Lisa Riley confirms special Emmerdale memorial episode for Steve Halliwell

OHMYGOSSIP — Lisa Riley has confirmed there will be a special ‘Emmerdale’ memorial episode dedicated to the late Steve Halliwell.
The 48-year-old actress – who has played Mandy Dingle in the ITV soap on and off since her teens – has told how there will be an episode dedicated to her late on-screen uncle, who passed away in December aged 77.
Speaking on ‘Lorraine’, Lisa said: “We started shooting the memorial episode, actually, Monday just gone [August 12].
“And our beloved Steve Halliwell, you know, he’s like my father for years in the show, he taught me so much and we’re doing a dedicated episode for him. That’s what he deserves.”
Lisa insisted the cast will make sure they do Steve, who portrayed Mandy’s uncle Zak Dingle in the soap, “proud” in the special episode.
She said: “He is the ultimate icon of ‘Emmerdale’, the king of the Dingle family and he deserves everything and more. We’ll do him proud.”
Steve’s family confirmed in December that he had passed away surrounded by loved ones.
They said in a statement: “He went to sleep, peacefully with his loved ones around him.
“He was making us laugh to the end, the most amazing father and grandfather you could ever wish for, family was everything to him.
“We would like to thank the wonderful staff at St James Hospital and the Wheatfield Hospice for their love and kindness in his final days. He didn’t want sadness, just to rejoice in a life well-lived.”
Lisa paid tribute to Steve in July when she won Best Comedy Performance at the RadioTimes.com Soap Awards, and she dedicated the gong to the late star.
She said: “The one true comedy icon is Steve Halliwell, Uncle Zak, the love of my life. All them years ago when I was a kid, he taught me so many comedic skills. So I’d like to please say thank you to everyone who voted for me, but I’d like to dedicate this award to our lovely Steve Halliwell.”

A Place in the Sun star Jonnie Irwin left nearly 1m in will following tragic passing

OHMYGOSSIP — Jonnie Irwin left nearly £1 million in his will.
The ‘A Place in the Sun’ presenter died of lung cancer aged 50 in February, and probate records show he left his £953,000 estate to his wife of seven years, Jessica Irwin.
According to documents obtained by The Sun newspaper, Jonnie – who was diagnosed with terminal cancer in 2000 – had £956,967 worth of assets, which was reduced to £953,425 following deductions.
In February, Jessica admitted her husband’s death didn’t “feel real”, and she was struggling to think about spending her life without the father of her three children, Rex, five, and three-year-old twins Rafa and Cormac.
She wrote on Instagram: “It still doesn’t feel real. The sadness is huge. I can’t even let myself think what another week without Jonnie will be like let alone another year another 10 years.”
Jessica was “truly touched” by the messages of support she received, and she sent particular praise to her and Jonnie’s families for their help.
She continued: “I have been truly touched by all the support from friends and strangers. But nothing compares to how I have been picked up by my family and Jonnies sisters , your support and love means everything to me.”
Jessica previously paid a touching tribute to the ‘Escape to the Country’ star following the news of his passing.
She wrote on Instagram: “Good night my favourite. Thank you for everything. I will always love you. The hardest day has come, a day I prayed wouldn’t come. It’s with all the sadness in the world that I confirm Jonnie has passed away earlier today. His magical brain that continued to fight to the end has now gone to sleep. He has given me more than I could ever have wished for, 8 bonkers years of love and adventure and 3 amazing boys.
“I will continue to make you proud but only with your love still finding me and guiding me for the rest of my life, me and the boys still need you. Jonnie you really were the most handsome man I ever knew and I am so sorry for this cruel end. It really wasn’t fair and you didn’t deserve any of this. You gave so much time to others and touched everyone you met, I have never experienced anything like the effect you had on people. I love you so much and forever proud of you xxx. (sic)”

Blake Lively praised for ‘advancing the conversation around domestic violence’ in It Ends With Us

