OHMYGOSSIP — Olivia Attwood’s mum was the one who convinced her to go on ‘Love Island’.
The 29-year-old beauty took part in the ITV2 reality series in 2017 – where she finished in third place with her then-partner Chris Hughes – and although some contestants hate to think their parents are watching them get up to no good on screen, Olivia has admitted it was actually her mum, Jennifer, who told her to sign up.
When asked if she was worried about her mum watching, Olivia said: “Not really. As much as my parents have despaired at times, they do know everything about me – it’s not like they thought I was an angel and then that illusion was shattered. I was really not sure about going on ‘Love Island’, but my mum was the one who was like, ‘Just do it! What have you got to lose? You were meant to be on TV.’ I didn’t really see it in myself.”
Jennifer said she had to really convince her daughter to get on the plane and head into the infamous villa, but almost regretted her part in Olivia’s decision when she began to get “a lot of hate” on social media.
In a joint interview for Heat magazine, she added: “I was on the phone until 3am trying to tell her to get on the flight. But then, I definitely thought you were getting bad press while you were in there. It was awful, we were getting a lot of hate on Instagram. But it turned around in the end.”
Olivia – who is now engaged to Bradley Dack – also spoke about her life in the public eye, as she insisted she’s determined to show people that her stint on ‘Love Island’ is only “one side” of her personality.
She added: “I think a lot of people come out of ‘Love Island’ and yell, ‘That wasn’t me, it was edited, it was a setup!’ And they turn on the show. But when I came out, I knew there was no point in me saying that. Because it was me – but it was just one side of me. So, I just decided to play the long game and give people a chance to see another side.”
