Dido reveals how she got her mojo back after becoming a umm

OHMYGOSSIP — Dido has finally got her music mojo back after becoming a mother.
The 46-year-old singer – who will release her first new album in five years in March – gave birth to Stanley seven years ago, and she has revealed how she found the spark again after a period of writer’s block.
She told the Daily Star newspaper: “One day I thought: ‘I’m going to write a song about having a kid then put it to one side, get that out of my system, done.’
“I’m really proud of it, it came out very naturally and it’s just a little song about what it feels like for me to love someone in that way.
“Then at that moment the floodgates opened, suddenly the world became full of songs again.”
The burst of creativity – which will culminate with the new album ‘Still On My Mind’ being released next year – came after Dido struggled to connect with any of her material for a while.
She explained: “After I had my son if I’m honest everything I wrote for a few years after that was rubbish.
“I write about conflict and little moments of light and dark; but there was no conflict. I just loved him and there was nothing to say about that.”
Meanwhile, the ‘White Flag’ hitmaker will be back on the road in 2019 for her first UK tour in 15 years with a run of dates to support the new LP.
Dido’s 1999 album ‘No Angel’ sold over 21 million copies worldwide and the first single, ‘Here With Me’, broke the charts when it was used as the theme to the hit teen series ‘Roswell’ and then in the iconic Christmas movie ‘Love Actually’.
However, it was the track ‘Thank You’ that brought her worldwide success when Eminem heard it and asked for her permission to sample it on ‘Stan’.
The pair also hit it off as friends and she appeared in the music video as Stan’s pregnant girlfriend.
Her follow up 2003 album, ‘Life For Rent’, produced the hits ‘White Flag’ and ‘Life For Rent’.
Dido’s third album ‘Safe Trip Home’ was released in November 2008 and her fourth, ‘Girl Who Got Away’, in 2013.

Chiwetel Ejiofor’s The Boy Who Harnessed The Wind to premiere on Netflix

OHMYGOSSIP — Chiwetel Ejiofor’s directorial debut ‘The Boy Who Harnessed The Wind’ will premiere on Netflix.
The streaming service has picked up the global rights to the British movie – which is based on the book of the same name by William Kamkwamba and Bryan Mealer – which tells the story of a boy in Malawi who cannot afford to go to school but has a dream of building a windmill to feed the starving people in his village.
Ejiofor also stars in the film along with Maxwell Simba and it is set to launch on Netflix in 2019 and in select cinemas in the US and UK.
Confirming the Netflix deal – which was negotiated with Participant Media – Ejiofor said: “William’s story represents, what has to be, the future in countries like Malawi: developing countries, overflowing with beauty and harboring enormous potential. A global story, such as this, requires a global platform and I’m thrilled to be working with Netflix on bringing William’s extraordinary tale of determination and inventiveness to audiences worldwide.”
Jonathan King, President of Film and Television for Participant Media, added: “Chiwetel brings incredible passion and skill as a filmmaker to this moving and impactful story about a young boy who uses his heart and mind equally to help better his community. We need this kind of story now more than ever, and we’re excited to continue the partnership with Netflix that started with ‘Beasts of No Nation’ and continued with ROMA to bring this new film to audiences around the world.”

Margot Robbie’s gruelling Mary Queen of Scots makeover

OHMYGOSSIP — Margot Robbie’s transformation for ‘Mary Queen of Scots’ took over three hours every day.
The 28-year-old actress plays Queen Elizabeth I in the upcoming period drama based on the rivalry between Elizabeth and her cousin Mary Stuart – portrayed by Saoirse Ronan – and to become the late British monarch Margot had to undergo a rigorous makeover each day including several different wigs and prosthetic scarring on her face.
In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, she said: “They’d start with a head wrap, gelling and pinning my hair down. Then we’d do a bald cap.
“Surprisingly, the quick part was the white makeup, and the heavily drawn-on blush, eyebrows, lips.”
Although the ‘Wolf of Wall Street’ star loved the complex role, she felt isolated when in costume because her castmates could barely look her in the eye once she’s was in character.
She said: “I’d say, ‘Hey, how’s your weekend?’ But they wouldn’t even get close to me. It was very alienating. And I felt very lonely. It was an interesting social experiment.”
During filming, Margot and Saoirse, 24, were deliberately kept apart, because director Josie Rourke wanted to create on-screen tension between the duo in a climactic seven-minute scene.
Josie explained: “Working with Margot and Saoirse – we worked with them differently than I would do in the theatre. We kept them apart when they were doing that scene together. They only meet once in the film so the film drives towards this climactic scene. When they look each other in the eye during that scene, they’re looking at each other as those characters for the first time and we managed to capture that on film in the most extraordinary way.”

