George Harrison’s £2,000 bid for Ginger Baker’s daughter

OHMYGOSSIP — George Harrison offered to pay £2,000 for Cream’s Ginger Baker’s teenage daughter, she has claimed.
Ginette ‘Nettie’ Baker, now 57, has recalled how her famous father – who has been married four times and fathered three children; Ginette, Kofi and Leda – was allegedly offered the amount for his 15-year-old girl before playing pool at Eric Clapton’s Surrey mansion party in 1976 – but turned the late Beatles legend’s offer down.
Writing in her new tome, ‘Tales Of A Rock Star’s Daughter’, she revealed: “Later that evening he offered to pay my dad £2,000 for me and I nearly choked.
“People were laughing and I was thrilled to be the centre of attention — but that was because I was young.”
It’s not known whether or not the iconic sticksman – who died from lung cancer at the age of 58 in 2001 – was joking.
Clapton’s wild bash was also attended by the ‘Layla’ hitmaker’s former girlfriend Pattie Boyd – who was married to George from 1966 to 1977 – the ‘Here Comes The Sun’ drummer’s girlfriend at the time and Nettie’s mother Liz Finch, Ginger’s first wife.
In the tell-all book, Nettie also talks about how difficult it was growing up with a drug addict father and a mother with a mental disorder, who were constantly at one another’s throats, with the youngster often having to phone the police to break up their fights.
She writes: “It was never consistent parenting – you never knew whether they were going to be OK or go mental.”
Nettie was forced to leave school at the age of 15, after word of Ginger’s substance habit got around, and so she used to look after her father’s horses and prepare them for polo matches.
She also found herself at many showbiz parties and even rubbed noses with royalty.
Recalling her friendship with Prince Andrew’s ex-wife, Sarah, Duchess of York, she recalled in an extract of the book obtained by The Mail on Sunday newspaper: “Sarah (Ferguson) and I got on well – she always wanted to know what was happening at my house, while I dreamed of meeting a rich and handsome polo player to look after me. I was always looking for an escape.”

Jason Derulo wants marijuana legalised

OHMYGOSSIP — Jason Derulo wants marijuana to be legalised.
The ‘Swalla’ hitmaker says the psychoactive drug can be “really helpful” for those struggling with serious pain from pre-existing medical conditions, and he believes it should be decriminalised to help “subside” their suffering.
He said: “I think it’s really helpful in so many ways.
“I’ve watched people suffer and with marijuana, the suffering gets to be subsided a little bit.
“That’s from personal experiences.
“So for me, I know it’s a humongous help for people and I think it should be legalised.”
The 29-year-old star – who performed at the 2018 MTV European Music Awards (EMAs) at the Bilbao Exhibition Centre in Spain on Sunday night (04.11.18) – also spoke about taming his partying ways and how he’s very careful about the amount of alcohol he consumes, claiming he only has around three drinks each night when he’s on tour, to make sure his voice is the best it can be for his fans.
He added to The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “I do still party, it’s just how much I am drinking, I really pay attention to that, especially when I’m on the road and I have back-to-back shows.
“As a young artist I would get fatigued during these performances and I couldn’t realise why.
“Partying is fine as long as you’re not screaming during the night because that’s going to strain your voice, and not drinking too much. I’d say I have about three drinks on a night out.”
The ‘Tip Toe’ hitmaker follows in the footsteps of stars including rapper Snoop Dogg – who has his own line of cannabis products named Leafs By Snoop, which last year had a net worth of $135 million – and Hollywood stars Morgan Freeman and Woody Harrelson in campaigning for the drug to be legalised.

