Emeli Sandé to tour next year

OHMYGOSSIP — Emeli Sandé is set to go on tour next year.
The 29-year-old singer has just bounced back on to the music scene with her new album ‘Long Live the Angels’ and it seems she doesn’t want to waste any more time away from her fans as she’s just announced an arena tour.
The blonde beauty is planning to kick off her set of gigs in Scotland as she hits Aberdeen on October 14 before making her way to the SSE Hydro in Glasgow on October 15.
She’ll then travel down to the Metro Radio Arena for her fans in Newcastle on October 16, before a show at London’s O2 on October 18 and the Brighton Centre on October 19.
Emeli will then travel back up to Cardiff for a concert at Wales’ Motorpoint Arena on October 21, before she heads down to Manchester for a gig at the arena on October 22.
She then has a show in Leeds on October 24, a gig in Birmingham on October 25, before finishing in Dublin, Ireland, at the 3Arena on October 27.
Emeli took a four-year break from the industry following the her debut release ‘Our Version of Events’ in 2012, but has admitted the success of her first album has had minimal impact on how she penned ‘Long Live the Angels’.
She said recently: “I didn’t feel pressure from the outside. When I write I take myself away and surround myself with friends and musicians, people I love, so any pressure comes from me, nitpicking and making it right.
“I wanted to make something that was worth four years out and reflected what those years of growth were for me.
“I wanted to tell a story of survival, that was very honest about the lows and the highs. I wanted to say you can get through it and find self-love, which I found towards the end, that’s the message.”
The full list of 2017 tour dates are as follows;
Saturday, October 14 -AECC, Aberdeen
Sunday, October 15 -The SSE Hydro, Glasgow

Rolling Stones planning new world tour

OHMYGOSSIP — The Rolling Stones are planning a new world tour.
Veteran rockers Sir Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ronnie Wood and Charlie Watts, are hoping to hit the road in 2017 for a series of concerts all over the world.
A source told The Sun: “Mick will never lose that bug for performing.
“Next year is going to be a big one, but not just because fatherhood is looming once again. He’s keen to go back on the road and play in huge stadiums, and some have already been secretly booked out in preparation for a possible show.”
Mick, 73, and ballerina Melanie Hamrick, who is over 40 years his junior, are expecting a baby together next year.
Meanwhile, Keith recently claimed the band’s new album was ordered “from above”.
The 72-year-old rocker said the band had “no intention whatsoever” of making a blues record, but their collective enthusiasm was reignited when they covered ‘Blues and Lonesome’ in an exercise to unite them as a group.
He said: “There was no intention whatsoever of making a blues record.
“I knew we were going to be working in a room we hadn’t worked before. The first day or two, this room’s fighting us.
“I had just happened to call Ronnie up a month before and said, ‘Just in case, get down that Little Walter track, ‘Blues and Lonesome’ and suddenly the sound comes together in the room.
“Mick turns round and says, ‘I’d like to do this Howlin’ Wolf song. ‘OK, keep rolling…’
“From there, we almost felt we were being ordered from above.
“It wasn’t planned. That’s one of the reasons I love it. It happened. And when things happen, I can take a hint.”

Rolling Stones album sent 'from above'

OHMYGOSSIP — Keith Richards claims the Rolling Stones’ new album was ordered “from above”.
The 72-year-old rocker insists the band had “no intention whatsoever” of making a blues record, but their collective enthusiasm for their favourite songs was reignited when they covered ‘Blues and Lonesome’ in an exercise to unite them as a group.
“From theron, we almost felt we were being ordered from above.
“It wasn’t planned. That’s one of the reasons I love it. It happened. And when things happen, I can take a hint.”
However, his bandmate Ronnie Wood insists the direction of the ‘Blue & Lonesome’ album was very deliberately orchestrated by Keith in such a way as to bring frontman Sir Mick Jagger around to his way of thinking without him realising it.
Ronnie told Uncut magazine: “I hadn’t heard ‘Blue and Lonesome’ for years. The wonderful lead licks, the harmonica… Mick thought exactly the same. It rekindled the flame.
“After that, Mick would say, ‘Oh let’s try this one by Howlin’ Wolf. Let’s try this one by Jimmy Reed.’
“That’s what we wanted, that’s what Keith was doing, ‘Let’s get him excited and believing again in his harmonica playing.’
“[Was Keith driving Mick to drive the album?] Yeah. Using me as the conduit, which I love to be. I love to be bounced off of and I will make it go.”

