Janet Dibley ‘joins Coronation Street’

OHMYGOSSIP — Janet Dibley has joined ‘Coronation Street’.
The former ‘EastEnders’ actress – who played Phil Mitchell’s (Steve McFadden) former lover Lorna Cartwright in the BBC One soap in the late 90s – is set to appear on the cobbles as Weatherfield’s Bessie Street Primary head teacher Melinda.
A source told the Daily Star newspaper: “This is a coup for producers. Janet was a big favourite on ‘EastEnders’. But now she’ll be spicing things up at ‘Corrie’.”
Janet will be seen on our screens over the festive period as Melinda, who works alongside Brian Packham (Peter Gunn) on a Nativity.
A ‘Corrie’ spokeswoman revealed Janet will appear in seven episodes, but she is said to be keen for a lengthier stint on the soap.
This comes after the former ‘Doctors’ star made her ‘EastEnders’ debut in 1997 as alcoholic Lorna, who met Phil at his AA meetings and began an affair with him, despite the Walford hard-man being married to Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth) at the time.
After Phil broke up the affair, Lorna attempted to reignite their fling only for him to turn her down, and she tried to take her own life.
Fortunately, Phil stopped her, and she later admitted herself into a detox programme.
Janet returned to the soap for a brief spell in 2016 when Phil met her at an alcoholic support group which she was leading.
Despite initially departing the group upon seeing her, he eventually returned when she vowed to help him just as he helped her in the 90s.
As well as soaps, Janet has appeared in a number of Kay Mellor’s TV dramas, such as ‘Band of Gold’, ‘The Chase’, and popular Noughties series ‘Fat Friends’ alongside James Corden, Lisa Riley and Ruth Jones.

Bake Off winner Rahul Mandal left confused by Noel Fielding

OHMYGOSSIP — Rahul Mandal “didn’t always get” what Noel Fielding was “talking about” on ‘The Great British Bake Off’.
The 30-year-old research scientist triumphed on the Channel 4 baking show on Tuesday night (30.10.18), overcoming stiff competition from Kim-Joy and Ruby Bhogal, and he has thanked the show’s co-host for teaching him who ‘Star Wars’ character Luke Skywalker is and what a fist bump is.
He said: “I loved Noel’s sense of humour although I didn’t always get what he was talking about. But I now know who Luke Skywalker is and what a fist bump is.
“‘Bake Off’ has given me a new family, I felt I had a mum, dad, brother, sister, aunt, uncle, as everyone in the ‘Bake Off’ tent supported me in a weird and wonderful way.”
Rahul is also grateful to Noel’s fellow presenter Sandi Toksvig for calming him down in the final after his one of his glass storage containers smashed due to the heat in the tent, which left him feeling “broken”.
He said: “When the glass measuring jug shattered on the worktop I got such a shock because it came out of nowhere – I was busy making caramel, toasting hazelnuts and making my chocolate cake mixture.
“It broke into a thousand pieces and went into everything, so it all had to be chucked, it almost broke me and I really thought that was it for me. Fortunately I was able to prove that I could finish it.
“Sandi kissed me on the forehead and that helped calm me down. I used to call her Aunty Sandi.”
Rahul is now hoping his baking success will boost his confidence.
He added: “Winning ‘Bake Off’ is about the coolest thing that I have done in my life, and I hope it will help me gather some more confidence.
“I would like to say thank you to all of those who believed and trusted in me for all their lovely comments.”

