OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Mrs. Brown Rides Again’ is to tour the UK for the first time in a decade.
The hit TV sitcom – which first aired three full series on BBC One from 2011 until 2013 before becoming a Christmas special fixture for the broadcaster – stars Brendan O’Carroll as an Irish matriarch and is based on a series of plays he first performed in the late 1990s but now the comedy will hit the road once again in a story that follows Agnes’ quest to stop her family putting her in a home.
In a statement, Brendan said: “The Pandemic is gone, and Mrs. Brown is back. It doesn’t get any better!”
The rest of the cast from the sitcom – including the likes of Jennifer Gibney as Cathy Brown, Eilish O’Carroll as Winnie McGoogan, and Dermot O’Neill as Grandad – are set to join Mrs. Brown on the tour.
News of the tour – which will visit theatres around the UK from August until November 2023 – comes shortly after it was confirmed that the BAFTA Award-winning sitcom will return for a brand new mini series even though Brendan admitted it was supposed to be released two years ago.
admitted the show has been “thwarted twice” due to the COVID-19 pandemic, as it was originally scheduled to hit screens in 2021.
Speaking of the new series, which will be filmed in spring ahead of broadcast later this year, the 67-year-old comic said: “This mini-series was actually planned for 2021. Having been thwarted twice, firstly by Covid-19 and then by a post-Covid shortage of studios, it’s fantastic to, at last, have the chance to make it happen. Fasten your seatbelts and hold on to your hats!”

Tickets for the tour go on sale Friday 24 March at 10am via www.gigsandtours.com and www.ticketmaster.co.uk.
