Al Pacino quit drinking after ‘blackouts’ affected his memory

OHMYGOSSIP — Al Pacino gave up booze and drugs after suffering terrifying “blackouts”.
The 84-year-old actor turned to alcohol and substance abuse after struggling to cope with life in the spotlight but he’s been sober for decades and he’s now revealed he realised it was time for him to quit when his lifestyle choices started to affect his memory.
He told PEOPLE: “I started to forget things at a very young age – they called them blackouts, so I got nervous.”
Pacino added that he initially tried enrolling in Alcoholics Anonymous, but didn’t find the support system helpful so his pal Charlie Laughton acted in a sponsor role for him.
He added: “I went to AA for a while. It’s a great place, but it was not for me … [Being supported by Charlie] that helped me.”
Pacino recounts stories from his life in Hollywood in his new memoir ‘Sonny Boy’ which is released this month, and ‘The Godfather’ star revealed he wrote the book partly as a record for his four children.
He told the publication: “It was due. I’m in my 85th year. When you get there and you start experiencing age, you understand why they do put things down.”
Pacino is dad to Julie, 34, with Jan Tarrant, 23-year-old twins Anton and Olivia with actress Beverly D’Angelo and son Roman, 16 months with film producer Noor Alfallah.
It comes amid reports the actor recently split from girlfriend Alfallah a year after they welcomed their son.
The pair met in 2010 and their relationship deepened during the COVID-19 lockdowns – with Roman arriving in June 2023.
When asked about their relationship by PEOPLE, Pacino insisted he is currently unattached, saying: “No. I have friendship.”
A representative for the actor clarified to the outlet that the pair are now platonic, adding: “Al and Noor are very good friends, have been for years, and are co-parents to their son Roman.”

Tom Brady close to sealing deal for Las Vegas Raiders

OHMYGOSSIP — Tom Brady is reportedly close to sealing a deal to become a part-owner of the Las Vegas Raiders.
The former NFL star is believed to have submitted a proposal to buy a 10 per cent stake in the Sin City team and a source has told the NFL Network that the plan is “on its way to approval”.
The report suggests Brady’s role as a limited partner could be voted for within the next few weeks and the deal is expected to be finalised by the end of 2024 season.
Another report published by The Washington Post suggests the deal with Brady is likely to go through because he is “good for the league”.
The insider told the publication: “The deal is ‘not done yet. I see it getting done … I think it’ll get there because Brady’s good for the league.
“[The owners would ] like to see it happen’ because of Brady’s stature.”
Talks around a Raiders deal with Brady have been going on since last year as the sports star stepped away from life on the field to retire and he’s already a part owner of the Las Vegas Aces – a basketball team which is also owned by Raiders boss Mark Davis.
Brady’s new role as a sports commentator for FOX is believed to have slowed the deal-making process as it he will have to abide by restrictive conditions when acting as a broadcaster to ensure fairness.
NFL insider Ian Rapoport previously reported: “Sources with direct knowledge of this situation said that many of the issues such as the valuation and Brady’s role as a FOX broadcaster have been addressed and worked through – and are now in a much better place …
“Brady will buy a piece of the Raiders knowing that it limits his ability for access to do his job broadcasting for FOX. Brady’s restrictions include not being allowed to be in another team’s facility, not watching practice and no participation in production meetings.
“His entire production team would be in the meetings, however.”

King Charles flew ‘prototype UFO’

