for Celine’s ‘A New Day…’ residency and has subsequently been used by the likes of Kylie Minogue, Diana Ross and Sir Elton John – Adele wrote on X: “I have been performing in Celine Dion’s room at the Colosseum for almost 2 years now.
“It was the only venue I wanted to play in Vegas because it was built for her. I have a picture of her right next to the stage that I touch every night before I walk on and she came to the show this weekend and it was a surprise and it was a MOMENT!!
“Celine I love you so very very much. Words will never sum up what you mean to me, or what you coming to my show means, let alone how it felt seeing you back in your palace with your beautiful family… Such a full circle moment for me to be there with you. Thank you so much.(sic)”

She wrote on Instagram at the time: “Queen Celine! What a show, an absolute highlight of my life, thank you so much for the attention to your crowd and insane humour. Happy New Year lady x.”

Adele previously revealed one of her most treasured possessions is a piece of gum chewed by Celine which she had framed.
During a video interview for Vogue, Adele explained: “It’s pretty amazing. James Corden – who’s a friend of mine but also does Carpool Karaoke, which I did – did one with her. He knew how much of a fan I was of her and he made her spit her gum into a piece of paper and she framed it for me.”