Eddie Redmayne eyed for role in The Trial of the Chicago 7

OHMYGOSSIP — Eddie Redmayne is reportedly in talks to star in ‘The Trial of the Chicago 7’.
The 36-year-old actor has apparently held discussions with director Aaron Sorkin about a starring role in the film, which is based on the 1969 trial of seven defendants who were charged by the federal government with conspiracy.
The trial followed the counter-cultural protests in Chicago at the 1968 Democratic National Convention.
Redmayne is being eyed for the role of Tom Hayden, the co-founder of the Students for a Democratic Society, who attracted attention for his anti-war activism in the 1960s, according to Variety.
Sorkin is writing and directing the project and Sacha Baron Cohen has also held talks about appearing in the film.
Redmayne previously won an Oscar for his portrayal of Stephen Hawking in ‘The Theory of Everything’.
But the British star subsequently claimed that it was never an ambition of his to win one of the coveted gongs.
He said: “I know it sounds cliched, but the reason I got into acting is because I loved it as a kid.
“At school, I loved doing plays and I didn’t really know much about film. So, the weird thing for me in winning an Oscar was that it was never my aspiration in life.
“To me, the extraordinary thing was just getting to work every day – to keep acting – because it feels like it should be illegal to do the job you really love.
“My goal now is just to keep playing compelling and complicated characters.
“I’ve noticed that if actors are lucky enough to keep working, they never want to retire – other than Daniel Day Lewis. We just want to keep going because it’s so fulfilling.”

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is ‘beautiful’

OHMYGOSSIP — Quentin Tarantino’s ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’ is “beautiful”, according to cinematographer Robert Richardson.
The much-anticipated new movie boasts a star-studded cast that includes the likes of Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt and Margot Robbie, and Richardson has teased some details of the upcoming Tarantino film.
He told Collider: “It’s beautiful. To work with Leo together with Brad … It’s ‘Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid’, sort of the contemporary versions. These are two massive stars, and they’re so talented.
“Margot is also phenomenal and wonderful to be around. There are a number of people that you will see within the film that haven’t had as much exposure that are remarkable.
“We’ve got Dakota Fanning in the movie and she – phew, is she a powerhouse. It’s a great cast.”
Richardson added that the movie is difficult to define, although he described it as “very Quentin”.
He said: “I think the tone of it is – it’s difficult to describe because it’s very fresh, but it oscillates between humorous, serious, spooky; it’s playful.
“It’s not easily describable, but it’s very Quentin. Very, very, very Quentin.
“Of course Al Pacino was in it and you’ve got remarkable monologues, but you also have remarkable small set pieces. It’s going to be a tremendously unique film.”
Speaking previously about the project, Tarantino – whose past hits include ‘The Hateful Eight’ and ‘Django Unchained’ – shared: “It takes place during the 1969 Hollywood era at the height of the counterculture explosion, at the time of the hippie revolution.”

Ozzy Osbourne says Black Sabbath wasn’t ‘fun’

OHMYGOSSIP — Ozzy Osbourne wasn’t “allowed” to have fun in Black Sabbath.
The ‘Paranoid’ rock star has hit out at his band, and insisted guitarist Tony Iommi’s control meant he didn’t get the same joy out of performing that he does with his solo act.
He explained to Rolling Stone: “With Sabbath, all I am is a singer with a band. This is a different thing. I’ve got a lot of freedom and I have fun with it… It’s not allowed to have f***ing fun with Sabbath.
“It’s too serious. Tony was trying to have a go at me, saying, ‘Don’t f***ing talk over my solos.’
“I go, ‘OK, are you sure? ‘Cause most of the f***ing song is solos. The intro to the song is f***in’ five minutes and then I sing for about two seconds and then it’s another one.’ ”
However, as the frontman of his solo project, the 69-year-old star gets the chance to relax and “get the crowd going”.
He added: “With my own thing, I’m looking to have fun, and that’s what music’s about for me.
“I’m not a serious f***ing singer. I’m just a frontman who’s trying to get the crowd going in front.”
For now, Ozzy is off the road after cancelling tour dates due to a hand infection which meant he had to undergo surgery.
He’s already excited to get back on tour, and recently said: “I was really looking forward to doing the Hollywood Bowl. I’m going to make those shows up next year. It could have been a lot worse. I could have been dead.”
Now visiting a specialist once a week – initially it was three visits each week – Ozzy doesn’t expect to feel like his old self, but he revealed he is “well on the mend”.
He added: “To be honest with you, I didn’t feel that bad all along. I said to the doctor at one point, ‘When can I work out?’ He said, ‘You can do whatever you like, but I don’t advise you to for at least 10 days.’
“I tried working out for two minutes and I thought I was gonna f***in’ die, because the antibiotic knocks the wind out of your sails big-time. So I went, ‘You know what? I’ll let the doctor be the doctor and I’ll be the patient.’
“So now compared to what I was like, I feel about 85 to 90 percent better. So I’m well on the mend.”

