Tim Burton praises ‘special’ Monica Bellucci

OHMYGOSSIP — Tim Burton thinks Monica Bellucci is “special”.
The 66-year-old director – who has Billy, 21, and Nell, 17, with former partner Helena Bonham Carter – has been dating the ‘Beetlejuice Beetlejuice’ actress for two years and is very happy with her.
Confirming they are still together, Tim told The Times newspaper: “[She is] a very special person.”
Meanwhile, the ‘Edward Scissorhands’ filmmaker admitted he “feels” for his children having grown up in the internet era because “there’s something missing, there’s a mystery missing”.
He said: “I’m grateful in a way that I didn’t grow up in the internet, because, if I think about who I was then, dealing with it [the internet], now, I … feel like I wouldn’t have survived so well.”
He felt that before the development of the online world, lives and art had an “unknown, mystery quality!.
He added: “[Before a film opens now] you know everything. You know how much a movie cost. You know about the actors. You know their personal lives.
“Before, you didn’t know everything about them, which made it more sort of artistic and intriguing.
“Today, everyone knows everything. It does something to a person.”
Although Tim’s dark characters have featured in people’s nightmares, he admitted his scary nocturnal visions were of “real-life things”.
He said: “Nothing scared me except real-life things like the nightmare of having to go to school or visiting my relatives or seeing my parents or whatever. I’d wake in a sweat and ‘gah!’ Nightmares and dreams come in different forms…
“I’ll have these long dreams which I never had before, where I’ll dream something horrible and then wake up and go back to sleep and dream it again.”
After the third time, he will get up and have a cold shower.
It is Halloween on 31 October but the director won’t be doing anything special to mark the spooky holiday.
He said: “Halloween is more for me a state of mind. I don’t necessarily do anything. It’s more of a private, year-round celebration.”

Stevie Nicks pitches idea for Daisy Jones and the Six sequel

OHMYGOSSIP — Stevie Nicks has pitched an idea for a ‘Daisy Jones and the Six’ sequel.
The 76-year-old singer’s band Fleetwood Mac were the inspiration for the novel the Prime Video series was based on, and not only was she a big fan of the drama, she also had ideas for a second season which lead actress Riley Keough and executive producer Reese Witherspoon “loved” but have so far been too busy to take the plan any further.
She told Rolling Stone magazine: ” wish that it could go into what if … had Billy come back after Billy’s wife died and knocked on her door, and they decided to make that last record that I always hoped that Lindsey [Buckingham] and I would make. That would make a fantastic second season.
“I talked to Reese and Riley about it, and they loved the idea, but everybody’s so busy. Riley’s on her way to becoming a big movie star. But maybe one of these days, they’ll do it.
“Until I saw ‘Daisy Jones + The Six’, I would have never thought it was even possible to emulate our life.”
The ‘Edge of Seventeen’ hitmaker admitted she had expected to “hate” the programme and originally didn’t plan to watch it.
She said: “I didn’t even want to see it, because I thought I was going to hate it so much. I had Covid when I saw it. I was in my condo in Los Angeles, and I can remember saying, ‘Am I just watching my life go by?’ ”
Stevie felt the drama was very well cast and she was sad her bandmate Christine McVie – who died in November 2022 aged 79 – passed away before she got chance to see it for herself.
She said: “Riley doesn’t look like me. She’s much snappier than me. I couldn’t be as snappy as her in Fleetwood Mac. Christine and I couldn’t do that, because we were the peacemakers.
“Riley could be totally s***** and a smart a** and totally arrogant, because she wasn’t even in the band, and they weren’t even nice to her. So that was the biggest difference.
“But as far as her character went, it was very similar to me. And I instantly wanted to call her and meet her, and I did.
“I thought Suki [Waterhouse] was a great Christine — in her Englishness and just the way that she dressed. And you know what I was really sad about? That Christine didn’t get to see that, because she would’ve been so tickled by her.
“And I thought Billy [Sam Claflin] was spectacular. I thought he captured so much of Lindsey that it was creepy. He had the curls and that dark handsomeness that Lindsey had.
“One of my favorites was Camila [Morrone]. I thought that Camila and Daisy were a really good combination of me, the two of them put them together.”