Louis Tomlinson's new direction

OHMYGOSSIP — Louis Tomlinson has recorded an EDM (electronic dance music) track with Steve Aoki.
The One Direction singer and the US DJ decided to collaborate after becoming friends earlier this year and the new song is expected to be released later this month.
A source told the Daily Star newspaper: “Louis and Steve partied a few times in the summer.
“They were just mucking around in the studio at first but ended up coming up with something special. It’s miles away from what Louis did with One Direction.”
Louis and Steve partied together in Ibiza during the summer and the 24-year-old star recently jetted to Las Vegas with pals to help celebrated Steve’s 39th birthday.
It has been claimed that Louis will give the first performance of the new song during the live final of ‘The X Factor’ – the show which launched One Direction to fame – later this month.
News of the collaboration comes after it was recently revealed that Louis has finally decided to follow in the footsteps of his band mates – Niall Horan, Harry Styles and Liam Payne – and previous member Zayn Malik, in launching his own solo career.
And he has decided to work with Simon Cowell’s Syco label, where the band are also signed.
A source recently said: “Louis is a brilliant songwriter and had not initially planned his own solo career.
“But he’s been back in the studio and has been working on some really amazing music.
“He’s played some to the powers-that-be at Syco, who are really excited.
“They think he could be a real success as a solo artist, given his proven ability to write hit records and massive fanbase as part of 1D.”

Tom Odell has no mirrors

OHMYGOSSIP — Tom Odell doesn’t have any mirrors in his house.
The 26-year-old singer admits his job encourages vanity, so he has removed the temptation of worrying about his looks and feeling self-conscious when he’s trying to relax at home.
He said: “There is a certain amount of vanity that comes with this job, which isn’t an appealing trait.
“You can find yourself inching over to that side occasionally because you see yourself in shoots and videos.
“I have got rid of all the mirrors in the house – when I come home I don’t want to be self-conscious.”
And when he is relaxing at home, the ‘Another Love’ hitmaker confessed to having an unusual hobby – watching YouTube videos of planes taking off.
He admitted: “I’m a bit of an aviation anorak.
“My dad was a pilot and I know a lot about planes.
“Sometimes I look at videos of them on YouTube taking off in heavy winds. I should never have admitted this.”
When it comes to dating, Tom never singles out a single physical feature that he finds attractive but admits he is unsure exactly what it is that draws him to someone.
He told Britain’s Cosmopolitan magazine: “I’ve never said that someone has great hair or a lovely a**e.
“It’s like a symphony… it’s the violins, the piano, the percussion, and when they all comes together, it’s attractive even though you don’t know why.”

Duran Duran 'saddened' after losing copyright battle

OHMYGOSSIP — Duran Duran have lost a High Court battle to reclaim the US rights to some of their most well-known hits.
The iconic new wave band – who comprise of Simon Le Bon, Nick Rhodes, John Taylor and Roger Taylor – had argued that under US copyright laws, they were entitled to call for a reversion of the restrictions after 35 years.
Following the court’s verdict, Nick said: “We are shocked that English contract law is being used to overturn artists’ rights in another territory.”
Hits such as ‘Girls on Film’, ‘Rio’ and ‘A View to a Kill’ – the theme song to the 1985 James Bond film of the same name – were among the tracks being disputed in the court.
Duran Duran wanted to terminate the grant to Gloucester Place Music Ltd, which is part of EMI Music Publishing, of US copyrights for their first three albums, ‘Duran Duran’, ‘Rio’ and ‘Seven and the Ragged Tiger’.
But their claim was thrown out by the court, with lawyers for Gloucester Place Music Ltd successfully arguing their case.
In a statement, Gloucester Place Music Ltd – a Sony-owned firm – said: “EMI has nothing but the highest respect and admiration for Duran Duran and their great songs.
“This has not been about seeking to challenge the US laws on copyright terminations, but simply a contractual issue in the jurisdiction of the UK courts to clarify the parties’ rights on various songs.”
Simon, on the other hand, admitted the case had left the group “with a bitter taste”.
He said: “I know that other artists in similar positions will be as outraged and saddened as we are.”
Nick also expressed his disappointment with the court’s decision.
He said: “We signed a publishing agreement as unsuspecting teenagers, over three decades ago, when just starting out and when we knew no better.
“Today, we are told that language in that agreement allows our long-time publishers, Sony/ATV, to override our statutory rights under US law.
“This gives wealthy publishing companies carte blanche to take advantage of the songwriters who built their fortune over many years, and strips songwriters of their right to rebalance this reward.
“If left untested, this judgment sets a very bad precedent for all songwriters of our era.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Izzy Bizu has been announced as the winner of the BBC Music Introducing Artist of the Year Award.
The ‘White Tiger’ hitmaker will pick up her trophy at the 2016 BBC Music Awards which takes place at the ExCeL in London on Monday 12 December and she is absolutely thrilled to have been picked to receive the prestigious accolade.
Speaking of her win, she said: “It’s an amazing honour to have won BBC Music Introducing Artist of the Year. The BBC has been hugely supportive of my music ever since my independently released ‘Coolbeanz’ EP and it’s a real honour to follow in the footsteps of acts like Jack Garratt and Catfish and the Bottlemen.”