Metallica have no plans to retire

OHMYGOSSIP — Metallica plan to keep going for at least 20 years.
The heavy metal legends have no desire to quit touring or making music like their peers Slayer – who are currently on their ‘Final World Tour’ – and are feeling more “energised and rejuvenated” than ever before.
Despite wanting to keep the band active, drummer Lars Ulrich, 54, admits he has “no idea” what Metallica will “sound or look like” further down the line.
The stickman told Philadelphia radio station 93.3 WMMR :”A lot of people are retiring, and we feel very energized and rejuvenated. I mean, we wanna go [a] long [time].
“We hope we can get another 20, 25 years out of Metallica. I don’t know what it’s gonna look like, I don’t know what it’s gonna sound like, but that’s in our heads.”
Insisting they are in it for the “long game”, he added: “We’re not sitting there thinking retirement or this or that; we’re sort of more the opposite. So I would say, for us, everything we do is kind of a long game.
“And back then, when you were 17, you only think of, like, the next five minutes. ‘Where is the next beer? Wooh!’ So that’s kind of different mentality nowadays.”
Metallica feel like they are in a new chapter of their career because they have a whole new younger fan base.
He said: “It’s crazy. It’s unbelievable. There’s more younger kids at our shows than I can ever remember.
“Half the audience is under 20. And it also feels more like it’s [a] 50-50 [split] between boys and girls now, which obviously [wasn’t the case] 20, 30 years ago.”
The ‘Enter Sandman’ rockers – completed by James Hetfield, Robert Trujillo and Kirk Hammett – will bring their ‘WorldWiredTour’ to Europe and the UK next summer.
The run includes stops at Manchester Etihad on June 18 and London Twickenham Stadium on June 20.

As reported by Variety, the movie – which is being presented to potential buyers at the American Film Market this year – will focus on the Kid as he emerges from prison and has to deal with a world marred by “corporate greed and eroding spiritual values”.
Although plot details are scarce to far, a press release revealed the film will be set in modern-day India, but will also deal with mythology.
As well as writing and acting in the movie, Patel has also co-wrote the script with Paul Angunawela and John Collee.

Deadpool 2 features brand new scenes

OHMYGOSSIP — The ‘Deadpool 2’ re-release will feature brand new scenes shot since the film first came out.
The team behind the comic book blockbuster – which stars Ryan Reynolds as the self aware, wise-cracking mercenary – are set to release a PG-13 edit of the film, but they haven’t been content with simply taking scenes out to make it appropriate for a younger audience.
Paul Wernick – who co-wrote the movie with Rhett Reese – told Slashfilm: “We definitely shot new stuff. And recently, too.
“After ‘Deadpool 2’ came out and we were all sitting around, we came to it less about the idea of let’s make a PG-13 movie and more, ‘Let’s talk a little bit about Deadpool.’
“We were kicking around some ideas and then I think it was Ryan [Reynolds] who had the great framing device and we all got excited and went to the studio. They said, ‘Yeah, let’s do it. Fire up the cameras.’ About two months ago we were out on sound stages shooting again.”
It wasn’t just a low-key re-shoot either, as the pair revealed that Reynolds donned the famous red suit for the re-shoots as they got the whole gang “back together”.
The duo were also keen to emphasise that the new cut and its rating doesn’t mean older fans of the movies will be alienated.
They also explained that they haven’t drastically changed the story, but rather chose to simply have fun with the plot.
‘Deadpool 2’ is set to be back on the big screen – in its new form – on December 21.