OHMYGOSSIP — A new documentary about the British Royal Family’s interest in UFOs and the paranormal investigates claims that King Charles flew an actual UFO in Canada in 1975.
‘The King of UFOs’ features an interview with Canadian diver Dan Costello who claims to have witnessed Charles – then Prince of Wales – as one of three pilots flying a prototype UFO at Sandy Point in Nova Scotia.
Costello claims that the craft was shaped like a UFO and emitted a blue ionic flame which scorched the earth below and turned the soil to grass. He states that Charles was stationed on the nearby HMS Endeavour as a Helicopter pilot and was drafted in on what was called Project Serpico.
Costellos said: “The craft had dual rotor blades like a helicopter but it would also just sit and hover in the sky with the blades not on and with no sound of propulsion just a faint crackle of electro magnetism. I don’t think it was extra terrestrial but might be technology developed by Nikolai Tesla who had a facility here and now this was being used by the US, Canadian and British Military.”
The film’s director Mark Christopher Lee researched Costello’s claims and found validity to them and found evidence that the technology might be what US military personnel such as David Grusch have claimed to have seen at first hand.
Lee added: “What if what we are all seeing in the sky and thinking are extra terrestrial spacecraft are actually just a secret highly advanced earthbound technology? What if Prince Charles was involved with this project – does King Charles know the truth about UFOs? If so he should release this truth to the public. We deserve to know!”
Lee has written to King Charles to ask him about this 1975 event at Sandy Point but to date the palace has not replied.
Lee said: “I was quite skeptical about Costello’s claims at first but since the film has been released numerous witnesses have come forward to state that they remember this Sandy Point incident and that there were weird craft flying in this area.
“This may also explain the infamous nearby Shag Harbour UFO incident which people have suggested was a UFO – the truth is probably that it was an experimental technology that the US, Canadians and British wanted to keep secret and the UFO alien story was a good cover for this.”
‘The King of UFOs’ is out now on Amazon, Tubi, Apple and GAIA.

Garth Brooks alleges he’s a ‘victim of a shakedown’

OHMYGOSSIP — Garth Brooks has claimed he is the “victim of a shakedown” and alleged his rape accuser wanted to “blackmail him for millions”.
The 62-year-old singer – who is the subject of a sexual assault and battery lawsuit filed by his former hairstylist, known anonymously as Jane Roe – has submitted his own complaints to the court, lodging paperwork in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Mississippi on Tuesday (08.10.24) in which he also denied the allegations against him.
The ‘Friends in Low Places’ singer named his accuser in one of the documents and, having used the pseudonym John Doe himself, noted he would “re-file his complaint without pseudonyms” against Jane Rose because her attorneys “disclosed” his identity to the press.
He also claimed in documents obtained by People magazine that he was seeking to “defend himself against extortion”, while the second complaint saw him request a jury trial to “obtain relief” from the woman he accused of “defamation, false light invasion of privacy, and intentional infliction of emotional distress”.
Garth alleged the woman had “devised a malicious scheme to blackmail” him into paying her “millions of dollars” after he “rejected her request for salaried employment and medical benefits.” He claimed she “threatened” had threatened to“publicly disclose false claims” about him in order to “imperil his business and reputation.”
He claimed the woman had worked as an “independent contractor” for him for 15 years before relocating from Tennessee to Mississippi and she asked for, and received, assistance when she “encountered financial difficulties” following her move.
The ‘River’ hitmaker alleged that after denying a request for permanent employment, the woman “responded with false and outrageous allegations of sexual misconduct she claims occurred years ago.”
He then received a “demand letter”, which was also sent to others who he worked with, in July, which listed allegations including “grooming, unwanted sexual touching and sexual assault”.
The complaint stated: “The July 17 demand letter was the first time Plaintiff learned of these allegations, none of which has any basis in fact.”
According to Garth, the woman “threatened” to “publicly file her letter in a “draft civil complaint” unless he agreed to pay her “millions of dollars” and if he “failed to meet the demand”, he would “face exposure of many millions of dollars ‘based on [his] net worth.’ ”
As well as her request for a jury trial, the ‘Dance’ hitmaker requested a “declaratory judgement” from the court that the allegations of sexual misconduct are “untrue”, as well as compensatory and punitive damages, along with legal fees.

“I think Black men and Black designers are very much at the forefront of this new renaissance in menswear.”
The annual exhibition and accompanying gala is inspired by Monica L. Miller’s 2009 book ‘Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity’ and will “take the Black dandy as its subject, examining the importance of clothing and style to the formation of Black identities in the Atlantic diaspora.”

“This exhibition, ‘Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,’ explores the dialectic between being dandified and taking on dandyism as a means for self-fashioning. In the show, Black dandyism is a sartorial style that asks questions about identity, representation, mobility, race, class, gender, sexuality, power.”
The 2024 Met Gala was themed around ‘Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion’, while the previous year honoured late design legend Karl Lagerfeld.

