Tracee Ellis Ross to receive Fashion Icon gong at E! People’s Choice Awards

OHMYGOSSIP — Tracee Ellis Ross is set to receive the Fashion Icon Award at this year’s E! People’s Choice Awards. The ‘Black-ish’ star will be honoured at the annual awards ceremony on November 15, as she’s lined up to take home the accolade for Fashion Icon, thanks in part to her recently launched haircare line, PATTERN.

E!’s general manager of news, live events and lifestyle digital, Jen Neal, said in a statement: “Tracee Ellis Ross’ style is transcendent. Her influence in the entertainment and fashion spaces are incomparable and we are delighted to honour her with the Fashion Icon Award.”

Whilst E! said they would be honouring Tracee for her “trailblazing looks and one-of-a-kind personal style over the past two decades, her passion for self-expression and how she uses her voice and reach to inspire others to believe in themselves.”

Tracee, 47, launched her haircare brand in 2019, after “dreaming” of the brand for 20 years, and creating it for 10 years.

PATTERN serves the natural hair community and aims to celebrate Black beauty, and Tracee – who is the daughter of legendary singer Diana Ross – admitted she wanted to create the line in order to “make space” for people of colour in the beauty industry.

She said last year: “Pattern was 20 years in the dreaming and 10 years in the making. When I first started wearing my hair naturally I, like so many other black women, just let my hair do what it wanted. Then I went through phases of getting it blown out and chemically relaxing it. It’s such a regular experience for most of us, particularly because we had a culture of beauty that didn’t make space for us. The beauty industry did not see this demographic of people, with curly, coily and tight-textured hair, as a viable or lucrative part of the industry. The products we needed didn’t exist and I spent so much time in my own bathroom cocktailing things together.”

The 2020 E! People’s Choice Awards will air live on E! from Santa Monica’s Barker Hangar on November 15.

Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden opens Stockholm Fashion Week 2020 + VIDEO!

OHMYGOSSIP – Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden has officially opened this year’s Stockholm Fashion Week from her home at Haga Palace. The Crown Princess, who is an important ambassador for Swedish fashion, gave a digital speech in which she focussed on sustainability and innovation.

Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden has shown her support for the Swedish fashion industry by giving an inspiring speech at the digital opening ceremony of Stockholm Fashion Week 2020. Due to obvious reasons, this year’s Stockholm Fashion Week was launched in a digital format. The Crown Princess, who is a keen ambassador for Swedish (sustainable) fashion, spoke in English to the Swedish fashion community from her home at Haga Palace.

In her speech, the Crown Princess spoke of herself as a “proud wearer of Swedish fashion”. She continued by highlighting that even though we have experienced many changes due to COVID-19, we should not lose sight of the United Nations Development Goals. She stated: “As an alumni ambassador for Agenda 2030, I am concerned that time is soon running out.”

The Crown Princess stressed that sustainability and innovation are not just about how clothing is made but includes so much more. She said: “Now, with the challenges ahead of us, it is not only the clothes you make that need to be innovative; but how you make them as well as how they are sold, distributed, worn and eventually recycled.“

To conclude her speech, Crown Princess Victoria praised the initiatives of the Swedish fashion industry as she said: “The fashion industry is getting ready for a digital and sustainable future. I am pleased that Stockholm Fashion Week has chosen to focus on these issues. And I am hopeful that the Swedish fashion industry can be a positive example to inspire the rest of the world.“

In these challenging times, the Swedish fashion industry is grateful for the support of the Crown Princess. “We are extremely happy about The Crown Princess’s support and engagement. We really couldn’t wish for a better ambassador for Swedish fashion and are proud to present the opening speech on the Stockholm Fashion Week digital platform Swedish Fashion,” stated the Swedish Fashion Association’s Secretary-General Catarina Midby.

The Stockholm Fashion Week is held twice a year with the objective of putting Stockholm and Swedish fashion brands on the international fashion scene. In other circumstances, the event is held physically. In 2012, Crown Princess Victoria also opened the Stockholm Fashion Week.

The Nordic countries get their own fashion bible: Martina Bonnier will be the editor-in-chief of Vogue Scandinavia

OHMYGOSSIP – At a time when we are increasingly hearing about magazine closures, it is great to see that the Vogue brand is not giving up. At the end of July, Condé Nast, the publisher of the fashion bible, announced that Vogue Scandinavia would come into being.