Julie Hesmondhalgh for Doctor Who’s Kerblam

OHMYGOSSIP — Julie Hesmondhalgh and Lee Mack are to appear in ‘Doctor Who’ episode ‘Kerblam!’
The BBC have confirmed that the former ‘Coronation Street’ actress and ‘Would I Lie to You?’ comedian will guest star in the upcoming episode, which will kick off when a mysterious message arrives in a package addressed to the titular Time Lord (Jodie Whittaker).
The seventh episode – which is written by Pete McTighe and directed by Jennifer Perrott – will see the Doctor, Graham O’Brien (Bradley Walsh), Yaz Khan (Mandip Gill) and Ryan Sinclair (Tosin Cole) investigate the warehouse moon orbiting Kandoka and the home of the galaxy’s largest retailer, Kerblam!
The BBC have also confirmed the eighth episode is called ‘The Witchfinders’, which will see the space and time travelling gang’s arrival in 17th century Lancashire, where they will be embroiled in a witch trial run by a local landowner.
The intense ep – which features the arrival of King James I – will lead the Doctor, Ryan, Graham and Yaz to discover that something even more dangerous is threatening the safety of the people of Bilehurst Cragg.
Downtown Abbey’s Siobhan Finneran and ‘Emma’ actor Alan Cumming will guest star in the gripping episode, which is written by Joy Wilkinson and directed Sallie Aprahamian.
Lee opened up about his own guest appearance earlier this year, admitting he “harassed” showrunner Chris Chibnall for a part in the show.
He said: “I am blink-and-you’ll-miss-it. It’s just a little thing. I’ve just been a fan all my life, so I just harassed them until they gave me a little part in it.
“I even sent Chris, who runs the show, Chris Chibnall, a video of me getting out of my own TARDIS, which I own. With a Dalek, which I own as well. And I said ‘Come on!’
“It’s genuinely a true story – I’ve got a TARDIS at home, it’s not bigger on the inside. And I said ‘Come on, give me a part.’
“And he said ‘Alright!’ So that’s what you need to do if you want a part in something. Just send a video to someone, you’ll get the part.”

Boy George slates modern pop music

OHMYGOSSIP — Boy George has slated the state of modern pop music.
The Culture Club singer insisted that contemporary songs in the charts don’t have the same sense of melody as some of the classics, and suggested “modern production” has ruined a lot of tracks.
Speaking to the Daily Star newspaper, he said: “We grew up in that era where people wrote melodic songs. When I was a kid I was listening to stuff from the fifties and sixties and seventies.
“A lot of modern production has big choruses now and studio trickery. When it comes on the radio I think, ‘This will be great when it finishes.’ ”
It comes after the 57-year-old singer revealed drummer Jon Moss, 61, is just “taking a break” from the ‘Karma Chameleon’ hitmakers because he wants to focus on his family.
He recently said: “At the moment he is taking a break. We went on a very gruelling tour last year and Jon said quite openly that he wanted to spend more time with his kids, he’s got great kids and he’s a great dad and that’s what he wants to do.
“As far as we are concerned, he is still part of Culture Club. There is always friction but no I didn’t sack him. There are actually four people in the band so I’m not the grand wizard, I can’t just fire people.
“It is [a democracy] now. With things like that, you can’t just turn around and tell people what to do. I tried that in the eighties and it was a disaster.”

Ronan Keating wants Victoria Beckham back with Spice Girls

OHMYGOSSIP — Ronan Keating says it’s a shame Victoria Beckham won’t reunite with the Spice Girls.
The ‘Wannabe’ girl group will announce their first tour in 10 years on Monday afternoon (05.11.18), and the Boyzone star has opened up about their reunion plans.
Speaking on Magic Breakfast, he said: “It will be great to see the girls back together. I have to say, it’s a shame Victoria isn’t coming back.
“It’s like [Brian McFadden] not coming back to Westlife, it’s like [Robbie Williams] not coming back to Take That. It’d be nice. But I get why everyone would want to do their own thing.
“Victoria’s a huge name now on her own, she doesn’t need it. So that’s why she’s not doing it.
“We need Victoria to be in the Spice Girls, because when you go to see them, you want to see them all – that’s the thing.”
His comments come after Emma Bunton confirmed she and her remaining bandmates – Mel C, Mel B and Geri Horner – will be putting details of their comeback on social media.
She told her Heart Radio breakfast show co-host Jamie Theakston: “It’s so exciting. Everything will be announced just after three o clock today on social media.
“You can go to @spicegirls but don’t look at me anymore because I might just blurt it all out.
“After 3 o’clock today you will find out everything. I just want it out there. It will be brilliant.”
It has been claimed the quartet – who won’t be joined in the reunion by fifth Spice Girl Victoria Beckham – will make their announcement in a social media video post that pokes fun at their group personas.
The tour is set to take place next summer and fans will be able to buy tickets in just a few days time.