Izzy started her journey with BBC Introducing back in 2013 when she uploaded her EP ‘Coolbeanz’ to the talent scheme’s website. Picked up by her local BBC Introducing show on BBC Radio London, the unsigned singer-songwriter gained exposure on the Radio 1 and 1Xtra BBC Introducing playlist slots, garnering support from the likes of Jamie Cullum who played her on his Radio 2 show before being chosen to perform at the BBC Introducing stage at Glastonbury in 2014.
She has previously been nominated for Best Newcomer at the 2016 MOBO Awards and was shortlisted for the 2016 Brit Critics’ Choice Award.
Discussing why she has been chosen to win, Jason Carter – Head of BBC Introducing – said: “Izzy is a huge talent that I’m certain will be a huge success story both at home and abroad. I’m proud of the part that BBC Introducing has played in launching her career and look forward to her live performance at the BBC Music Awards, and supporting her in the years to come.”

Adele adds extra Wembley shows

OHMYGOSSIP — Adele has announced two extra shows at London’s Wembley stadium after her two gigs sold out in just 30 minutes.
The ‘Rolling In The Deep’ hitmaker announced last week she would perform at the 90,000-capacity venue on June 29 and July 1 next year, but following a huge demand when tickets went on sale on Friday (02.12.16) morning, she has added a pair of shows at the venue on June 28 and July 2.
Tweets from Wembley Stadium read: “GREAT NEWS @Adele has announced two extra nights at #Wembley. She will perform on Weds 28 June & Sun 2 July! More info to come soon!
“Information on when and how to purchase tickets for the extra @Adele nights will be forthcoming soon. Please check here for updates. (sic)”
The ‘Hello’ singer announced her ‘Finale’ gigs in a hilarious black and white video of herself singing a slightly amended version of football song ‘Three Lions’ – which was recorded by The Lightning Seeds and comedians David Baddiel and Frank Skinner which soundtracked the England team’s journey to the semi-finals of the Euro 96 tournament.
In the clip, Adele jogged towards the camera and sang: “She’s coming home, she’s coming home, she’s coming…”
The out of breath songstress – who accidentally hit herself in the face with a football as she jogs – then broke off from the tune to exclaim “good job I’m not a footballer”, before adding: “She’s coming home. That’s right, I’m doing two nights at Wembley Stadium!”
Adele – who wore a scarf of her beloved team Tottenham Hotspur in the clip – then successfully headed a ball in the air and walked off humming the theme tune to BBC football highlights TV show ‘Match of the Day’.
The shows will follow a tour in support of her latest album ’25’ of Australia and New Zealand scheduled for next spring, which will give Adele the experience of performing in stadiums before her two Wembley concerts.

