Duchess Meghan inspired by servicemen’s bond

OHMYGOSSIP — Duchess Meghan is inspired by the “unshakeable bond” between servicemen and women.
The Duchess of Sussex – who is expecting a baby with her husband Prince Harry – praised the camaraderie of soldiers as she spoke at the 2018 Invictus Games in Sydney, Australia.
She said: “I’m not sure if many of you know this, but a few years ago, before I met my husband, I had the incredible honor of visiting troops deployed all over the world, from the U.K. to Italy and Afghanistan and several other countries. In traveling to these military bases I was given a very special glimpse into the lives of those who serve our countries, I was able to see the unshakeable bond between servicemen and women on the ground together, but at the same time feel the palpable longing for family and friends while deployed. Once home, the need for that anchor of support from loved ones, especially given how much it accelerates recovery and rehabilitation, is immeasurable. I’ve been reminded of those memories here. During this year’s Games in Sydney I’ve witnessed the most amazing support networks that surround competitors, and I’ve had the privilege of meeting several of these family and friends.”
And the former ‘Suits’ actress was “honoured” to join her husband at the event, which he founded four years ago.
She added: “It is such an honour to be here tonight celebrating all of you and supporting my husband in the Invictus Games, which he founded four years ago. In that short span of time, the Games have evolved into an international platform of some of the best athletics and sportsmanship you could ever witness, coupled with the comradery and close net sense of community, which can only be defined as the Invictus spirit. With that said, and on a very personal note, I just wanted to thank all of you for welcoming me into the Invictus family. I am truly so grateful to be a part of this with each and every one of you.”

Olly Murs looking for the perfect girl

OHMYGOSSIP — Olly Murs wants a girl to “blow his socks off”.
The ‘Dance With Me Tonight’ hitmaker – who split from ex-girlfriend Francesca Thomas in 2015 – has been dating here and there and “having fun” but hasn’t found anyone “perfect” just yet.
He said: “I’ve been dating people, having fun, but there’s nobody perfect. I want someone to blow my socks off.”
However, the 34-year-old singer has been sworn off dating apps and finds them too “judgemental”.
He added: “I found them very judgmental. I’m looking at someone going, ‘Don’t like their eyebrows, don’t like their face, don’t like the outfit.’ You become, what’s the word for it? Shallow? That’s it. Didn’t like it, came off it.”
And the ‘Troublemaker’ singer “struggles” being on his own.
He shared: “I have my family and friends, but I miss that one person who wants to listen to me, give me cuddles, and just to be with me. Especially when you’re a twin, like me; it’s part of your DNA. I struggle to be on my own because I was born with someone … That’s just the person I am, very active. I love meeting people, chatting, the energy. Mind you, if I have a girlfriend I love lazy days in watching TV, having a little snuggle on the sofa. So for me, if I can find the right girl at the right time it would be amazing.”
Olly would love to have children one day – but is waiting to find the right person.
He told The Times’ Weekend supplement: “I’m 35 next year and I want kids, but it’s important to have the right person, the right moment in life. Actually, if I was to have a baby now, I could deal with it. My career is in a good place and I could give this baby, if I had one, an opportunity.”

Rita Ora’s insecurities

OHMYGOSSIP — Rita Ora felt “really insecure” when she was attacked by online trolls.
The ‘Let You Love Me’ hitmaker recalls how she felt “really down” when her music – which she refers to as her baby – was criticised online.
She told Harper’s Bazaar magazine: “I went through a phase where at the time I put out a song and people responded with ‘what is this?’ – it caused a lot of controversy and it made me question the power of the internet. Before that I only ever experienced one-off haters on pictures and things, but it never got under my skin. When it started to involve my music – which is my baby – I started to feel really insecure. It got me really down.”
Meanwhile, Rita previously confessed she is finally getting “very confident” in her skin.
Speaking about her naked photoshoot for Clash magazine, she said: “I’m very confident in my skin. It took me a while to get to this point in my life. When I was younger, I was very conscious about me having, like, curves and being, like, a woman – I was, like, the first to mature in my class and I just felt really, like, shy. Now I’m at a point where I feel like I’m very confident in myself. It was very liberating. I did it more for me than for anyone else. I just feel like when I get, like, a little older and stuff, I’m gonna look back at it and be like, ‘Wow, I like that I did that!'”

