Ricky Wilson wants to return to The Voice
OHMYGOSSIP — Ricky Wilson wants to return to ‘The Voice’.
The Kaiser Chiefs frontman admitted he regrets walking away from the show in 2016 when it moved from the BBC to ITV and he is desperate to make a return.
Ricky, 44, told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “I don’t find ‘The Voice’ as exciting any more now I am not on it.
“I just feel like I should be there. I had done it for three years and I had won it twice and I felt like if I did it much longer . . . you know, as soon as you get popular, then people start criticising.
“And no one had started criticising me so I thought I’ll get out before anyone says anything bad or notices my tricks.
“The show was moving from BBC to ITV, so I thought that’s probably a good time because they’re going to rebrand it.
“I actually thought maybe they’re going to get rid of me. I should have stuck around. I did really enjoy it.
“Have they said, ‘Please, please come back, all is forgiven’? No. If I’d been asked, I would be there.”
Meanwhile, Ricky recently insisted his days of outrageous rock’n’roll are behind him, as he noted that the only true part is the playing and that the rest is just “d****** about.”
He said: “The most rock’n’roll thing you can ever do in a band is play a gig, it just is. All the rest of the stuff isn’t rock’n’roll, it’s just d****** about. The word has been misused for the last few decades to allude to doing something stupid. I’ve been in a band with the same guys for over 20 years, which probably shows you that I haven’t done that much, because the people that do that barely last five. I jumped off a few balconies into swimming pools but, I mean, that’s just stupid. Physically, I was OK, but obviously I wasn’t in the right place mentally.”