Kristen Stewart stars in Rolling Stones music video

OHMYGOSSIP — Kristen Stewart stars in The Rolling Stones’ music video for ‘Ride ‘Em On Down’.
The 26-year-old actress shot scenes for the promo for the legendary rock group’s song from their covers album ‘Blue & Lonesome’ in Los Angeles and it only took her seconds to sign up for the project, which involved driving a lavish 65 Mustang sports car around Hollywood.
She said: “It didn’t take much more than a few words to get me amped on the idea.
“The Stones. A 65 Mustang. Alone in Los Angeles. And the shoot was just was dreamy as the idea.
“We tore LA part in a day and we had one hell of a soundtrack.”
Meanwhile, frontman Sir Mick Jagger, 73, says he’s had enough of blues and wants to get down to working on their next album of original tracks, and admits they never intended to put out a whole record of covers in the first place.
According to the Daily Star newspaper, he said: “I’ve had enough of it to be honest. The weird thing is we were doing new songs and then we stopped that for a minute and said: ‘Let’s do some blues’ which is quite often what we do anyway.
“It wasn’t supposed to be an album, just a relaxation.”
It comes after Keith Richards – who is also joined by Charlie Watts and Ronnie Wood in the ‘Satisfaction’ group – took a swipe at Jagger’s songwriting skills.
The 72-year-old rocker doesn’t care that his Rolling Stones bandmate has already penned 40 new tracks for a potential new record as he would rather do something “really interesting” than be as “prolific” as the singer.
Of Mick’s 40 songs, he admitted: “Being prolific don’t mean s**t.
“I’ve got three songs and they’re dynamite. I don’t want to make any decisions about this until the record comes out because I think it might change Mick’s attitude, it might change mine.
“I want to see the fallout from this record before I decide whether I want to record 40 of Mick’s songs or whether he wants to sit down with me and record some songs together. That’s my thing. That’s my ball there.
“I’ve got a few songs on the back burner and so does Mick – he writes a lot. I don’t.
“I tend to concentrate on two or three really interesting riffs or ideas, rather than being prolific.”
‘Blue & Lonesome’ is out now.

Olly Murs wants Niall Horan duet

OHMYGOSSIP — Olly Murs wants to collaborate with Niall Horan.
The ‘Grow Up’ hitmaker admits that he’d more than likely end up getting distracted and start talking about girls and football instead of getting their heads together on writing songs, but he has left the door open for a duet.
He told the Metro newspaper: “We’d probably spend all day talking about women, going out and football …
“We’d forget about writing the songs!
“Niall knows where I am if he wants to go into the studio.”
And it seems, the 32-year-old Essex lad isn’t the only person desperate to make sweet music with the One Direction star.
Shawn Mendes and the ‘This Town’ singer have been rumoured to be getting together to write a song for months, and the ‘Treat You Better’ pop star recently met with the Irish hunk and talked about working on a song when their schedules align.
Asked if the collaboration is happening, Shawn previously said: “Yes, definitely, it will. Eventually when we get time. I met him for the first time the other day, but it’s funny because we felt like we knew each other because we were talking back and forth for a long time. But yeah, when we get the chance, I’d love to write with him. I think he’s incredible. He’s got this great, great vibe happening with this whole acoustic thing so I think I really want to get involved with it, if he is down. Which he is, I think.”

Mariah Carey's mother inspired her to be a singer

OHMYGOSSIP — Mariah Carey’s mother inspired her to be a singer.
The ‘We Belong Together’ hitmaker has admitted she has “always” had a “love affair” with music, but her parent was the driving force behind her successful career, which has spanned over two-decades, because she encouraged her to belt out songs since she was four years old.
Speaking about her career on her programme ‘Mariah’s World’, which will air on Sunday (04.12.16), the blonde beauty said: “I’ve always had this love affair with music, ever since I can remember. When I was like four years old, my mother encouraged me to sing.”
And the powerhouse has revealed despite starting off as a backing singer at 12 years old, and moving to live in Manhattan on her own where she claimed she had “nothing”, she found it an “exciting time” in her life, although she had to sleep on the floor for a while.
She explained: “I started doing demos when I was like 12 years old, I was a backup singer. I moved to Manhattan alone as a teenage girl. It was an exciting time for me, even though I had nothing.
“I lived like on a mattress on the floor. I was writing my songs and being a horrible waitress. My demo tape ended up at Sony and they signed it away.”
And Mariah – who recently called off her engagement to the businessman James Packer – has revealed her and her musically-minded nephew Shawn boast a “great relationship” because they know how it feels to “come from nothing” and build their way up.
The vocalist – who has five-year-old twins Moroccan and Monroe with her ex-husband Nick Cannon – explained: “I think me and Shawn have a great relationship because we both understand what it’s like to literally come from nothing.
“We did not grow up this way, people have to understand this.”

