Loose Women star Katie Piper to front another prison documentary series

OHMYGOSSIP — Katie Piper is to front a second prison documentary series.
The 40-year-old presenter hosted ‘Katie Piper’s Jailhouse Mums’ in the US last year and will now continue working with women behind bars as she heads to the south for ‘Katie Piper: Locked Up In Louisiana’.
She said: “On camera I am committed to working with women in prisons to understand motivation and help rehabilitation, and I’m really proud to be making this series with Flicker and U+W – they are an all-female team that has empathy and storytelling at the heart of what they do.”
The new documentary series – which will comprise four 60 minute episodes – will air on U+W in 2025 and the ‘Loose Women’ star noted that she just wants to “understand” how women have ended up at the New Orleans Parish Prison in the first place.
She said: “We travelled to America and in one prison I try to understand what has led the women we meet to this point, what circumstances Have they been living in, what trauma they experienced and how their lives have been affected. For some this isn’t simple, and we consider how a wide range of factors affect different people in different ways.”
It is one of many celebrity-fronted documentaries coming up for the broadcaster, with others including ‘Stacey Dooley Sleeps Over’ and ‘Stacey Dooley Sleeps Over USA’, ‘Emma Willis: Delivering Babies’ ,’Katherine Ryan: Parental Guidance’, ‘Gemma and Gorka: Life Behind The Lens’.
Senior Commissioning Editor Kirsty Hanson says, “We are thrilled to be working with Katie and the brilliant team at Flicker again on the brand new series ‘Katie Piper: Locked Up In Louisiana’.
“This time we will see Katie meet women who have been accused of very serious and sometimes heinous crimes and try to unravel and understand their motivations. With our previous series ‘Katie Piper: Jailhouse Mums’ being such a success with our audience, this series promises to follow suit being a captivating and poignant watch.”

EastEnders star Martine McCutcheon splits from husband after 18 years

OHMYGOSSIP — Martine McCutcheon has split from her husband Jack McManus after 18 years together.
The 48-year-old actress tied the knot with singer Jack, 40, in 2012 and has nine-year-old son Rafferty with him but she announced on Thursday (22.08.24) evening that he had decided it was “best” for them to end things.
She wrote on Instagram: “After much thought and consideration, Jack has decided it’s best for us to separate after 18 years together and I accept his decision.
“We are both so very blessed and grateful for our beautiful, 9 years old son Rafferty, who’s happiness and welfare has always been, and will continue to be, our number 1 priority.
“We both of course, still cherish and look forward to being parents together to our wonderful boy for the rest of our lives…
“Our love for Rafferty, is something that will never waver, or change and we obviously want to protect him and help him feel as safe and secure as possible.
“Many thanks in advance for your respect and support at this difficult time…and I continue to send Jack, all the love, luck and happiness for the new chapter of his life.
“Rafferty and I (as always) are rooting for you!
“Thank you all, for the love and support, now and always.”
Meanwhile, when asked to comment on the split, Jack told MailOnline: “There is nothing more to add. I will not be saying anything more about this.”
Just days before the split was announced, Martine – who is best known for playing Tiffany Mitchell on the BBC soap opera ‘EastEnders’ in the late 1990s and also starred in ‘Love Actually’ opposite Hugh Grant – paid a tribute to her husband on social media to mark his 40th birthday, but noted that it was “bittersweet” because he had recently lost his dad.
She said on Instagram: “Darling Jack, Happy 40th Birthday Darling. I know it’s a weird one and bittersweet as you have lost your Darling Dad, Mick and he was your best friend…It’s so hard to see you miss someone so much, but you know when I lost my brother that I understand your grief and pain.
“And I also know that in time, you will value the gift of even having him be such a major role in your life and that he will be with you always. Nothing will ever take that away… You will appreciate the gift of life and those you love even more!”