Kelsea Ballerini reveals if she would ever marry Chase Stokes following Morgan Evans divorce

OHMYGOSSIP — Kelsea Ballerini would “never say never” to the idea of getting married again.
The 31-year-old country music star initially tied the knot with fellow singer Morgan Evans, 39, but they split in 2022 and she has been dating ‘Outer Banks’ actor Chase Stokes, 32, for almost two years.
When asked if she is ready to get married for a second time, she told E! News: “I would never say never to anything. Anything that I’ve said a hard no to in my life, I have come back and challenged myself on.
“I’m happy and everything is as it should.”
The ‘Miss Me More’ hitmaker even got Chase involved in her music video for ‘First Rodeo’, and explained that the track was a “beautiful ode” to their relationship.
She said: “That song was really the first song that I wrote “that was true to, ‘Hey, I feel fragile, and I feel really nervous to open up my life and my heart again, but I really want to. Will you just take it slow with me?
“He’s such a pillar of this record and obviously of my life. I feel like it was this beautiful ode to him and to us.”
Kelsea also explained that she and the Chase have “learned a lot” from their relationship so far and have “challenged” each other to become a “better” partner since they got together.
She said: “We’ve both learned a lot from it and we’ve both really challenged each other to become a better partner for each other, and also just for ourselves. We’re proper teammates now
Kelsea spends much of her time in her native Tennesse, whilst Chase films his hit Netflix drama in LA, and he recently admitted that even thought is “not always easy” with the physical distance that their careers put between them, they are both committed to “showing up” for one another.
He told People: “We don’t BS each other. If we need to make the effort to show up when one’s across the country, we do. The amount of effort that we put into our careers, we should be doubling that in our personal lives. It’s about really putting in effort, and it’s not always easy and it’s not always convenient, but having a big, beautiful life didn’t come from convenience or ease.”

In the movie – which is due out in 2025 – Pamela stars as a fiery woman who comes under the wing of Liam’s character Frank Drebin Jr,and she noted that he “sincerely looked after” her while they were filming and she made the effort to present him with baked goods in his dressing room

Eddie Redmayne didn’t enjoy training for his latest role

OHMYGOSSIP — Eddie Redmayne doesn’t enjoy having to train for a role.
The 42-year-old Oscar-winner has been getting in shape for his role as Jackal in Sky Atlantic’s series ‘The Day of the Jackal’ but has confessed that it was “not fun”.
Eddie appears on Friday’s episode (25.10.24) of ‘The Graham Norton Show’ alongside Paul Mescal, who said he found training for the role of Lucius in ‘Gladiator II’ enjoyable in the long run because it enabled him to cut out his bad habits.
Speaking about his role in ‘Gladiator II’, Paul, 28, said’: “I ate a lot of chicken and lifted heavy things.
“I was working with a trainer who circled me like a shark and said: ‘There is a canvas to work with.’
“He went to town, and I saw him every day. It was fun. I did everything he asked but I like to drink, and I like to smoke so I drew a line in the sand where those were concerned.”
But when asked how he got in shape for his latest role, ‘The Theory of Everything’ star Eddie firmly disagreed with Paul on the notion that training can be “fun”.
Eddie said: “I profoundly disagree with Paul – it was not fun, it was horrendous.
“You read a scene in the script that says: ‘He is topless, sinuous and ripped, and you think, ‘Oh f***, here comes the chicken diet.’”
Eddie also admitted that after growing up with the original 1973 ‘The Day of the Jackal’ film, he didn’t want to “butcher something” he loved.
He said: “I grew up with the original Edward Fox film and I loved it.
“When the scripts arrived, I thought: ‘I don’t want to touch this, I don’t want to butcher something I love,’ but it has been updated and has a very contemporary feel while retaining that old school, analogue spy quality.”

