OHMYGOSSIP — Billie Shepherd has quit ‘Dancing on Ice’ after suffering a concussion during training.
The 31-year-old TV star has been forced to withdraw from the ITV show after hitting her head on the rink in a fall, with medics telling her to quit the series for her own safety.
A source close to Billie – who is best known for starring on ‘The Only Way Is Essex’ – told The Sun newspaper: “Billie is absolutely gutted. She’s been really upset all day and would have done anything to stay in the competition.
“But it’s doctor’s orders and she has to put her safety first.”
The news of Billie’s injury has also been confirmed by an ITV spokeswoman.
She said: “During rehearsals for this week’s show, Billie Shepherd has had a fall.
“Taking the expert advice of the ‘Dancing on Ice’ medical team, she sadly cannot perform this weekend and will therefore now withdraw from the competition.
“We wish Billie well as she now takes the time to recover.”
Billie’s injury was revealed shortly after ‘Dancing on Ice’ stars were warned they’ll be axed from the show if they test positive for coronavirus.
Celebrities or contestants would be forced off the ice for two weeks if they are struck down with COVID-19, and as a result it would result in their elimination from the programme.
An insider recently said: “Any of the celebrities or their partners going down with COVID now would mean two weeks out of the competition and training.
“It would leave them dangerously under-trained and it’s too risky to then have them skate.”
