OHMYGOSSIP — Quincy Jones was working on his acceptance speech for his honorary Oscar before he passed away.
The legendary music producer died on November 3, aged 91, after a battle with pancreatic cancer, and his daughter Rashida Jones actually read out a few words from the acceptance speech he was writing for the Governors Awards.
Rashida – who attended the awards show in Los Angeles on Sunday (17.11.24), alongside his daughters Martina, 58, and Kenya, 31, as well as his son Quincy III, 55 – said: “When I was a young film composer, you didn’t even see faces of colour working in the studio commissaries.
“I’m so, so proud of the fact that my name and contributions can be included in that evolution.
“I share this award and tonight’s honour with all the amazing directors, legendary actors, and of course exceptional songwriters, composers, and musicians who I’ve formed dear friendships with over my seven decades in this business, and know that I wouldn’t trade this night or those experiences for anything in the world.”
Rashid, 48, felt proud to collect the Lifetime Achievement Oscar on behalf of her father, but she also acknowledged that “it was a difficult decision” to attend the event.
The actress – who has starred in comedy shows such as ‘The Office’ and ‘Parks and Recreation’ – said: “In some ways, it was a difficult decision for our family to be here tonight but we felt like we wanted to celebrate his beautiful life and career.
“His music has literally defined an entire century of culture – jazz, disco, film, pop, hip-hop, but the real thread in his music is that his music is all infused with his love.”

Cher recalls being ‘afraid’ to write her memoir

OHMYGOSSIP — Cher initially felt “afraid” to write her memoir.
The 78-year-old icon is set to release her tell-all book – ‘Cher: The Memoir: Part One’ – this month, but Cher was initially hesitant to share personal stories about her childhood and her turbulent relationship with ex-husband Sonny Bono with the public.
She told Entertainment Weekly: “These are stories that happened, and even though some of them are rough, how do you tell your story without telling your story?
“I was afraid to do it in the beginning. But once I made the decision to do it, I just made the decision.”
The ‘Turn Back Time’ hitmaker found dwelling on the “bad” parts of her life to be an “exasperating and tiring” experience.
But ultimately, Cher found the necessary strength to recall all of the ups and downs she’s been through in her life.
The chart-topping pop star said: “Sometimes I would just say: ‘You guys, I just can’t do this anymore. I will be so glad when this is over.’
“Because sometimes when we were in the bad part, the bad part weighed so heavily. Now it’s over, and it’s not a part of me.
“While I was talking about it, it was just exasperating and tiring. I just kept thinking: ‘I don’t want to keep doing this.’
“Then, there’d be something really funny, and I would go: ‘Okay, I can do this.’ But it’s not an easy thing.”
Cher never previously envisaged sharing her story with the world.
The singer’s mom always encouraged Cher to keep her personal life to herself – but she ultimately felt it was the right time to open up.
The ‘Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again’ actress said: “It just was the time.
“My mom always said: ‘What belongs to you comes to you.'”

“For me, it was like therapy.”
Jonathan attended the New York City Pride parade back in 2014, and although he was initially hesitant about the idea, the actor relished the experience in the end.
Jonathan – who attended the parade alongside Frankie J. Alvarez, his ‘Looking’ co-star – shared: “I didn’t feel comfortable to even be in the parade that year.
“I was like: ‘I guess I’m doing the show,’ so I got to get on the parade, and I remember being with [Frankie] on the front of that car and going like: ‘Oh my God, this is f****** amazing.’ And that was what the whole show was like.”
Meanwhile Jonathan previously revealed that he was inspired to come out as gay after seeing Michelangelo’s David sculpture.