Nicole Scherzinger pays tribute to Liam Payne 15 years after she helped create One Direction

OHMYGOSSIP — Nicole Scherzinger will “forever remember the meaningful conversations” she had with Liam Payne.
The 46-year-old singer was one of the judges on the UK version ‘The X Factor’ when she helped put One Direction together in 2010 through the television talent show and following the tragic death of former band member Liam – who passed away earlier this month after falling from a balcony aged just 31 – she has taken to social media to share a tribute to the late singer.
On Friday (25.10.24), she wrote on Instagram: “Dear Liam, I will forever cherish and treasure the time we shared together, from fifteen years ago when One Direction was born, right up until just a few weeks ago.
“It was such a blessing to get to work with you recently. We shared the same love and passion for music and I will forever remember the meaningful and joyful conversations we had.
“It’s been so hard to process that you’re no longer here, but I am grateful to have known your kind heart, sweet soul and character.
“You brought so much joy, light, and laughter to the lives of those that truly knew you. I will ‘miss you’ my friend and carry you in my heart. My thoughts and prayers are with your family.”
It was recently revealed that Nicole – who is currently starring as Norma Desmond in a Broadway revival of ‘Sunset Boulevard’ – had been in touch with Liam Payne on the day he died and still managed to make it on stage shortly after she heard the tragic news.
Theatre guru Andrew Lloyd Webber told Billboard magazine: “One thing about Nicole is that once she’s committed to something, she is the most incredible company member and leader of any performer I know.
“And do you know what? I suppose something that hasn’t been said, and I suppose I could say, is that of course she mentored Liam, from One Direction.
“On the Wednesday when he died, she was still texting him that day, and [that evening] the reviewers came in [to ‘Sunset’], she’d just heard that he died.
“And the fact that she even did the show at all is extraordinary. I mean she is an amazing, amazing woman.”

It’s important to learn from mistakes, says Kate Winslet

OHMYGOSSIP — Kate Winslet has urged young actresses to learn from their mistakes.
The Oscar-wining star has advised up-and-coming actresses to not worry too much about making mistakes.
Asked about the advice she has for younger women coming up in the industry, Kate told PEOPLE: “It’s such an interesting question, because I give it a lot of advice all the time.
“The main thing I say is that mistakes are not only celebrated, but they’re important. Because if we don’t make mistakes, we can absolutely never learn. And we all make mistakes, and there is no such thing as perfect. And just to completely be themselves. Because if they can be themselves, they’ve always got that to hang on to and to keep them grounded.”
Asked how she’s managed to overcome her own mistakes, Kate replied: “Honestly, dig deep, keep going, and just believe in myself.
“I mean, that’s honestly what I do. And try not to be hard on myself.
“I think women in general, we’re hard on ourselves all the time. It’s a terrible waste of energy, and I don’t ever want to look back at my life and think to myself, ‘I wish I had been kinder on myself.’ I want to do that now, and always be doing that. So that’s what I do.”
Earlier this year, Shailene Woodley praised Kate for helping her to remain grounded.
The 32-year-old actress worked with the award-winning star on ‘Divergent’ in 2014 and ‘Insurgent’ in 2015, and Shailene still appreciates the advice she was given by the 49-year-old actress.
During an appearance on ‘The Drew Barrymore Show’, Shailene shared: “She’s so, not to overuse the word real, but she’s just real. She is who she is, and she’s not afraid to be who she is. And she’s done the hard work.”

