Keira Knightley: I am spending most of my time working and on film sets
Keira Knightley is unaffected by fame. The British actress says she spends most of her time on film sets — which she calls a “protective kind of bubble” — so she is unaware of what’s happening in the outside world.
“I have to say, I am spending most of my time working and on film sets. It’s a very protective kind of bubble, which is fantastic, so I haven’t been overly aware of any of it,” she said.
“At the moment, what I want to do is make films and, therefore, all is good – when it isn’t, I’ll rethink and I’ll probably do something else. Who knows? But at the moment it’s fine.”
Keira — who starred in three Pirates Of The Caribbean movies — then insisted she isn’t sad that she won’t be a part of the fourth flick.
“I had an amazing time on it. It was a rather substantial chunk of my life. I was 17 when I started it and 21 when I finished,” she said.
“Three films, it was wonderful, but that was it and I’m on a different path. I can’t wait to see the new one. I’m fine not being a part of it.”
Knightley recently admitted she finds it “exciting” that her career could quickly come to an end.
“All through my life what I’ve loved doing is watching movies,” she said. “I love the escapism of film, I love stories. So it is incredible to be able to be in them as much as I am, to see them from the first stitch in a costume to the end product. That’s what I find really incredible and that’s what I’ve always wanted to spend my time doing.
“But acting is very much a profession that is you’re hot one moment and not the next – and that is totally cool. I think that’s what I find most fascinating and most exciting about it – is that it can be gone in a puff of smoke.”