Halsey says new video is a ‘reminder’ of self worth

OHMYGOSSIP — Halsey’s new music video is “a reminder that you deserve more”.
The ‘Without Me’ hitmaker has unveiled the promo for her new single, which references her one/off relationship with G-Eazy and even features an actor lookalike playing him in the clip.
Writing about the video on Twitter, the star said: “he story is a reflection of a combination of relationships I’ve been in, or watched the people I love go through.
“It’s a reminder that you deserve more. And it’s okay to not want to be taken advantage of. By your partners, your friends, your family. You deserve happiness. Don’t be afraid of going and finding it.”
In the song itself, Halsey even references Justin Timberlake’s classic breakup song ‘Cry Me A River ‘ in her own lyrics.
At one point, in a nod to JT’s bitter 2002 hit – which features an almost identical line – she sings: “You don’t have to say just what you did. I already know, I had to go and find out from them.”
The release of the video comes after the couple recently called time on their romance again earlier this month.
Following news of the breakup, the ‘Closer’ singer took to social media to share a philosophical quote reminding herself to focus on her own happiness.
She tweeted: “reminder to self: happiness is not a replacement for misery. it’s an addition. pain will always be there. but that’s okay.
“u allow happiness to join as another option. so when the time comes, it’s there waiting, existing; a possibility for when you’re ready to choose …
“@ me: life is not pain vs happiness. one does not replace the other. they exist together. happiness doesn’t arrive as a replacement. it arrives to assist u in carrying the weight of the pain … @ me: now remember that u dummy (sic)”

Don shared the same photo and wrote: “Don & Paris at the Eiffel Tower (sic)”
Another photo of Don was captioned: “Happy boy [heart and French flag emojis] (sic)”
The ‘Catfish’ star – who has been accompanying Don on tour in Europe – also shared a video from the top of the iconic landmark.
She captioned the clip: “We went to the top Eiffel Tower tonight. I had the most amazing time. I will miss this so much. One of the best nights ever. [heart emoji] (sic)”
Paris has also changed her Twitter biography to reference her relationship with the ‘Vincent’ hitmaker.
It now reads: “In love with my dog, 60s music, my dog, & @donmcleanonline.(sic)”
The veteran musician split from Patrisha McLean in 2016 after 30 years of marriage shortly after he was arrested over allegations of domestic violence.
Patrisha’s lawyer, Gene Libby, said at the time: “After having time to reflect on her marriage, Patrisha decided that divorce is in her best interest, both physically and emotionally.
“Since Don McLean’s arrest for domestic violence assault, domestic terrorizing, domestic violence criminal threatening, criminal restraint and criminal mischief on January 18, 2016, Don has been prohibited from contacting her, and she has gained strength and insight away from his influence and control.”

BTS’ Suga: K-Pop is more than music

OHMYGOSSIP — BTS star Suga believes K-Pop incorporates more than just music.
The Korean singer insists the term transcends their songs and is more of a reflection of the entire culture that surrounds his group and also includes factors such as dance moves and outfits.
Speaking in a Q & A session at the Grammy Museum, he said: “I’m a little careful to talk about K-Pop as a genre because I don’t want to be defining K-Pop as a genre.
“I’m a little bit wary of that but I think rather than approach K-Pop as a genre, a better approach would be ‘integrated content.’
“K-pop includes not just the music, but the clothes, the make-up, the choreography…all these elements I think sort of amalgamate together in a visual and auditory content package, that I think sets it apart from other music or maybe other genres so again, as I said, rather than approach K-Pop as it’s own genre I think approaching it as this integration of different content would be better.”
Meanwhile, the ‘Run’ group recently admitted they are too busy to look for love and don’t think their schedules make them appealing boyfriends to have.
Suga said: “If you lived in our shoes, you’d quickly understand. We just don’t have any time. Like today. We’re going to finish in the early hours and start out again early in the morning.”
Jimin added: “We don’t have time to see our own families, to be honest. We don’t have a normal pattern of life. Even if we were to date, I don’t think that you could call it real dating.
“I don’t think anyone would want to date us.”