Ellen Pompeo’s husband doesn’t mind his bossiness

OHMYGOSSIP — Ellen Pompeo’s husband isn’t intimated by her “bossiness”.
The ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ star loves how her spouse Chris Ivery – who she tied the knot with in 2007 – doesn’t feel put out by her “drive” and ambition, even if sometimes she goes a bit too far.
She said: “My husband is not at all intimidated by my drive, or my bossiness. I never thought I’d be at the height of my career at 48-years-old. I’m at the top of my game, with no end in sight … I have a tendency to be a little bit bossy just because I’m juggling so many things. He’s really good about letting me know when I’m talking to him like an employee. Occasionally, I get told ‘I don’t work for you, don’t speak to me like that,’ which is okay. I need to hear it if I’m not coming correct.”
And the 48-year-old actress thinks her husband would “have a f***ing meltdown” if she asked him to do too much.
She added to People magazine: “My husband can’t multitask. That’s why I have an assistant, two nannies and two housekeepers. I’m lucky enough to be able to afford all this stuff. I don’t ask him to do it because he’d have a f***ing meltdown. The poor guy can only handle so much.”

Jenna Dewan kisses mystery man

OHMYGOSSIP — Jenna Dewan has been spotted kissing a mystery man.
The ‘Step Up’ star was seen smooching with a “super handsome man” at the Casamigos Halloween Party in Beverly Hills, California on Friday night (26.10.18).
A source told Us Weekly magazine: “He’s super handsome. She was introducing him to people in the group. They were dancing all night.”
It comes just hours after it was reported that Jenna has filed for divorce from Channing Tatum, who she announced her split from earlier this year.
In a joint statement, posted around six months ago, they said: “We have lovingly chosen to separate as a couple. We fell deeply in love so many years ago and have had a magical journey together. Absolutely nothing has changed about how much we love one another, but love is a beautiful adventure that is taking us on different paths for now. There are no secrets nor salacious events at the root of our decision — just two best-friends seeing it’s time to take some space and help each other live the most joyous, fulfilled lives as possible.”
Things are said to be great between Jenna and Channing and they are successfully co-parenting their five-year-old daughter Everly and are trying to make the split as easy as possible for her.
An insider added: “Everything has been really good between them … Nothing has really changed from when they were together. It hasn’t been a big adjustment for their daughter either, because not much has changed. Channing is a great dad when he is around. They co-parent and have the same goals for their daughter, which is they want her to know that she is very loved.”

Apu being written out of The Simpsons

OHMYGOSSIP — Apu Nahasapeemapetilon is being written out of ‘The Simpsons’.
The show has come under fire for making the Indian-American Kwik-E-Mart owner a racist caricature and whilst Matt Groening previously insisted he will still feature him in the animated series, it has now been confirmed that Apu will be written out.
Producer Adi Shankar told Indie Wire: “I’ve verified from multiple sources now – they’re going to drop the Apu character altogether. They aren’t going to make a big deal out of it, or anything like that, but they’ll drop him altogether just to avoid the controversy … If you are a show about cultural commentary and you are too afraid to comment on the culture, especially when it’s a component of the culture you had a hand in creating, then you are a show about cowardice. It’s not a step forward, or step backwards, it’s just a massive step sideways. After having read all these wonderful scripts, I feel like sidestepping this issue doesn’t solve it when the whole purpose of art, I would argue, is to bring us together.”
A debate was sparked about the depiction of the Kwik-E-Mart owner by comedian Hari Kondabolu’s 2017 documentary ‘The Problem with Apu’ – which featured commentary and opinion from Aziz Ansari, Whoopi Goldberg and Kal Penn among others – which discussed whether or not Apu had caused casual racism in the US and whether or not the fact that a white actor had voiced the Indian character was a form of brownface minstrelsy.

