Miss Universe Dominican Republic 2012 Dulcita Lynn Lieggi Francisco

Dulcita Lynn Lieggi Francisco (born 19 May 1989) is a Dominican beauty queen and reigning Miss Dominican Republic 2012 after originally placing 1-runner up to Carola Durán, Lieggi was later given the title after the original winner was dethroned. Lieggi will represent the Dominican Republic in Miss Universe 2012.

Lieggi competed as a representative of the province of Distrito Nacional, being one of 37 candidates in the country of Dominican Republic in the national beauty contest, Miss Dominican Republic 2012, broadcast live from Santo Domingo on 17 April 2012, where she became the first runner up for the title, winning the right to represent the Dominican Republic in Miss Continente Americano 2012. The second runner up, Carolyn Hawa, from Santiago, will represent the Dominican Republic in the Reina Hispanoamericana 2012 in Bolivia. The third runner up was Alondra Peña of Peravia, and the fourth runner up was Luz Quezada of San José de Ocoa. On 24 April 2012, exactly one week after winning the crown, Durán was dethroned for having once been married.

Miss Universe 2012, the 61st Miss Universe pageant, will be held in December 2012 in a venue to be announced by the Miss Universe Organization. Miss Universe 2011 Leila Lopes from Angola will crown her successor at the end of the event.

Miss Universe is an annual international beauty contest run by the Miss Universe Organization. The pageant is the most publicized beauty contest in the world with 600 million viewers. The contest was founded in 1952 by California clothing company Pacific Mills. The pageant became part of Kayser-Roth and then Gulf and Western Industries, before being acquired by Donald Trump in 1996. In 1998, Miss Universe changed its name from Miss Universe, Inc. to Miss Universe Organization and the headquarters moved from Long Beach California, to New York City that year. Donald Trump brought in a new team of professionals to the contest headed by its new CEO, Molly Miles, and president Maureen Reidy. The contest would use the slogan “Redefined for Today” for promotion of the pageants. The current Miss Universe is Leila Lopes, from Angola. She won the title on Sept 12, 2011.
