OHMYGOSSIP — Millie Court and Liam Reardon have been crowned the winners of ‘Love Island’.
The 24-year-old fashion buyer’s administrator and the 22-year-old bricklayer were named the winning couple of the ITV2 reality series during Monday’s (23.08.21) live final, after their love story captured the hearts of the viewing public.
After being told they had finished in first place, they then had to decide what to do with the £50,000 prize.
Millie picked the envelope with the money inside meaning she could choose to keep the cash herself and leave Liam with nothing, or split it evenly between them – which is the option she chose.
And their win was made even more special as just moments before the result was announced, Liam had officially asked Millie to be his girlfriend during their chat with host Laura Whitmore.
When Laura asked if their next step was to make it official, Liam said: “Yeah, that’s been on my mind for a while. So … will you be my girlfriend?”
The pair also discussed saying “I love you” for the first time during their final date, which took place in a castle and was aired last week.
Liam said: “It was on the tip of my tongue for a week, and I was so close to saying it but I wanted to wait until a nice time, and I thought that last date in the castle was the perfect moment. So I said it, and I beat Millie to it!”
While Millie added: “We both planned to say it, but we didn’t know we were both going to say it that night. But because it was his birthday, I thought it was the perfect time to say it and make it really special.”
Millie and Liam’s win means they beat runners-up Chloe Burrows and Toby Aromolaran, third place pair Faye Winter and Teddy Soares, and Kaz Kamwi and Tyler Cruickshank, who finished in fourth.
