The 1975 postpone European tour dates

OHMYGOSSIP — The 1975 have postponed their European tour dates.
The ‘She’s American’ rockers were due to perform 16 dates across Europe, kicking off in Amsterdam in the Netherlands on January 31, but have been forced to put them on hold due to “unforeseen circumstances”, although they plan on sharing the rescheduled dates within the next two days.
The band’s record label, Dirty Hit Records, announced the news on Twitter.
They wrote: “Due to unforeseen circumstances @the1975 will be postponing their European tour. Rescheduled tour dates will be announced (sic)”
It comes days after the indie rock group – fronted by Matt Healy – received two BRIT Awards nominations for MasterCard British Album of the Year for ‘I Like It When You Sleep, for You Are So Beautiful yet So Unaware of It’ and British Group.
The ‘Chocolate’ hitmakers will also perform at the star-studded ceremony at London’s The O2 on February 22.
Matt, 27, recently teased that the band are planning on putting on a one-off show in the British capital.
He said: “We’re gonna play a show for 500 people in a small venue in London next month.”
Meanwhile, the quintet’s frontman – who is joined by Adam Hann, Ross MacDonald, and George Daniel in the group – has ruled playing Glastonbury Festival at Worthy Farm in Somerset, south west England this June – but says the band would be up for it in the future.
The 27-year-old musician previously said: “I want to headline Glastonbury! Not next year, but soon. I never used to say stuff like this – I’m not a mental, insane narcissist – but there’s so much faux modesty in music now. It’s transpired that we get to play arenas all over the world, so why now would I not want to headline Glastonbury?”

Metallica to perform at Grammys

OHMYGOSSIP — Metallica are to perform at the Grammy Awards.
The ‘Nothing Else Matters’ hitmakers have been nominated for Best Rock Song for ‘Hardwired’ – from their latest LP ‘Hardwired… To Self Destruct’ – and will take to the stage at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on February 12, for a “unique and special” performance.
In a statement, the group comprised of Lars Ulrich, James Hetfield, Kirk Hammett and Robert Trujillo, said: “First, It was a total honour to be nominated, but now this!?
“We’re beyond excited to have been invited to perform on the 59th annual Grammy Awards telecast on Sunday, February 12, 2017.
“It has been three years since we were lucky enough to participate in the awards show when we last performed with world-renowned Chinese concert pianist Lang Lang and we’re thrilled to be asked back.
“We have something very unique and special planned for this celebratory night, so tune in to watch CBS-TV …
“Check those local listings for your time zone and keep watching here for more information.”
The heavy metal group previously won Best Metal Performance in 1992 and guitarist Kirk Hammett, 54, admits it’s odd that they are not shortlisted in the metal category and that they take these kinds of awards “in their stride”.
He previously said of their nomination: “Y’know, we’ve had such a crazy relationship with the Grammys, so when the Grammys do something like this we kind of throw our arms in the air – ‘Whatever, whatever!’
“But, it’s still an honour. It’s still great to be recognised by the academy, and it’s still fun to play the Grammys when we’re asked.
“I think it’s cool. I think it’s funny we’re in a different category, but we take it in our stride.”
Other than Metallica, Adele and Beyonce have been tipped to perform on the night along with Ed Sheeran and Kanye West.

Jaymi Hensley tells stars snubbed by BRITs to 'get a life'

OHMYGOSSIP — Union J star Jaymi Hensley says any pop stars “upset” about not receiving a BRIT Awards nomination need to “pipe down” and “get a life”.
The 26-year-old singer – who makes up one fourth of the British boy band – is bored of reading about which singers are “hurt” about being snubbed from the prize-giving ceremony and he thinks they should just be grateful their music was ever eligible to be considered to make the various shortlists.
Taking to his Twitter account to moan about the whining artists, he ranted: “Keep reading articles of artist saying how upset and genuinely hurt they are not to receive a Brit Award Nomination! Pipe down & get a life … Back in 2015 , we made the shortlist for a Brit Award and even though we didn’t get the nomination, took it as a massive conpliment … And counted ourselves lucky to be in the position we are! People think the world owes them something and they deserve everything makes me (sic).”
Jaymi’s outburst came in the wake of Laura Mvula tweeting that she is “genuinely hurt” about not receiving one nomination for the upcoming ceremony which takes place at The O2 in London on February 22.
Laura – who released her second album ‘The Dreaming Room’ to critical acclaim in 2016 – posted: “Feeling not quite good enough … genuinely hurt #BRITs2017 … maybe if I wrote better music? (sic)”
She later added on Twitter: “Lots of folks disappointed that I expressed disappointment. Not validation I seek, just not to be constantly slept on is all #BRITs2017. (sic)”
Olly Murs pulled out of performing on the BRITs nominations TV show, ‘The BRITs Are Coming’, on Saturday night (14.01.17) after discovering he had no nods ahead of the launch programme.
A source said: “Olly is gutted. One of his main ambitions is to win a BRIT and he really thought he had done enough to be nominated. As soon as Olly and his team found out he had no nominations they made the decision to pull out.”