Ashley Roberts and Faye Tozer top Strictly Come Dancing leaderboard

OHMYGOSSIP — Ashley Roberts and Faye Tozer found themselves tied at the top of the ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ leaderboard as the Spooktacular returned to screens on Saturday (27.10.18).
The former Pussycat Dolls star and her professional partner Pasha Kovalev wowed with a Troll-themed Charleston to ‘Witch Doctor’ whilst Faye and Giovanni Pernice impressed a Theatre and Jazz routine to ‘Fever’, earning them 39 points each.
Bruno Tonioli said Ashley’s performance was one of the best moments of the whole series whilst Craig Revel Horwood dubbed it “swivelicious”, and Shirley Ballas was impressed with the choreography.
Following closely behind was Stacey Dooley and Kevin Clifton’s ‘Doctor Who’ inspired tango. Craig dubbed the performance as very strong whilst Darcey Bussell was impressed by the attack of the dance.
Meanwhile, three couples found themselves joint bottom of the table – Dr. Ranj Singh and Janette Manrara, Kate Silverton and Aljaž Skorjanec and Seann Walsh and Katya Jones.
Whilst Kate was mainly criticised by the four judges, Shirley felt her body needed more music whilst Bruno asked for more fluidity. Craig felt there needed to be more resistance and tone. Seann and Katya’s Viennese Waltz failed to impress and whilst the duo were praised for their choreography, their dance fell short of expectations.
Lauren Steadman and AJ Pritchard closed the show with a fiery Paso Doble, with the paralympian playing the part of the Evil Queen from ‘Snow White’.
‘Strictly Come Dancing’ returns on Sunday (28.10.18).

Ronnie Wood let go of fear after cancer diagnosis

OHMYGOSSIP — Ronnie Wood “let go immediately” when he found out he got lung cancer.
The Rolling Stones rocker was diagnosed with the disease in 2017 and says he “knew it was going to be there” but he is lucky to be “strong enough not to let it be anywhere else in his body”.
Asked if he was afraid, he told The Times magazine: “I let go immediately. I knew it was going to be there, because I smoked for England for 54 years. It was, ‘God, of course I’ve got cancer of the lung. But I haven’t got it anywhere else.’ I knew I was strong enough not to let it be anywhere else in my body.”
Ronnie’s lung cancer was found during a routine medical with the band’s doctor, Richard Dawood.
He said: “I’ve had a fight with a touch of lung cancer. There was a week when everything hung in the balance and it could have been curtains, time to say goodbye. [Dr Dawood] came back with the news that I had this supernova burning away on my left lung. And to be totally honest, I wasn’t surprised. I knew I hadn’t had a chest X-ray since I went into Cottonwood [a rehab clinic in Tucson, Arizona] in 2002. He asked me what I wanted to do and I said: ‘Just get it out of me.'”
Ronnie – who gave up smoking before his and Sally’s twin daughters Gracie and Alice were born – was relieved when the cancer had not spread and he was able to undergo an operation to remove the cancer.
He explained: “I made up my mind that if it had spread, I wasn’t going to go through chemo, I wasn’t going to use that bayonet in my body. It’s more I wasn’t going to lose my hair. This hair wasn’t going anywhere. A week later they came back with the news that it hadn’t spread and I said, ‘Let’s get it out now.'”

Prince Harry opens up about mental health

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince Harry has opened up about his own struggles with mental health.
The flame-haired royal – who is married to Duchess Meghan – made the admission as he spoke at the Invictus Games’ closing ceremony on Saturday (27.10.18) in Sydney, Australia.
He said: “Nowhere is that truer than in the area of mental health. By simply being here and fighting back from some of the darkest experiences known to anyone, you have become role models for everyone at home or in the stands who might be struggling with their emotions or with a mental illness … You are showing it’s okay not to be okay. And most importantly, you are showing us all that it’s okay to ask for help. I’ve been there, you’ve been there, and we now need to reach out to those who can never even imagine themselves in that place. When you accept a challenge is real, you can have hope. When you understand your vulnerability, you can become strong. When you are brave enough to ask for help, you can be lifted up. You can start living, doing, feeling – not simply surviving.”
And the 34-year-old royal praised the servicemen and women for bouncing back after all the struggles they have been through.
He added: “In a world where negativity is given too much of a platform, our Invictus competitors – many of whom have been given a second chance at life – are achieving extraordinary things. They get called heroes. They’re tagged as legends. They’re referred to as super-humans. Now, of course, all those things are true! Right? Well, I believe, that the real power of their example is that they are not superheroes. Sorry to break it to you guys! What they are achieving isn’t impossible nor is it magical. You have seen it happen before your very eyes because these competitors have made it happen. They are men and women who have confronted a challenge and overcome it. They are ordinary people doing extraordinary things … That is something we can all aspire to.”

