OHMYGOSSIP — Ranvir Singh has insisted she and Giovanni Pernice haven’t started a behind-the-scenes romance on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The ‘Good Morning Britain’ reporter appeared on the ITV breakfast show via video link on Tuesday (24.11.20), and she played down rumours of a fling with her pro partner on the BBC Latin and ballroom show.
Asked by co-host Piers Morgan if there had been any “hanky panky”, she said: “No, of course not. There hasn’t – there really hasn’t.
“He’s very much about the energy of the performance. It’s so much more than just about learning the steps or learning the routine, or any of those things.
“Also, because I’m a total beginner, so really, I’m never going to be able to do the steps that Maisie [Smith] does.
“That is the truth of the matter – she is an incredible dancer.”
The duo got everyone talking after their steamy Argentine Tango – set to ‘When Doves Cry’ by Prince – and she admitted it was “slightly awkward” having to see clips of the routine on air.
She explained: “Well, we get on. It’s just that we both … I suppose what it is, is there’s a performance element to the dancing, which is all about telling the story about two people.
“I mean, of course when you keep replaying that bit, it’s slightly awkward, thank you very much.”
Former ‘Strictly’ champion Ore Oduba – who won the competition in 2016 – played down the show’s so-called curse, and revealed his wife Portia was very supportive of his stint on the programme.
Speaking on ‘GMB’, he added: “We were very fortunate, because actually my wife was the kind of woman who said, ‘Can you get back in that rehearsal room with that wonderful woman, because you need to be a better dancer.’
“We were a year married and thankfully we got through it. Here we are, five years down the track!”
