OHMYGOSSIP — Shane Richie is said to have kept his ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ appearance a secret from two of his kids.
The former ‘EastEnders’ star – who has Shane Jr. and Jake with ex-wife Coleen Nolan, and Mackenzie, Lolita and Romani with wife Christie Goddard – reportedly didn’t tell his two eldest sons he would be taking part in the ITV game show until he was in isolation.
A family friend told The Sun newspaper: “Shane Jnr and Jake hadn’t got a clue their dad was going on to the show. He wanted to keep it as a total surprise for them and only broke the news once he was in isolation on set in Wales. Shane Jnr and Jake are massively supportive of their dad and can’t wait to see him on screen.”
It comes as there is speculation Shane Jr. has joked he may change his surname back to his dad’s after he switched it to his mum’s whilst she was in the ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ house in 2012.
The source added: “Shane Jnr changed his surname to Nolan while his mum was in ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ – and he’s joked with his mates about changing it back now.
“He was known as Shane Richie Jnr for years, and while his dad is in the competition, he might change it back again.”
Explaining his decision to change his name to Nolan, Shane previously said: “I did it for two reasons. Firstly, in support of mum – I’m very protective of her and I always want her to know that I have her back.
“Secondly, it’s because there are no male Nolans about, really.”