James Arthur set to collaborate with Louis Tomlinson

OHMYGOSSIP — James Arthur and Louis Tomlinson are planning to record a song together.
The two pop stars – who both found fame on ‘The X Factor’ – now share the same management company and have “talked quite a lot about collaborating.
James is so keen to work with One Direction star Louis, who released his first solo single ‘Just Hold On’ in December, he has sent him several songs to listen to.
Speaking to The Sun newspaper, 28-year-old James said: “We talked quite a lot about collaborating. I just sent him a lot of tunes as I knew he was on the lookout. He has all my back catalogue.”
Before they could begin discussions about coming together for a song, the ‘Say You Won’t Let Go’ hitmaker had to call Louis to “clear the air” due to a Twitter and text message spat they had during which James branded Louis, 25, a “little b**ch” and described 1D as nothing more than a “marketing product”.
Recalling his call to apologise, James said: “We had a phone conversation to clear the air. He got to see that I was a different person and that helped us bond.”

Rag 'n' Bone Man fan Elton John

OHMYGOSSIP — Sir Elton John phoned Rag ‘n’ Bone Man to tell him he was a fan of his music.
The ‘Human’ hitmaker got the surprise of his life when the 69-year-old music legend called him up to tell him how much he likes his tunes and almost didn’t pick up because the caller was unrecognised.
Speaking to the Metro newspaper before picking up his BRITs Critics’ Choice Award on Saturday (14.01.17), he said: “I was sitting in the office and my phone went.
“It was ‘unknown’ and usually I wouldn’t answer, you know what I mean, because you don’t know who it is.
‘He said, ‘It’s Elton, and I was, like, ‘Oh, alright!’
“He just rang me to tell me how much he liked my music.”
And the 31-year-old soul singer – whose real name is Rory Graham – would love to get into the studio with the ‘Tiny Dancer’ hitmaker.
He said: “You never know, I love his songs. Major songwriter and amazing performer.”
Rory was previously an MC before he found his soulful voice and plans on cutting back the booze in order to preserve his vocals.
He said: “I drink too much, I smoke too much. I warm up now before I sing. You can’t just go and belt it out.”
The Brighton-based star beat ‘Rockabye’ singer Anne-Marie, 25, and pop beauty Dua Lipa, 21, to the prestigious title and was so overwhelmed when he found out that he didn’t believe it.
Speaking of his win, he previously said: “I thought they had made a mistake. I was up against two pop giants. It’s bloody brilliant! I’m crazy happy. Proper massive grin.”
Rory had a stellar 2016, after his hit single ‘Human’ peaked at number 11 in the UK charts, and he is set to release his debut album, of the same name, in February.
And he hopes to follow in the footsteps of previous Critics’ Choice winners; Adele, Sam Smith, Florence and The Machine, Emeli Sande and last 2015’s winner Jack Garratt.

David Bowie contemplated touring before he died?

OHMYGOSSIP — David Bowie was contemplating touring his final LP ‘Blackstar’ before his death.
The album’s artwork designer, Jonathan Barnbrook, has revealed he spoke with the late music legend – who died from cancer in January 2016 at the age of 69 – about the possibility of performing in support of his 27th record and the ‘Starman’ hitmaker didn’t rule out hitting the road, although he told Barnbrook he’s “not much of a performer”.
He told NME magazine: “I asked him as I always did, ‘are you going to do a tour?’
“The first he said, which was ridiculous was ‘I’m not much of a performer, you know?’
“I said, ‘I beg to differ , David! But this album is quite intimate – you could do a few small shows’ – then he said, ‘Oh, maybe I could’.
“So you never know – maybe he was going to do something with ‘Blackstar’.”
Bowie rarely performed after he suffered a heart attack during his ‘Reality’ tour in 2004.
And in 2015, promoter John Giddings – who had Bowie perform at the Isle of Wight Festival in 2004 – said he didn’t think he would tour again.
He said: “David is one of the best artists I’ve ever worked with. But every time I see him now, before I even speak to him, he goes, ‘I’m not touring’ and I say, I’m not asking.”
Meanwhile, The 2017 BRIT Awards is to feature a “tearjerker” tribute to the man himself.
The prestigious ceremony is reportedly set to give the late ‘Life on Mars’ singer his second major salute after ‘Royals’ hitmaker Lorde paid homage to the rock legend at the bash last year.
The late star has been nominated for Best British Male and Mastercard’s British Album of The Year.