We also agree with the words of Martina Bonnier, the editor-in-chief of Vogue Scandinavia — the time for that was long overdue! The Scandinavian lifestyle has been making waves for years, setting an example with its taste, sophistication and sustainability. Vogue Scandinavia will operate in three countries: offices will be set up in Copenhagen, Denmark, in Oslo, Norway, and in Helsinki, Finland. All that, of course, to give a better idea of Scandinavian fashion — what is happening in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, but also in Finland and Iceland.

Martina Bonnier, 54, who lives in the Lidingö district of Stockholm, is a long-time Damernas Värld fashion editor, blogger and Instagram trend setter. The first issue of Vogue Scandinavia should be published in spring 2021 by the fashion-conscious woman.

In addition to Vogue, founded in 1909, Condé Nast also releases such well-known publications as Allure, Architectural Digest, Bon Appétit, Condé Nast Traveler, GQ, The New Yorker, Vanity Fair and Wired.

12 UNIVERSAL Beauty secrets every woman needs to know

OHMYGOSSIP – Everyone wants flawless makeup and perfect skin. While beauty YouTubers and Instagrammers are constantly promoting different products that worked miracles for them, sometimes (actually a lot of the times) you find yourself hating the product and wondering, but why? But how? The math is simple, different skin care products work for different people because everyone has different skin types. You already knew this.

So instead, what you need is to go back to the basics. Here are 12 universal beauty secrets that every girl needs to know. From how to keep and store your makeup and skin care under the best conditions so they last a lifetime to all the things you should do and avoid to achieve beautiful, flawless skin. Here are the secrets revealed.

1. Don’t store your makeup in the bathroom
According to dermatologists, the warm and humid conditions of your bathroom during and after showers or baths can make your makeup expire more quickly. It’s better to store your daily makeup in your bedroom instead.

2. Store your less frequently used creams and serums in the fridge.
It’s best to store any creams, eye creams or serums in the fridge as it will allow for a longer shelf life. It’s also especially good for eye creams as the cooling sensation reduces puffiness under the eyes. But please don’t put oils, pressed powder, lipsticks or eyeliners in the fridge.

3. Always use sunscreen.
Remember when your mom used to slap on the sunscreen to your face and body, well… mother knows best because sunscreen is vital to your skin care. Kim Kardashian’s LA-based dermatologist, Dr. Harold Lancer, recommends that sunscreen of SPF 30+ be worn daily to prevent the skin from UV damage, aging and unwanted dark spots.

4. Don’t wear makeup to the gym. Just don’t.
I know it’s hard to resist putting on a bit of makeup for your cute workout selfie, but you probably already knew this one. Working out in your makeup is truthfully speaking, a crime against your skin… the worst culprit: foundation. Sweat mixed in with makeup creates perfect conditions for acne to appear. So just don’t.

If you absolutely cannot resist, then go for a super light BB Cream or a water-proof, silicone-based mascara at most. Make sure that you cleanse your face thoroughly immediately after if you decide to break a sweat with makeup on your face. Or just use the cute puppy filter.

5. Regularly clean the things that touch your face.
Your phone is probably one of the dirtiest things you own and you definitely carelessly throw it on your bed and slap it against your face all the time. Make sure you regularly cleaning the things that constantly touch your face, like your phone and your pillowcase. Dr. Harold Lancer recommends washing or changing your pillowcase once a week and cleaning your phone with cleansing wipes.

6. Avoid touching your face as much as possible.
Your fingers have been everywhere and you know it. Try to avoid touching your face as much as you can with unwashed hands as you can easily transfer bacteria to the skin and cause breakouts.

7. Never ever sleep in your makeup.
This one is also pretty obvious, but even on the nights when you’re drunk AF and literally can’t, even on the nights when you’re tired AF and literally can’t, even on the nights when you’ve had amazing sex and just want to cuddle bae until you fall asleep… don’t. Make sure you wash your entire face thoroughly before hitting the hay. Sleeping in your makeup will clog your pores and cause breakouts.