Sean Paul would rather sing for KFC than rap with Honey G

OHMYGOSSIP — Sean Paul would rather star in a KFC advert than rap with Honey G.
The 43-year-old Jamaican musician appeared on ‘The X Factor’ results show on Sunday (27.11.16) when he joined Clean Bandit and Anne-Marie for a performance of their number one hit single ‘Rockabye’ and was present to see Honey G compete against boy band 5 After Midnight in the sing-off.
Honey was voted off by judges Simon Cowell, Louis Walsh and Nicole Scherzinger with only her mentor Sharon Osbourne opting to save her.
After seeing Honey rap, Sean admits he would never be interested in collaborating with her, despite her huge success across the UK.
Sean was interviewed by Tom Green on The Hits Radio breakfast show during which they discussed a commercial for the fried chicken restaurant chain that he turned down and it was then suggested that he could make a single with Honey.
Speaking about Honey G’s rhyming skills, Sean said: “Um, I’ve always loved that rhythm … ha ha!”
Discussing a collaboration, he added: “Remember that ad you wanted me to do for Kentucky? I would probably do that quicker.”
Although Sean Paul doesn’t have much respect for Honey G, it seems Simon disagrees with him.
The former contestant is in talks with Syco to get a record contract since leaving the programme.
She said: “I entered ‘The X Factor’ because I wanted a record deal. I’m not really interested in anything else apart from getting signed to get a record deal. Obviously, with Syco, I know the team really well. We get on really well so it would be lovely to be signed by them because the relationship is already formed.”

BRIT Awards 2017 statue unveiled

OHMYGOSSIP — The 2017 BRIT Awards trophy has been unveiled.
The statuette that will be handed to the biggest pop stars in the world next February has been released and has been created by Zaha Hadid Design, in what was one of the last commissions accepted by the British/Iraqi architect in January before her shock death from a heart attack at the age of 65 in March 2016.
The BRIT design project was led by Maha Kutay, Director at Zaha Hadid Design, and Niamh Byrne, on behalf of The BRIT Awards, since Hadid personally accepted and commenced on the brief in January of this year.
The finished statues were photographed this week by Luke Hayes at the Zaha Hadid Design Gallery in Clerkenwell.
Speaking about the finished results BRITs Chairman Jason Iley- who is also CEO and Chairman of Sony Music UK & Ireland – said: “We are delighted with the finished statues. Like Zaha, they are innovative and original and have gone well beyond our expectations to create something special that will progress the Award into the future. I’d like to especially thank Maha and Niamh for all of their hard work and support over the last year.”
Zaha’s team produced a family of 5 statues, a concept that Maha says “represents diversity”.
Speaking about Zaha’s vision for the statue, Maha added: “Zaha was truly excited to be doing this. Her vision was, being an architect, to focus our efforts more on the 3D element, as the statue had previously been used as a canvas for artists to paint on for the last few years. Our design expresses Zaha’s unwavering belief in progress and optimism for the future and a break from the norm. The biggest challenge was to create something different within certain guidelines, yet achieving a result recognisable to the public. You have to respect the existing to create something new.”
The 2017 Critics’ Choice Award shortlist will be revealed on Friday (02.12.16) and the winner will be announced on Thursday 8 December. That winner will be the first recipient of the new statue.
The BRIT Awards 2017 with Mastercard will be broadcast live on ITV on Wednesday 22 February from The O2 in London.

OHMYGOSSIP — Jessie J is set to release an “exclusive cover” of ‘Can’t Take My Eyes Off You’ on Friday (02.12.16)
The 28-year-old singer has revealed she will take on the 1967 Frankie Valli hit of the same name as part of a collaboration with make-up brand ‘Make Up Forever’.
The ‘Price Tag’ hitmaker took to Instagram on Wednesday evening (30.11.16) to share the news with her followers.
Posting a picture of what appears to be the cover art for the single, Jessie wrote: “AND…. I can finally tell you I have recorded an exclusive cover of #canttakemyeyesoffyou in collaboration with #makeupforever Look out for more exciting exclusives December 2nd (sic)”
The single will mark the first for Jessie since she released ‘My Superstar’ for the ‘Ice Age: Collision Course’ soundtrack, as the star hasn’t released an album since 2014’s ‘Sweet Talker’.
Jessie also posted a series of videos on her Instagram account, featuring herself dancing beside the word “artist” in neon lettering.
Each video was captioned: “Make Up For Ever x Jessie J x#iamanartist x December 2nd (sic)”
The news comes after Jessie claimed earlier this year that she was ready to start work on a new album after spending time as a coach on ‘The Voice Australia’.
She said: I love doing the show (‘The Voice’). I’ve done four seasons – two in the UK and two in Sydney. But I just need to make another album.
“It’s really time-consuming, and if I’m honest with you, I get to the point where I’m in the chair, and I just want to sing. ‘I want to tell you how to make it better, I want to coach you, but I want to make it a duet’ … I’m ready to write another album.”