OHMYGOSSIP — Sony Pictures Entertainment CEO Tony Vinciquerra has praised Blake Lively for “advancing the conversation around domestic violence” with her new movie ‘It Ends With Us’.
The film – which is based on Colleen Hoover’s 2016 novel of the same name – stars the 36-year-old actress as a young woman who falls madly in love with a seemingly-innocent man (Justin Baldoni) before finding out he is an abuser, and the studio’s boss has now hailed Lively for shining a light on domestic violence.
Vinciquerra told The Hollywood Reporter: “Blake, Colleen and so many women put so much effort into this remarkable movie, working selflessly from the start to ensure that such an important subject matter was handled with care. Audiences love the movie.
“Blake’s passion and commitment to advancing the conversation around domestic violence is commendable.
“We love working with Blake, and we want to do 12 more movies with her.”
While the flick is winning over audiences and impressing at the box office – with its opening weekend bringing in $50 million – ‘It Ends With Us’ has hit a rocky patch after the relationship between the cast and Baldoni reportedly splintered.
The 40-year-old actor – who also directed the film – was said to have fallen out with Lively and Hoover in the post-production stage of the movie when two versions of the picture emerged once his co-star commissioned an alternative cut of the flick from ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’ editor Shane Reid.
An industry insider told PEOPLE: “All is not what it seems.
“There is much more to this story. The principal cast and Colleen Hoover will have nothing to do with him.”
Rumours about the fractured relationship between the director and cast intensified after Baldoni reportedly hired crisis PR expert Melissa Nathan from The Agency Group, and didn’t take any photos with Lively at the movie’s premiere.
Still, the actor and filmmaker also said he thought Lively would be a good fit to direct a potential sequel to ‘It Ends With Us’.
When Entertainment Weekly asked Baldoni if he could return to direct a follow-up film, he replied: “I think there are better people for that one. I think Blake Lively’s ready to direct. That’s what I think.”

Davide Sanclimenti slams ‘evil’ robbers who stole 1.2m of precious items from him

OHMYGOSSIP — Davide Sanclimenti has been targeted by “evil” robbers, who stole $1.2 million worth of his “precious and personal belongings”.
The devastated ‘Love Island’ star told fans how thieves struck in just six minutes following his recent move to Los Angeles.
He wrote on his Instagram Stories: “I would like to say a big thank you to everyone who has displayed their concern and DMing me and asking why I have been quiet over socials.
“As you know I’m living in LA atm.
“Our home got broken into and was robbed of nearly $1.2m worth of precious and personal belongings gone within 6 minutes… (sic)”
Davide reassured fans he is “trying to stay positive” following the awful incident, and he is now planning to move house.
He added: “Just goes to show the saying is true, “the evil always target the purehearted” but I’m trying to stay positive. that the good people will always win in the end!
“I’m taking few days to reset, change house and keep moving forward (sic)”
Davide shot to fame in 2022 when he and then-girlfriend Ekin-Su Culculoglu won the eighth series of ‘Love Island’ and shared the £50,000 prize pot.
The pair went on to land their own reality TV series, ‘Ekin-Su Davide: Homecomings’, but they split in June 2023.
Ekin-Su and Davide later reconciled and confirmed in September 2023 they were together once again, however, they split again in January this year.
She wrote on Instagram at the time: “The last 18-months have been a rollercoaster of ups and downs, just like every relationship. Davide and I both wanted to make this work as we cared deeply for each other.
“Unfortunately I have recently made the decision to end our relationship and to go our separate ways..
“Breakups are never easy. For any couple. And we hope that our privacy will be respected. I enjoyed our time together and the memories we made.
“Thank you for your continued support. It’s been so lovely to have you follow our Love Island journeys together since the villa and we hope you’ll continue to follow our careers as we go off in our own directions. Love always, Ekin-Su. (sic)”
But Davide later admitted he was taken by surprise at Ekin-Su’s statement.
He wrote on Instagram: “Life sometimes reserves surprises and suddenly wakes you up…
“Ekin and I, just after the ski holidays, decided to go different ways. It was a joint decision, but I was waiting to make it public to respect her time in the show. I don’t know why the agreed statement changed last minute.
“I agree, it was a beautiful story, even with its ups and downs like all couples.
“I loved every moment, from the first time I knew her in the villa until life outside. I really believed in us and saw a future for us. But sometimes in life people need to grow apart. Is just the direction of life. I will treasure our moments forever.
“Now it’s time to focus on myself. I love you all always, thank you for the unconditional support everyone showed me from the beginning. (sic)”