If you still literally can’t, keep some makeup wipes by your bed and at least take your foundation off.

Taking salt baths increases blood volume that can significantly alleviate chronic fatigue syndrome. Infections and toxins can cause dehydration of the organism. Sea salt helps the body take in more water and this is beneficial for the lymphatic system, besides it is part of the osmotic processes and efficiently cleans the cells that way.

8. Take regular salt baths
Crystal salt contains nearly a hundred valuable natural minerals that strengthen the organism, it regulates the function of sebaceous glands, boosts circulatory function and has an antibacterial effect.

We suggest:
E&S Lavender + Himalayan Pink Halite Bath Salt
Elisheva & Shoshana handmade Lavender and Himalayan Pink Halite Bath Salt is a natural bathing accessory with a broad spectrum effect, skin-nourishing, calming and comfort-boosting. It contains many antioxidants that give an extra shield for the organism and help attain and maintain healthy body mass.

Eucalyptus + Sea Minerals Bath Salt
Elisheva & Shoshana (E&S) handmade “Eucalyptus and Sea Minerals Bath Salt” has a stimulating, refreshing and concentration enhancing effect. Eucalyptus boosts the respiratory function and helps relax the muscles after training, it alleviates pain and reduces inflammation. Sea minerals include 90 different minerals and microelements that help clean the organism from toxins, regulate the function of sebaceous glands and keep the skin young and fresh.

9. Don’t exfoliate if you have acne.
According to Beverly Hills dermatologist Dr. Christie Kidd, you should never exfoliate your skin if you have active acne. Using face scrubs will only lead to more irritation and worse inflammation. But DO exfoliate regularly if your skin is acne free.

10. Don’t overuse pore strips.
While pore strips are super fun to use because you get to see all the little white heads stick to the strips, using them too much can actually result in enlarged pores. Instead, it’s better to lightly steam your face in the shower, sauna, or over a facial steamer to naturally open up the pores, use a cleanser to clear out the pores, and then apply a cooling toner to close them up.

11. Good makeup means nothing without good skin.
We’re obsessed with high coverage foundations and concealers that will give the best, flawless finish, but really the most important thing is finding a skincare routine that works for you and also allowing your skin to breathe once in a while. Try skipping foundation and just using concealer some days, or using a tinted moisturizer instead. At the end of the day, the better your skin looks, the better your makeup will look.

12. Use Magnesium products
Magnesium chloride (MgCl2) can help alleviate the following complaints: depression, anxiety, fatigue, headache, asthma, muscular tensions, painful joints, sleeping problems, spasms, intestinal complaints, accumulation of toxins (detox effect), excess weight, magnesium deficit. Magnesium chloride is an important factor in the elimination of toxic elements and heavy metals and helps recover the minerals balance in the organism, it regulates the cholesterol level and normalizes the values of blood pressure. We suggest to use E&S products. The product Elisheva & Shoshana “Magnesium Chloride Bath Flakes Natural STRONG 47%” is a natural bathing supplement with a broad spectrum of muscle relaxation, spasm alleviating and nervous system calming effect. E&S magnesium chloride flakes are dermally promptly absorbed, it takes 5-15 seconds to enter the cells. About 95% of the applied magnesium enters the cells, the absorption through the skin is therefore preferred to oral intake in the form of capsules, powder or pill, also transdermal application of magnesium entails no gastric or intestinal burden.

Jameela Jamil’s make up lessons

OHMYGOSSIP — Jameela Jamil learned how to do her makeup with YouTube tutorials. The ‘Good Place’ actress prefers to do her own beauty looks and took inspiration from the video sharing site and social media app Instagram to ensure she could perfect her favourite looks.

She said: “I do my own makeup. I just learn off YouTube and Instagram videos. When I was about 27 or 28, a couple years into my career, people would cake my face with makeup. I rarely wear foundation, and I don’t love putting stuff on my skin. I want to look like me. Now, even when I shoot covers, I normally do my own makeup as much as I can …

“When I first started doing my own makeup, it used to freak people out. But now I think people actually find it quite a relief. I’ve done makeup for a cover shoot in the back of a car in 10 minutes. I’m quick, and I’m not rolling in with an entourage and being precious. It’s not my wedding day.”