NSYNC star Lance Bass reveals why he ‘didn’t really enjoy’ his wedding

OHMYGOSSIP — Lance Bass “didn’t really enjoy” his wedding day.
The 45-year-old pop star tied the knot with artist Michael Turchin, 37, just before Christmas in 2014 but admitted that he didn’t really “get to be present” on the big day very much so he is planning an “extravaganza” in honour of their 10th anniversary once the holidays are well out of the way,
He told UsWeekly: “It is so weird because unfortunately, we got married on December 20, and Christmas is, you know, besides Halloween, it’s my thing. So I totally gloss over our anniversary every year. I’m like, ‘Oh s***, it’s our anniversary!’
“So, this summer, we will definitely do a 10-year anniversary extravaganza. I just don’t know what it’s gonna be, but I’ve always been looking forward to this, because on your wedding night, you don’t really get to enjoy it that much because you’re just always talking and it flies by.
“I didn’t really get to be there and be present. I want to throw a nice little anniversary party. We’re not doing any renewals or anything like that, just bring the exact same people who came to the wedding and have a really nice party.”
The NSYNC singer now has three-year-old twins Alexander and Violet with his husband and noted that the children, particularly his daughter are “definitely in a threenager” phase at the moment.
He said: “I’ve heard about it and it’s really my daughter. It’s just the one, and I know what it is. It’s the damn screen time. We don’t do tablets much, but of course, when you’re on a plane, it’s the only thing. Every time we go on a plane and she uses a tablet for a day, her brain is rewired and she turns into the craziest threenager.
“They turn psychotic. There’s something, I’m sure they’ve done studies, but it definitely crushes your brain when you’re on a tablet.”

The 79-year-old rock star – who is best known as the founder, guitarist, second lead vocalist and principal songwriter of The Who – revealed that he deals with dark thoughts of taking his life on a daily basis but turns to tea and biscuits to get out of that mindset.
He told The Sunday Times: “When I first wake up I’m suicidal, actually suicidal. I have a couple of cups of tea, two digestive biscuits — apparently equal to 17 sugar lumps — and I feel happy.”
The music legend – who has sold over 100 million records as part of the ‘My Generation Rockers’ – explained that if he was to put pen to paper before he has had the chance to drink a cup of tea, the outlook on his life will be demonstrably more “bleak” than if he waits until he has finished it.
He said: “If I start my journals before I have my cup of tea, I’ll paint a very bleak picture of my life. Despite the fact that I have everything that I want and everything that I need … And I have had a really extraordinary life.”
Pete – who previously battled with alcoholism and has now been sober for over four decades – also shared his concerns surrounding the modern issue of social media and noted that so many are “careless” when they try to share solutions to mental health problems online.

Ariana Grande was ‘nervous’ to sit with Kristin Chenoweth at Wicked premiere: ‘We were both crying’

OHMYGOSSIP — Ariana Grande was “nervous” when she sat next to Kristin Chenoweth at the ‘Wicked’ premiere.
The 31-year-old pop star has taken on the role of Glinda the Good Witch in the upcoming adaptation of the hit musical and “held hands” with her close friend Kristin – who originated the part on Broadway – at one of the first screenings of the film, but just needed to know if she had made her “proud” with what she had done.
Speaking on ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show’, Kristin said: “It’s like a love letter to our show, it’s a love letter to Broadway. I sat there with Ariana at the premiere holding her hand. I’ve know her since she was 10, she came to my dressing room and said ‘I wanna play Glinda’ and I said ‘You will!’ When she got the audition, we both squealed. We sounded like dolphins. And then she gets the part.
“After we watched the movie…she was nervous, she paid beautiful homage to my work but she did her own, too. Very much so. She looked at me, we were both crying, and she said ‘Are you proud of me?’ I lost my mind. ‘What do you mean?’, I said, ‘I’m so proud of you!'”
The ‘Into You’ hitmaker recently insisted that she always knew she had to “earn” the coveted role and quashed the notion that she had just been handed it because of her celebrity status.
Speaking on the ‘Sentimental Men’ podcast, she said: “People sometimes say that to me, like, ‘You had to audition?’ Of course! It’s ‘Wicked’. It requires a totally different skill set than people know me for or have ever seen me do anything like.
“It’s ‘Wicked’. That’s the most respectful thing, it has to be earned. It can work against me, in certain ways because when you have this caricatured persona that’s out there and people know you very well as this one thing…is this person going to be able to erase that? This isn’t about me.”

“It’s just where it happened. She asked me, ‘You know you’re running out of time, and when are you gonna get your guy and your kids?
“And I was like, ‘Wow. It’s not like I chose to go through life without a husband and children. It just didn’t happen.’.”
