OHMYGOSSIP — Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu “forgot” ‘Love Island’ was a TV show .
The 28-year-old actress won the hit ITV2 dating show alongside now-boyfriend Davide Sanclimenti back in August and admitted that she and Davide were so embroiled in their own romance they were “rooting” for another couple to win the £50,000 cash prize.
She said: “We at some point forgot it was a TV show so I was like ‘Davide, we’ve got mics on and there are cameras!’ and we were like ‘Oh no, this is a show’. And I think when it hit us was when they told us the finals were coming up. I was like ‘What do you mean the finals are coming up?’ We were happy and thought ‘We’ve got each other’ That’s all that mattered so we were actually rooting for other people to win and we didn’t really mind.”
Ekin-Su went on to quash rumours of infidelity on Davide’s part and noted that while it is “nice” of fans to “stick up for her”, insisted that the inner workings of the relationship are always private, even for those who are not in the public eye.
Speaking on ITV’s ‘This Morning’, she told hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield: “I was on a shoot actually and I had the fans saying ‘Ekin, your man’s been seen with two girls’ and I immediately text Davide asking what was going on. I called him and we spoke and I know from the club that he went to there was a bunch of people there too but there was only a limited number of cabs. You’re in the public eye but it wasn’t just Davide and these two girls. There was a group of them and it’s nice the fans are sticking up but the relationship is always private and only you know the truth. That’s it. You just have to block it out. Even in real life, if you’re not in the public eye. Like ‘Oh she’s flirting with her boss.’ You just have to cut it all out and be you.”
