The Netherlands: Princess Catharina-Amalia turns 17

OHMYGOSSIP – Princess Catharina-Amalia, the heir to the Dutch throne, turns 17 years old today. Unlike last year, the Dutch Royal Family did not release a new photo of the Princess.

The Princess of Orange – as she is known officially as the heir to the throne – was born on 7 December 2003. When Willem-Alexander succeeded his mother on 30 April 2013, his eldest child automatically became Princess of Orange as the title no longer differentiated between a male or female heir. Catharina-Amalia is the first woman to hold the title in her own right, despite the Netherlands having had three Queens regnant before her.

She was baptised on 12 June 2004 with Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden, Baroness Rengers-Deane, Prince Constantijn, Martin Zorreguieta, Herman Tjeenk Willink and Marc ter Haar as godparents. Her full name is Catharina-Amalia Beatrix Carmen Victoria. Catharina-Amalia and her sisters attend mayor functions, such as King’s Day and the press moments.

Catharina-Amalia’s first major function, as well as her sisters’, was their grandmother’s abdication and their father’s accession. Catharina-Amalia was just ten years old at the time. She has been attending a school like a regular child since 2007. She reportedly already speaks two languages, and she speaks some Spanish, no doubt taught to her by her mother! She will assume a seat in the Advisory Division of the Council of State of the Netherlands upon reaching the age of majority at 18 and is expected to become Queen regnant someday.

Princess Ingrid Alexandra wins gold in Norway’s Junior National Championship in surfing

OHMYGOSSIP – On Saturday, Princess Ingrid Alexandra of Norway won the Norwegian National Junior Championship in surfing. The Princess won with 12.83 points in the Norwegian championship which was held at Borestranden beach in Jæren, the western part of Norway. Crown Prince Haakon, Crown Princess Mette-Marit and Prince Sverre Magnus were also present to watch Princess Ingrid Alexandra in the competition.

This was the first time there was a separate class for women in the junior category in surfing’s national championship. The Royal Court issued the following comment to the Norwegian newspaper VG: “We can confirm that Princess Ingrid Alexandra has won the national final in surfing for junior women.”

It is no secret that Princess Ingrid Alexandra loves to surf. When the Princess was confirmed in 2019, she received, from the county governors in Norway, a gift certificate for a surfing course.

In 2017, the Royal Family went surfing together in Hoddevik on the occasion of the opening of the European Championship Eurosurf. Crown Prince Haakon was part of the event committee and in the past has been an avid practitioner of water sports. Prince Sverre Magnus is also keen on surfing.

King Harald has also been an avid athlete for many years and has participated in several world championships in sailing. Moreover, he participated in the Olympics in 1964, 1968 and 1972. In 1987, he also took World Cup gold with his crew upon beating all competitors in the class for track and sea sailing with the boat “Fram X”.

Princess Ingrid Alexandra of Norway is the elder child of Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit. She is second in line to succeed her grandfather King Harald V. A member of the House of Glücksburg, she is expected to become the country’s second female monarch, after the 15th-century Queen Margaret.

Princess Ingrid Alexandra of Norway has first day at her new high school

OHMYGOSSIP – Princess Ingrid Alexandra of Norway had her first day at her new school yesterday.

In July, Head of Communications at the Royal Court, Guri Ofstad Varpe, confirmed to the Norwegian News Agency “NTB” that Princess Ingrid Alexandra would attend the “study specialisation line” at the popular school of Elvebakken in Oslo.

The Princess will attend the school for the next three years before she possibly begins her education in the military or at a university. The line that the Princess has entered, study specialisation, is intended to prepare students for further studies at the university. The Princess must now decide which language she wants to learn, and the school offers Chinese, German, French and Spanish. She must also decide whether she wants to learn practical or theoretical mathematics.

Due to the coronavirus, the start of this school year will be somewhat different. The new students will only meet in small groups, and the meeting for the parents has been postponed. Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette Marit must, therefore, wait a long time before they have the opportunity to visit the Princess’s new school.