Linda Nolan wants to ‘live life to the fullest’ despite cancer battle: ‘Every day is a gift…’

OHMYGOSSIP — Linda Nolan wants to “live life to the fullest” despite her cancer diagnosis.
The 65-year-old star was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005 before getting the all-clear a year later, but in 2017, the disease had spread to her brain, bones and liver, and Linda has been battling ever since.
But she has now insisted that she has always been “determined to fight” and tries her best to “focus on the positives” amid the support from her family, friends and fans.
She told Platinum magazine: “When I was first diagnosed, it was a shock, but I was determined to fight. The return of the cancer was a harder blow, knowing it was incurable. But I’ve always believed in living life to the fullest and that’s what I continue to do. Every day is a gift.
“It’s not always easy, but I’ve always tried to focus on the positives. If you lose hope, you lose everything. My family, friends and fans have been a tremendous support. Knowing that my story can help others gives me strength and I feel it’s a way of giving back, for all the support I’ve received.”
However, the former ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ housemate- who shot to fame alongside her sisters as part of The Nolans in the 1970s – still believes in being vocal when things aren’t going too well instead of always wanting to “feel brave” as she urged her fans to get regular check-ups.
She added: “I also believe in not being afraid to say when things aren’t great. People feel guilt and pressure to always ‘be brave’ or ‘be positive’. It’s well meant, but sometimes we just need to feel how we feel?
“My consultant has always said we’re in a marathon, not a sprint.’
“‘Don’t ignore any signs or symptoms and make sure to get regular check-ups. When I first found lumps, I was scared and kept putting off seeing a doctor.
‘Also, remember you’re not alone. There’s a community out there ready to support you. The Macmillan nurses are incredible, and they are with you every step of the way. Stay hopeful and cherish every moment. Please don’t be frightened?’

Jon Watts hints at making a Wolfs sequel

OHMYGOSSIP — Jon Watts will “let the audience decide” if he makes a ‘Wolfs’ sequel.
The 43-year-old director helmed the new action-comedy film – which stars George Clooney, Brad Pitt and Amy Ryan – and Jon has now revealed that he’s open to the possibility of making a sequel, if the fans call for it.
Jon told Vanity Fair: “Apple’s been talking to me about a sequel since I turned in my cut in December. That’s always been an ongoing discussion.
“I absolutely did not write the movie with a sequel in mind. But it was very fun to make, so I don’t know, I think you let the audience decide if they want to see more.”
Jon relished the experience of working with George, 63, and Brad, 60.
The director revealed that he particularly admires their versatility as actors, which allows them to switch between different genres and characters.
He shared: “I love George in ‘The American’ and ‘Michael Clayton’. And I like when he is goofy too.
“Them being able to do both is also something that’s so rare. To be able to be so deadly serious and then also be very funny and very silly is impressive.
“I like Brad in ‘Killing Them Softly’. I’ve seen ‘Fight Club’ so many times. There’s a gesture.
“Brad has all these physicalities that I tried to bring out or write lines where I knew he would be able to do that thing. I love him in ‘Se7en’.
“I like him playing naive. It’s hard to not geek out when you’re with them on set. It was actually a very fun set because, in between takes, they’d hang out.
“Even when it was freezing cold in New York on the street, they’d just hang out and they’d tell stories.”

Mark Wahlberg was ‘terrified’ of making Boogie Nights

OHMYGOSSIP — Mark Wahlberg was initially “terrified” of starring in ‘Boogie Nights’.
The 53-year-old actor played adult film star Dirk Diggler in 1997 period drama, but Mark was initially hesitant about making the film because he wanted to distance himself from his Calvin Klein modelling career.
The Hollywood star told Variety: “I was terrified because it was like, the pitch was tough.
“It’s like Ted, a guy and a teddy bear smoking weed. That doesn’t sound very appealing, right? Or a porn star. I was like, ‘Ah, I don’t want to do that.’ I had just come from Calvin Klein and all that stuff. I was trying to get away from all that.
“‘Showgirls’ had just come out. That movie was not successful. I had never met [director Paul Thomas Anderson].
“I didn’t see ‘Hard Eight’, but everybody was telling me how amazing it was, so I read 25 or 30 pages of it, put it down, waited till I met with him. As soon as I met with him, it was like, ‘Okay, I get it.’ And then I finished the script, I was cast in the part.
“We were both 25 at the time. It was wild.”
The movie proved to be a turning point in Mark’s career.
But the actor acknowledges that it wouldn’t be given the green light by a Hollywood film studio in 2024.
Mark – who first found fame in the 90s as part of the hip-hop group Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch – explained: “That movie ain’t getting made today. Not at a studio.”