Perrie Edwards’ fangirl moment

OHMYGOSSIP — Little Mix’s Perrie Edwards “couldn’t believe” she got to rest her head on Nicki Minaj’s bottom as the fivesome performed together at the MTV European Music Awards (EMAs).
The girl group took to the stage at the Bilbao Exhibition Centre, Spain on Sunday (04.11.18) evening to perform their hit ‘Woman Like Me’ and they were thrilled to be joined by the rapper – who features on the track – for the first time.
Speaking backstage at the awards ceremony, Perrie said she couldn’t believe she got to rest her head on Nicki’s famous derriere whilst her bandmate Jesy Nelson admitted she was “s***ing it” before they went on.
It has been a good night for the ‘Joan of Arc’ hitmakers as they picked up the Best UK & Ireland Act at the EMAs.
Speaking to Becca Dudley about the award, Jesy told the girl group’s fanbase – who affectionately call themselves Mixers: “You are the most incredible fans in the world, you already know that. We wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for you guys so this one is for you! We love you Mixers!”

Kym Marsh wishes she was busier at Coronation Street

OHMYGOSSIP — Kym Marsh wishes she was busier at ‘Coronation Street’ to take her mind off missing her boyfriend.
The 42-year-old actress admits it is “a shame” she has been quiet at work of late after her significant other Scott Ratcliffe went away with the army for two months, but Kym is going to keep herself busy by visiting family and friends.
She said: “I’m very quiet at work and that’s a shame as I’d rather be busy to take my mind off missing him. It’ll all be fine though as we’re in a good place – it’s just part of his life.
“He’s now away for two months with the army.
“At the time of writing, Scott’s only been gone for a couple of days, so I’m OK at the moment – ask me in a few weeks.
“I’m going to keep myself busy seeing family and friends.”
The ‘Corrie’ star is pleased she can at least stay in touch with Scott – in contrast to her granddad and grandma’s situation during World War II.
She said: “My granddad was away from my grandma actually fighting in World War II and they had no phones. At least we can stay in touch.”
The actress – who plays Michelle Connor in the ITV soap – may well use part of Scott’s two months away to visit her ‘Corrie’ co-star Jennie McAlpine (Fiz Stape) after she gave birth to her second child, Hilda, last week.
The birth led to fan speculation that the youngster was named after legendary ‘Coronation Street’ character Hilda Ogden, but Kym isn’t sure whether the little one’s moniker is because of Jean Alexander’s former alter-ego or not.
Writing in her OK! magazine column, she added: “I’m not sure if she named her after iconic ‘Corrie’ character Hilda Ogden or not, but it’s a cute name.
“I gave Jen a couple of days and then dropped her a text to wish her well – I can’t wait to meet baby Hilda.”

Adam Fogerty joins Coronation Street

OHMYGOSSIP — Adam Fogerty has joined ‘Coronation Street’.
The ‘Snatch’ star is said to have shot scenes on the ITV soap’s Salford set ahead of his screen role as a prison officer in the ITV soap, on which he played a hitman in 1995.
A show source said: “Adam has fitted in already. And because characters are always in and out of prison, it’s likely we’ll be seeing a fair amount of him on the show.”
Adam played boxer Gorgeous George in Guy Ritchie’s 2000 crime comedy movie, and he has starred in several hard-man film roles, such as Mouse in ‘Mean Machine’ and Big Pat in motion picture ‘Legend’, which was based on gangland twins Ronnie and Reggie Kray.
A TV insider added to the Daily Star Sunday newspaper: “Corrie’s producers are thrilled to have such an experienced actor joining the team. He has the perfect back catalogue to play a prison officer.”
As well as a previous Weatherfield role, Adam is no stranger to appearing in soaps after portraying Johnny Bishop in ‘Hollyoaks’ in 2009, and he then returned to the soap in 2017 for two episodes in another role.
He also starred as Syd Harrington in ‘Doctors’ in 2008, and as Jez Hudson in four episodes of ‘Emmerdale’ when it was still known ‘Emmerdale Farm’ in 1998.
This comes just a week after reports that Janet Dibley – who played Phil Mitchell’s (Steve McFadden) former lover Lorna Cartwright in ‘EastEnders’ – has been cast as Weatherfield’s Bessie Street Primary head teacher Melinda.
A source said: “This is a coup for producers. Janet was a big favourite on ‘EastEnders’. But now she’ll be spicing things up at ‘Corrie’.”