Taylor Swift encourages Travis Kelce to try new foods

OHMYGOSSIP — Taylor Swift has been encouraging Travis Kelce to try new foods.
The Kansas City Chiefs tight end has previously admitted to being a picky eater but his older brother Jason Kelce is delighted to see him sampling a wider variety of cuisines under the influence of his pop star girlfriend.
Asked by Jason if he likes curry on their ‘New Heights’ podcast, Travis replied: “You know I’m starting to open up to the Indian cuisine.”
Jason, 36, replied: “I know, my girl Tay is getting you opened up.”
His brother agreed: “She is.”
Jason then said: “She’s introducing new foods to you. It’s been one of the greatest things that I’ve been happy about.”
However, the 35-year-old sportsman admitted he wasn’t a fan of a thick curry sauce.
He said: “I’m in on a light curry. The more it gets thicker and it looks like a baby food or like baby s*** then I’m out.”
Meanwhile, though Travis played coy on his plans for bye week – a scheduled break in the NFL season – he appeared to hint he’d be going somewhere with the ‘Cruel Summer’ hitmaker.
Jason asked: “You got any bye week plans?”
His brother quickly replied: “Of course I do.”
Jason then asked: “You gonna tell anybody?”
But Travis said: “No. But if any of it comes out [in the press], I’m sure we’ll talk about it on the show.”
Jason accepted the answer and told his sibling: “OK, cool, sounds good.”
Travis’ comments aired amid him and Taylor being spotted flying from Kansas to the East Coast on Tuesday (08.10.24) night.
The 34-year-old superstar and her dad, Scott Swift, were seen waiting on a private jet for nearly an hour before Travis pulled up to the tarmac, the New York Post newspaper’s Page Six column reported.

‘It almost took me out for good’: Jennifer Lopez breaks silence on Ben Affleck split

OHMYGOSSIP — Jennifer Lopez’s split from Ben Affleck almost took her out “for good”.
The 55-year-old singer-and-actress filed for divorce from the ‘Argo’ star two months ago after just two years of marriage and she does “not regret” her decision “for one second”.
Jennifer – who was previously married to Ojani Noa, Cris Judd, and Marc Anthony – told Nikki Glaser in a conversation for Interview magazine: “I was thinking about this time in my life, and I’m like, ‘That’s not what I thought it was going to turn out like.’ And then I thought, ‘No, this is exactly where I needed to be, to lead me to where I want to go.'”
Asked if she doesn’t regret the pain she went through, she added: “Not one second. That doesn’t mean it didn’t almost take me out for good. It almost did.
“But now, on the other side of it, I think to myself, ‘F***, that is exactly what I needed. Thank you, god. I’m sorry it took me so long. I’m sorry that you had to do this to me so many times. I should have learned it two or three times ago. I get it. You had to hit me really hard over the head with a f****** sledgehammer. You dropped the house on me. Don’t have to do it again.’ ”
The ‘On the Floor’ hitmaker – who didn’t mention Ben by name throughout the interview – admitted it has been “f****** hard” being along and there are times she has felt “sad” and “desperate” but she knows she will be fine on her own.
She said: “This summer, I had to be like, ‘I need to go off and be on my own. I want to prove to myself that I can do that.’
“It’s f****** hard!… It feels lonely, unfamiliar, scary. It feels sad. It feels desperate.
“But when you sit in those feelings and go, ‘These things are not going to kill me’, it’s like actually, I am capable of joy and happiness all by myself. Being in a relationship doesn’t define me. I can’t be looking for happiness in other people. I have to have happiness within myself.
“I used to say I’m a happy person, but was still looking for something for somebody else to fill, and it’s just like, ‘No, I’m actually good.’ ”
And now, Jennifer – who has 16-year-old twins Max and Emme with Marc – is determined to stay single.
She said: “Here’s the thing: There’s no new bar because I’m not looking for anybody. How’s that?”

Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher still feel ‘very young’

OHMYGOSSIP — Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher still “feel very young”.
The former ‘That ’70s Show’ star – who have Wyatt, nine, and Dimitri, seven, together – will celebrate their 10th wedding anniversary next summer and the 41-year-old actress credited their shared sense of humour and outlook on life for the “spark” between them.
She told E! News: “I still feel like we’re very young and we feel very young. I think that’s where the spark is.
“[And also] we laugh at everything.”
Despite being close to a marital milestone, the ‘Goodrich’ actress doesn’t believe it is a particularly big achievement.
She said: “It’s only 10 years. It’s not really that long. I look at my parents, and they’ve been together for 50. That’s long.”
Meanwhile, Ashton recently reflected on how he parents his two children differently because he is more protective of his little girl.
Speaking on the ‘Throwbacks’ podcast, he said: “I don’t know if it equates to being a girl dad or it equates to her being my first, but when I had my daughter, I had never been so in love in my entire life.
“And Mila and I talked about it a lot. Like, I’ve never loved anyone this much. Ever.”
Discussing how he parents his kids “differently”, he added: “My son, I’m always like, ‘Yeah, let’s go for it.’ Like, yesterday we’re popping wheelies on a bicycle in the driveway or it’s like, ‘See if you can jump down four stairs.’
“[With] my daughter I just want to protect her. When my son cries, I’m like, ‘All right, what did we learn? Let’s move on.’ But when my daughter cries, my heart is out of my body and I can’t put it back in.”
The ‘Vengeance’ actor noted the “toxic masculinity” he’s experienced through his life has allowed him to treat his son differently, but admitted Mila also adopts different approaches with their two kids.
He said: “I also notice the same thing with my wife, like, she’s very strict on our daughter and, like, a gushball with our son.
“I think we balance each other in that way.”

Kathy Bates clarifies use of Ozempic

OHMYGOSSIP — Kathy Bates found losing 100lbs “hard work”.
The 76-year-old actress explained she has lost 80lbs over the last seven years after changing her lifestyle and diet, before shedding the final 20lbs with the aid of weight-loss jab Ozempic.
She told People magazine: “There’s been a lot of talk that I just was able to do this because of Ozempic.
“But I have to impress upon people out there that this was hard work for me, especially during the pandemic.
“It’s very hard to say you’ve had enough.”
The ‘Matlock’ actress admitted being diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in 2017 was a wake-up call to managing her weight and looking after her health.
She said: “I ate because I was afraid, and I ate because it was a FU to my self-esteem.
“[Diabetes] runs in my family, and I’d seen what my father had gone through. He had had a leg amputation. One of my sisters is dealing with it very seriously, and it terrified me. It scared me straight.”
Kathy started with small changes, such as taking advice from her niece to listen to her body.
She said: “When we’re full, we experience an involuntary sigh. I just pushed the plate away.”
The ‘Misery’ actress also stopped eating after 8pm and overhauled her diet, though she is happy to indulge in the occasional treat.
She admitted: “I used to eat terribly: burgers and Cokes and pizza…
“We’ve been having trucks come to the lot over at Paramount to thank the crew, and yesterday we had Pink’s Hot Dogs.
“Oh, my God, I hadn’t had a hot dog in such a long time. Today I’m getting back on my track.”
After finishing work on the first season of ‘Matlock’, Kathy now needs to find a workout regime she enjoys.
She said: “That’s going to be my next thing that I’m worried about because I won’t be on set running back and forth.
“I have a treadmill here at the house, and I might try Pilates.
“People always ask, ‘Don’t you want a trainer?’ No, I really don’t. I don’t want anybody over my shoulder. It’s just very important to me to keep this going. I don’t want to slip.”
The veteran actress’ body transformation “coincided beautifully” with her lead role in ‘Matlock’.
She said: “Physically, I’m capable of doing this show. I don’t have to sit down. I can stand up all day long and walk and move and breathe and do so many things that I couldn’t before.”