LeAnn Rimes got ‘really emotional’ on the set of The Voice

OHMYGOSSIP — LeAnn Rimes got “really emotional” on the set of ‘The Voice.’
The 41-year-old singer replaced Anne-Marie as a judge on the ITV1 talent show and the UK and spent “whole episodes” in floods of tears as she and co-stars Sir Tom Jones, Tom Fletcher, Danny Jones, and will.i.am made tough decisions over who to send through and who to send home.
LeAnn is quoted by the Daily Star newspaper’s HOTTV column as saying: “I cried the whole episodes. I really did. I got really emotional on set.
“It broke my heart that we didn’t turn for people, and we don’t get to see some of the artists. We don’t get to know the stories or watch their backstory. We were all just sitting there heartbroken for those people.
“For me, it’s always about a feeling — do you make me cry? Do you give me chills?
“Can you communicate what you’re singing and hit my heart? Because that’s how you draw people in. And then, when it touches me, I’m turning. That’s the magic.”
The ‘Can’t Fight The Moonlight singer was a new addition to the series alongside McFly star Tom -who replaced ‘Troublemaker’ singer Olly Murs following his five-year tenure on the panel- and she admitted her fellow newcomer was also moved to tears during the auditions.
She said: “He cried as much as I did. Both of us had a cry-off at some point be- cause we were both so moved by some of these artists.”
But Olly admitted that his sudden axing from the series came as “a bit of a shock” as he acquiesced that bosses would find “someone great” to fill his shoes.
Speaking in September, he told The Sun newspaper: “I’m gutted. I got the call last week to say I won’t be back on the show, and it’s a bit of a shock, to be honest. I didn’t really expect that to come.
“But I don’t want to sit here like other artists might, and shine and gloss this up and say, ‘It was my decision’. I don’t want to do that.
“I don’t want to… say, ‘Oh, it was an amicable decision to leave – I’ve got lots of things on next year, I can’t do it any more’.
“No. Genuinely, I accept their decision, and they’ll find someone great, I’m sure. But am I going to miss it? Yeah.
“Did I want to leave? No. Will I still watch the show? Of course, but it’ll be sore thinking that could have been me… .”
‘The Voice’ returns on August 31 at 8pm, on ITV1 ITVX.

Changing Rooms star Anna Ryder Richardson admits she has been through ‘the worst time’ with divorce

OHMYGOSSIP — Anna Ryder Richardson has been through “the worst time” since her marriage ended.
The 60-year-old presenter tied the knot with Colin MacDougall – with whom she has daughters Bibi, 22, and 21-year-old Dixie – in 2005 but called time on their marriage in 2018 but admitted as they prepare for the divorce to be finalized, she has been in a “horrid limbo” ever since the initial split.
Speaking on the ‘How To Be 60’ podcast, she told ‘Loose Women’ anchor Kaye Adams: “I am enjoying a bit of celibacy, to be honest…but we’ve dived straight in there, haven’t we? I’m officially still married for another few weeks.
“It’s been probably the worst time, I think. It’s actually been going on such a long time. Have I wasted all that time? Being in this horrid limbo and control and not really living my life, even though I look like them.
“Every cloud has a very big silver lining. That’s the way I’ve always looked at everything. You always have to look for the positives. I’m really lucky, even if when I look back, it’s been pretty unlucky and pretty vile. But I think I still would say that I’m a survivor, without a doubt.”
Meanwhile, the former ‘Changing Rooms’ host reached her milestone birthday in January and initially didn’t want to make a fuss but her friends and daughters insisted that they go out to celebrate.
She said: “Yes, I’ve turned 60 and like a lot of women, or a lot of people out there, I didn’t really want to shout that from the rooftops. 50 we’re kind of okay with but 60?! “When I was young, 60 was virtually walking around with a walking stick.
But my friends were like ‘No, we’re gonna celebrate’, my girls were like ‘We’re wanna celebrate, come on, let’s go out. There wasn’t a huge amount of us.”

