OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Coronation Street’ has resumed filming.
The ITV soap was recently forced to suspend filming for two weeks due to the coronavirus pandemic, but stars Elle Mulvaney and Tanisha Gorey have confirmed that production work is now up and running once again.
Elle, 18 – who plays Amy Barlow in the long-running show – posted a behind-the-scenes photo of herself in her dressing room on social media.
Tanisha also posted a behind-the-scenes photo on Instagram, sharing a snap of a mug of tea in front of her mirror.
ITV bosses previously announced the decision to halt filming to allow the cast and crew to temporarily escape the pressures of the coronavirus pandemic.
The soap’s writers were also required to amend storylines in order to work around the break.
A spokesperson for the show previously explained: “‘Coronation Street’ will pause filming from next Monday, 25 January for two weeks to undertake some rewriting of stories and scripts as a consequence of the coronavirus pandemic.”
At the time, ITV bosses explained that they intended to use the break to review the on-set health and safety measures.
However, fans of the show were reassured that the break wouldn’t stop ITV from delivering six episodes a week.
The spokesperson said: “We will also be taking the opportunity to review all health and safety requirements to ensure we continue to provide a safe working environment for the cast, crew and production team.
“This pause in filming won’t affect our ability to deliver six episodes of ‘Coronation Street’ each week.”
ITV also halted filming ‘Coronation Street’ back in March, near the start of the health crisis in the UK.
A spokesperson said at the time: “This decision has been made to minimise the number of staff travelling in and out of our studios and working together on shift at any one time.”