Pasha Kovalev calls for Strictly to ‘revisit’ rules amid recent controversy

OHMYGOSSIP — Former ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ professional dancer Pasha Kovalev has called for the show to “regulate or revisit” its rules amid the programme’s recent controversy.
The 44-year-old star – who was a pro dancer on the show from 2011 to 2018 – insisted he would’ve “definitely intervened” if he had seen any “bad apples” acting up behind the scenes on the series, and he has called for changes.
He told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “I never experienced anything of the sort during my time on ‘Strictly’ or witnessed anyone else going through it, because I’d have definitely intervened.
“I guess in every office in the country you’d have one or two bad apples, and when it comes to it, it needs to be dealt with.
“The rules need to be regulated, or revisited, and the atmosphere should be re-established where people are trusting one another, people are positive and working together to create a better show – delivering a better product, and entertaining people. It’s entertainment for Christ’s sake – it’s supposed to be fun.”
Pasha’s comments come after Giovanni Pernice and Graziano Di Prima were dropped from the professional line-up amid claims of abuse, but both deny wrongdoing.
BBC director general Tim Davie has since apologised to anyone who has had an experience on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ that “hasn’t been wholly positive”.
Some have since called for ‘Strictly’ to be rested next year following the latest controversy, but Pasha insists the show must go on because it brings “joy and happiness” to many people.
He added: “People absolutely love it, it brings so much joy and happiness to people – it’s escapism.
“It’s positive, beautiful, challenging and immersive. We need more shows like that.”

Sir Ridley Scott insists Gladiator II is ‘as good’ as original epic

OHMYGOSSIP — Sir Ridley Scott has promised ‘Gladiator II’ is “as good as” the Oscar-winning first film.
The 86-year-old director returns to the Roman age after 24 years for the upcoming epic, and Scott has reassured fans of the 2000 original – which starred Russell Crowe as general-turned-slave Maximus Decimus Meridius – the blockbuster won’t disappoint.
He told PEOPLE: “It’s as good as the first one. I didn’t say better, it’s as good.”
This comes after the filmmaker revealed the project – which stars Paul Mescal, Denzel Washington, Pedro Pascal and Joseph Quinn – boasts the “biggest action sequence” of Ridley’s entire career, even bigger than his 2023 historical drama ‘Napoleon’.
Speaking to Empire, he explained: “We begin the film with probably the biggest action sequence I’ve ever done. [It’s] probably bigger than anything in ‘Napoleon’.”
While the director hypes the movie, Mescal, 28, admitted he was hoping ‘Gladiator II’ and ‘Wicked’ could recreate the ‘Barbenheimer’ phenomenon – which saw ‘Barbie’ and ‘Oppenheimer’ dominate the box office last year – when both flicks hit theatres on 22 November.
Mescal told Entertainment Tonight: “Wickdiator doesn’t really roll off the tongue, does it? I think my preference would probably be Glicked if it has a similar effect to what it did for ‘Barbie’ and ‘Oppenheimer’.
“It would be amazing ’cause I think the films couldn’t be more polar opposites, and it worked in that context previously. So, fingers crossed people come out and see both films on opening weekend.”
The Oscar-nominee plays the role of Lucius Verus in the sequel – the former heir to the Roman Empire who is forced into slavery – and explained the challenges of getting into shape for the part.
The 28-year-old actor said: “I just wanted to be big and strong and look like somebody who can cause a bit of damage when s*** hits the fan.
“I think also, sometimes, one could, in striving for that perfect look, end up looking more like an underwear model than a warrior.
“Muscles start to grow, and that can be deemed aesthetic in certain capacities, but there is something about feeling strong in your body that elicits just a different feeling.
“You carry yourself differently. It has an impact on you psychologically in a way that is useful for the film.”

Kraven the Hunter will ‘surprise the hell’ out of fans, says director J.C. Chandor

OHMYGOSSIP — J.C. Chandor has teased ‘Kraven the Hunter’ will “surprise the hell” out of moviegoers.
The film – which stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, 34, as the titular character – is Sony Pictures’ latest entry into their Marvel movie series, and now the 50-year-old director has insisted audiences will be enamoured with the blockbuster when it hits theatres on 13 December 2024.
He told Deadline: “I’m extremely proud of the work we have all done together on ‘Kraven’, and when the movie finally gets its chance to be seen I think it’s gonna surprise the hell out of a lot of people.
“As for what’s next for me, as always that’s up to the moviemaking gods.”
Having starred in the likes of ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ and ‘Kick-A**’, Taylor-Johnson admitted he thought he was finished appearing in “big franchises” before he signed on to ‘Kraven the Hunter’.
He told Esquire magazine: “I mean, quite honestly, I thought I’d actually been done with these sorts of movies.
“You can’t step into this role, you can’t step into what this franchise is, with a f****** half-a****, ‘Let’s see how it goes attitude.’ You have to be mentally prepared for what could come with that.
“I think I’m secure in my life now to know that I’m happy to deal with that.
“I don’t think I was probably ready to invite that into my life earlier on.”
The ‘Bullet Train’ actor – who stars in the upcoming superhero flick alongside Russell Crowe and Ariana DeBose – also insisted he found the anti-hero to be very compelling when he read the script for the film.
He told Rolling Stone UK: “I think there was something unique about this character and something grounded.
“We’ve all had enough of seeing certain studio films, a certain kind of pop culture … where they’re churning out stuff that dilutes wanting to go to the cinema. I wouldn’t have signed onto it if I felt there wasn’t something to really bring to life with this character.”