Maggie Gyllenhaal calls for sex scene support for stars

OHMYGOSSIP — Maggie Gyllenhaal thinks it’s important to have someone on set to support actors during sex scenes.
The 40-year-old actress is an producer on her TV show ‘The Deuce’ – which chronicles the rise of the porn industry in 1970s New York – and hired ‘intimacy minders’ to ensure the cast felt as comfortable with bedroom filming as they would be when shooting action footage while surrounded by experts.
She said: “When you do a stunt and someone slaps you, someone else is there to make sure you’re physically safe, so why don’t we have that with sex scenes? I thought it would be good to have someone make the actor feel comfortable.”
And the intimacy minders are on hand for the cast to speak to about their feelings towards the scenes, as well as offer reassurance that they don’t have to go through shooting sexy footage if they don’t feel comfortable.
Speaking to Grazia magazine, she added: “[To have someone] phone them up the night before and ask if they’re OK. To say, ‘This is what we’re going to do tomorrow and this is what you agreed to, it’s in your contract but it’s OK if you change your mind.’ ”
Between the actor and their minder, they can create a ‘safe’ word to indicate when they stop feeling important during the scenes.
Maggie said: “They can arrange whatever feels right.”
And the ‘Secretary’ actress feels it is particularly important to allow young actors and actresses to feel comfortable with what they’ve been asked to shoot.
She said: “I can hold my own, I’ve done plenty of sex scenes. But if you’re young and nervous and you’ve never done it before, it can be scary.”

Lucy Boynton says sexual freedom is Bohemian Rhapsody’s key message

OHMYGOSSIP — Lucy Boynton thinks sexual freedom is ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’s key message.
The 24-year-old actress – who portrays Queen frontman Freddie Mercury’s partner Mary in the biographical drama – has claimed that her character’s relationship Freddie was “indefinable” and the movie shows the “transition throughout their relationship”.
Speaking to HeyUGuys, she said: “I think that’s the most beautiful thing about it and I keep using the word indefinable but how indefinable it is and how modern I suppose their attitudes were towards their relationship.
“I feel like we’re now in a headspace where everyone is trying to be somewhat open-minded and they’re finally waking up to the idea that sexuality doesn’t define you and is also a very fluid thing as are humans.
“I think the way Freddie and Mary handled – I mean from a third-party perspective – the kind of transition throughout their relationship was because of a foundation. A very solid foundation of love and respect that allowed them to be so open and pragmatic but I think we could learn a lot from that.”
Meanwhile, Rami Malek – who played the iconic musician – previously admitted that he felt “terrified” playing Freddie in the film.
He confessed: “Every part of me was terrified. But then, what are you going to do? It’s an opportunity of a lifetime. I couldn’t pass it up.”
Despite the pressure, Rami was determined to ensure that his on-screen performance was as natural as possible.
The actor actually made a conscious decision not to imitate the Queen star, who died in 1991 from bronchial pneumonia resulting from AIDS.
He said: “I was very cognisant of not wanting to imitate him or impersonate him at all.
“I started to think about how everything he did was spontaneous, in the moment. He is someone who lived every moment as if it was his last, I feel.”

Simon Cowell buys £15m home ‘near the Pope’

OHMYGOSSIP — Simon Cowell has reportedly bought a £15 million home near the Pope.
The 59-year-old music mogul – who has a four-year-old son called Eric with his long-term partner Lauren Silverman – has decided to acquire the seven-bed mansion in West London, close to the Pope’s official residence in the city.
A source told The Sun on Sunday newspaper: “He finds it hilarious that he might bump into Pope Francis.”
The ‘X Factor’ boss was eager to move from Central London, having previously been the victim of two break-ins.
And Lauren is apparently already eyeing up major renovations to their new property.
The insider shared: “Lauren has hired a team of interior designers to make it super-light, clean and minimalist.”
Simon was also eager to find a place away from flight paths amid concerns about air pollution.
Meanwhile, Simon previously admitted that fatherhood has transformed his outlook on life.
The TV star conceded that becoming a dad has forced him to reassess his priorities.
Speaking earlier this month, Simon shared: “My life is very different since he came along.
“It was my 59th birthday last week and it started with me taking Eric out cycling, with him dressed as an alien. Then I bought him yoghurt, watched him play in his hamster wheel on the grass, we had a swim and I taught him how to ride a quad bike.”
Despite the added responsibility of parenthood, Simon feels happier now than he has done for a long time.
He said: “Lauren was in New York seeing her son Adam, so I ended up getting sloshed with a friend of mine at Nobu in Malibu.
“And when I woke up the next day with a hangover, I thought about what a great day I’d had and how I do feel happier than I have done for a very long time.”

