OHMYGOSSIP — Davina McCall is set to present a new series celebrating four decades of Channel 4.
The 53-year-old TV star will pay tribute to the channel’s impact in a four-part series, which will be broadcast over Christmas.
‘Big Brother’, which Davina previously hosted, will take centre stage in the series, and the presenter will reacquaint viewers with some of the show’s most memorable characters, including Jade Goody and ‘Nasty’ Nick Bateman.
The upcoming show – which is broken down into decades-long periods of TV history – will also pay tribute to some of Channel 4’s other big successes in the noughties, such as ‘Wife Swap’, ‘How to Look Good Naked’ and ‘Coach Trip’, the Daily Star newspaper reports.
Sir Lenny Henry will revisit the 80s, focusing on shows like ‘Brookside’ and ‘Whose Line Is It Anyway?’, while the 90s-themed episode will be fronted by Vic Reeves, who will remind viewers of hits like ‘The Word’ and ‘Father Ted’.
Elsewhere, Jimmy Carr is set to front the 2010s episode, recalling the most memorable moments from shows such as ‘Gogglebox’ and ‘The Great British Bake Off’.
Meanwhile, Davina previously described the first series of ‘Big Brother’ as “very basic”.
The TV presenter explained how the iconic show – which launched in 2000 – evolved in a relatively short space of time.
She said: “At the beginning, it was very basic.
“I think it would be very interesting to show the first series again. To show how they did nothing. They sat around and only had chickens to look after and they just talked – there was hardly any tasks – and that’s what’s quite funny about it, how did anybody watch this?
“It was really funny. It was side-splitting, desperately funny. I have never laughed as much as I did when watching ‘Big Brother’.”
