OHMYGOSSIP — Shalom Brune-Franklin’s friends warned her not to “ruin” ‘Line of Duty’.
The 26-year-old actress joined the crime drama this series as DC Chloe Bishop and she admitted she was more “nervous” about taking on this job than any other because she knows how important the show is to people.
She said: “You know it’s huge — I watched it myself as a fan and loved it — so you’re aware of how big it is.
“When I was gearing up to do it I was really nervous because my family and friends are such huge fans. Every other show I’ve done, they’ve been, like, ‘Oh yeah, great, I’ll give it a watch.’ But with ‘Line of Duty’ it was, ‘You’d better not ruin my favourite show on TV.’ One of my friends actually said that.”
Shalom is constantly asked for spoilers about what’s coming up on the show and her friends even message her in the middle of the night with their ideas.
Asked if people ask her for spoilers, she said: “So many people. I had my own theories when I was watching it at home, but being in it it’s really brought to your attention how much people like playing detectives along with the show.
“Friends of mine will text me in the middle of the night [with theories]. The other day one sent me a video of her asking Alexa who H was.”
The anti-corruption drama infamously relies heavily on technical dialogue and acronyms and though Shalom admitted it was hard to get to grips with everything at first, showrunner Jed MErcurio’s extensive notes proved helpful.
She told Sunday Times Style: “There are a huge amount of terms to get your head around. But Jed is so thorough.
“I know there was a lot of controversy over ‘Chis’ [a police acronym for covert human intelligence source], and when I first read that word in the script I had the same reaction as the viewers.
“But Jed had written underneath exactly what it means, what it stands for and how it’s pronounced, so it felt like he had done so much of the work for you.”