Jameela is a creature of habit and loves to use the same make up. She added to The New York Times: “I always wear mascara, blusher and lipstick. I really like Maybelline mascara – the Colossal Big Shot. I’ve used that every day for maybe 10 years. I use the Giorgio Armani liquid blusher. It’s not thick and powdery.

“And I love Fenty lipstick. I have the one that goes on as liquid and then goes to a matte finish. It looks like paint. It stays for days! My favourite one is a fuchsia colour. I wore it yesterday, and it’s still on today. I have stained lips now – it’s so good.”

Rooney Mara created vegan line Hiraeth because she struggled to find animal-free alternatives

OHMYGOSSIP — Rooney Mara’s vegan line Hiraeth was born out of not being able to find “high quality” alternatives to her “favourite” clothes. The ‘Mary Magdalene’ star – who became vegan eight years ago – says that other than Stella McCartney’s line she struggled to find her usual pieces made without animal products to a high standard and so she decided start her own cruelty-free fashion brand.

The 34-year-old actress said: “I wanted to also transition the other parts of my life to being vegan, especially my wardrobe. It came from a selfish need of not wanting to give up wearing my favourite things, but also not being able to find an alternative for them that was high quality.”

Describing her style and how it has inspired the collection, Mara told WWD.com: “I’ve always really liked a romantic, Gothic aesthetic, but then I also have a minimalist side to me, so it’s kind of trying to marry those two together.” The pieces start at $395 and run right up to $3,000.

Meanwhile, Mara recently joined the cast of Guillermo de Toro’s remake of ‘Nightmare Alley’, which sees the star return to acting for the first time in three years. And the ‘Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’ star admitted it will be a struggle for her balancing her new business with her filming schedule. Asked how she will cope, she told the publication: “I honestly don’t know. I am pretty single-minded. I have an extraordinary ability to focus on something, but I’m not really good at splitting my attention very well. So I don’t really know.”

Victoria’s Secret Angel Grace Elizabeth engaged

OHMYGOSSIP — Grace Elizabeth has got engaged. The Victoria’s Secret Angel let slip during a behind-the-scenes video for the Moschino show at Milan Fashion Week that she is set to marry her partner Nicolas Krause.

Speaking about learning Nicolas’ native language, she said: “I’m also trying to learn German. My boyfriend…” As she corrected herself, Grace showed off her engagement ring and then jumped for joy as she exclaimed “Yes!”.

The 22-year-old beauty then shared details of Nicolas’ romantic proposal and admitted she wasn’t entirely convinced he was serious at first. In the Vogue video, she said: “So, his family has a houseboat, and he put lights all over it and candles, and brought us dinner out there, and wine. And we had wine, and food, and music and we danced, and he twirled me around three times, and then went down on one and knee and said ‘will you do me the honour of being my wife’. I said ‘Are you sure? Is this a joke? Are you sure?’ [I did] lots of screaming, lots of crying, and more crying.”
Grace – who is believed to have been dating for around a year – has rarely mentioned the soccer player in interviews but previously gushed about how much she loves him.

She said in February: “He is handsome. I love my German.” And she admitted that being in a relationship with their respective careers requires a lot of communication and the need to be “spontaneous”. She said: “You have to be spontaneous. You have to be able to say, ‘I’m coming to see you at 10 o’clock when I land.’ ”

Kate Moss to launch own fashion label “Rockeens”

OHMYGOSSIP — Kate Moss is to launch her own fashion label. The 45-year-old supermodel is reportedly working a fashion collection under her new label Rockeens, with it expected to feature “silk dresses and leather jackets”.

A source said: “Kate’s label is called Rockeens and this is her Victoria Beckham move. She wants to firmly establish herself as a brand, and build an empire fast. It’s mostly rock-inspired silk dresses and leather jackets – basically her ‘look’ and aimed mass market so everyone can buy it. Kate is planning for it to become a mainstream brand, and wants it still to be making her money in 30 years’ time.”

And Kate wants her 16-year-old daughter Lila Grace – who she has with her ex Jefferson Hack – to be the face of the brand. The insider told The Sun Online: “The clothes are currently in production in London, as she wants it to be a London cool brand. She’s involved in the designing but just not the technical side. Lila Grace will be the face of it and it’s due out before Christmas.”