In 2019, it was announced that Princess Ingrid Alexandra of Norway had changed schools. The Royal Court said that the future queen would start the 10th grade at Uranienborg School in Oslo in August 2019. From 2014 to 2019, the Princess had been enrolled at Oslo International School at Bekkestua. Earlier, from 2010 to 2014, she attended Jansløkka School in Asker.

The Princess’s grandfather, King Harald, attended the Oslo Cathedral High School. This is possibly the most prestigious school in the capital with a history dating back to 1153. The King’s sisters, Princess Astrid and Princess Ragnhild, attended the now-closed Märthaskolen. Queen Sonja attended Bjørknes private high school in Oslo.

Princess Isabella of Denmark celebrates 12th birthday

OHMYGOSSIP – Princess Isabella of Denmark, the second child of Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary, celebrates her 12th birthday today. Images have been released to mark the occasion this morning by the Royal Danish House. They were taken by her mother, Crown Princess Mary.

The three photos show the Princess outdoors, and in one image, she’s seen with the family’s beloved dog.

On 21 April 2007, Crown Princess Mary of Denmark gave birth to her and Crown Prince Frederik’s second child. In October 2005, they had a son, Prince Christian, but this time, they had a baby girl at the Rigshospitalet in Copenhagen weighing 3350 gr. A 21-gun salute was fired the next day in celebration of the birth of a new princess.

Following the tradition of the Danish Royal Family, her name was not announced until her christening on 1 July 2007 in the chapel of Fredensborg Palace. Her name was announced then as Her Royal Highness Princess Isabella Henrietta Ingrid Margrethe. Her middle name of Henrietta was given to her in memory of her late maternal grandmother. Of course, her middle name of Margrethe was in honour of her paternal grandmother, the Queen of Denmark.

Princess Isabella’s godparents were named as Queen Mathilde of Belgium, Princess Alexia of Greece and Denmark, Christian Buchwald, Peter Heering, Nadine Johnston and Marie Louise Skeel.

Her Royal Highness is third in line to the Danish throne after her father and older brother. She has two younger siblings – twins, Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine. On 29 April 2008, Queen Margrethe granted the title of Countess of Monpezat to Isabella when she granted the title to all of her male-line descendants.

She attends Tranegårdsskolen in Gentofte for her education and has since August 2013. Prince Christian also attends the school. At just 12, she doesn’t complete many official duties, but she does occasionally accompany her parents to events.

She was last seen on 16 April at Marselisborg Palace on the balcony to celebrate her grandmother, Queen Margrethe’s 79th birthday.

Millie Bobby Brown and Jacob Sartorius BREAK UP

OHMYGOSSIP – While I’ll admit that some celebrity breakups make me want to curl up in a corner and cry into a pint of ice cream (looking at you, Anna Faris and Chris Pratt), there are plenty of other famous couples who are cringeworthy AF. Topping the list of gross tween pairings is none other than “Stranger Things” actress Millie Bobby Brown and Musical.ly breakout star Jacob Sartorius, Obsey mediates.

Recently hopping onto Instagram to let their respective stan armies know that #Jillie is no more, Brown and Sartorius issued statements free of hard feelings or sneak disses.

“The decision w mills was completely mutual & we are both happy and remaining friends,” wrote Sartorius in a carefully coordinated breakup statement. Eerily similar to Brown’s own post-breakup announcement, it’s clear that the missive is a product of their joint PR teams, not of the former lovebirds themselves.

While I’m not one to revel in teen heartbreak, I couldn’t be happier to see the end of one of Hollywood’s most talented up-and-coming stars linking up with such a certified creep. Despite the fact that I’m definitely not a Brown stan who believes she was sent to rain blessings down upon the entertainment industry, I’m definitely relieved to discover that an impressionable teen is backing away from a predator in the making.