Charlotte Crosby exits Celebrity MasterChef

OHMYGOSSIP — Charlotte Crosby has been eliminated from ‘Celebrity MasterChef’.
The 34-year-old TV star has left the BBC cooking show after she failed to impress the judges, John Torode and Gregg Wallace.
Charlotte – who is best known for appearing on the MTV reality series ‘Geordie Shore’ – underwhelmed the experts during the food truck challenge and she’s now left the show.
After her exit was announced, Charlotte shared: “This experience is one I’ll remember til the day I die.
“I’ve learned some new skills and met some really good people so you can’t be sad about that, can you?”
By contrast, Charlotte previously impressed the judges with her culinary skills. However, she failed to maintain that standard during the latest challenge.
Meanwhile, earlier this week, Charlotte took to social media to defend herself from online trolls.
The reality star admitted to being shocked by some of the comments that she read about herself after making her ‘Celebrity MasterChef’ debut.
Charlotte – who won ‘ Celebrity Big Brother’ back in 2013 – wrote on Instagram: “The BBC viewers are such a lovely bunch!
“I’ve never seen such evil comments, they really should be ashamed of themselves to be honest, and to just blatantly comment like totally shamelessly I’m in shock!
“How could you reallly be that wound up about someone just genuinely having so much fun on a tv show!
“I wouldn’t normally address it and give them any airtime but honestly they need to be named and shamed! Just check the comments…… (sic)”

Tommy Fury ‘horrified’ by cheating allegations

OHMYGOSSIP — Tommy Fury is “horrified” by “false” allegations suggesting his relationship with Molly-Mae Hague ended over claims he’d been unfaithful.
The couple – who finished as runners-up during the 2019 series of the ITV2 reality dating show – shocked fans this week when they called off their engagement after five years together and the news has prompted wild speculation about the reasons behind the decision to part ways.
Now a representative for Tommy has insisted the reality star/boxer is aghast over “false” claims suggesting he cheated. They told The Mirror newspaper: “Tommy is horrified by the false allegations of cheating being circulated by the media and he’s consulting his lawyers.”
Influencer Molly-Mae – who gave birth to the couple’s daughter Bambi last year – broke the news of the split in an emotional statement posted on Instagram, writing: “Never in a million years did I think I’d ever have to write this. “After five years of being together, I never imagined our story would end, especially not this way.

Matt Smith and Liev Schreiber join Darren Aronofsky’s Caught Stealing

OHMYGOSSIP — Matt Smith and Liev Schreiber have joined the cast of Darren Aronofsky’s crime thriller ‘Caught Stealing’.
The ‘House of the Dragon’ star, 41, and ‘Asteroid City’ actor, 56, join Austin Butler, 32, Zoë Kravitz, 35, and Regina King, 53, in the flick, as reported by Deadline.
‘Elvis’ star Austin plays Hank Thompson, a burned-out former baseball player, as he’s unwittingly plunged into a wild fight for survival in the downtown criminal underworld of ’90s NYC.
The Sony Pictures movie is based on the book of the same name by Charlie Huston.
Darren recently told Deadline: “I am excited to be teaming up with my old friends at Sony Pictures to bring Charlie’s adrenaline-soaked roller coaster ride to life. I can’t wait to start working with Austin and my family of New York City (NYC) filmmakers.”
Charlie has adapted the screenplay with Darren’s Protozoa Pictures producing.
Sanford Panitch, President of Sony Pictures’ Motion Picture Group, said: “Darren is one of the most brilliant audiovisual storytellers in the world, and adapting these wonderful books by Charlie Huston for Austin to star was too exciting an opportunity to not be a part of.”
Former Doctor Who, Matt plays Prince Daemon Targaryen in HBO’s ‘Game of Thrones’ prequel ‘House of the Dragon’, currently airing, and recently admitted he found it “difficult” filming without Emma D’Arcy.
Although his co-star – who uses they/them pronouns – plays his on-screen wife Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen, they have much fewer scenes together in the second season than they did in the first, and they both missed working together.
Matt told Variety: “It was difficult to do it without them because I love them — a person of real depth and sardonic humour and fierce intellect.”
Emma added: “It was kind of rubbish! The man has incredibly high standards, so you at least have a chance of the work being satisfying. I have petitioned for more time next season.”
The former ‘Crown’ actor also admitted he needs to find more “balance” in his life when he’s working.
He said: “I’m quite dedicated when I work, and it becomes a solitary experience. I probably need more balance.
“I get tunnel vision — I don’t think I make enough room for a life.”