Pharrell Williams: Women can save the world

OHMYGOSSIP — Pharrell Williams thinks women can save the world.
The 43-year-old musician is a long-time advocate for equality for women and has claimed that while he is uncertain of his own ability to excel in a time of crisis, he thinks women can be relied upon to save humanity.
Pharrell – who worked on the new film ‘Hidden Figures’, which centres on three African-American women who worked for NASA at the time of the Apollo 11 moon landing – said: “I don’t know what I could do, but I know if women wanted to, they could save this nation. If women wanted to, they could save the world.”
Pharrell – who wrote original music for the movie, which stars Taraji P. Henson, Octavia Spencer and Janelle Monae – remains frustrated by inequality in society.
He told Esquire magazine: “Women have a lot to carry, right? Including the entire human species. That’s deep. And still they don’t have an equal say on this planet. That’s insane.
“Meanwhile, their feelings are suppressed, their spirits are oppressed, and their ambitions are repressed.”
The ‘Happy’ hitmaker – who was a high-profile advocate of former US Presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton – said that the achievements of women are too often overlooked.
In fact, he suggested that the real-life story of ‘Hidden Figures’ and the fact that it was completely unknown until recently is reflection of the broader problem.
Pharrell, who also serves as a producer on the movie, explained: “The female contribution to anything significant has always been historically dismissed or discounted, or often erased.”

Michael Kiwanuka BRIT nomination 'dream come true'

OHMYGOSSIP — Michael Kiwanuka says his BRIT Award nominations are a “dream come true”.
The 29-year-old musician has been nominated for British Male Solo Artist and the coveted MasterCard British Album of the Year for ‘Love & Hate’ at the upcoming award ceremony, and has dubbed the recognition for his work as a “great thing” as it shows a step forward in the “increase of diversity” at the awards.
Speaking to BBC Radio news programme Newsbeat, the ‘Home Again’ hitmaker said: “This is a dream come true and the increase in diversity is a great thing. The importance of diversity is that’s what music is. It shows you another view point of how you think in your head and it makes you see the world differently.
“It’s not just about the colour of your skin, but it’s part of it.”
And it isn’t just the ‘Black Man In A White World’ musician who has praised the awards for their increase in diversity.
Nao, who is nominated for British Female Solo Artist, said: “The one thing about Britain is how amazingly diverse it is. We are all in this melting pot together.”
“Music is made by everyone and it’s for everyone. Put all of us on the stage, black, white, fat, skinny, whatever.”
Whilst Craig David – who will battle it out against Michael in the British Male Solo Artist category – said he was “excited” about the calibre of the artists he is competing against.
He said: “I’m really excited about the other people in the category. There have been some big albums from people this year, for example Skepta has had an incredible year.”
The increase in diversity in the nominations comes after 2016’s awards saw just four of the 48 nominations given to members of minority groups.
This year, the BRIT Voting Academy – who decide the nominations – was shuffled to make room for more voters from minority groups. Now, 52% of voters are men whilst 48% are women, and 17% of voters come from an ethnic minority background.

Laura Mvula 'hurt' by BRITs snub

The ‘Green Garden’ hitmaker was devastated to miss out on a nod for the annual music awards and questioned her songwriting skills in a emotional message on Twitter.

Her comments caused her fans to send a flurry of supportive messages on social media.
One wrote: “Crushing for you, I’m sorry, my lovely xx (sic)”

And a third shared: “baby.ur music has saved ppl. it’s not that ur not gd enough for the Brits – the Brits aren’t big enough for the universe that is u (sic)”
The 30-year-old singer also shared a picture of those nominated for the British Female Solo Artist award – Ellie Goulding, Emeli Sandé, Lianne La Havas, Nao and Anohni.
Meanwhile, Laura recently opened up about her musical inspirations.
She said: “The popular British music of the day is still very much a part of what I do I think. You know all the girl pop groups and boy bands were in their heydey when I was growing up and for me, it was really Eternal that had the biggest impact on me. So I took inspiration from all around me, and I never really felt like anything was off limits …
“My parents listened to all kinds of music and they managed to stay really open when it came to their listening habits. They would listen to a lot of church music, and a lot of Motown and a lot of classical music in the morning time. It was always broad. I mean I wasn’t particularly conscious of it, it’s just what I was exposed to and what I clicked with.”

However, Gaga’s rise to fame hasn’t been the easiest as she previously confessed she contemplated quitting music after the release of her 2013 album ‘Artpop’.
She explained: “I was just having a really depressed time in my life where wasn’t able to see my own ability or my own talent. And when you lose grasp of those sorts of things, you can just spiral.

