OHMYGOSSIP — Hugh Dennis would be “very happy” to make more episodes of ‘Outnumbered’.
The BBC sitcom originally ran between 2007 and 2014 and Hugh – who played the part of Pete, the dad of the family – is open to the idea of returning to the show.
The 58-year-old actor – who also starred in a Christmas special in 2016 – explained: “I really liked making it, and I’d be very happy to do some more. Maybe in 20 years when the children are looking after us. That would be a great format.”
‘Outnumbered’ remains popular with fans, even though the cast haven’t recorded a new episode in years.
And Hugh thinks the popularity of the show – which centres on a middle-class family in Chiswick, London – is linked to its realistic depiction of family life.
He told Radio Times: “I think it was one of those sitcoms that acknowledged how difficult it is to bring up kids and what an unholy mess it is, quite often. That stuff is confusing and confused.
“The number of people who have come up to me and said, ‘You are basically telling me the story of my own life.’ But I would like to say that I’m a much better father than I appear to be on ‘Outnumbered’.”
Hugh started a relationship with his ‘Outnumbered’ co-star Claire Skinner in 2017, and the actress previously revealed they managed to keep their romance under wraps for a little while.
She shared: “People said to us that someone will notice soon but I kept telling them, ‘We’re both over 50. Why would anyone be interested in that?’
“We’ve got families we wanted to protect, but everybody’s pretty cool and happy with it.”