She shared: “Sometimes I bring my synthesiser to set because I feel like music is the best way to get to know somebody.
“You know, you come on these sets and you see people that you’ve never met before, and then you’re super close to them for two months and then you never see them again … So i got this synthesiser because I wanted to play music for people or get a feel for what they like and I can make a playlist and get to know them a little bit better.”

Speaking on talkSport radio, he said: “I’m gonna be speaking to my lawyers is all I can say about it right now. As you can probably see, I am not happy about it. I can’t really talk right now.

“Given the array of serious allegations being reported as the story continues to evolve, it’s for Jermaine as a private individual to address them in the way he chooses.

Kirsty Gallacher shares update about her tumour

OHMYGOSSIP — Kirsty Gallacher is hopeful that her ear tumour could “shrink” on its own.
The 38-year-old presenter was diagnosed with a benign acoustic neuroma in the inner canal of her right ear,in summer 2021 and has now shared an update regarding the treatment progress.
She told the Daily Star: “The tumour is a benign acoustic neuroma which they don’t really know how they are caused.
“I am in close contact with my consultant and recently it was great to hear that it hasn’t grown so I can put off treatment. Eventually, I may need treatment to shrink it but with these things, you never know it could shrink itself!”
“My hearing is slightly compromised in that ear and it causes low-level tinnitus which can disrupt my sleep but I’ve learnt to live with it and I’m used to it.”
The tumour led Kirsty to leave her role as a presenter at GB News in late 2021 as she started to experience symptoms of tinnitus, a condition which makes noises sound like a ringing, humming, or buzzing and can occur in one or both ears. The condition is made worse by sleep deprivation which Kirsty was experiencing with the early starts required for her role on GB News.
The former ‘Great British Breakfast’ star previously revealed she gained “too much muscle” after a series of intensive gym workouts.
Kirsty- who was married to rugby star Paul Sampson from 2010 until 2015 – hit the gym in the years following her divorce but admitted she had been left with a look that “didn’t suit her” after lifting weights which were too heavy for her natural frame.
She said during an Instagram live: “I was lifting too many weights for my frame. A few people were like, ‘That doesn’t suit you!’ so I’ve come down on weight. I’ve got that strength, but I don’t want to get too bulky again because it just didn’t look right on me. My clothes were popping out.”

Rylan Clark reveals how he made contestants feel comfortable on ‘Dating Naked’

OHMYGOSSIP — Rylan Clark had a good look at ‘Dating Naked’ contestants in the buff.
The 35-year-old presenter hosts the new reality show where contestants date and get to know each other, all while being completely naked in a bid to win a £50,000 cash prize, and insisted on doing a “sweep” of them all in their first meeting.
He told RadioTimes: “The first episode when I walk into the house and see all the daters for the first time, they’re all standing by the pool and I say: ‘Come stand with me.’ As they came and stood with me they had to move a camera and there was like a minute of silence, no one wanted to talk.
“I was standing there and I looked at them all in the eye and went: ‘I’ve just got to get this out of the way’ and I just did a sweep of all of them and they all just burst out laughing.”
With the former ‘X Factor’ star being the only one wearing clothes throughout the series, Rylan shared that after this initial meeting, the contestants trusted him and it became very normal.
He continued: “I’d walk into the house and they’d be like, ‘Rylan!’. And for me coming from a show that’s a reality show as well, it’s so important that the contestants feel that way and I’d want the daters to feel like that.
“[It’s] not just physically they’re naked, but what that did is that it gave them that vulnerability and an equal playing ground because they’re not hiding behind anything, so there was this nice vulnerability rather than a horrible one.
“We’ve skipped over all that prelude, and so they got to know each other a lot easier and a lot deeper than I’ve seen on other shows. And the thread of them being naked runs throughout the 10 episodes, because situations [and] conversations happen because they’re naked.
Dating Naked launches today (23.08.24) on Paramount Plus.