Hans Zimmer admits Rain Man changed his life

OHMYGOSSIP — Legendary film composer Hans Zimmer will be forever grateful to Barry Levinson for asking him to score the 1988 film ‘Rain Man’.
The 61-year-old German musician admits the call asking him to score the acclaimed 1988 comedy-drama movie starring Tom Cruise and Dustin Hoffman – who won the Best Actor Oscar for his portrayal of Raymond Babbitt who is an autistic savant – was the moment his career changed forever.
Zimmer won the Best Original Screenplay Academy Award for his music for ‘Rain Man’ – which also won the prestigious Best Picture Oscar in 1989 – and he was then asked to compose the score for Bruce Beresford’s ‘Driving Miss Daisy’, which also went on to be a Best Picture Academy Award winner, and from then his reputation was established.
When asked if the ‘Rain Man’ job was a life-changing moment, he said: “Totally. Completely. [It was] THE CALL – this is all in capital letters.”
Zimmer has worked with numerous directors over the course of his career, most recently penning the music for Steve McQueen’s new heist thriller ‘Widows’.
He has collaborated with Christopher Nolan on several occasions and he enjoys working with the director the most because he gives him “intellectual challenges”.
Zimmer said: “He knows I get bored easily. So he sets up certain intellectual challenges for me, things which are nearly impossible to solve, and all the music gets written before he makes the movie. Because he knows I have a good memory and I can keep a shot list in my head like nobody’s business. So we can play this game.”
The composer worked with Nolan on his 2014 sci-fi movie ‘Interstellar’, which starred Sir Michael Caine as a NASA physicist who wants to save mankind from a dying Earth, and admits he felt “vulnerable” when he first played the soundtrack to the filmmaker.
Zimmer added: “Chris comes by. I can’t look at anybody when I play them something for the first time because it’s the only time I get really vulnerable. I just play him the thing and I turn around and go ‘Well, what do you think?’ He pauses for a moment and goes, ‘I suppose I’d better make the movie.’ ”

Calum Worthy struggled with rap battle in Bodied

OHMYGOSSIP — Calum Worthy knew he had to get his “rap battle” sequence right in ‘Bodied’ because “Eminem’s name is attached to it”.
The 27-year-old Canadian actor has revealed that director Joseph Kahn told him he was the worst rapper he’d ever heard when he attended his audition for the role of Adam Merkin, however, the former Disney star was determined to practise spitting lyrics and get his scenes right because hip hop legend Eminem – who learnt his craft in rap battles – was one of the producers on the project.
Speaking to Collider, Calum said: “They’re some of the best battle rappers in the world. I knew about these guys before filming the movie. And Eminem’s name is attached to it, so you have to pull it off. I was like, ‘I really hope that I can do this.’
“However, I can’t take credit for any of the sequences going well. It’s really because of the other battle rappers that walked me through that process and spent hours teaching me how to go through every element of a battle.”
‘Bodied’ follows college student Adam who gets embroiled in tense race relations on campus when he writes a controversial thesis on the rap battle scene.
Worthy – who recently starred in the Netflix true crime series ‘American Vandal’ – was worried that portraying the controversial role of Adam would be a “risk” for him.
He said: “I was nervous about tackling the subject matter. I was nervous about making sure that I could do the world of battle rap justice, and the character of Adam justice, as well. In order for Adam to work, you need the audience to question whether he’s a hero or a villain, and that’s a really fine line to walk. The script served that, but I wanted to make sure that I was able to serve that. The other thing I was worried about was that I was just coming out of a Disney Channel show, and I knew that this film could alienate a portion of my audience.
“However, the artists I look up to take risks, and don’t play it safe, but I want to continue to tell stories that I believe in, and this is one I really believe in. The way that I got past it was because of Joseph. I trust him. He really is a visionary director, and I knew that, in his hands, we’d be safe.”
‘Bodied’ also stars Charlamagne tha God, Debra Messing Jackie Long, Shoniqua Shondai and Walter Perez among others.

