OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Spitting Image’ creator Roger Law wants Donald Trump to lose the US election – but admits it would be a blow to the show.
The 79-year-old caricaturist is eager to see Joe Biden defeat Trump in the upcoming election, even though he knows the outspoken Republican is “an absolute gift” to ‘Spitting Image’.
He explained: “Donald Trump is an absolute gift to a satirical show but on the other hand I would like to see him go, I really would.”
Trump has featured prominently on the show over the last month, as he’s been ridiculed for some of his high-profile gaffes during his time in the White House.
But Roger admits if he is replaced by Biden, Trump’s absence will leave a big whole to fill for the creators of the comedy show.
He told the Radio Times magazine: “If Biden wins I think we might have to remake him.
“The current puppet hasn’t got a blink; he’s got no eyes. The mouth is good but he wears a mask with, ‘Shut up, man!’ written on it.”
Roger also explained that ‘Spitting Image’ won’t be broadcast in the US, with the caricaturist suggesting Americans would take the show more seriously than their British counterparts.
He claimed British voters are happy to laugh at public figures on either side of the political divide.
Roger said: “In America, there’s a superficial politeness to a country of people who have all got guns. You’ve someone like Trump running the country yet they call him ‘Sir’. That wouldn’t happen here.
“People are rude to one another and there’s a taste for cruel humour.
“People voted for Boris [Johnson], we make him look like a shambles and yet they’re still very happy to laugh at it.”