Michael Keaton feels like a fraud using stage name

OHMYGOSSIP — Michael Keaton’s stage name makes him feel like a “fraud”.
The ‘Beetlejuice Beetlejuice’ actor had to choose a different surname when he began his career because of Screen Actors Guild rules that meant he needed to differentiate himself from Oscar-winning actor Michael Douglas, 79, and late daytime host Mike Douglas, but the 73-year-old actor revealed last month he is planning to use Michael Keaton Douglas to get around the rule, and he’s now explained why he wants to return to his real surname.
He told E! News: “I like my name. Every time I say my name, I kind of go, ‘Fraud. It’s not your name.’”
The ‘Goodrich’ actor also joked his stage name has probably led to actress Diane Keaton being asked a lot of “stupid” questions.
He said: “Poor Diane. The poor woman has probably had to put up with so many stupid questions: ‘You’re his sister?’ ”
Michael admitted he may not be “legally” able to use the name he wants.
He said: “It might not happen legally. Someone might challenge me.”
But any challenge is unlikely to come from the ‘Basic Instinct’ star as the two Michaels have previously joked about their shared names.
The ‘Batman’ actor said: “Long time ago, he and I laughed about it. Because one time he got something I think from some hospital or something and he went, ‘What?!’ And they got the things messed up.”
The ‘Jack Frost’ star – whose real full name is Michael John Douglas – previously explained he picked his stage name out of a phone book.
He told People magazine: “I was looking through – I can’t remember if it was a phone book.
“I must’ve gone, ‘I don’t know, let me think of something here.’ And I went, ‘Oh, that sounds reasonable.’”
He had intended to use Michael Keaton Douglas for his director credit for 2023 crime thriller ‘Knox Goes Away’, but didn’t manage to sort it out on time.
He explained: “I said, ‘Hey, just as a warning, my credit is going to be Michael Keaton Douglas.’
“And it totally got away from me. And I forgot to give them enough time to put it in and create that. But that will happen.”

Snoop Dogg has 1993 murder charge sealed

OHMYGOSSIP — Snoop Dogg has had his 1993 murder charge sealed.
The 52-year-old rapper – whose real name is Calvin Broadus – was arrested after his MTV Awards performance of ‘Murder Was the Case’ after he and a bodyguard were accused of shooting a man in a Los Angeles park, but he was found not guilty in 1996, and he’s now succeeded in a bid to put the case behind him.
Legal documents obtained by TMZ showed Snoop asked a judge to seal the records in January, and the following month, the court signed off on the petition.
The rapper recently reflected on his he has evolved into “America’s most loveable person” and been able to leave his criminal background – which led to him being banned from the UK, Australia and Norway for various periods of time – behind without changing who he is at heart.
He told People magazine: “You think about all the things that I went through and where I’m at.
“It’s a lesson: to let the world see growth, how somebody can go from being hated, banned from countries, thrown in jail [for] weed, to now America’s most lovable person. But it’s the same person.”
The ‘Gin + Juice’ hitmaker got involved in criminal activity in the late 1980s and 1990s and his ambition at the time was just to live to the age of 21.
He reflected: “When I was young, we used to rap about living to see 21. That was the goal. Then my homies passed away at 25. So the goal was to be 30.”
But after the death of friends such as Tupac Shakur and the murder trial, Snoop knew he needed to change his life.
He said: “I was stuck in a box with keeping it gangster and trying to appease the hood. [I realised] you can’t take everybody with you.
“I had to be egotistical and self-centred for a moment to establish how I get down. And I don’t apologise for it.”

Jennifer Lopez was warned American Idol would ruin her acting career

OHMYGOSSIP — Jennifer Lopez was warned she’d never make another movie if she worked on ‘American Idol’.
The 55-year-old singer and actress was a judge on the reality competition series in 2011, 2014, 2015 and 2016, but she defied the advice she’d received to accept the job because she wanted to help aspiring singers.
She told Nikki Glaser in a conversation for Interview magazine: “I’ll do things that could be risky because I believe that they’re going to turn out okay. I’d done all these big movies and made these albums and now they’re asking me to do reality TV. I’ve had kids and I haven’t worked for a couple of years.
“‘American Idol’ was a big show at the time. It really comes down to, what do I think I can bring to something?
“When all of my advisors were like, ‘Don’t do this, you’re going to be reduced to just a reality star’.
“It was looked down upon. ‘Don’t do that or nobody will ever hire you for a movie ever again.’
” And I was just like, ‘No. I don’t think that’s what’s going to happen. I think I have something to contribute.
“I love music and I love mentoring people, and I wanted to share the things that I knew about the business. So it became more about, ‘What do I think I can do with this?’
“When I’m choosing things, even if they seem like not the best idea to everybody else, if I feel it in my gut that it’s the right thing to do, nobody can talk me out of it.”
And the ‘Hustlers’ actress – who has 16-year-old twins Max and Emme with ex-husband Marc Anthony – admitted she has also turned down jobs that her team have encouraged her to take because she didn’t think they were the right things to do.
She said: “There’s been movies like that. Sometimes they’ll offer you tons of money to do a commercial or a private show, and you’re just like, ‘No.’
“They’re like, ‘Please do it! We all want the commission!’ And I’m like, ‘I can’t do that.’ ”

