OHMYGOSSIP — ‘The Masked Singer’ will return for a third series.
ITV bosses have struck up a big deal to bring back the hit singing competition – which is presented by Joel Dommett – for a third series as it’s become the most-watched show on TV.
An insider told the Daily Star newspaper: “After some discussions, ITV agreed to splash the cash for another series. The format is such a hit with viewers, so they know it’ll be worth it.
“They are already making plans for when to film it and which celebs they’d love to sign up. They want the third series to be the best yet.”
The show sees celebrities hide their identity by wearing elaborate costumes before taking the stage to perform and are eliminated one-by-one.
And Joel is set to get a huge pay rise when he returns for the third series, as ITV bosses are keen to keep him on the show.
The insider added: “Joel’s popular with viewers so bosses are keen for him to stay on as host. And they’re prepared to bump up his fee to keep him.”
Meanwhile, the second series of ‘The Masked Singer’ is set to come to a head on Saturday (13.02.21) with Robin, Badger and Sausage battling it out in the final after Sue Perkins and Gabrielle were unmasked over the weekend.
Sue Perkins – who was dressed as the Dragon – was the first celebrity to be unmasked during the semi-final after she failed to impress the audience.
However, none of the panellists – including guest panellist Matt Lucas – was able to identify her prior to her unmasking.
Later in the show, pop star Gabrielle was unmasked as Harlequin, with all of the panellists bar Davina McCall correctly guessing her identity.