Sex Pistols won't reunite

OHMYGOSSIP — Steve Jones insists the Sex Pistols won’t reunite again – because they won’t make enough money.
The 61-year-old musician has reconciled with singer John Lydon, drummer Paul Cook and original bassist Glen Matlock three times since the group disbanded in 1978 after two-and-a-half years together but has admitted it is unlikely they’ll tour together anymore as the financial benefits aren’t worth it.
Asked about the prospect of a reunion, he said: “Not for the amount of money we make when we do reunions. If we were making Rolling Stones money, that would be different.”
And Steve admitted he doesn’t have any contact at all with frontman John, and though there is no tension between them, he is happy for things to be that way.
He told Rolling Stone magazine: “There is no friendship. He lives in LA, I live in LA, but we just don’t talk.
“I think the last time I spoke to him was 2008 when we did a tour of Europe. I have no desire to speak to him and he has no desire to speak to me. That’s totally fine.
“I wish him all the best. I’ve got no resentment toward him.
“It’s just our marriage went wrong and we got divorced. You don’t want to speak to your ex-wife, do you?”
Sex Pistols released just one album, 1977’s ‘Never Mind the B*****s, Here’s The Sex Pistols’, but began working on new music in 2003 – something Steve admits it was the “worst thing” they could have done.
He said of the mooted album: “It was awful. It fell on its ass two minutes into it. It was the worst thing we could have done.”

Gwen Stefani sued

OHMYGOSSIP — Gwen Stefani is being sued for $25 million by her former hair dresser.
The 37-year-old singer has been accused by Richard Morrill of stealing his lyrics for ‘Spark the Fire’, the 2014 song she worked on with Pharrell Williams, and he is also taking action against the producer for not “supervising Stefani” during the writing process.
In documents obtained by E! News, Richard claimed he gave Gwen a copy of his own band L.A.P.D.’s song, ‘Who’s Got My Lightah’ in 1998 after she heard in playing while he was styling her hair.
He accused the ‘Hollaback Girl’ hitmaker of copying the chorus of the song he wrote for her own hit, changing the line “Who’s got my lightah?” to “Who’s got the lighter? Let’s spark the fire”, pronouncing the final word as fi-ya.
Richard insists the rhythm, melody and background music of ‘Spark the Fire’s chorus – which features four times in the song – is almost identical to that of ‘Who’s Got My Lighter’ and they are sung in the same key.
And he cited a 2014 interview with Elle magazine, in which Gwen stated Pharrell had written most of the song, apart from the chorus, which she had contributed.
Richard claims the pair have made at least $25 million directly and indirectly so wants them to pay all damages due to “their unlawful acts” with prejudgment interest, as well as account for and pay all profits that they have “enjoyed at his expense.”
He is also asking seeking the cost of “corrective advertising necessary due to harm to the exclusivity of the copyright and other misleading aspects of Defendants’ actions.”
He also wants his costs and attorneys’ fees to be paid.

Ed Sheeran's drinking sabbatical

OHMYGOSSIP — Ed Sheeran rarely drank alcohol on his travels around the world.
The ‘Castle on the Hill’ singer – who has just made his musical comeback following a year-long hiatus – has revealed many of the places he travelled to after he finished his ‘X World Tour’ in December 2015, with his girlfriend Cherry Seaborn had social etiquettes which meant drinking was appropriate.
He explained: “I finished the tour in Australia then I flew home, had Christmas in Suffolk, then I flew to Iceland. That was the first place I flew to. And then I went on from there.
“I went away with my girlfriend; I am (still with her). I didn’t really drink a lot; I was in places where it wasn’t etiquette to drink. So I was in northern Japan trying to find a whiskey bar and just couldn’t find one.”
Meanwhile, the 25-year-old singer explained why he suddenly decided to take a year out.
He added to Radio X: “It had come to the end of the tour, and the world wasn’t screaming for another me album. The worked wasn’t like ‘let’s hear new music!’ The world was like, ‘right, you’ve been around for a bit now, you take some time off.’ Now people actually want new music, but back then it was relaxed and so I took the opportunity to take the time off and had a gap year. ”
And the flame-haired hunk – who no longer owns a mobile phone – admitted it wasn’t quite a year off work because he spent the last six months travelling between Los Angeles, London and his hometown of Suffolk to make his third studio LP.
He added: ” I really took six months off, I didn’t touch a guitar and I travelled, From June, July time, I made the album and finished about two weeks ago. I built a studio in the garden in Suffolk. So the reason people thought I took a year of is because I had disappeared for a year, I was in the middle of the wilderness.”