Nicole Kidman felt ‘protected’ on Babygirl set

OHMYGOSSIP — Nicole Kidman always felt “protected” on the set of ‘Babygirl’.
The 57-year-old actress stars alongside Harris Dickinson, Sophie Wilde, and Antonio Banderas in the Halina Reijn-directed erotic thriller, and Nicole has revealed that she loved the working environment, observing that it was a “wonderful” set-up.
The Oscar-winning star told ‘Extra’: “The director, Halina Reijn, she’s an actress, she’s become a writer-director … but she knows how to take care of you as actors to create a place that is safe, very sacred.
“She structures it so there are elements of experimentation, and you can express yourself, but you are always protected.”
Nicole also relished working with her co-stars.
The actress shared: “[Antonio] is so good in the movie and I want to always call out what he brought to it as well. And Sophie Wilde, who is amazing in it. So, we just had a great group of actors who were willing to explore and give it their all.”
Nicole hopes ‘Babygirl’ proves to be a “liberating story” for women.
The Hollywood star found making the movie to be a “very freeing” experience.
Nicole said at the Venice Film Festival earlier this year: “This is one woman’s story and this is, I hope, a very liberating story.
“It’s told by a woman, through her gaze – Halina wrote it and she directed it – and that’s to me what made it so unique because suddenly I was going to be in the hands of a woman with this material. It was very dear to our shared instincts and very freeing.”
Nicole also praised the film’s director for helping her to feel comfortable on set.
She said: “I knew she wasn’t going to exploit me. However anyone interprets that, I didn’t feel exploited. I felt very much a part of it.
“There was enormous care-taking by all of us, we were all very gentle with each other and helped each other. It felt very authentic, protected and, at the same time, real.”

Scheana, 39, said on the ‘Scheananigans’ podcast: “I actually met him this weekend.
“We were all by the artist trailers in the hangout area, and he and Katie were walking up while I was standing at the taco truck in line getting food. I said hi to her. She introduced me to her boyfriend.”
The reality star observed that Nick “could not have been nicer”.
Scheana added: “He’s from San Diego and we just talked about that. Then I ran into them again later back at the hotel at the end of the night, and was just such a sweet guy.”
Earlier this month, Katie revealed that she was “in love” and “very happy” with her new boyfriend.
However, the reality TV star has made a concerted effort to keep their romance low-key.
Katie – who was previously married to ‘Vanderpump Rules’ star Tom Schwartz – said on the ‘Disrespectfully’ podcast: “I have a boyfriend.
“Yeah, I’m in love, everybody. I’m really happy.”
Katie didn’t reveal her boyfriend’s name at the time. However, she was happy to provide an insight into their romance.
She shared: “This weekend, I went to go see my boyfriend. He has to travel for work, so I went to go meet up with him and hang out with him and spend some time.

Ricky Gervais: I took a punt on becoming a comedian

OHMYGOSSIP — Ricky Gervais took a “punt” when he chose to pursue a career in comedy.
The 63-year-old star has taken to social media to reflect on his career, explaining that he took a risk when he decided to become a comedian.
Ricky – who has enjoyed huge success with TV shows such as ‘The Office’, ‘Extras’, and ‘Life’s Too Short’ – wrote on X: “26 years ago, I was made redundant and given a few grand. I decided that if I was careful, I could live off the money for 6 months trying to become a comedian before I had to get another job. I was 37. Worth a punt. (sic)”
Ricky co-created, co-wrote, and acted in the British version of ‘The Office’.
The sitcom proved to be a huge success – but Ricky doubts that the show would even be made in 2024.
The comedian told Times Radio: “Now it would suffer because people would take things literally.
“There are these outrage mobs who take things out of context.
“This was a show about everything – it was about difference, it was about sex, race, all the things that people fear to even be discussed or talked about now, in case they say the wrong thing and they are cancelled.”
Ricky believes people need to understand the real subject and target of the jokes.
He explained: “The BBC have got more and more careful, people want to keep their jobs, so would worry about some of the subjects and jokes, even though they were clearly ironic and we were laughing at this buffoon being uncomfortable around difference.
“I think if this was put out now, some people have lost their sense of irony and context.”

Grateful Dead bassist Phil Lesh dies aged 84

The musician – who was a founding member of the rock band – “passed peacefully” on Friday morning (25.10.24).

“We request that you respect the Lesh family’s privacy at this time.”
Lesh’s cause of death has not been revealed. However, the musician – who played bass guitar in the band for three decades – had a series of different health issues over the years.
He was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2006 and bladder cancer in 2015, while he also underwent a liver transplant in 1998 due to a hepatitis C infection.
Lesh was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994 alongside other members of the Grateful Dead.
And following the death of lead singer Jerry Garcia in August 1995, he continued to tour with former members of the band and other musicians as the Other Ones, the Dead, and Furthur.
Despite this, Lesh was missing from Dead and Company, the band’s most-recent incarnation, which was fronted by John Mayer.
The ‘Unbroken Chain’ hitmaker actually scaled back his touring commitments over the last decade, and he also made a concerted effort to keep a relatively low profile.
Lesh – who trained as a trumpet player, before switching his attention to the bass – is survived by his wife, Jill, and their two sons, Grahame and Brian.