Ben Hardy ‘turns to dating app to find love’

OHMYGOSSIP — Ben Hardy has reportedly turned to dating app Bumble to find love.
The ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ star – who portrays Queen’s drummer Roger Taylor in the blockbuster musical – is single again after splitting from his long-time girlfriend Katriona Perret after nine years together.
The 27-year-old actor is believed to have used a topless snap of himself with his dog Frankie on his profile, in a bid to woo the ladies on the app.
An insider told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “Ben had been with Katriona for almost a decade so coming out of that relationship has been difficult.
“But now he is getting back out there and has downloaded Bumble to meet new people.
“He could have his pick of glamorous women but he doesn’t big himself up as an actor on his profile.
“But obviously some girls have been surprised to find a major Hollywood actor on there.”
Meanwhile Ben – who started out his career portraying Peter Beale on UK soap ‘EastEnders’ – previously admitted that despite being comfortable with flashing the flesh on screen, he doesn’t want to only be known for his ripped physique.
The ‘Only The Brave’ star’s first Hollywood movie – which starred the likes of Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy and Olivia Munn – required him to undress for the part of mutant Archangel.
He said: “I don’t regret being topless in certain things … but I try not to be topless anymore because I don’t want that to be my thing.”
The attention he has received since finding fame has not always had a positive effect and the star has looked online to find “horrible” things people have said about him when he’s feeling down.
He said: “Sometimes if I’m in a bad mood I deliberately find horrible things people have said about me online to make myself feel worse.”
He even admitted he would even shut himself indoors to avoid the public eye.
He added: “I didn’t realise the impact it would have on my life. For a while I didn’t want to leave the house.”

Dave Grohl serves up BBQ to wildfire firefighters

OHMYGOSSIP — Dave Grohl served up delicious treats from his own BBQ company to some of the firefighters battling the California wildfires.
The Foo Fighters frontman recently launched Backbeat BBQ and paid a visit to one of the Los Angeles Fire Department’s stations on Monday (12.11.18), to feed some of the 8,000 firefighters who have been tackling the devastating blaze, which has claimed 42 lives so far and destroyed thousands of homes.
Sharing a series of pictures of himself with some of the team in front of a fire engine and with children from the area on his band’s Instagram, the ‘All My Life’ hitmaker wrote: “To all the Los Angeles Fire Department and Los Angeles County Fire Department heroes we met last night … Thank you. It was an honor to cook for you#backbeatbbq (sic)”
The Los Angeles County Fire Station 68 also shared the post on their profile, adding: “Thanks Dave! It was excellent!”
The 49-year-old rocker joins the likes of Gerard Butler and Lady Gaga in offering support and relief during the deadly fires.
Gerard’s Malibu home was damaged in the blaze, but he’s been doing what he can to help others.
He said: “I’m OK, I just came from my property and it could’ve been worse. A lot of it’s damage, but to be honest I feel bad for … so many communities here that are trailer parks, suburban working class houses that are completely destroyed.
“People have lost everything, and we have some of them staying at our house right now. It’s just really sad, you know, because people give their lives to get to a place like this. I’ve lost a lot of belongings, but I haven’t lost everything.”
Whilst the ‘A Star Is Born’ actress volunteered at a pop-up shelter.
The 32-year-old singer was forced to leave her Malibu property last week, and just days later, she was seen stopping by the makeshift Red Cross shelter at the Pacific Palisades High School on to offer support to the volunteers and evacuees there.
The ‘Million Reasons’ hitmaker spent 90 minutes in the shelter, where she handed out gift cards, posed for photos, and sang to a 98-year-old woman in order to bolster her spirits.
She told those at the shelter: “I extend my love. I know we do not know each other, but I love you. This is an emergency, but you are not alone.”
Miley Cyrus, Robin Thicke and Neil Young are among those who have lost their homes.