Gladiator II is one of my best movies ever, says Sir Ridley Scott

OHMYGOSSIP — Sir Ridley Scott believes ‘Gladiator II’ is “one of the best” movies of his career.
The 86-year-old filmmaker helmed the original ‘Gladiator’ movie back in 2000, and Ridley has now promised fans that they won’t be disappointed by the new film.
Speaking to Empire, Ridley explained: “It’s the best thing I’ve ever made … One of the best things. I’ve made a few good ’uns.”
Paul Mescal plays the lead character in the much-anticipated new movie, and he relished the challenge of having a physical role.
The 28-year-old actor – who first found international fame in the romantic drama series ‘Normal People’ – shared: “I had always had a kind of latent ambition to do something that was more muscular and physical.
“From a selfish side of things, I wanted to surprise an audience, because I knew that I have this kind of role within me.
“When this came up, I was like, ‘This is something that I don’t think anybody who’s seen the work that I’ve done previously will be expecting,’ and it’s Ridley Scott.”
Ridley and Paul also made a concerted effort to make the combat scenes feel realistic.
The actor explained: “We made an attempt to not feel slick.
“You’re feeling like their bodies are slowing down as they’re fighting. It’s not like ting-ting-ting! It’s more brutal. You’re feeling the fatigue.”
Meanwhile, in 2023, Ridley revealed that he decided to make ‘Gladiator II’ because it made sense “economically”.
The award-winning director told Deadline: “I thought the [first] film was, as it were, completely satisfactory, creatively complete, so why muck with it, right?
“But these cycles keep going on and on and on, they repeat globally for the last 20 years. It started to spell itself out as an obvious thing to do, and that’s how it evolved.”

Ryan Reynolds ‘mortified’ Rob McElhenney flew to London to film axed Deadpool and Wolverine cameo

OHMYGOSSIP — Ryan Reynolds was gutted to cut his pal Rob McElhenney’s cameo from ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’.
Although his brief appearance ended up on the cutting room floor, the 47-year-old actor – who plays the Merc With The Mouth aka Deadpool in the Marvel blockbuster – is “grateful” that his fellow Wrexham AFC co-owner, also 47, supported him on set.
Ryan spilled on Threads: “So, @robmcelhenney kindly did a cameo in D and W.
“The sequence wasn’t working and Rob is why it stayed in the cut for so long. Even under a TVA mask, you can feel him smoldering with a raw, untapped reservoir of intensity. Don’t get me started on Wrexham. I wouldn’t know a love like that if it weren’t for Rob.
“It feels good when friends are nearby. And even though I’m mortified he flew to London for me, I’m grateful [I had] my friend on that set. Rob shows up for people. It’s why he’s the absolute best. (sic)”
He added in another post: “Even as he begged for his life before Alioth snatched his unsuspecting body into the air, swallowing him whole, eventually digesting and converting him into Alioth-poo. RIP TVA Soldier.”
The cameos included Chris Evans as The Human Torch/Johnny Storm, plus Wesley Snipes (Blade), Jennifer Garner (Elektra), Channing Tatum (Remy LeBeau/Gambit), Matthew McConaughey (Cowboy Deadpool) and Ryan’s wife Blake Lively.
Ryan recently revealed the flick nearly featured more cameos from the cast of the 2015 film ‘Fantastic Four’, however, the plans were dropped due to budget concerns.
When Collider asked Ryan if the ‘Fantastic Four’ cast – which included Miles Teller, Michael B. Jordan, Kate Mara and Jamie Bell – were considered for a ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’ cameo, he said: “Yeah, that was a part of it. But like that, you’re never going to get the mislead with like, Chris Evans, you know, with him doing it and the kind of license to thrill after that, with Chris.
“So you know, and also, we were trying to be mindful of the budget. We were trying to make the movie.
“We always understood it’s rated R, you know. It isn’t a blank check, and part of our responsibility is to return the investment that they’re making in us. So I never want a budget that I don’t feel like I can make good on.
“And the more kind of toys you start asking for and the more kind of characters you start wanting to license, the deeper in that sort of point of no return becomes.”