“About two weeks before [he died] he and I were FaceTiming and he seemed really good.
“Two things come to mind [about how to celebrate him]: one of them is to donate to drug treatment centres – let’s fight the disease. And the second way is to watch ‘Friends’ and remember him not as a man who died like that but as a man who was hilariously funny and brought joy to everybody.”

James Franco’s friendship with Seth Rogen is ‘over’

OHMYGOSSIP — James Franco thinks his friendship with Seth Rogen is “over”.
The 46-year-old actor enjoyed a hugely successful partnership with Seth for many years, creating movies such as ‘Pineapple Express’, ‘This Is the End’ and ‘Sausage Party’ together – but their friendship collapsed after James was accused of sexually inappropriate behaviour by a number of women.
The Hollywood star – who reached a $2 million sexual misconduct settlement in 2021 – told Variety: “I haven’t talked to Seth. I love Seth, we had 20 great years together, but I guess it’s over. And not for lack of trying. I’ve told him how much he’s meant to me.”
James has been shunned by Hollywood in recent years. However, the actor appreciates that he’s still able to work in the movie business.
James – who has previously received treatment for sexual addiction – explained: “I’m so grateful to be working.
“I did go through a lawsuit, and during that lawsuit I wasn’t working. But then COVID hit so everybody wasn’t working. So, I don’t know, it was all … I mean, we were all kind of in it. So it was sort of like, ‘I don’t know what I am.’
“But I did certainly use the time to, I hope, good purpose. And whatever had been going on with me before, I had to change my whole way of life. So I am proud of the kind of work I did during that time. And yeah, I wasn’t working in movies, but I certainly was doing a lot of work to change who I was.
“Up until, let’s say the past eight years [before the hiatus] I had a good career. But it was very hard for me to enjoy it. I was a workaholic; I was going all the time.”

The actress – who recently made her Broadway debut in ‘Romeo and Juliet’ – told PEOPLE: “I am surrounded by very, very loving, grounding people.

Speaking to Variety, Rachel added: “As much as you’d like to remind people verbally that being in the spotlight doesn’t absolve you of your humanity – that you’re allowed to have human moments – it doesn’t necessarily do what you want it to do. It fuels them more.
“So it’s choosing to be present and know that they’re probably just having a really hard day. And I’m putting out a movie.”

Judge won’t reconsider criminal charges against Alec Baldwin

OHMYGOSSIP — A judge has declined to reconsider criminal charges against Alec Baldwin over the death of Halyna Hutchins.
The cinematographer was accidentally shot and killed on the set of ‘Rust’ in 2021, but Judge Mary Marlowe Sommer has now insisted that involuntary manslaughter charges – which were thrown out in July – will not be reconsidered.
She wrote: “State does not raise any factual or legal arguments that would justify the grant of a motion to reconsider.”
The charges were thrown out earlier this year after it was revealed during trial that prosecutors withheld evidence from the defence.
At the time, the actor’s attorneys claimed that live ammunition that related to the investigation was “concealed” from them.
In response to the latest request, the judge explained: “Because the State’s Amended Motion raises arguments previously made, and arguments that the State elected not to raise earlier, the Court does not find the Amended Motion well taken.”
Baldwin, 66, was indicted by a New Mexico grand jury in January after the gun he was holding during a rehearsal on the set of ‘Rust’ discharged, killing Hutchins and injuring the film’s director, Joel Souza.
Baldwin has subsequently maintained that he didn’t pull the trigger of the gun or know why it contained live ammunition.
Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, the film’s armourer, was jailed for 18 months in April after being found guilty of charges connected to the incident.
‘Rust’ resumed filming and finished its shoot in May 2023, saying in an Instagram post marking its completion: “It’s been a long and difficult road. But we reach the end of the trail today.”
