OHMYGOSSIP — Shaughna Phillips has branded ‘Love Island’s parties “awkward” as they are often filmed without any music.
The former democratic services officer appeared in the winter series of the ITV2 show in South Africa in early 2020 – and she’s revealed she hated shooting party scenes as bosses only played instrumental tracks and often made the contestants dance without any music at all.
In her column for OK!, she explained: “This week, we also saw the Islanders having their first party. I would rather go through Casa Amor all over again than ever have to do a Love Island party scene again.
“The music they play on the TV edit is completely different to what they actually play in the villa. They just play instrumental songs with no lyrics.”
Shaughna added of the parties: “For some of the dance scenes, they don’t play music at all. So all you can hear is everyone’s feet on the floor. It is so awkward.”
The latest season’s first party aired this week and current contestant Paige Thorne was heard saying how much she was looking forward to dancing.
However, Shaugha admitted she felt bad for Paige, saying: “When I heard Paige Thorne saying she couldn’t wait to dance, I was thinking: ‘You poor soul – you have no idea!'”
The stars of the show also don’t get the chance to really let loose as producers strictly control the amount of alcohol on offer.
They are usually allowed one alcohol drink per night with the stars sometimes being treated to two during a long night of filming.
Shaugha explained she didn’t drink much at all during her time in the Cape Town villa as she wasn’t impressed with the selection of beer, wine of Prosecco.
‘Love Island’ airs at 9pm on ITV2 and ITV Hub. Episodes are available the following morning on BritBox.
The dating reality show can be seen in Ireland on Virgin Media Two and Virgin Media Player.
