OHMYGOSSIP — Maisie Smith has learned to accept her perceived flaws.
The ‘EastEnders’ actress – who is currently appearing on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ – has taken to Instagram to discuss her body insecurities, and to explain how she’s learned to accept her cellulite.
Alongside a series of photos of herself, Maisie wrote: “The past few years I’ve been VERY insecure about my legs. I covered them up as much possible. No matter how many people told me “cellulite is natural.. everyone has it..” I still hated them.
“It’s taken me a while but I’m starting to accept these aspects of myself that I’ve always seen as “flaws”. I wore gym shorts (out of the house) for the FIRST time a couple of months ago n I was so so proud of myself. wish I could I say that I LOVE my body but I’m still working on that (sic)”
Maisie, 19, hopes her post will encourage other people to embrace their perceived flaws.
Maisie – who plays Tiffany Butcher in the BBC soap – said: “The reason I posted this was because I understand that it’s SO hard to love yourself and see your “flaws” as “qualities”. We ALL have things we want to change about ourselves.
“But I hope this can help other people feel more confident about their own insecurities. BECAUSE YOU ARE FRIGGING BEAUTIFUL.
“And because self love is the best love [love-heart emoji] (sic)”
Meanwhile, Maisie recently admitted to bursting into tears after surviving the dread dance-off on ‘Strictly’.
The actress was one of the pre-series favourites to claim the crown, but she’s confessed that being in the dance-off knocked her confidence.
She said: “It was so, so scary. It wasn’t a nice feeling at all. You didn’t see it on camera, but as soon as I was saved, I just burst into tears…
“It knocked my confidence. I’ve been trying so hard – we all have. But I’ve had to keep reminding myself not to take it so personally.”
