OHMYGOSSIP — Michael Wildman has joked he only signed up for another year on ‘Emmerdale’ so he could kiss Fiona Wade.
The Dales star looks set to be playing Al Chapman in the ITV soap for the foreseeable future, and despite his character currently having two women on the go – his fiancee Priya Kotecha (Fiona Wade) and Debbie Dingle (Charley Webb) – the ‘Harry Potter’ star hasn’t been able to act out any intimate scenes with the actresses due to the current social distancing regulations.
He said: “Fiona and I were cut short with our intimate scenes pretty early, due to COVID.”
And he joked: “I only signed up for the next year because I thought I could snog her for a minute.”
Debbie was recently revealed as Al’s mystery woman, but Michael has admitted her identity was even kept from him, making it “quite difficult” to develop an instant chemistry with Charley, because he had never met her before.
When asked if he knew who Al was going to have the affair with, he told ‘Loose Women’: “No. I didn’t know until literally, a week before.
“Charley and I had never met before we did the scenes.
“They keep everything very close to their chest those producers. So it was quite difficult actually, for both myself and Charley not meeting at all.
“And then having to get into that storyline, trying to mirror that relationship that Al has had with Priya.
“It wasn’t easy.”
Fiona recently promised fans they will see a “feisty” side to Priya in the coming weeks.
She explained: “How many times can you go through something like this? When a man hasn’t done right by Priya before, she thought she would be on top of it next time.
“So the fact that she’s missed this has to make her wake up a bit. There’s much more to come, but you’ll definitely see a feisty Priya: not a personality change, but definitely hardened.
“That said, Priya’s idea will still be that Al turns around and says he’s made a huge mistake. She’s a romantic – she loved him and thought this was the real deal.”