And it’s likely Kate will get nervous about her new fashion label, because she previously confessed she “still gets nervous” on the set of a photoshoot as she still worries that she “doesn’t know” what she’s doing when she first steps onto a photoshoot set.

She said: “I still get nervous when I walk on set. I still kind of think, ‘Oh my god I don’t know what I’m thinking’, then I get on set, then one pic is done, then I know what I’m doing. It’s more about figuring who the character is that I’m playing or who I’m going to play that day. Figuring out who that is, then I’m OK.”

Designer Jonathan Anderson: Fashion’s in freefall since the death of Karl Lagerfeld

OHMYGOSSIP — Jonathan Anderson believes fashion has been in “freefall” since the death of Karl Lagerfeld. The JW Anderson designer believes the passing of the Chanel creative director at the age of 85 in February was a pivotal point for the industry.

He said of Karl: “Ultimately, he was the end of that period. He was at the pinnacle, he held the fort, he was the figurehead of fashion. Now that he is no longer there, I feel we’re in this moment of freefall, not just because of him but what the industry stood for. I have huge respect for Karl.”

There are other designers Jonathan – who is known for his outspoken views – also respects, such as Miuccia Prada, as he thinks she has “brought a new voice to fashion” and the “enigmatic” Hedi Slimane. He also offered praise for Jeremy Scott.

He told Grazia magazine: “All that optimism, he has not changed who he is and I like that. He really knows how to talk to people, his humour, he’s not elite.”

However, the designer thinks the fashion industry has become too “conservative” particularly in a time of such political turmoil. He said: “Usually, in political moments like this, creativity should explode or go against the grain. But fashion has contracted in on itself. It’s interesting and weird that such a liberal industry has become so conservative. No one wants to be outspoken, people have become afraid of their peers, the media, the ‘like’ culture of social media – there’s this idea of recreational outrage, like it’s more exciting to destroy something than support it.

“Instead of being optimistic and supportive of one another, Britain’s become incredibly divisive, it’s not about morals any more, it’s whether you’re in or out.”

It’s also a testimony to Neymar Jr.’s incredible journey, from his childhood days playing football in the poor neighborhood of Jardim Glória, at Praia Grande, to his rise to global fame. How to impress: 9 IMPORTANT Style tips for Women in Business

OHMYGOSSIP – Today, we are diving into an issue that is critical for women in business. The “what to wear to work” dilemma is one many of us business women face. How we handle this will impact how others view us.

Dress for the job you want, not the job you have.

Let that sink in. You’ve heard the phrase “put your best foot forward”. Well, let’s talk about how we can put our best physical self forward in a business setting.

The onus is on us to present ourselves as professional, respectable, and powerful. Whether we like it or not, appearances do matter. They are the first impression people get of us, so let’s craft our appearance to give off the right impression.

Clearly, qualities like work ethic, competency, and professionalism matter immensely. But also people do, in fact, take cues about who we are and our aspirations in the work place from how we present ourselves. Think of how you dress as an aspect of personal branding.

Here are 9 style tips how to dress for success by Carrie Colbert:

1. Do be authentic to yourself.
I am not a believer that you must dress to conform in an office space. I am a believer that you should dress in a relatively modest, office-appropriate manner. But within those guidelines, you do you! If you prefer color, then wear color. If you prefer heels, then wear heels. If you like to wear a bold lipstick, then just keep the rest of your makeup fairly natural. Just balance statement pieces with more conservative, neutral pieces. Everything in moderation. As Polonius so famously declared, “This above all: to thine own self be true, And it must follow, as the night the day, Thou canst not then be false to any man.” Being true to yourself is an admirable leadership quality. So practice it in all ways, including how you dress.

2. Do invest in quality, staple pieces.
As a business woman, you likely are smart with how you spend your money. There are certainly ways to penny pinch, but your business wardrobe is not one of them. Though the cost may seem like a lot up front, in reality you’ll get a lot of b ang for your buck. If the item is high-quality, you’ll be able to wear it many times over many years, making the cost per wear low.

