OHMYGOSSIP — Keith Lemon rejected ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ after being warned it was “hard”.
The 47-year-old comedian – whose real name is Francis Leigh – refused to take part in the BBC Latin and ballroom dancing competition after being approached by the show’s bosses.
Asked if he’s ever been asked to take part in ‘Strictly’, he said: “Yes, I have.”
However, the ‘Celebrity Juice’ host decided to dismiss the offer because he’d previously been told that it was a gruelling challenge.
Speaking to Heat magazine, he explained: “I’ve had a lot of friends do it and they’ve all told me how hard it is. One of my friends did it and before she went on, I said, ‘Don’t do it! Don’t Do it!’ Then she did it and ended up doing really well.
“Afterwards, she asked me, ‘Why did you say not to do it?’ and I said ‘Because I didn’t want to be there, sat in the audience every Saturday four hours on end, clapping like a seal.'”
Keith is hosting a new series of ‘Shopping with Keith Lemon’ – but he thinks the show needs a name change as he couldn’t take his guests shopping during the pandemic.
He said: “I think it will be called ‘Shopping and Not Shopping with Keith Lemon’ because we filmed two episodes before the world turned into a piece of poo.
“I went shopping with Caitlyn Jenner and John Barrowman and then the whole lockdown thing happened. So, for the rest of the episodes, we just took guests to wildlife parks or theme parks or the seaside – anything outside, really.”
Despite this, Keith thinks the restrictions only become noticeable during wide shots.
He continued: “When you watch it you won’t even notice. In some of the wide shots when we’re walking along you might think, ‘Why are they so far apart? Has Keith farted?’
“I was watching one episode back the other day, it was me with Emma Bunton having a walk in the forest, but because we’re two metres apart it looks like one of us has farted. I blame Emma.”
