Sally Dynevor ‘angry’ about domestic violence abusers

OHMYGOSSIP — Sally Dynevor’s portrayal as a victim of domestic violence in ‘Coronation Street’ made her “all the more angry” to hear about women suffering such violence in real life.
The 55-year-old actress is proud to have raised awareness of such issues, including online harassment, while playing Sally Metcalfe in the ITV soap, but reading about real instances have left her frustrated.
She said: “The character I play in ‘Coronation Street’, Sally Metcalfe, has herself survived domestic violence and online harassment and I’ll always be proud of having brought those issues to people through the soap.
“But my brief, pretend experience of the problem makes me all the more angry when I read about the women who face violence around the world.”
Sally – who has three kids, Phoebe, 23, Sam, 21, and 14-year-old Harriet with her scriptwriter husband Tim Dynevor – is hopeful her children will one day live in a world where people won’t have to face “violence or injustice” because of their gender.
Writing a blog post for ActionAid – of which she is an ambassador – she added: “I am a mother of three wonderful kids – two daughters and a son. I’ve brought them up to believe in their rights and that they are as valuable as each other, whatever their gender. I want the world they inherit to be equal, where no one has to face violence or injustice simply because of their gender.
“I’ve been reflecting on this recently more than usual, amid the #MeToo movement, which is showing just how many women – in the UK and around the world – face harassment, sexual violence and other abuses of power.”
