OHMYGOSSIP — Kem Cetinay has split from Lexi Hyzler.
The ‘Love Island’ star and Lexi struggled to maintain their romance amid the coronavirus crisis, after Lexi returned home to Malta during the lockdown.
A source close to the TV star told The Sun on Sunday newspaper: “Kem and Lexi made a great couple but sadly they have grown apart over the past few months.
“She went home during lockdown and since then the travel restrictions have made it really difficult for them to see each other.
“Lexi told Kem she adored him but didn’t think they could carry on and he agreed.”
The split has been “amicable” and Kem is now dedicating himself to his career.
The insider shared: “It’s been really sad for both of them but it’s all amicable and they’re hoping they can remain good friends.
“Kem has thrown himself into work and is focusing on his new restaurant opening in Essex.”
The TV star – who appeared on ‘Love Island’ in 2017 – went public with Lexi earlier this year.
Kem insisted at the time that his relationship with the brunette beauty was serious.
He said: “The fact I’ve introduced her to my family and she’s stayed here shows I’m taking it seriously.
“We had a chilled week – loads of Turkish kebabs, seven nights a week. She’s got to get used to it.
“We don’t do standard dinners, it’s straight-up barbecue every night. She was force-fed!”
Kem also confessed to being embarrassed by his ‘Love Island’ past.
He explained: “I told her, ‘I’d rather you not watch it before you get to know me’, because that’s how it would normally be. It’s different going into a date having watched 50 hours of someone.”
Kem added: “I don’t think she would watch it. It would be a bit awkward and unnecessary.”