Jaime King’s son wants to marry Cardi B

OHMYGOSSIP — Jaime King’s young son wants to marry Cardi B.
The ‘Hart of Dixie’ actress shared a video of five-year-old James – whom she has with husband Kyle Newman – declaring his love for the ‘Bodak Yellow’ hitmaker as he sported a pair of designer shades, and also revealed he keeps asking when they are going on a “play date”.
Alongside the adorable Instagram clip, Jaime – who also has three-year-old son Leo with her spouse – wrote: “A love message to James Knight’s queen @iamcardib and he keeps asking for a play date #forealtho said these are Cardi B sunnies… thanks Miu Miu and Ms Prada #nyc (sic)”
In the video, Jaime asks: “What do you want to say to Cardi B?, to which he replies: “I love youuu! (sic)”, before creating the heart gesture with his hands.
And when asked what else he wants to say to the 26-year-old rapper, he added: “I wanna marry you.”
The 39-year-old star’s little boy wouldn’t be the first young celebrity offspring to profess their love for a pop star.
Earlier this year, Kelly Clarkson’s four-year-old daughter River Rose shared in a similar video how she wants to marry Coldplay’s Chris Martin.
The ‘Because of You’ hitmaker’s little girl – whom she has with husband Brandon Blackstock – confessed her crush on the British singer, whilst admitting she would love to “kiss” the 41-year-old star because he’s “beautiful”.
In the clip, River giggled: “Chris Martin, I like him.
“He’s beautiful and I like his song and I want to kiss him.”
The 36-year-old singer – who also has two-year-old son Remington with the music manager – then got the tot to sing her favourite song by Coldplay, their 2000 single ‘Yellow’, and she sweetly pronounced the titular colour as “lello”.
Kelly asked her: “What’s the song that you love, can you sing it?”, to which River replied: “I can’t sing the whole thing.”
Encouraged by her mother, she then sang: “Look at the stars and how they shine for you and everything they do and they are all lello (sic)”
She then carried on repeating the first line.
The ‘Piece by Piece’ hitmaker revealed she broke the news to her daughter that she can’t marry the ‘Viva La Vida’ singer as he is dating Dakota Johnson and has children two children, Apple, 14, and Moses, 12, with ex-wife Gwyneth Paltrow.
She wrote alongside the clip: “So my daughter wants to marry Chris Martin and is obsessed with his song Yellow. She wants to marry the boy in the video, which I have informed her he is not a boy anymore and has kids older than her but she will have none of it, she is determined #RiverRose #Yellow #Lello (sic)”

Susanna Reid misses sinking shots

OHMYGOSSIP — Susanna Reid “really misses” downing shots.
The 47-year-old TV presenter has cut alcohol out of her diet, but she misses the social aspect of drinking, especially sinking shooters with her pals.
Speaking on the ‘Is It Just Me?’ podcast, the ‘Good Morning Britain’ co-host said: “When you cut alcohol out that is an easy couple of pounds.
“As you get older your memory is affected. I just thought, ‘Alcohol is not great for your memory’.
“I really miss it. When you are in a big social group and the shots come out, I miss letting my hair down.”
Susanna took action after a doctor warned her that her BMI was too high, and she first admitted she was not drinking alcohol in September.
This comes after the former ‘BBC Breakfast’ presenter showed off a bandaged finger on ‘GMB’ on Monday (12.11.18), after getting an infection from a nasty burn.
She said: “Do you admire me for my resilience this morning?
“I burnt myself on the toaster and then I got a really massive blister.
“I thought, shall I pop the blister or not? I did and now it’s infected.”
Susanna asked her co-host Piers Morgan for praise for turning up to work and wanted sympathy for the painful injury.
She said: “Come on, you’ve got to praise me for dragging myself into work this morning despite the fact I’m injured.”
The 53-year-old journalist said that it was a “friction burn” from a busy weekend.
He replied: “You were working all weekend and now you’ve got a friction burn from all your hard work.”

Jack Ryder joins Holby City

OHMYGOSSIP — Jack Ryder has joined the cast of ‘Holby City’.
The former ‘EastEnders’ actor and Amy Lennox have signed up to the medical drama as Evan and his on/off girlfriend Chloe Godard, and the 37-year-old star can’t wait to appear on the show.
Jack – who starred as Sean Wells in a 2012 episode of ‘Holby’ – said: “I am delighted to be joining ‘Holby City’ and look forward to working with such a talented group of people.
“I can’t wait to give a voice to this exciting new character and serve a show that people love.”
Jack’s alter-ego Evan will arrive at Holby in an attempt to convince Chloe – who is the daughter of Ange (Dawn Steele) – to take their relationship seriously.
Amy added: “I’m thrilled to be joining ‘Holby’ as Chloe Godard and working with such an amazing cast and crew over at BBC Elstree.
“Chloe has some really great storylines coming up that I can’t wait to share with you all. So excited.”
Jack has been in talks about the part “for a while”, and Simon Harper, executive producer of ‘Holby City’ and ‘Casualty’, has teased the medical drama’s fans that they are in for “a big treat” when he joins the show.
He added: “We’ve been talking to Jack for a while to find the right part for him on ‘Holby’ and his powerful, nuanced audition for Evan blew us away.
“He’s both a household name and a superb actor, and fans who remember him as Jamie in ‘EastEnders’ are in for a big treat and quite a surprise seeing him in this very different role.
“Evan is a complex, alpha surgeon who makes some major waves in Holby.”
Jack’s latest TV role was just two years ago when he appeared as Gareth in drama series ‘In the Club’, and prior to that, he starred in ‘Holby’, and ‘The Hollow Crown’.
But he is still best known for starring as Jamie Mitchell in ‘EastEnders’ from 1998 to 2002.
Jamie appeared in Albert Square as the nephew of Billy Mitchell (Perry Fenwick) who used to beat him, resulting in him being taken in by his godfather Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden).
However, Jamie’s life didn’t improve under Phil’s guardianship and the Walford hard-man later started beating his godson, too.
Jamie got engaged to Sonia Fowler (Natalie Cassidy) but he met a sticky end when he was run over by Martin Fowler – who was played by James Alexandrou at the time – and died in hospital on Christmas Day 2002 of spleen damage.

