OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Time Team’ could make a comeback if fans are willing to fund it.
The series – which aired on Channel 4 from 1994 to September 2014 – was presented by ‘Blackadder’ star Sir Tony Robinson and each episode featured a team of specialists carrying out an archaeological dig over a period of three days.
In 2020, the series was revived for a short run on YouTube, having been financially backed by fans on the membership platform Patreon, and now another fundraiser is just £2,000 short of hitting the target that would allow the show to enjoy another outing based around monthly releases on the video sharing platform.
In a statement, Time Team’s creator and Series Producer, Tim Taylor said: It’s thrilling that fans across the globe are at the heart of ‘Time Team’. We have some really exciting plans ahead with your ongoing support. ‘Time Team’ has always investigated sites that may otherwise lay forgotten or be lost forever. Increasing our membership helps us plan further into the future. Ultimately, the more subscribers we get, the more sites we can do!
“Please help us achieve our ongoing vision for ‘Time Team’. Be by our side with every new discovery as we investigate more sites!”
Patreon is an online membership platform, giving access to a range of extra content as incentives, from live Q and As to masterclasses.
Fans can join at a choice of four different levels for a monthly or annual subscription, while helping to shape Time Team’s future.
Tony has also returned to front documentaries exploring iconic sites and big themes and his first – which is coming to YouTube soon – will investigate the US 101st Airbourne in Wiltshire,
alongside Operation Nightingale.
He said: “It’s wonderful to be back out in the field with Time Team again, and what a project to kick things off!”
