David Tennant and Joe Sugg set to present Comic Relief

OHMYGOSSIP — David Tennant and Joe Sugg are among the presenters for this year’s Comic Relief.
The former ‘Doctor Who’ star and 2018 ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ finalist will be joined at the likes of Paddy McGuinness, Emma Willis, Romesh Ranganathan, Rob Beckett, Alesha Dixon, Clara Amfo and Zoe Ball for the annual fundraising event, which takes over BBC One and BBC Two on March 15.
Sir Lenny Henry will return as the host of the event.
David – who has worked with the charity for many years – has fond memories of raising money for Comic Relief, which was founded in 1985 by the comedy scriptwriter Richard Curtis and comedian Lenny in response to famine in Ethiopia, from a young age.
He commented: “Comic Relief is one of those beautifully brilliant and bonkers British ideas. It’s part of the national furniture.
“As a school kid I always looked forward to it coming around.
“As a student I went busking for it in Glasgow.
“Me and my mate Alan did a Proclaimers tribute act during drama school lunch hours.
“It’s one of those things that I’ve grown up with. It’s always something exciting to be part of.
“It’s a really fun and exciting national moment – and it really changes lives.
“I had the privilege of going to see some of the work the charities have done overseas and I was moved and also cheered by it.
“I was depressed by what is needed and cheered by what is possible.
“That’s always a reason to come back and support the charity.”
This year looks set to be bigger than ever before, with a special episode of ‘Bodyguard’, Jennifer Saunders spoofing ‘Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again’ and Alan Partridge’s big return as Steve Coogan brings back the inept broadcaster.
Stars including Dani Dyer, Ed Balls, Little Mix’s Jade Thirlwall and Leigh-Anne Pinnock and ‘Strictly’ head judge Shirley Ballas have also been climbing Kilimanjaro to raise funds.