Garth Brooks declares going through ‘bad times’ in marriage tests a couple’s ‘mettle’

OHMYGOSSIP — Garth Brooks has declared going through “bad times” in marriage tests a couple’s “mettle”.
The country music giant, 62, spoke about his bond with his 60-year-old wife Trisha Yearwood, who he married in 2005, on Tuesday (01.10.24) – two days before he was hit by a court claim by a woman identified only as Jane Roe, who has said in a lawsuit filed on Thursday (03.10.24) she was raped by the musician after working as his hairstylist and make-up artist.
Garth told People in his Tuesday chat: “My favourite thing about getting to be Ms Yearwood’s partner is the good times, but also going through the bad times together because that makes you one and it tests your mettle.
“But what you find out is you have a love that’s going to last beyond this lifetime. I found her in the last life. I’ll find her in the next one.”
Trish also spoke to People in the same chat, and told what keeps her and Garth’s marriage alive.
She added: “At the end of the day, we’re best friends. We actually enjoy each other’s company.
“People always ask us when we’re on tour together, ‘You’re with your husband all the time, how is that?’
“I’m like, ‘We actually enjoy each other’s company and I can’t imagine doing this build without you.”
Garth’s lawsuit accuser had her claims against him filed on Thursday in California, saying the country star raped her in 2019 after she was hired as a hairstylist for the singer and his wife.
Garth said in a statement after the claim was made public it was part of a “hush money” shakedown.
He added: “For the last two months, I have been hassled to no end with threats, lies, and tragic tales of what my future would be if I did not write a check for many millions of dollars. It has been like having a loaded gun waved in my face.
“Hush money, no matter how much or how little, is still hush money. In my mind, that means I am admitting to behaviour I am incapable of – ugly acts no human should ever do to another.
“I want to continue our good deeds going forward. It breaks my heart these wonderful things are in question now.
“I trust the system, I do not fear the truth, and I am not the man they have painted me to be.”
His accuser’s lawyer Douglas H Wigdor hit back at Garth’s claim by comparing him to jailed rapper Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, 54, who is awaiting trial on sex trafficking and racketeering charges.
He said: “I cannot get into settlement discussions, but the suggestion made by Brooks that he was unwilling to pay millions (to Jane Roe) is simply not true.
“It seems as though Sean Combs and Garth Brooks are using the same public relations team by attacking legitimate victims.
“We are very confident in our case and over time the public will see his true character rather than his highly curated persona.”

“And with full knowledge of my opinions (being) no more or less important than any of my fellow citizens, here’s my answer: I’m supporting Kamala Harris for president and Tim Walz for vice president.”
Bruce added November’s US presidential election the “most consequential” in his life and said America has not felt as divided “politically, spiritually, and emotionally” since the nation’s Civil War.
The E Street Band frontman added: “At this moment, it doesn’t have to be this way.”
Bruce also slated Harris’ White House race rival Donald Trump the “most dangerous” candidate for president in his lifetime – adding: “He doesn’t understand the meaning of this country, its history, or what it means to be deeply American”.
He added Harris and her running mate Walz are “committed to a vision of this country that respects and includes everyone, regardless of class, religion, race, your political point of view or sexual identity”.
Bruce went on: “They want to grow our economy in a way that benefits all – not just for a few like me on top.
“That’s the vision of America I’ve been consistently writing about for 55 years now.
“Everybody sees things different, and I respect your choice as a fellow citizen. “But like you, I’ve only got one vote and it’s one of the most precious possessions I have.”