Peter Kay and Sian Gibson working on new show

OHMYGOSSIP — Peter Kay and Sian Gibson are working on a new TV show.
The two comics ended their popular programme ‘Car Share’ earlier this year but disappointed fans will be able to console themselves with the fact the duo have already been meeting to discuss a new mystery project.
Sian told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre TV column: I was with Peter the other day and we have got something in the pipeline. There are things to think about.”
‘Car Share’ originally ended last year when Sian’s character Kayleigh walked out on Peter’s John, prompting upset fans to organise a petition for another ending, which was signed by over 100,000 people.
As a result, two more episodes were broadcast this year, ending with the duo driving off together in a bus and Sian admitted she liked the updated finale.
She said: “That was the final, final one. I liked the conclusion because they got a happy ending.”
Peter previously admitted he was shocked when the petition was created and admitted it was “incredibly flattering” to see the support for the show – while Sian confessed she’d put her name to the letter more than once.
He said: “You’d never believe that it’d ever have that kind of effect. A petition.”
Sian added: “Yes, that was crazy. I signed it … twice.”
Peter said: “That is incredibly flattering. We always knew the second series would end that way and we thought people might be a bit miffed but never thought they would be so devastated.
“We decided to write another episode that hopefully gave the characters a resolve and I thought lets hold this back until the repeat of the second series.
“It was hard to keep it a secret after the reaction we got, but we never said that there wouldn’t be any more ‘Car Share’ … we just said there wouldn’t be a third series.”

Jourdan Dunn loves watching Hollyoaks

OHMYGOSSIP — Jourdan Dunn loves watching ‘Hollyoaks’.
The 28-year-old model has admitted the Channel 4 soap is one of her guilty pleasures, but she is surprised she still watches the programme.
She said: “I can’t believe I still watch ‘Hollyoaks’.”
The runway star also admitted she was disappointed when her mum axed her ‘Hollyoaks’ series link after she moved into her own abode.
Speaking to HELLO! magazine, she added: “My mum recently deleted all of my series links and I was like, ‘Why did you do that?’
“And she said, ‘Because you’re got your own house now.’ ”
Jourdan has previously said she loves to binge watch three hours of ‘Oaks’ at a time at her mum’s house.
She explained: “I’m like, ‘Yes don’t judge me,’ that’s the one thing when I’ve been away and I go home and watch three hours’ worth.”
Jourdan is not the only big star to be a fan of soaps. Katy Perry admitted earlier this year she watches ‘Coronation Street’ and ‘EastEnders’ when she visits the UK.
She said: “I am obsessed with this country.
“I fall in love with the English very easily.
“I like to watch ‘Coronation Street’ and ‘EastEnders’.”
Katy’s admission came just days after The Rolling Stones frontman Sir Mick Jagger joked about ‘Coronation Street’ serial killer Pat Phelan (Connor McIntyre) during the band’s gig in Manchester, where the soap is based.
He told the crowd: “We went to the Northern Quarter. We went down the Curry Mile and I think I saw Pat Phelan. He was eating some papadums!”