Wolfs ‘was made to be seen in cinemas’

OHMYGOSSIP — Jon Watts’ ‘Wolfs’ was “made to be seen” in cinemas.
The new action-comedy film will only receive a limited theatrical release in the US before it lands on a streaming platform, but Jon has encouraged film fans to watch the movie in a cinema.
Jon – who directed 2021’s ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ – told Vanity Fair: “When we initially made the deal, when I was pitching it to everyone, that was before the last ‘Spider-Man’ came out. So that was when the entire existential future of theatrical movie going was still up in the air.
“From that point on, the theatrical experience has really made an impression on me, of how valuable this thing is and how important it is. I always thought of this as a theatrical movie. We made it to be seen in theatres, and I think that’s the best way to see it.
“It’s funny. It’s filled with twists and turns. I tried to do some interesting things visually and I still think that the best way to see it is in theatres.”
Jon relished the experience of working with George Clooney and Brad Pitt on the film.
The director admitted to being a long-time fan of the Hollywood icons.
He said: “I think it’s interesting because they’re only in three movies together.
“They’re in one scene together for ‘Burn After Reading’. But I think in people’s imagination, they have a longer, richer history than they actually do. So to me that was just so ripe.
“It felt so much easier to be writing in the voice of Brad Pitt and in the voice of George Clooney because I know that voice. I’ve seen every movie that they’ve been in.”

Craig Revel Horwood hopes ‘standards don’t drop’ on this year’s Strictly

OHMYGOSSIP — Craig Revel Horwood hopes the standards “don’t drop” on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ this year.
Professional dancers Giovanni Pernice and Graziano Di Prima were dropped from the professional line-up amid claims of abuse, but both deny wrongdoing.
And the judge hopes it doesn’t result in the show being “watered down and vanilla” because the dancers are afraid to give constructive criticism.
He told The Sun of the controversy: “I hope the standards don’t drop this year.
“When I’m teaching casts for shows in rehearsals, I still have to be quite strict. I think you have to be.
“Can you imagine an Olympian getting gold with his or her trainer not being strict?
“As far as saying, ‘Oh, that was really bad, you need to try it again’, I’m not gonna cry over that.
“You just have to be able to take some criticism. Otherwise, we’re living in a world where no one is criticised, and it will become watered down and vanilla, where no one’s trying.”
The 59-year-old dancer says his own training was extreme and the ‘Strictly’ celebrities would probably have “sued” if they had experienced what he went through.
He added: “I never would have made it without criticism.
“If my teachers hadn’t told me my arms were terrible, way too loose and wild and out of control, I would still be wild and out of control.
“My Russian ballet teacher was always touching my hamstrings. That happened to everyone, to make you work from the hamstring up.
“People will say I was caned, but it’s not about that. It’s about a connection of instructing the muscle to work from underneath and not the top.
“It’s a really simple way of doing it, but if you do that in a Strictly class, you’ll be sued.”
Following the accusations, BBC director general Tim Davie apologised to anyone who has had an experience on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ that “hasn’t been wholly positive”.