Think quality over quantity. When shopping, pay attention to the materials and craftsmanship of the garments you purchase. Then once you buy quality items, take proper care of them. Have them tailored, have them professionally cleaned regularly as needed, hang them on velvet hangers (just say no to wire hangers!), take your shoes to a cobbler when they need to be polished or resoled. Basic care will go a long way in extending the life of your clothes and shoes!

Action item: If you don’t already have a trusted tailor, find one! Fit is everything! You want your clothes to fit not too tight, not too loose, not too long, not too short, but just right. And a good tailor will help you achieve that.

3. Don’t wear open-toed shoes.
Speaking of shoes… I don’t know what it is, but something about open-toed shoes is very off-putting in the office place. Save that for the beach, for the weekend, for the night out, or really anywhere else but the office. I’m less concerned with if you wear heels or flats, pointy-toe shoes or rounded-toe shoes, but I do think you should stick to closed-toe shoes. Now, if you do insist on wearing open-toed shoes, make sure your feet are well-groomed.

4. Don’t show too much skin.
I suggest being cognizant of this in two particular ways.

(1) Pay attention to your skirt or dress length.

The right length is critical! Dresses and skirts should at least graze the top of your knee. Keep in mind that when you sit in a chair, your dress or skirt will automatically rise up some, making it seem shorter. Be aware of any slits your clothing might have as well. Never choose pieces with super high slits.

(2) Don’t show cleavage. It’s just not appropriate. Along those lines, make sure tops are not at all see-through. And make certain that undergarments are not visible.

Some might add a third rule about not showing too much skin, and that’s the arms. Some stringent office guidelines often prohibit sleeveless tops or require a sweater or jacket over such. I’m not as much a stickler on this one, but then again it’s often a practically good idea to wear a sweater or jacket, as offices tend to be cold.

Always be sure to consult your employee handbook for specific dress code rules for your office.

5. Don’t overdo your makeup.
Like most of these tips (and most things in life!), moderation is key. If you like a bold lip, feel free to go for it. But keep everything else very natural. Avoid overly dramatizing yourself with things like false eyelashes, smoky eyeshadow, or an abundance of bronzer. Use your makeup to enhance your natural look.

On the subject of make-up, always keep a mirror at your desk to double check yourself before you go into meetings. Make sure you don’t have lipstick on your teeth, any make-up smudges, or food in your teeth. Likewise, try to keep a toothbrush and toothpaste handy just in case.

6. Don’t over accessorize.
Less is more. And again, moderation is key. Accessories can make or break an outfit. They tend to be a focal point, so make it a good one. Choose a high quality handbag or briefcase. Instead of piling on the jewelry, choose something classic like a nice set of pearl earrings or a simple necklace.

When in doubt, follow the KISS principle –keep it simple, smarty!

7. Do think about color.
Certainly around here, we believe in the power of color, as you know! So, while we are all for wearing color in the office, consider the psychology of color when choosing what color to wear. For instance, red is a powerful color, but can also be seen as aggressive. So, consider what’s on your agenda as you dress for the day.

Again, always remember that your style is simply another way to convey your overall message at work. Be intentional with how and what you convey.

8. Don’t be too trendy.
Unless you work in fashion, the office place is likely not the place to experiment with the latest runway trends. You want to exude an air of classiness, elegance, and power. If you are overly trendy, your look can steal the show. You want your appearance to amplify your message of professionalism, not drown it out. There is nothing wrong with incorporating a trend in a small way. Just don’t let it steal your spotlight!

9. Do familiarize yourself with the environment.
Different offices demand different levels of attire. Does your office require full professional attire? Or is business casual appropriate? Be cognizant of what your office environment permits. But I urge you to still dress at the top end of that range. For instance, your office may permit jeans on Friday. But should you wear jeans? Perhaps no. Watch the executives in your office. What do they do? Again, dress for the job you want, not the job you have.

Bottom line: Dress like you care! Your appearance is a reflection of your professionalism. So, let’s be intentional in the choices we make.

Well, do you agree or disagree with me on this subject? I certainly have rather strong opinions on this, but it comes from years of seeing women unfortunately undermine themselves professionally by presenting themselves in a less than professional manner, stylishly speaking. So, as I mentioned, think of your outward aesthetic as an extension of your personal brand. Make the mark you want to leave when you come into contact with someone.