Stella McCartney releases first ever bridal collection

OHMYGOSSIP — Stella McCartney has launched her first ever bridal collection – which contains a dress inspired by Duchess Meghan.
The 46-year-old fashion master has created a 17-piece range – entitled Made With Love – and it includes a £3,500 halter neck dress similar to the stunning Stella designed outfit the American beauty wore to her wedding reception at Frogmore House when she married Prince Harry in May.
Revealing her inspiration for the range to Vogue UK, the designer said: “Having been a bride myself and honoured to make wedding gowns for some of my dear friends, it’s something that I feel very passionately about. I really do see it as one of the biggest privileges as a female designer to know that women come into our stores and buy pieces to wear for the most important day of their lives.
“I think that the house of Stella McCartney represents something a little more effortless, and that’s incredibly reflective of the bride and her personality and what she wants to wear even outside of that important day.”
The Made With Love collection contains seven dresses in total, including a cape dress, along with a lace jumpsuit and some tailored pieces with prices starting at £675.
Each item has been made in line with Stella’s environmentally-friendly ethos with all the garments created using sustainable viscose and every outfit contains a blue tag sewn inside featuring a personal message from Stella that is intended to act as the bride’s “something blue”, one of the four wedding dress traditions.
The limited edition collection is available in select Stella McCartney stores globally as well as from Harrods, Net-a-porter.com and Selfridges.
British designer Stella – the daughter of Beatles legend Sir Paul McCartney – admitted she was “humbled” when Meghan, 37, chose her to make her reception dress for her nuptials to Harry, 34, and an honour she will always remember.
She said: “It has truly been one of the most humbling moments of my career. I’ve made a lot of wedding dresses for a lot of high-profile people – none as high-profile as that obviously – but I’ve always felt very protective over that moment and to be entrusted means a lot to me.”
The Givenchy wedding gown that Meghan wore to say her vows to the British royal was created by Clare Waight Keller.

Craig Revel Horwood scouts The X Factor for talent

OHMYGOSSIP — Craig Revel Horwood scouts ‘The X Factor’ for talent for his West End musicals.
The ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ judge has admitted he watches the rival TV talent show – despite the competitive Saturday night ratings battles between the two programmes – in the hope of finding fresh faces for his own productions.
The 53-year-old choreographer told the Daily Star newspaper: “I do watch ‘The X Factor’. I do a lot of casting for my West End musicals on that show.
“It’s great for talent. I must thank Simon Cowell for introducing me to talented people.”
The budding theatre director – who has helmed productions of ‘Miss Saigon’, ‘West Side Story’ and ‘Sunset Boulevard’ – previously said he wanted ‘The X Factor’ to “keep going” after he employed former winner Alexandra Burke in his ‘Sister Act’ show.
He explained: “I’d love to keep ‘The X Factor’ going because I’ve employed Alexandra Burke in my ‘Sister Act’ show.
“Simon Cowell is doing all the leg work for me in finding stars.”
This summer, Craig – who has been a ‘Strictly’ judge since the show began in 2004 – suggested his 59-year-old rival Simon could improve ‘The X Factor’ ratings by appearing on ‘Strictly’.
He quipped: “He might need to do it after this year’s dismal ‘X Factor’ ratings. At least he’d get more viewers that way.”
“Simon would fit right in on the dancefloor with those high trousers.”
The dancer also admitted he thinks ‘Strictly’ trumps ‘The X Factor’ because the show features established celebrities as opposed to “wannabes”.
He said: “We have celebrities whereas on ‘The X Factor’ they’re wannabes hoping to be famous.”

Babs Bevereley dead at 91

OHMYGOSSIP — Babs Beverley has died.
The Beverley Sisters singer – who found fame alongside her siblings, the late Joy, and her twin Teddie – passed away on October 28 aged 91, according to an obituary in the Daily Telegraph newspaper.
The singer married dentist James Mitchell in 1963 after just five weeks together, but their union ended just a few weeks later and they eventually divorced in 1967. She had no children.
Babs – who was born Babette P. Chinery – and her sisters grew up in Bethnal Green, east London but were evacuated to the Midlands during World War II.
The trio had their own BBC TV show in the 1950s but were best known for their songs such as ‘I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus’ and ‘How Much is that Doggy in the Window’.
In 2002, the ‘Sisters’ hitmakers sang at the Queen’s Golden Jubilee and made it into the Guinness World Records as the world’s longest-surviving vocal group without a line-up change, and they received MBEs four years later.
After Joy – who shared the same birthday as the twins but was three years older – passed away in August 2015, Babs and Teddie admitted they had been unable to face going to their funeral.
Babs said at the time: “It would have destroyed us. I don’t think we could have coped with kind people saying how sorry they were. Because we still can’t quite believe Joy’s not here. Of course, we said our own prayers for her, but I know once I start to cry I’ll never stop.”
And the twins recalled how their older sister had always wanted to be the first to die.
Teddie said: “Joy had said to me once when we were making tea, ‘I hope I die before you two. I hope I’m first to go.’ She didn’t want to be left without us.
“When I think about her now, I know if anyone is in the heavenly choir, Joy will be. As long as she’s the soloist and the others follow her phrasing!”