Glen Powell defends Twisters after kiss backlash

OHMYGOSSIP — Glen Powell has defended ‘Twisters’ following a backlash over the exclusion of a kiss between the two main characters.
The actor plays a storm chaser in the disaster movie – a standalone sequel to 1996 film ‘Twister’ – opposite Daisy Edgar-Jones and despite their characters getting close at the end of the film director Lee Isaac Chung decided not to include a scene of the pair sharing a smooch onscreen – and Glen is adamant it was the right move.
He told Screenrant: “I really think that even that [backlash] shows that people care, which is really great. I just love how excited people have gotten about that movie, and Daisy and I send each other the TikToks and the gifs.
“There’s so much funny stuff coming out of it. It’s fun. That’s what summer movies are about. It creates this conversation and cultural moment, and people dress up and do the thing. It’s been really awesome. So, kiss or no kiss, everybody’s a winner.”
Chung previously explained he filmed two different endings and ultimately decided not to include the kissing scene.
He told Collider: “I filmed both versions, to be honest. I had a kiss version, and I had a non-kiss version. I have to say, I like both versions and there were many arguments made to have them kiss. My 13-year-old niece is very mad at me that I didn’t have them kiss because she saw that version and she loved that.
“But it feels to me that [Daisy’s character] Kate’s journey and the reward at the end for her should not be a kiss, but that she’s found companionship, she’s found community again, and she’s also come back to her sense of purpose, which is chasing these storms.
“So a storm is coming in, and those two together decide to go out to chase that storm, and I love that ending. So, many apologies to my niece and other people.”

TV legend Dame Joanna Lumley admits she ‘doesn’t watch much’ television

OHMYGOSSIP — Dame Joanna Lumley doesn’t watch much television.
The 78-year-old actress has been on the small screen for decades and is known to viewers for fronting a slew of travel documentaries but revealed that she keeps her own TV set concealed at home and only brings it out for a small selection of programmes.
She told My Weekly: “It’s hidden behind a cupboard door. In a rather bourgeois kind of way, I keep it covered up because I think a black screen looks rather odd in a room that’s got lots of paintings and books everywhere. I read a lot and listen to music but I do like travel programmes.
“I also enjoy what I call my special pain kind of TV, shows like ‘The Apprentice’ and ‘First Dates’. Some of the things the people on those programmes say and do make me curl up with embarrassment and horror.
“It’s kind of agonising to watch but I do so love it. It’s not a guilty pleasure thing in the slightest. I’m quite upfront about it!”
Joanna started her career as a model before moving into acting and appeared as an early love interest of Ken Barlow (William Roache) on ‘Coronation Street’ before finding wider fame as Purdey in ‘The New Avengers’ in the late 1970s.
But in the early 1990s, Joanna received a career revival when she accepted the role of boozy fashion editor Patsy Stone on ‘Absolutely Fabulous’ and starred alongside writer Jennifer Saunders, who played the hapless PR guru Edina Monsoon.
The BBC sitcom ran for three series until 1996 and then returned for another run in the early 2000s but almost a decade after the feature film was released, she is pleased to have had the chance to sit down with her former co-stars for the reunion documentary ‘Absolutely Fabulous: Inside Out’, which will air on GOLD in October.
She said: “It is a fabulous wander down memory lane by actresses who only have the faintest grip on reality. Really thrilling, and I hope vastly entertaining. I loved every second.”