Andrea Bocelli and Beverley Knight duet on Time To Say Goodbye

OHMYGOSSIP — Andrea Bocelli wowed fans as he performed a duet of the classic ‘Time To Say Goodbye’ with Beverley Knight at The O2 arena in London on Saturday night (03.11.18).
The Italian tenor was joined on stage by the British soul singer and stage star and Korean soprano Sumi Jo as they belted out the track accompanied by a full orchestra and choir.
The hit song, ‘Con te partirò’ in Italian, became a hit in 1996, when Andrea released a version partly in English and Italian with soprano Sarah Brightman.
The evening also saw the 60-year-old star celebrate his latest LP, ‘Si’, reaching number one in the UK, with a performance of his new song, ‘Fall On Me’ – the soundtrack to Disney’s ‘The Nutcracker and the Four Realms’ – with his 19-year-old son Matteo.
Andrea joked that it was “difficult” having a son who wants to be a musician, whilst Matteo himself thanked the crowd – which saw many Italians in attendance – for helping their album top the charts.
Before performing ‘If Only’ – which usually features pop megastar Dua Lipa – Andrea humbly told the audience that though they “won’t have heard” of the song, they know the people who wrote it, as it’s by ‘Time To Say Goodbye’ composer Luciano Quarantotto and songwriter Lucio Quarantotto.
Following ‘Si’ reaching number one in the UK, Andrea – who performed at Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank’s wedding at Windsor Castle last month – is celebrating his first record reaching the top of the Billboard 200 chart in the US.
After concerts in London and Dublin, Ireland, the world class tenor brings his magnificent show to the US, kicking off in Salt Lake City in Utah on November 29, before returning to Europe in March, 2019.

Mel B confirms Spice Girls tour

OHMYGOSSIP — Mel B has confirmed the Spice Girls are going on tour.
The 44-year-old singer has spoken out before an official announcement is made on Monday (05.11.18) afternoon to reveal fans will get the chance to snap up tickets on Friday (09.11.18) to see her, Geri Horner, Emma Bunton and Mel C perform live next year.
Asked if they are heading back on tour, she said: “Yeah we are. Very exciting.
“[We’ve known for] like five, six months now, it’s all, the wheels are in motion, tickets go on sale on Friday.
“Pressure is on now, hopefully you’re going to buy some tickets.”
Victoria Beckham has opted not to join the tour but Mel is still hopeful she’ll make an appearance on the tour at some point.
Speaking on UK TV show ‘Loose Women’, she said: “It’s just the four of us, but she might join us at some point. I hope so. I think it would be a shame if she didn’t.
“I don’t know why [she said no]. She’s got a full on life with her commitments and the fashion line and her kids so she’s not committing just yet. I’m hoping it’ll change.”
The ‘Wannabe’ hitmakers went on hiatus in 2000 and reunited in 2007, but their world tour was cut short and a number of proposed legs were axed.
And Mel has now admitted she was the one who pulled the plug on the tour because of difficulties in her marriage to now ex-husband Stephen Belafonte.
She said: “I wasn’t in a very good space with my marriage and I didn’t feel I could go on any more, living in this fake world with my marriage, so I said I can’t go on.
“I don’t think anyone knows that publicly but I don’t mind taking the blame, it was my fault so I was determined to get us back together and I’m still determined it will be five at one point.”
Though the group will unveil UK tour dates in a few hours time, Mel admitted they are hoping to take the shows global.
Asked if they’ll go outside of the UK, she said: “We are. I’m in trouble again. I didn’t like to say that, but we’ll go everywhere else in the world, but right now it’s just in the UK.”
While the ‘Viva Forever’ singer is confident the tour will be well-received, she admitted some of her bandmates were more cautious.
She said: “We did have this conversation and a few of us were like ‘Is it gonna sell?’ I’ve got an inflated ego and I was like ‘of course it’s gonna sell’.”