Keira Knightley is exhausted

OHMYGOSSIP — Keira Knightley is so sleep deprived, she can’t work out if she “hates” her husband.
The ‘Colette’ actress – who is married to Klaxons musician James Righton -admitted the regular wakings of three-year-old Edie have taken their toll on their family life.
She said: “[It got to the point] where it’s like, ‘Oh, nobody is sleeping in this house’, and you think, ‘Do we all hate each other, or are we actually completely sleep-deprived?’ ”
The 33-year-old actress took a year off work during her pregnancy, and when Edie was four months old, the family relocated to New York so Keira could tackle the title role in Broadway production ‘Therese Raquin’ but she admits she wouldn’t repeat the “quite mad” career decision again in the future.
She said: “I actually don’t know how we did that. If we have another one I wouldn’t say I’d do that again. It was quite mad.”
The ‘Nutcracker and the Four Realms’ actress was driven to keep working once Edie was born after taking inspiration from her own mother, screenwriter Sharman Macdonald.
She explained to the new issue of Britain’s Harper’s Bazaar magazine: “My mum always worked when I was small, and she’s always had a real thing about me continuing to work, and I think a lot of my sense of self came from me being so proud of her for working and having that ethic.”
And Keira felt it was “important” to retain her own “identity” through her career.
She said: “I think for my sense of identity, it was suddenly very important that I had that thing that was still me and mine.
“I’ve only been able to do it because I can afford the childcare, but I think that sense of identity is something that a lot of women really feel rocked by and work was a way for me to keep that.”
The ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ actress also believes motherhood has given her acting more freedom because she is no longer self-conscious.
She said: “There’s that sense of, like, I don’t give a f**k.
“Once you’ve had that whole experience of leaking breasts everywhere and the messiness of it -there’s no control, it’s animalistic. I feel that in a funny way with acting it sort of helps; there is no embarrassment any more.”

Nicole Kidman’s kids appear in Big Little Lies

OHMYGOSSIP — Nicole Kidman’s daughters have cameo roles in the new series of ‘Big Little Lies’.
The 51-year-old actress has been accompanied to the set of the drama – which she produces and also plays Celeste Wright – by 10-year-old Sunday and seven-year-old Faith, her kids with husband Keith Urban, and managed to get them in front of the camera.
She said: “They were in as extras in Big Little Lies, which I’ve never told anyone, and I’m not being a big mouth.”
The second series of the show will feature Meryl Streep and the screen legend didn’t even read the script before accepting the role of Nicole’s character’s mother-in-law.
Nicole told Ellen DeGeneres: “She was like, ‘I want to be in the coven.’ ”
Elsewhere on the show, the ‘Aquaman’ actress – who also has adult children Isabella and Connor with ex-husband Tom Cruise – spoke of the terrifying moment she and her family came face-to-face with a tarantula over the summer.
Nicole and Keith did their best to look brave in front of their kids, but were too scared to retrieve the jar they had trapped it in once they let it go outside.
She recalled: “My kids saw it and screamed, and I went out. Keith was giggling so I’m like, ‘Okay, I have to show that we’re strong.’
“It was so strong, that spider. I couldn’t believe the power. When I first put the glass over it, it tipped it over, and then I put it over again and caught it. But we did release it. We hiked down, the girls and I, and we released it into the brush.
“Well, we actually kind of threw the jar and ran. I was scared that it was going to be angry and might chase us. We gently threw it, and the kids were like, ‘What about the jar?!’ and I said, ‘Forget the jar! Don’t worry!’ ”