Countdown star Susie Dent reveals why she is fascinated by Love Island

OHMYGOSSIP — Susie Dent is fascinated by ‘Love Island’.
The 59-year-old linguist – who has appeared in the Dictionary Corner on ‘Countdown’ for more than 30 years – finds it “really interesting” that contestants on the ITV2 dating show often come up with new uses for existing words, or use some terminology that has in fact been around for centuries, seemingly without ever knowing it.
Speaking on ITV’s ‘Lorraine’, she told stand-in host Andi Peters: “Misusing words can be hilarious. ‘Love Island’ is good for that. The word ‘like’ is the big thing on there.
“That goes back to the 18th century, though, 1778 is the first recorded use of ‘like as a sandwich word. 1778 is the first record of ‘Love Island is really interesting because they come up with new uses of existing words llike muggy or melt or whatever, so for a linguist, it’s really interesting.
Despite having appeared on the Channel 4 teatime game show for decades, Susie also admitted that she still gets nervous whenever the clock starts ticking in her letters round and revealed that former presenter Richard Whiteley – who died in 2005 at the age of 61 – liked the famous tune so much that he carried it around as his ringtone.
“I still get nervous. When the clock starts ticking, my heart starts racing sometimes! Richard Whiteley, I remember, had it has his ringtone!”
Susie – who has just released her debut novel ‘Guilty By Definition’ – also features on the late night edition of the programme, ‘8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown’ but admitted she was also “pretty nervous” for that version of the show until she got on set.
“The format really works, it’s so brilliant. I was pretty nervous because I wondered what I was actually going to do, but actually we’re just there to have the mickey taken out of us!”

Louis Spence QUITS SAS: Who Dares Wins after just 24 hours

OHMYGOSSIP — Louis Spence quit ‘SAS: Who Dares Wins’ after just 24 hours.
The 55-year-old dancer – who is best known for starring on the TV show ‘Pineapple Dance Studios’ – had signed up to appear on the celebrity version of the tough military-style series but reportedly walked away from the Channel 4 reality show after just one day of filming.
A source told The Sun newspaper’s TVBiz column: “He seemed thrilled to be surrounded by all the hunky instructors, who all came from military backgrounds that required them to have an elite level of fitness. But he was less enamoured with the regime they had to maintain, with Louie unable to keep up with them physically and mentally.
“Despite this he left without any bad feeling and was grateful for the opportunity — even though his experience was a brief one.”
The show will return to screens at some point next year, and other stars amongst the lineup include the likes of reality stars Tasha Ghouri and Pete Wicks, both of whom will also appear on this year’s edition of ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
Ex-contestants have revealed that the series is notoriously tough. For example, Danielle Lloyd recently recounted how she was telling one of the show’s hosts, Jason ‘Foxy’ Fox—who works alongside Matthew ‘Ollie’ Ollerton and Mark ‘Billy’ Billingham—that giving birth to her five kids, Archie, 13, Harry, 12, George, 10, Ronnie, 6, and Autumn, 22 months, was preferable.
The 39-year-old former beauty queen – who was on the edition won by ‘Pop Idol’ star Gareth Gates – told Yahoo! News: “I actually said to Foxy when we were doing that wire one where we had to drop. I was like, ‘I would rather give birth five more times than do this.’ And he was like, ‘Oh you’re f***ing crazy then!”

Miranda Hart has been through ‘difficult times’ in recent years: ‘There is always hope…’

OHMYGOSSIP — Miranda Hart has been through some “really difficult” times in the last decade.
The 51-year-old comedienne found fame with her eponymous sitcom – which ran on the BBC from 2009 until 2015 – and also starred on ‘Call The Midwife’ but has only appeared in a handful of projects in recent years and in a social media post revealed that the last 10 years have been filled with “tests and trials” for her.
She wrote: “I’ve been through a very unexpected decade and there have been surprising and incredible joys but also some really difficult equally surprising challenges. All the test and trials I’ve been through are in here… I am here, I am intact, I got through it.”
Miranda has decided to share everything from those “dark” times in her new book ‘I Haven’t Been Entirely Honest With You’ and promised fans that there is “always hope” no matter what is going on in life.
She added: “I am sharing the treasures I learnt in darkness and the things that helped me to live and feel like I am free and joyful.
“There is always hope, whatever you might be going through. None of us go through life without some testing or trials, do we?”
The post comes just days after Miranda – who appeared in the feature film ‘Emma’ in 2020 and in 2017 starred as Miss Hannigan in the West End revival of ‘Annie’ for a period of time – addressed her personal struggles with gaining weight.
She said: “I have found it incredibly hard not to feel shame from gaining weight over the last three years.
“Not because of striving for an aesthetic ideal but because it doesn’t represent me and who I naturally am. But life happens. Illness happens.
“And it’s a great way to keep focusing on the greatest healer – self-compassion.
“If I lose it or not I know I am loved. Peace out.”