Zoe Kravitz compliments Nicole Kidman’s parenting

OHMYGOSSIP — Zoe Kravitz has heaped praise on Nicole Kidman’s parenting skills.
The 51-year-old actress’ 10-year-old daughter Sunday and seven-year-old Faith, her kids with husband Keith Urban, make cameo appearances in the new series of ‘Big Little Lies’, and Nicole’s co-star has complimented her for bringing up two “really really smart” kids.
She said of her time on set with the girls: “Yeah, they’re around a lot and I sometimes can’t tell when they’re actually in a scene or just hanging out.
“But they’re so sweet and really really smart. You can tell they were raised by Nicole Kidman.”
Zoe’s father Lenny Kravitz, 54, was married to Nicole – who also has grown-up children, Connor and Isabella Cruise, 23 and 25 respectively, with ex-husband Tom Cruise – and Zoe said that she believes they are “meant” to be in “each other’s lives”.
She told ‘Entertainment Tonight’: “I mean obviously me and Nicole are meant to be in each other’s lives in one way or another.
“So, I’ll take it however it comes.”
Though the 29-year-old actress didn’t give away any details of what to expect from the second instalment of the award-winning HBO series, she did tease that: “It’s going to be really juicy, that’s all I can tell you.”
Speaking about getting her children on camera, Nicole – who plays Celeste Wright – said recently: “They were in as extras in Big Little Lies, which I’ve never told anyone, and I’m not being a big mouth.”
The second series of the show will feature Meryl Streep and the screen legend didn’t even read the script before accepting the role of Nicole’s character’s mother-in-law.
Nicole said: “She was like, ‘I want to be in the coven.'”
Zoe’s praise for Nicole’s girls comes after the show’s producer admitted she has been “giving up things” she wants for her children.
She said: “The thing you really have to learn when you have children and a career – and particularly when you’re an older mother – is the preciousness of time; and therefore trying to balance everything and be willing to say no to things. I want to be a good wife and a good mother, so that requires giving up things I want sometimes.”

Drake mourns death of young fan

OHMYGOSSIP — Drake is mourning the death of a fan who has sadly passed away.
The 32-year-old Canadian rap superstar was introduced to Kay through the Make A Wish Foundation – which helps young people suffering from critical conditions – and was reduced to tears when he made a special visit to meet the youngster, whose illness is unknown, in hospital.
On hearing Kay had died, the ‘In My Feelings’ hitmaker took to Instagram to share the picture of him sat by her bedside, wiping his eyes with a tissue after he and her father prayed for her.
The ‘Hotline Bling’ hitmaker said he had a “genuine bond” with Kay and was “sorry” that he missed her text message wishing him a happy birthday.
Alongside the photo, he wrote on Sunday (04.11.18): “Gonna miss you a whole lot. We met through make a wish and we built a genuine bond you would text me and check on me while I was on tour and tell me positive things and share your dreams and goals. I am crying in this pic but it was tears of joy cause we just prayed for you with your father. I am sorry I missed your text on my birthday that’s eating my soul right now but you know how much I loved you and was looking forward to seeing you after tour. I don’t know why I am writing this on IG I just need to get it out cause it’s sitting heavy on my heart. Will remember you forever K! @the.kaydiaries (sic)”
In August, Drake surprised an 11-year-old heart transplant patient with a special visit.
The hip-hop star skipped the MTV VMAs at New York’s Radio City Music Hall so he could go to the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital in Chicago, where he met super-fan Sofia Sanchez.
The young girl had participated in the “In My Feelings Challenge” that swept across the Internet recently – in which people completed a choreographed dance to Drake’s track of the same name – which the rapper had seen and decided to drop by the hospital to say hi.
In a video posted to the hospital’s official Facebook page, Drake told a surprised Sofia: “You asked me to come, and I’m here. I’m so happy I got to see you.”
Sofia was left speechless, and later recalled: “I didn’t talk for a minute. I was like, ‘What? Is this real or fake?’ And he was like, ‘It’s me, Drake.'”
The visit was made extra special for Sofia as she had celebrated her 11th birthday just days before.
She added: “This is the best birthday I ever had. He got to sing me ‘God’s Plan’. I gave him my autograph, and he gave me his.”
The ‘Hotline Bling’ hitmaker also posted pictures of his time at the hospital on Instagram.
One snap of himself with Sofia was captioned: “Me and my love Sofia talking about Bieber and Owls and Basketball.”