Brad Pitt ‘is unlikely to date another celebrity’

OHMYGOSSIP — Brad Pitt is reportedly unlikely to date another celebrity again in the near future.
The 54-year-old actor – whose divorce from fellow Hollywood star Angelina Jolie was made official in 2016 – has recently started dating again, but according to a source close to Brad, he’s eager to keep his love life low-key.
The insider explained: “I can’t see Brad dating someone super famous again, I can definitely see him dating someone with a lower profile.”
Brad – who has kids Maddox, 17, Pax, 14, Zahara, 13, Shiloh, 12, Vivienne, 10, and Knox, 10, with Angelina – was also previously married to Jennifer Aniston from 2000 until 2005.
But Brad’s immediate focus is on his kids and his career, rather than worrying about his love life.
The insider told the New York Post newspaper: “He’s focused on his children, his work and wanting to have some sense of normalcy. He’s dating casually but, for the foreseeable future, everything is about the kids.”
The source claimed that if Brad does decide to tie the knot for a third time, it’s likely to be a much more low-key marriage.
The insider said: “Brad comes from a very traditional family, he’s very close to his parents, Jane and Bill, and his brother and sister are both married with families. I could see him marrying again, but it will be a much more low-key relationship.”
Meanwhile, the world-famous actor previously revealed he’d given up alcohol and smoking marijuana in favor of cranberry juice and sparkling water.
Reflecting on the lifestyle change, Brad said: “I’ve got my feelings in my fingertips again.
“I think that’s part of the human challenge: you either deny them all of your life or you answer them and evolve.”

Rowan Atkinson says he’s not a ‘proper actor’

OHMYGOSSIP — Rowan Atkinson doesn’t consider himself to be a “proper actor”.
The 63-year-old star appears in ‘Johnny English Strikes Again’ alongside award-winning actress Emma Thompson – who plays the role of the UK Prime Minister – and Rowan thinks his co-star is “weirdly convincing” in the role.
He explained: “She brought a lot to the movie. I think she’s great. Actually, she’s a weirdly convincing Prime Minister.
“You can absolutely see her in the job. Maybe she should be in the job. Who’s to say?
“What’s good about Emma is that she’s what I call a proper actor, unlike me. I just fart about for a living, but she’s the real deal. She’s proper Oscar-winning performer.”
Rowan has known Emma, 59, for decades and he’s claimed that in spite of her reputation as a serious performer, she also has “comic genes”.
He told Collider: “I first knew her as a comic performer. That’s when I first saw her, when she was still a student at Cambridge University.
“Since then, she’s done more varied roles, but she’s got a real comic sensibility, which makes her great to perform within a movie like ‘Johnny English’. She can bring the credibility and play the part of the Prime Minister well, but at the same time, she can make the jokes work.
“She can say the line in a funny way, and she can make the scenes work and make Johnny English look funny, but that requires comic genes, and she’s definitely got them.”

Lauren Jauregui: I’ve been inspired by Lana Del Rey

OHMYGOSSIP — Lauren Jauregui feels inspired by Lana Del Rey.
The 22-year-old singer has revealed she is a long-time fan of the American star, admitting she “died” the first time she listened to one of Lana’s records.
Speaking to Teen Vogue magazine, Lauren shared: “Born to Die’ was the first song that I ever heard of Lana’s and I died.
“I was like, ‘Who is this b***h? I need to know more about her.’ So I looked up all her music and to this day I have her entire discography.
“My favourite lyric … is, ‘Don’t make me sad, don’t make me cry, sometimes love is not enough and the road gets tough, I don’t know why.'”
Lauren first found fame as part of the chart-topping girl group Fifth Harmony, but she has recently become a solo artist.
And Lauren has revealed that she’s been experimenting with different sounds ahead of releasing her first solo album.
She previously said: “I’ve just been kind of exploring. I’m letting it be as organic as possible.
“I’ve been writing a lot and just kind of exploring myself, and you know, with each song it kind of has a new life so sometimes I’m creating it from scratch. So it all depends.”
Lauren explained that although she’s been “gravitating” towards guitar sounds during her recording sessions, she’s still not sure what her solo album will sound like.
The singer explained: “I’m gravitating a lot towards guitar, more towards alternative mixed with R&B sounds, so it’s kind of like, in that realm. But I’m not really 100 percent set on any tone yet.”
